We ate here while staying 1 night in Needles. Food was fine, service was good, wine came out of a box but was appropriately priced. I would eat here again if I ever found myself in Needles, which is doubtful. PS. Gas prices are waaaay less in nearby Arizona than in Needles, CA but Arizona roads really suck. read more

Now that we had the chance to go back and do a dine in, I have some ups and downs about the Restaurant side of the Wagon Wheel, I know I commented while I was there but thee Teamwork was Outstanding, I almost wanted to swat them away their service was always there, and yet every table was full and being as far as I could see with the same vigor, as well staff had smiles even through the stress... I was told since day 1 of reopening it has been busy.. dont be surprised if there is a wait, it want be long, If I had any detractors... to me My dishes were a little bland, but a lil added salt and pepper always help and surely would not keep me away, I will be Happy to return to this location.... read more

One of the worst food I ever put it in my mouth. Got the chick fried steak and it was so tough and tasted so foul. I love chicken fried steak so I know how it should taste like. We are travel nurses and were thru Needles pulling our 5th wheel. We arrived late in the evening and went here for dinner. Not expecting much, we were pleasantly surprised! We had the pot roast skillet and it was FANTASTIC We went back the next day for breakfast and the breakfast was great. Warning. Servings are BIG! This place takes 1st place for the dirtiest restroom I've ever seen. I've been to public parks and rest areas that had cleaner bathrooms. The service was so horrible that that it made us feel invisible from the moment we arrived to be seated and after we were seated. We just had the best meal for weary travelers. This place was recommended by our hotel. I was a little thrown off at first by the condition of the restaurant itself. It could use some updating. But the food was excellent! The service was wonderful. my husband had the chicken fried steak and he practically licked his plate. This place is pure Route 66. The waitress even had regulars who I assumed were ranchers out here. I'm from New Mexico so this all seems so familiar, just with a touch of California. As we just crossed the boarder from Arizona, this place was just what we needed before crashing at the nearby red roof in. The food is good. Our traditional breakfast stop when staying in Needles (about once a year). The staff are friendly and efficient and we can always get a table. Omelettes and breakfast are excellent. Very old style with coffee-shop coffee, pre-buttered toast and little packets of Smucker's jams. We were surprised to see that what had been the parking lot on one side is now a Tesla charging station! Apparently the restaurant didn't own that lot. Fun stop on our way from LA to williams az. Nice down home friendly service. Let me start off by saying this would not be where you would order a "salad"..just go for the Americana comfort food. Had the philly and the texas toast pot roast dip. Hit the spot after being on the dismal 40 for a bit. Typical kids menu, cool old west decor. Games on the divider to keep the kids busy. Nice 1970's touch. The old school metal kid horsey ride still works.. the guy even gave us a quarter to ride it for free. My kid was over the moon. We would come back again. We stopped here twice on a road trip along old route 66, once at the beginning of our trip and again on the way home. I enjoyed the real, not faked, diner and truck stop vibe at this restaurant. It's filled with both RT 66 memorabilia and trucker information. There is also a gift shop. The tables have joke books and a peg game that isn't as easy has it looks. I suspect the game was one of the reasons we stopped the 2nd time. L won the game the first time, and K and I wanted to see if we could win too. They claim they have the best food on Route 66, I'm not sure if that claim is true or not; 66 is a long highway. I do agree that the food is really good. In fact the BLT had the best bacon I've had in a long time. I was sorry I only had the 1/2 sandwich with a salad rather than a whole sandwich. I kept thinking about it for days. We stopped again on the way back and this time I had an open face meatloaf sandwich. The meatloaf, potatoes, and bread were covered with wonderful brown gravy, and the meatloaf was on bread that had been perfectly grilled. I think I ate all the bread, but try as I might, I could not clean my plate. Our server was concerned that I did not like it; that wasn't the case, the portions were huge and I could never have eaten all of it. The service was friendly and fast. We were never checked up on, never asked for refills, plus we waited a good 20 to 25 minutes after we were done eating for check. We had to make a pit stop on our way to Flagstaff. And it was a VERY HOT day (112!), so the inside was not well air conditioned and had fans to bring in some moving air. The food was good, husband had their chicken plate with veggies and said it was good. Littles had grilled cheese with fries and ate it all. I had the bacon burger and it was tasty.
