They were very accommodating to our party of 9 and we all sat at the same large table. The service was expedient and friendly. As for the ramen, each of us ordered something different as our tastes vary across the family, but no one was disappointed. Of the ramen joints near us, this one is heads and tails above the rest. I've been to Otsuka Ramen a handful of times just because it was near the area. There are plenty of Ramen places in the area and this is probably one of the first ones I went to. The Ramen is okay, but it just doesn't hit like before. The restaurant was a laid back vide with Japanese inspired themes and music in the background. Our server points us to our table and hands us menus to start. We always start out with an edamame appetizer and then go ahead and order the ramen. My partner got the spicy tonkatsu and I had wanted to do the "make your own ramen" option. I really wanted wagyu but didn't like the toppings it came with. So I just made my own, though it was very costly to add more toppings, so I just chose 2. Overall, the experience was okay. Came here in a group of 5 and there was plenty of seating including a very long table in the middle that could seat a very large group. The menu has just enough different types of ramen to order from, or you could opt to create your own. I ordered the Ultimate Tonkotsu White ramen. It was very tasty and had a generous amount of toppings in the ramen. I'm usually disappointed when my ramen is 90% noodle and not much of anything else which I understand might be the "authentic" kind, but honestly I prefer to have more substance in my ramen. We were in the mood for soup on this rainy day in Tampa and came upon this Ramen spot on Yelp. We decided to try it out. When you walk in, there are booths around the border of the restaurant, a long table that can seat 14-16 people, and some bar seating as well. We were greeted upon entry by a male employee. We asked to do take out which was a smooth transaction. He told us that it would take about 10 minutes so we sat on several chairs near the entrance while we waited which wasn't too long at all. We ordered their Spicy Miso Tonaktsu Ramen with Bok Choy 2x (Mild). We were not disappointed what so ever. We were a bit skeptical at first especially because we had never been there but was willing to try it out. We ended being very happy with our choice especially since it was a rainy night. The broth was savory and delicious. They gave a great amount of broth that we had enough leftovers for the night afterwards as well. We visited otsuka on a Saturday right at opening for a meal before a concert. We ordered their gyoza and takoyaki to start, which were both fantastic. I loved that they had such a great selection of Japanese beers! We also had the chili garlic edamame which were absolutely delicious. For mains, I ordered their classic ramen with corn. It was served super fresh and overall really good! I think the broth wasn't as rich as I would've liked, but it's not a tonkotsu after all. The noodles were delicious and the broth stuck to them nicely. The pork was just okay, but otherwise it was a delicious dish. The service at this place was also spot on. I've been here a couple of times before, once with great service and once with basically no service. I was right across the street shopping so I figured, let's give it one more shot. I'm really glad I did! My server was delightful, very sweet and welcoming and we had a fun chat about my car. I also noticed the other server having a good chat with her table about school and her future career path. I got a glass of water and when I decided on just soda, I also got a plate of lemons. Love that! Then I ordered the spicy miso tonkatsu and you can customize your spice level. I got hot which was a really good kick but not overwhelming burn your insides out spicy. It was also very easy to customize and leave off the things I don't really like in my ramen. The restaurant is very cute. It's got a lot of windows and it was afternoon so there was lots of natural light. Theres a little open area where you can watch the chefs at work. There's also TVs playing anime shows. Watching Sailor Moon is always good, though the captions were on...in Japanese! Authentic experience, me just enjoying the food and vibing while not understanding. Oops. Really enjoyed my meal. My one thing I'd point out is the prices are different than listed online. Everything has gone up a dollar - but everything has gone up everywhere so I took it in stride. Otsuka Ramen is already one of my go-to spots when I'm craving something warm and comforting. The vibe is cozy and laid-back; perfect for a quick bite solo or hanging with friends. I built my own bowl today with chicken broth and added beef, green onions, fish cakes, bean sprouts, and corn. It seriously looked like a rainbow and tasted just as good. Came here for a date night! The inside is pretty cute with lots of seating. The servers were super nice. As soon as we walked in they greeted us and seemed cheerful. our server made tons of recommendations. I ended up going with a simple tonkotsu ramen with dumplings as an appetizer. The dumplings were soo flavorful I would definitely come back for those. But the ramen itself left something to be desired. Tried Otsuka ramen last night. Great experience. Cozy little place in the corner of a strip mall off dale mabry and Lambright. Service was excellent our server was so funny and timely. Decided on the Otsuka miso hot ramen, was delicious. Portions were really good and flavor was great. Everything was to the right temperature and served hot! Ramen came out from the kitchen very fast. I opted for medium spice, but could have done hot. If you are spice adverse I would recommend mild or medium. I added more chili oil to mine! The meats were cooked good. I throughly enjoyed it. Good food. The spicy miso ramen was good. I highly recommend asking for an extra side of chili oil because it was not as spicy as I would've initially liked. Besides that, me and my friend enjoyed all of our food, getting ramen, spring rolls, and shrimp tempura. Everything came out quickly, and the atmosphere was quiet and peaceful. I first tried this Tampa Bay ramen spot over three years ago when there was way less ramen options in the area. Since then, they have only improved in taste, atmosphere, and hospitality. The shop is super cozy, mostly booths, with some of my favorite Youtubers on the TVs (including Rambalac). Not many people know that Kyoto and Otsuka ramen, both on Dale Mabry, have the same owner. Once you try both, it's easy to notice, even though the menu is slightly different. Since most people in Florida are ramen critics, that's all I'll say about that. Japan has many different types of ramen, depending on region and seasonal ingredients. Definitely recommend trying as many different kinds as possible before forming a strong opinion. For appetizers we had edamame and Gyoza, these dishes were fresh and delicious. As for ramen , we ordered the wagyu ramen , it was lacking taste and very heavy on all other ingredients besides meat . The Garlic lover was just okay - had 1 thin piece of pork and heavy on hard and chewy bamboo. Aside from the sub par food , it felt like the same temperature outside in the restaurant. Not only was the AC not working properly . The workers had some type of classic rock punk / indie music blasting . We could not hear each other speak and I had a headache so asked if they could turn the music down. It was just not a good combination of heat and eating hot ramen noodles . Really enjoyed Otsuka Ramen! It's definitely tucked away an unassuming, but once you're inside it's a real treat. Met an former colleague for a good catch-up lunch. We shared the gyoza, he got the Tonkotsu black garlic ramen and I got the pork chashu rice bowl with the sauces on the side. My only complaint was it seemed to be a small amount of pork. Nice decor inside and variety of seating. None of the staff looked happy and it was a bit awkward looking at them. Since it wasn't busy at the time we were there, they all just stood around the front, so you can't help but look. We ordered fried oysters and takoyaki as appetizers. I got the Ultimate Tonkotsu White. It's okay, the noodles weren't bouncy and the soup was bland. My husband said the same of his ramen bowl. I can't say that I would recommend this restaurant. We stopped here for lunch on a Saturday afternoon - it wasn't super busy, there were a handful of other customers there at the same time as us. The restaurant wasn't noisy or distracting, it was surprisingly quiet and quaint on the inside. I ordered the Tonkotsu Black-Garlic Lover Ramen - it was so yummy (I didn't get a before picture because we were so excited to eat, we just dug right in and I forgot) I ordered the create your own ramen for my daughter, we just did the chicken broth and ramen noodles, she's a picky eater and doesn't like anything else lol - but she ate almost all of it and said it was tasty! My daughter ordered the strawberry Japanese soda, she always loves those little sodas with the marbles. We also ordered hot sake - but our server didn't bring it out, towards the end we just asked for it to be removed from our ticket, and he did remove it, but then he brought out hot sake for us anyway on the house and apologized for forgetting it - that was really wonderful customer service, in my opinion. This is a competitively priced Ramen place. The food was great but the noodles seemed a little thin. The money that I saved I put it towards more broth. I had the curry special which was good. The veggies were fresh. I was not a fan of the egg. As a matter of fact I even asked if this egg was marinated and they said yes. Funny thing though, to me it tasted more like a boiled egg than anything else. I've had eggs at other places that are phenomenal but these were lacking. Of course I spent a lot more money in those other places. Also, I spent some money on the Matcha Sake which was nice and sweet and went well with the Ramen. Different flavors and textures were here, but I can't help but wonder if something else could have elevated the flavor in the veggies a little bit more. I've been here at least two other times and loved it. This time, it wasn't as epic. It was still great and a great value. The waitress was on point with the drinks. My vegetarian ramen was loaded with veggies and I didn't think it was lacking. Also the bowls were very large which made the meal very filling. They were playing almost club-like music while we were eating which was interesting to say the least and playing videos of people making bubble tea on their tvs while their menu didn't offer bubble teas.
