This morning we went for breakfast here at this location since the new owners took over this building the food is bland the service is slow and they have a surcharge if you use a credit card. And because I paid with cash I was returned change in $.70 worth of nickels. I will not be returning to this location. The waffle iron used to be so good this is a shame that someone who couldn't even keep the other restaurant open took over this restaurant and is now ruining it. read more

We were excited to try this place for breakfast. And so disappointed when our food came out. My husband and I both ordered different waffles so we could try each others flavor. I ordered the bacon waffle, which on the menu states is made with the bacon cooked into the waffle. My husband ordered the banana caramel waffle. When our food came out, I was given a plain waffle with the equivalent of a strip of bacon broken up on top. My husband was given a plain waffle with a pile of sliced bananas on it. The server also brought us a plate with an egg and a piece of sausage, which we hadn't ordered. The server who came and took our order walked by and my husband looked up at her and said, "this is supposed to be banana/caramel." She took his plate and brought it back with a little caramel syrup poured on the bananas and shot some whipped cream on it. Both waffles were cold, and very plain. I won't go back. It was $25 for our 2 waffles and 1 cup of coffee. Too much money for so little. The servers were nice, the place was cute, but the food was not worth the money. read more

Service is good but the food is not. Ordered some "Stuffed French Toast", and what I got was a couple of french toast sandwiches made out of low quality bread not suitable for french toast with some goo in between and a few berries scattered about and a small dollop of whip cream. the cheap bread got soggy really fast, and everyone knows that most folk make their french toast with Texas toast or some decent sourdough bread. Raise the price a bit and buy some better bread, or hire a cook who takes some pride in their job. BTW, you can really stuff french toast if using the appropriate kind of bread. Relayed my feedback about the french toast to the lady behind the register and all I got was a look. Don't you restaurant folks appreciate respectful feedback these days? Again the service from the waitress was excellent but the cook.....needs a computer tablet to google how to make "Stuffed French Toast" while they're in the back. read more

THIS IS A *MUST* VISIT So the Irish Redhead and I were in Prescott for only a couple of days, and seeking breakfast on the way home. Found the Waffle Iron almost by accident, and SOOO glad we did. Small, home-y place with an authentic western feel, clearly old but treasured and beautifully kept. The servers are delightful - loads of personality, quick on the draw, and only too happy to serve you. Prices are amazingly reasonable. The Irish Redhead has a Thing for French Toast, and said her order ranked with the best ever. I ordered the Fruit Waffle - plus an omelet and hash browns as well, since I didn't think a single waffle would be filling enough. For the fruit -- expecting just a tiny dab of each -- I asked for strawberry, banana and apple. Ha. What they failed to tell me up front was that this was no simple "fruit waffle" - it was a F*R*U*I*T W*A*F*F*L*E !!!, with all three choices piled sky high. Btw, their Boysenberry syrup is to die for. The omelet was tasty, the hash browns perfect, the coffee kept coming, and I couldn't finish. If you ever visit Prescott, DO NOT MISS this experience. It's as if I walked out of Prescott and into rural Arkansas at this place. Small country diner feel to it with country music playing overhead, truckstop style booths and a tiny kitchen in the back. Nearly every patron was wearing one of those oversized plaid long shirts on top of a regular shirt. Servers were middle aged with blue jeans at least one size too small, and 1980's hairstyle that you don't see very often. Their bubbly signature on my check with the heart shape over the 'i' and smiley face was heart warming, but then I remembered it is disingenuous. Maybe it's too close to downtown because it seemed to have the touristy prices for such a modest place. Not sure when a little plain waffle (a la carte) made it up to $5-6 or more with some of the traditional toppings. They even have a bacon-infused waffle with the bacon "cooked right in". Waffle itself was light and airy, a nice golden brown, and served with choice of syrup. Hashbrowns were fresh made and decent sized, but again... nearly $3 for a side. Last but not least... gravel parking is really lame. But then again, I suppose I was out of place by showing up in a car (as opposed to all of the trucks in the lot!). /sigh read more

Great breakfast joint!!! This is now my favorite breakfast place. Food is reasonable priced and kitchen is super quick! Everybody in our party was very satisfied with their meals and he portions are generous. The gluten free buckwheat pancakes were a hit with my girls! The bacon is stellar and they give you four pieces with your eggs. My father loved his biscuits and gravy and my husband really enjoyed the German omelette. Hats off to Waffle Iron for super quick, tasty, fresh and reasonably priced food! Certainly our new favorite breakfast restaurant when we visit Prescott. read more

The perfect place for a weary buckaroo to rest his chapped hide and sit a spell. This western-themed eatery has some of the most rootin' tootin' (whatever the hell that means) breakfasts in the American West. It's the type of place Billy The Kid would eat if he hadn't been brutally murdered over 100 years ago! The servers dole out a heapin' helpin' of hospitality, and work harder than railroad-chinamen to get your food out on time. The cook, who I'll assume is named "Cookie", makes some of the best dishes this side of the Pecos River! Their buckwheat pancakes with apricot syrup are amazing, and their coffee is so strong it'll make you want to singlehandedly re-locate an entire tribe of Natives! Their version of a Spanish Omlette is so good, it almost justifies the way the southwest was brutally ripped away from Mexico. You'll find no trail of tears leading from this local hot-spot! Residents of Prescott consider this locality a hidden gem off the beaten path. If you manage find it on your own, consider it manifest destiny! read more

Was wondering this morning why I never ate here the whole time I lived in Prescott. But I quickly realized why. After breakfast I left with about a 1 inch thick cake of mud on my boots because the owner has been too cheap for decades to pave their small postage-stamp-sized swamp of a parking lot (30' x 30'?). So.... I ordered a bacon waffle which is supposed to be $11. With it I ordered a side of steak with nothing else. A whole steak breakfast is supposed to be $17, so I was charged for the eggs, HB & toast I didn't order. My bill for 1 waffle with a side of steak and nothing else came to $32 and change, with mud-caked boots and mud-caked truck at no extra charge -- and it hasn't rained in days. The steak was grisly, bland and cold. The waffle could not be eaten with a fork because it fell to pieces whenever I tried to take even a small bite. Even the bacon in the waffle was tasteless and grisly. So... I ate my breakfast like a deprived caveman and left to a parking lot nightmare that the owner has been too cheap to fix for decades. We like to support local small business when visiting places so when we saw this place we decided to stop by for some late breakfast. We arrived at 11 and they were able to seat us right away which was surprising for how small the place was. Well they were able to seat us right away because they have no distancing in place at all. This is the first restaurant we have been to that doesn't have some tables unused to create space since COVID began. That should have been our sign to leave but we didn't want to be rude or abrasive. I ordered a waffle combo and asked about a substitution for the egg- something that was the same price on their menu- and was told they can't do substitutions. Okay, not the end of the world. When the food arrived the waffle was cold making the butter hard to spread and the syrup was watery and flavorless. The waffle was just basically soggy bread at that point. For a place named The Waffle Iron I was super disappointed. The bacon was good and the egg I didn't touch as it wasn't how I asked for it. My boyfriend ordered biscuits and gravy and it lacked flavor as well. Biscuits seemed like pillsbury biscuits from a can and the gravy was bland and disappointing. It was room temp at eat as well. The wait staff was overall polite but they were so flustered and complaining about how busy it was, which honestly I'm not sure why it was seeing as the food was lacking. The lady who rang us up kept glaring at me as my boyfriend paid. Not sure what the issue was but whatever. We dined out at several small local businesses during our stay and this was the only one that disappointed. We will not be returning. TLDR- food portions are small, lack flavor, and are cold. At one point she spilled iced tea all over our table, walked away, never returned to clean it. Good service, very nice country folks. Old western feel, with lots of western pictures on the walls. Plates they serve on are plastic. Clean but basic food kind of like the Waffle House. Unique little breakfast spot with a great atmosphere. Cool rodeo posters all over and lots of choices on the menu. Of course the food is most important which was seriously lacking (at least the Arizona Burrito). Stay away from any steak dish unless you like it as chewy as bubble gum, also way too many onions my dish it and just not very good overall. Bell peppers were in huge pieces and the combination of all this made it a 3/10 dish. Just take it off the menu. We've tried the new version of this restaurant twice. The eggs and hash browns have been cooked to perfection. Both times the bacon was greasy. The biscuits and gravy have no flavor and the waffle I had this morning was just Ok. I would have probably skipped a review if it hadn't been for the 4% surcharge for using a credit card. The sign advising customers of their credit card policy is near the register BEHIND a sign telling us how great the restaurant is. read more
