In all honesty, didn't feel like cooking. First day off of work to handle a "honey do list", and didn't want to cook. Sierra my waitress was nice and cordial. Food was delicious! I came here with my family around 11am and were seated right away. We got a few mimosas off their specials menu and each one was amazing! I ordered the Pesto Chicken sandwich and it was made perfectly! My only critique would be that I would've liked a little bit of a thicker piece of chicken but the flavor of the pesto was delicious and the bread was toasted to a perfect golden brown. Everyone enjoyed their meals and they all came correctly, and within 15-20 minutes of ordering. Our waitress was very sweet and checked on us multiple times to make sure we had everything we needed. This is a very cute little breakfast spot in downtown Lincoln and the ambiance is really great. The service was also very fast and friendly. I ordered the chicken and waffle and the waffle itself was really good. I thought the chicken was a little bit greasy but that's pretty common for chicken and waffles. We came here the last two weekends and both times the food was very good. But the servers lacked personality or friendliness. They were nice, but just weren't personable and at times even seemed rushed. I added on a waffle to my Greek omelet meal both times and the first time I was charged 4 bucks. The second time I was charged 5 bucks and the waitress asked if I wanted a half or full waffle. This was never even asked to me the first time, yet I received a full waffle the first time. So I was charged differently for the same item on two different occasions. We will definitely be back. I just hope the next server we get is a little more friendly. read more

You still see remnants of Awful Annie's but the new owners have changed out some decor to add their personal touches. It's very clean inside and the staff is very friendly! The menu had a variety of breakfast and lunch dishes. We both decided on the All American. I got mine with biscuits and gravy and bacon. Hubs got his with wheat toast and sausage patty. Our food came out quickly. Now this is when it get critical. I asked for the hash browns and bacon to be crispy. I was bit reluctant because a lot breakfast joints will overcook. Not here. It was cooked to our liking, no complaints! Oh, and the biscuits were so fluffy and the gravy was TOPS! The portions were generous and priced right. I had to take half of my dish home. I had the garden skillet and it was inedible except for the two scrambled eggs placed on top. The amount of seasoning salt on the dish was shocking. Wow! What a great little place! We were visiting family in town from Orange County and decided to grab food on a Saturday afternoon. My boyfriend ordered the chicken & waffles and asked for a side of blueberry compote, which they actually had! The chicken was flavorful and juicy and the waffles were nice and fluffy! I ordered the taco salad and it was absolutely delicious. The salad mix was fresh, topped with ground beef, cheese, red onion and served with fresh warm flour tortilla crisps and sour cream and guac. So parking downtown Lincoln may or may not be your favorite, but its a small older downtown and some could appreciate it or understand the parking around the restaurant is somewhat limited for parking along the restaurant or additional parking around the corner and across the street. The staff are friendly and somewhat attentive at least on coming around for refills on drinks. Everything on the menu looked great from a light to hearty filling type food. I had corned beef hash with eggs over medium, hash browns (or you choose country potatoes) and sour dough toast. My buddy had french toast, side of hash browns, and big o'slab ham. Reading this may not seem like much food, but the serving size plate is above an average plate in my opinion. Food arrived literally within 5-7 minutes, hot and ready to eat. Our ordered food did not disappoint, but unfortunately our waitress kind of did, she never came by to see how things were going or if we needed more water or coffee. The other waitresses were kind enough to always come by and offer. Honestly, we were ok with it since these other waitresses came by because the food is what was important. So, I'm not here to knock Awful Annies, but the Waffle Shop won't disappoint you and actually could save you a trip to Auburn if you're in the area of Placer/Sacramento County. I've gone to this place since they started but will probably not return again for a few reasons. First they have raised their prices significantly over the past couple years. I tolerated that but now they have eliminated their senior discount which helped out. But today my wife & I took some friends there & was disappointed that they are charging an egg tax that jacked up the cost for the 2 of us up to $50 with tip. That $17 omelette is now $21. And that's without raising the price on the menu. When we were leaving I noticed a small sign ON THE FLOOR by the register notifying about the egg tax. If we would have known iwe would incur a 3 egg penalty (for each of our omelets, we would have gone for the $11 Waffles. Disappointed in where they are headed. If you're going to raise the price, just be honest & raise it on the menu. read more

We've been here before when it was under different ownership and recall always having to wait. Glad this isn't the case. We ordered the Chicken and Waffles and the Shop Special. Both were very tasty. Order the bone in chicken for the Chicken and Waffles. You won't be disappointed. Service throughout breakfast was excellent. Pricing is on the higher end. Our meal ended up being $50 including tip. On occasion, I have their waffles, evening I've tried is superb. The Staff here is always smiling friendly and accommodating to give their customers a positive and delightful eating experience. They have excellent iced tea brewed to perfection. The food is fresh. The ambiance is one of a family setting, warm and inviting because of the staff. Waffle Shop has become one of the favorite breakfast and lunch hangouts for locals, as the food is delicious, the staff is welcoming, and the restaurant is as "country" as Lincoln is. As you enter the restaurant, you'll be greeted by a friendly staff member, who will welcome you, seat you, place a menu on your table, and take your drink order. Today, I was welcomed to this friendly restaurant by Rebecca, who greeted me, with a cheery "Good mornin' darlin,'" which made me feel at home. The restaurant is at the end of a former warehouse, constructed of bricks - Lincoln isn't located in earthquake country - and the walls are a very picturesque brick, when combined with the "earthy" decor, makes for a very attractive dining room. The dining room is quite large and spacious, with a low partition dividing the dining room into two sections. The furniture is mostly tables, but many of the tables near the wall feature half a booth. The brick walls compliment hardwood floor. Since today was December 17th, the dining room was decorated for Christmas. The dining room features a "country" decor, which is appropriate, considering the rural nature of Lincoln, and western Placer County. As the sign says, "Welcome to the Country." To add to the atmosphere, country music was playing in the background. Both hostesses Kelly and Rebecca greeted every diner that entered the restaurant with a happy "Good mornin' darilin'," and greeted many by name. Waffle Shop is a downtown hangout for local diners. From the "All American Classics" of the "Breakfast" section of the menu, I went with "New York Steak," as today seemed like a good day to splurge. The menu describes the "Classic" section of the menu as, "Two eggs, any style, served with your choice of hash browns, country potatoes or fresh fruit, and biscuit and gravy or toast." Fresh fruit never was a contender, as I'm a "Potato" kind of guy, and hash browns won out on this foggy Friday morning. The piece of steak was around six ounces, which is enough steak to fill me up, but not enough to make me feel stuffed, as I'm not a lumberjack or a linebacker. The steak was seasoned with pepper, and cooked medium, exactly the way I ordered it. It was tender, juicy, full of flavor, and was certainly a worthy centerpiece to my fine breakfast. All "American Classics" come with two eggs, and the menu advertises a third egg add-on for an extra $1.95, but my breakfast included three eggs, without the extra charge. Thanks! The chef has talent, as my eggs were cooked perfectly over easy, exactly as ordered. Complimenting the breakfast was a good-size slab of hash brown potatoes, perfectly golden brown and crispy on the outside, and tender, chewy inside, just the way hash browns should be served. A slice of orange added a little "bling" to the main plate. The biscuits and gravy were served in a small skillet, which made for a stunning presentation. I enjoyed two fluffy biscuits, covered with creamy sausage gravy, with many chunks of sausage. The "New York Steak" breakfast is an amazing breakfast choice at Waffle Shop, as it's delicious, satisfying, and it will keep you satisfied for the rest of your day. It's no wonder Waffle Shop has become a favorite breakfast and lunch spot for Lincoln locals, as the food is amazing, the staff is friendly, and the atmosphere is "country," just like the cattle ranching of western Placer County. We had brunch at the Waffle Shop in Lincoln today. This is a relatively new restaurant in town and we had not eaten there before. Quaint decor and fantastically attentive wait-staff. Interesting menu, breakfast based ......... with several salads and sandwiches to expand your food choices. I order an iced tea and the Club Deluxe with French Fries. Avocado and bacon were added to my triple decker sandwich. The meal was delicious (more than I could finish). My partner selected the Pastrami Reuben with Fries. She was more that satisfied --- food quality, taste, and portion size. I was told that she would likely order again. Prices were very competitive. Visited on a Sunday morning around 10:00. Pros: - The food was pretty good overall, just some minor issues. Country potatoes were crispy and well seasoned, but the chunks of bell pepper and onion were underdone. Mediterranean omelette was tasty with plenty of feta, but they put the spinach on top instead of mixed into the omelette, which was strange. - Comfortable banquette seating and nice decor inside. Cons: - The service. We were greeted promptly but once seated it took a long time for the waitress to come by to take our order. Then after we ordered. It took over half an hour, maybe 40 minutes, before the food arrived. What is inexcusable is that the waitress never came by once to check on us or apologize for the ridiculous wait. We sat ignored the whole time. Then we asked for a refill of hot chocolate and received it, only to find that we were charged for the refill. We were not told the refill was not free when we ordered it. Verdict: - Not sure. Terrible service and wait times, but decent food. We'll probably stick with Kim's Country Kitchen across the street. read more

Ive been driving past this place everyday waiting for it to open and it finally opened a week before I was able to try it. When I walked in this place was packed, every table was full and people were flooding in left and right. I was interested to see how the service was going to be once I sat down. Before the Host left after seating me, she grabbed me some coffee so I had something to drink before my server came around and I saw she did this with every customer. Robin (I think thats how you spell her name) was so awesome she was back and forth to every table consistently checking to see if everyone was taken care of and also had full drinks. It was a great atmosphere everyone seemed to really be enjoying themselves; tables were talking to each other tables, it was a fun time. I was so amazed when my food got brought out to me and I sat there eating realizing that i had only been there about 10 minutes, (dont know if I just got lucky or what). I assume the cooks were just doing a great job of staying on top of the orders because like I said before this place was busy, it almost made me think it was a weekend when it was just a plain old Wednesday. I got the Shop Skillet theres eggs, potatoes, tomatoes, bell peppers, and cheddar cheese in it man was it good. I took a picture of my meal to show my friends just how good the food looked. I was pretty excited to show it off before devouring it I was extremely pleased so far. Once again my server Robin checked in multiple times making sure I was okay and was enjoying my meal + gave me a couple more refills which was great. Worst restaurant experience in Lincoln ! We used to come here when it was under different management ,and it was always a pleasant experience, but recently its gone way down hill. While the Eggs were great, the food came out cold , Waffles were soggy , and we found multiple pieces of hair in our Waffles, we complained and were met with extremely rude management who basically told us "Sorry if you don't like it, go somewhere else" . On top on this the location really needs fixing, our chair was broken, silverware dirty , and the bathrooms were gross.
