If you order one of the waffles you'll have to wait for them to prepare it fresh, it normally takes about 15 minutes. We tried the mozzarella and kimchi flavor and the red bean paste. Both were nice, I just wish there was a little more kimchi with the mozzarella one. But it was still good. Life hack, get a soft serve cone and a waffle, then dip together! They do also have a waffle you can order with the soft serve too. We've tried the soft serve a few times, they rotate the flavors each week. The overwhelming smell of the fresh waffles as you enter is so inciting, I had to try the Nutella one. The flavor of the day was blood orange, which my friend tried, but I opted for vanilla since I ordered Nutella waffle. I've heard so much about Wafu and was finally back at East End Market, so I decided to try them out. It is a very small shop, so now I see how they get these long lines I've seen on social media. I opted for the 3 for $12 waffles. I got two savory - grilled cheese and then tamago egg and cheese - and a sweet one with Nutella. The waffles were already made, so they packaged them up for me, and I was on my way. There were a couple of tables and chairs outside, so I ate up on the second floor. I thought the waffles themselves were ok. I am not sure how long they had been sitting out, but the cheese and Nutella weren't smooth. They had kind of congealed. I think I would have maybe enjoyed it more if they were fresh. With that being said, the waffles were compact and easy to eat. I didn't taste too much of a difference between my two savory waffles. The waffles themselves are a bit on the sweeter side, but I liked that contrasted with the savory cheese. You go inside to order at the counter, and then head back outside to wait, and orders are picked up from the little exterior window. They serve different types of taiyaki, from sweet to savory, and also have soft serve ice cream with flavored waffle cones or taiyaki cones that you can choose from. When we stopped in, they had French coffee or vanilla flavored soft serve, with the option to get them swirled together. I ordered the coffee in a custard filled taiyaki cone with Oreo dust, and must admit that I was a little disappointed with the small flavor and topping selection. Once we ordered, it did take a little longer than I would have expected to prepare, especially since the cones are not made fresh. I loved the aesthetic of it, but the flavor and texture of the ice cream were just meh. The taiyaki cone also seemed a little stale and was a little on the tough side. It wasn't bad, but I've definitely had better. The only place I know that has delicious taiyaki! The red bean taiyaki is my favorite, but lately the savory Kurobuta Sausage is a must try! Best fresh when it comes out. We also got the red shiso and apple sparkling soda type drink that was recommended by the cashier and we loved it , it was very refreshing I would get it again. My friend and I also got a wafu croc charm each, but unfortunately it was poorly made... for $10 each, the croc charm usually has a bigger circle for it to go in the croc hole but unfortunately we lost it from day 1 because the circle was too small. It fell out so easily and even loose just from first putting it on, disappointed we lost it from the quality. Finally got to check out WAFU at their new brick-and-mortar location upstairs at East End Market. They were previously a food truck, and I'm happy to see that East End has added another cool local business upstairs to replace Dochi. They are known for their Japanese style fish-shaped waffles, taiyaki, with your choice of different sweet and savory fillings. They also do soft-serve ice cream with rotating flavors (currently ube), and you can actually get a taiyaki as the cone. For my first visit, I decided to stick with the taiyaki combo (3 for $12.50). I tried the Custard Cream (sweet filling), Bacon + Cheddar, and the Tamago Egg & Cheese. The custard cream was very subtle and not too sweet like a very light dessert. The two savory options were my favorites, and the egg & cheese was like a delicious breakfast sandwich. It looks like they're constantly making waffles and then keeping them in a warmer to keep up with demand. Checked out WAFU on a Sunday afternoon after brunch. WAFU is located upstairs at the EASTEND Market. They had a steady flow of guests but the line and service moved quickly. Upon entering you can see items being made which is always a cool feature to watch especially for kids. The inside is small so place your order and head outside. They will call you when it's ready. I went here with my mom and we both had the Ube ice cream which was their special for the week. My mom is really hard to impress and she enjoyed the ice cream. However, Ube isn't always on their menu so it definitely was a treat. There were no long lines, and the girl prepping the waffle cone made sure it came off the press hot and fresh which was nice. Traditionally filled with anko or sweet red bean paste but here they add eggs, cheese, kimchi, even custard. I think I read that it is believed to have originated in Tokyo and is over 100 years old. The restaurant is on the 2nd floor of the Eastend Market Street complex off of Corrine Drive in Orlando. Parking is on the limited side but if you wait :05-:10 you can always get a spot. There are two cute purple tables upstairs, outside the takeaway restaurant or you can go downstairs and there are 20+ tables to sit at. The folks that work there are pretty mellow and polite, helpful as well. The gal that helped us offered advice on what to choose. Great combo of three. One sweet and two savory for $12.50. Plus she told us about a point club, free waffle after 10 purchased. The kimchi one is my favorite! The sweet waffle plays off the kimchi salty, acidic so well. Heard this place just open up upstairs at East End Market, so I had to check it out. They serve sweet and savory taiyaki waffel. Of course I had to try both. I got their seasonal cherry blossom flavor soft serve with vanilla. You do get two free toppings so I opt for pocky and hojicha powder. I enjoyed the seasonal chewy blossom flavor wasn't too strong for me even thought the chaise stated it would be powerful. As for the savory taiyaki I decided in the bacon and cheese. There was 2 orders ahead of me and it took about 15 mins for my savory taiyaki to be ready. It was pretty decent. Glad it was made fresh. The beading was decent and wasn't too dry or under baked. Other then the space, the only downside is how small the waffles are for their price point, but I guess in relation to the location and the neighboring area it's the perfect price. It does serve as a good snack. I ordered the kimchi melt and the tamago egg and cheese of the taiyaki waffles. I loved and highly recommend both flavors. The staff was friendly and quick, but the space is quite limited and barely has standing room for more than five people. There are small tables and chairs right outside if you need to sit and eat. We have been to this location many times. Unfortunately, after repeated bad experiences I felt the need to leave a review. We have been to this location multiple times around 7:30pm-8pm. When we arrived the employees told us that they had already cleaned up and were "done for the night". The posted hours are 9pm. We have begun to make it a habit to come earlier in the afternoon to avoid this issue since we drive nearly 40 minutes to get there. After seeing the Valentine's Day special strawberry taiyaki sando their Instagram page we decided to take our son and daughter to get this special menu item. When we arrived around 1pm she told us that they were still trying to find time to prep the item for them day. Again, it was 1pm. The special advertised Valentine's Day treat had not even been prepped for the day. I told her it was okay and we would be okay with waiting. She started by saying it would take 30 minutes to cut up some strawberries and whip some heavy cream and sugar together...still fine. We'll wait. Seeming annoyed by my patience, she added another 30 minutes "or maybe even longer". Overhearing the conversation with the girl working the cash register, the girl making the taiyaki comes over stressing how long it will take and we can come back tonight if we want. They close at 9pm. I told them we would not be coming back this direction. We live quite a distance away and are okay with waiting. They both seemed extremely annoyed and finally let me order and pay for it. It has now been over an hour. There is not a single person inside ordering right now. All three taiyaki machines are empty. Still no sando. Pretty sure they're making a point that I inconvenienced them at this point. Needless to say, we will not be returning. I accidentally stumbled on WAFU while at the East End Market. This cool little Asian waffle and ice cream shop is new to the area but a lot of fun! I ordered a waffle (which is fish shaped) with bacon, cheddar cheese, green onions and black sesame seeds. While it was near closing time, the staff was kind and eager to serve. The informed me that the waffles are made fresh and take approximately 12 minutes to be made. No problem! We didn't mind waiting! We enjoyed watching them make the waffles and they served us at the to-go window. The waffle was delicious! It was hot and super tasty! At the price of $5.00, it was good value for this snack! Returned to Wafu for my second visit to try something savory! So far, I've only had their sweet offerings, so today I came in for something new. For breakfast, I got the kimchi stuffed waffle and oh my God was it delicious! So excited to see Wafu in their new digs! I had tried them previously as a truck and I'm so glad to see them with a permanent (and awesome) home at EEM. I've already had all their sweet offerings so I decided to try the tamago and cheese which honestly if I could only eat this for breakfast for the rest of my life I would be a-ok with that. There was a huge line outside waiting on orders so after placing mine (plus an anko, a matcha cream, and a toasty) I grabbed a bottled hojicha latte, an adorable taiyaki pin, and headed off to wander the market a bit more. One word -- oyishi (delicious)! Taiyaki is something I grew up with as a child when traveling back and forth to Japan. It's love in a pocket, literally. It's commonly sold as street food.
