If you're like me then you're used to a light crisp waffle. This is not the place for that. These waffles are not what I have become accustomed to but they're amazing. I ordered the peanut butter & currant waffle. No idea what they do but this is an amazing waffle. Location is small and shared with Boise Fry Co. not ideal for large parties unless you're lucky enough to get one of the long tables that seat 8. They're all awesome. Love the concept, but the space (as it did for Guru Donuts) always kind of struggles on the weekend. It's cramped getting in the door, difficult to find a table, and a good chunk of the area is taken up by a sectional that's great to sit on but nearly impossible to eat at. Great experience coming here. Inside is so cozy and great for hanging out. The menu is simple and easy to navigate. The employees were cheerful and helpful. Very Fast service here. I got a slightly under cooked waffle- which made it even more delicious! Got local peanut butter and fresh made strawberry purée on the side. my coworkers happen to love this place so much and never stop raving about it so my hubby and I finally agreed to stop in and have some. the waffles aren't your average run of the mill waffles- they are liege waffles which have a higher sugar content and are a lot denser. they really have a great flavor and feel to them and I want to learn how to make them at home! my husband got the one with "bobocado" which has cheese, egg, bacon, and avocado with maple syrup and fresh basil. it sounds like a totally weird combo but it was very tasty! I got the classic- nutella, strawberry, and whipped cream! that was super yummy and very satisfying. i'm only giving this place 3 stars because I feel like it's overpriced for what you get. the portions are not very generous and the waffles are small. my husbands was $10+ and mine was $9+. I would put these around the $6-$7 range with what you get, but I think maybe they have to pay for the fancy location in front of the capitol building. they don't even have their own place, they share the space with BFC. What can I say... ? I've been ruined from eating a waffle anywhere else. I got the chicken and waffles which blew me away. The gravy was delicious, the chicken cooked to perfection and the waffle was quite literally the best I've ever had. The wife got the Bob deluxe which was equally delicious. Went there with my friends on a Saturday. Although they were packed, the staff were still able to manage the flow. They share a place with Boise Fry's Company so that sort of makes it harder to find a table. You order at the counter first then they will call out your name to get your food when you're done. I ordered their best seller, Bobacado Deluxe (see photo 1). And let me tell you, it was amazing. It has a rich avocado and bacon flavoring going on. I love how the egg yolk melts over the waffle when you break it. My friend got the Chicken and Waffle (see Photo 2) and they liked it too. The gravy sauce was creamy but not heavy. read more

Visiting Boise for a quick trip, and found this place on Yelp. I'm a big waffle fan, so this place sounded good. Fiance had the Strawberry waffle with Nutella which he enjoyed immensely. I had the Justa Bob with crumbled bacon and basil garnish and maple syrup with sliced strawberry. Very good! The Stubborn soda with lemon and acai was excellent! Mmmmm I can still taste my Belgian waffle & strawberries seriously my mouth is now watering just remembering it. This was my first Belgian waffle experience and I loved the slightly sweet taste in a perfectly crisp exterior. We also ordered the chicken & waffle and the savory dough was just as good and the gravy oh my gosh the gravy is killer. The chicken was super moist and fresh tasting not the frozen variety. The first time I have ever had chicken and waffles without any hospitality. I am extremely disappoint in the staff and their attitude. This is my first time in Boise and so far my experience with the locals and food have been nothing short of amazing, unfortunately on my last day I thought I try Waffle Me Up and this experience has left a bad taste in my mouth for the over all trip. I do not recommend anyone to support this establishment because the amount of disrespect does not deserve any support. I placed an online order and it was not ready when I got there and that is okay. ... but once I interrupted their conversation to ask about an order they told me to wait, and that is okay. But the amount of attitude when it came to my order was so weird. They apparently didn't receive my order but accepted it and confirmed my order. Well they were not very nice about explaining the situation and made a half ass meal and didn't want to help with anything. Pretty terrible over all experience ... oh ya and I was the only one in there so if they ain't getting take out orders then there is no excuse for at the very least a little help to get the process started. read more

I ordered their Strawberry waffle, and what you get is about half the size of a standard Belgian Waffle for (I believe) $7.00. There is plenty of Nutella, strawberries and whipped cream. The waffle itself was pretty good, the strawberries were clearly fresh, and everything else was great. My only gripe was that the portion was quite small for the price (I would have paid about $5-$6 for what I got). But perhaps that's the downtown tax at work! I was there as soon as they opened, so I didn't have to wait at all, but shortly after there was a long line. Despite them being not busy when I ordered, it did take a little while to prepare (freshness at a cost) perhaps about 5 minutes. Overall: expensive(ish), with good quality food and smaller portions. First, the waffles are good - very good even, but the rest of the experience left a lot to be desired. The employees seemed to care more about socializing with each other than working. It was really wild, the drip coffee was out and I told one of the employees it was empty. They promptly brought out another coffee dispenser...that was also empty. They seemed genuinely annoyed when I brought this to their attention. Waited about 30 min for coffee. It finally arrived as I finished eating. I soon discovered the creamer was also empty. Again, I politely brought this to their attention. The employee literally took the carafe, set it on the counter, and walked away. This gave me time to observe the state of affairs. There was a broom and dust pan thrown on the floor of the restaurant (check out the pictures). I observed no less than 5 employees literally walking over the broom and dust pan without picking them up. The dirty mop bucket was just hanging out next to the cash register. The kitchen area was surprisingly dirty. I waited about 5 minutes before another employee finally asked what I was waiting for and then brought out the half and half. The owner was there, giving a tour or something. He did not seem to notice what was going on. If it was my restaurant, I would have been irate. The bathroom was dive bar filthy - lots of weird stains (see photos). Again, the waffle are very good, but not in my opinion good enough to overcome the shortfalls. I tried this place for the first time in 2020, right after the lockdowns got relaxed. I was working from home and WMU is within walking distance of my apartment, so I decided to check it out. Glad I did! I recommend the Bobacado Deluxe. It is fantastic! Perfect, really. I would go there more often but mostly I eat keto, so a big ol' waffle as the foundation of a meal is not something that I can indulge in more than once in a great while. I don't typically dole out 5 star reviews without visiting a place more than once. However there are a few exceptions to the rule, and this is one of those times. Came here today for the Waffle Throwdown - West vs East. The event piqued my interest when a co-worker mentioned it, and being a NJ native with the mindset of a left-coaster, couldn't resist. Who doesn't love a good waffle? But these are no ordinary waffles. Along with some mouth-watering bites, I also received an education on what it really means to be a traditional Belgian waffle. From the flour, butter and sugar pearls combo, to the yeasty doughy mixture that's pressed into hot irons and comes out in irregular shapes of caramelized shells with a flakey yet chewy texture inside... every bite is just delightful. Waffle Me Up has some menu items that are always available, but today was all about the specials du jour. Two selections represented the East and two the West; each had a sweet and savory option. For $12, you got one of each, which I think was bargain for the quality. My friend and I split it, which left us out $6 (put tip) and with very full tummies. In the savory corners were a Chicken & Waffles mashup with hollandaise sauce and crispy potatoes on top, and a Chorizo with a mildly spicy crema and cheese crumbles. It really was a toss up, both were different but equally delish. The chicken was moist and paired well with the fruit syrup, and the chorizo was more unique and a very pleasant surprise. Glad we started with those, because the sweet ones were decadent. First, the S'mores with a nutella spread covered by a marshmallow-y spread and cinnamon toast crunch crumbles. Second, the Coffee treat with coffee flavored whipped cream and a chocolate-coffee flavored drizzle. The S'mores won that competition, but I'm also biased since I'm not typically a huge coffee fan. As for the vibe: it shares space with Boise Fry Co with communal seating, so don't be afraid to pull up a chair and meet your neighbors. The owner Hector was so incredibly friendly, cheerful and clearly happy to be serving his creations. We also had the opportunity to chat with the East rep Shane, who's actually an ID native, about his story. WMU strives to source all ingredients locally, which I 100% support. And the made-from-scratch means it's served warm and fresh. Go with a big appetite, you won't be disappointed. read more

Fabulous, mouth-watering waffles that are a perfect combo of sweet, crunchy, and soft. The strawberry waffle made me wish I could eat one every single day, with its slather of Nutella, generous amount of strawberries and whipped cream. It would be even better if they used real whip cream vs. canned. The service on my second visit was mediocre at best, which is funny because they use those obnoxious screens that make the customer choose to tip/not to tip (I'm not tipping when the worker acts like I'm annoying her by ordering a waffle). They also didn't bother to tell me my waffle was ready because they were all too busy chatting, with their backs turned to the restaurant/customers, so I had to go up to the counter and determine if it was my waffle on my own. And they expect tips? I'll keep coming back for the awesome waffles, though they're not cheap ($8 for the strawberry), not the customer service. read more
