Super cool dive bar with the best late night food. There's seriously no better place for a late night beer and burger than Wag's. I had a cheeseburger and the chili fries. The cheeseburger was decent but the chili fries blew me away. They were super good and the chili was flavorful. They came with lots of melted cheese. Overall I highly recommend this spot! read more

This place,TERRIBLE! 100% TOTAL thumbs down. The menu looked good but our food arrived BARELY room temperature. The ladies at the bar are friendly but mixed drinks are not their thing. If you're not drinking bottled beer expect less than mediocre. Here's the deal breaker, there are several older guys hanging at the bar, clearly "wags regulars" completely wasted stinking drunk and still being served. They made sitting at the bar VERY uncomfortable. The ladies knew the guys by their first names. I'm not sure if they're employees but one was filling ice and the other was wiping down tables. One of the guys made reference to the crowd in town since it was Pride Day in Frederick, he stated that you couldn't "swing a dead cat without hitting a homo" real classy place. Tall heavier woman with curly wavy blonde hair, pouring drinks for herself and her friends said she was done with all the "freaks" in town. A lot of randomness going on. The whole scene seemed unsanitary for a place that serves food. If you're interested in a total dive bar to waste your money on bad drinks and bad food this is your bar. My suggestion to you would be, KEEP WALKING. Fredericks downtown bar and restaurant scene has so many better choices to choose from. read more

Had not to Wags since 1990. Hasn't changed which is a good thing. Our server was great and I ordered the Wags Roast Beef. My wife ordered a corn beef sandwich and we shared an order of fries. The sandwiches were great as was the fries. It was as good as I remembered. Will go again. read more

I have eaten at Wags for years, but just finally getting around to posting a review. Wags is consistently voted the best burger in town. I wholeheartedly agree. The burgers are great, but best when paired with a big batch of cheese fries. Together... an outstanding meal. The restaurant itself is small and old. It looks just the same today as it did 30 years ago (although there was once a dartboard in the back). The staff are always helpful, efficient, and friendly. Wags is a Frederick original. My all time fav burgers. They don't win awards for no reason!! My favorite is the wags burger. Perfectly cooked with their special sauce. They way they cut their lettuce is so perfect too, it's like thin slivers of lettuce. BUTT their BUNS (hAHa) are my favorite part of the burger. They are so soft and light! If it were up to me, every burger in the world should have this bun. You don't feel the carb overload with these buns. Sour cream burger is a solid choice as well. Get the heck out of here. *It's just a single or couple of solid all angus patties that are covered in American cheese and bacon and served with a bunch of fixins. *I don't know what mayo brand that is... but it's freakin' delicious *The service was amazing- she was perfectly attentive *Weird Extra Points- I was working on my laptop, and it was perfectly dark enough in the bar to do so. If you want to drink in a place that harks of yesteryear. We're talking large mirrored walls surrounded by dark wood frames, low hanging drop down ceiling, and a long paneled bar. It's a small place, a bit of a dive, but full of personality. They serve delicious comfort food with friendly service. Happy Hour is available at tables or at the bar and they also have a Happy Hour late Friday night and one on Saturday. Their prices are reasonable, and if you come during a happy hour, get there right when it starts or expect to wait for a seat. I don't live in Frederick anymore but we try to make it to Wag's several times a year. Their burgers & fries have always been delicious, pair it with a Yuengling and you've got a lunch! I wouldn't say it's the best burger in town as they claim, but it's pretty good. I will say that the French fries were excellent though. I immediately got a seat, and was waited on promptly. My food came out quickly as well. I'd say the best deal is the alcohol; there seems to be all kinds of deals going on for booze, so I'll probably come back for that. This time I got a "buy one get one free" on beer. The place was clean, and the environment was really friendly. Music wasn't too loud; I don't think I even noticed it, which is a good thing for this type of place. I was with a friend who is from a more rural part of the states, and he said he felt quite at home. We went here with friends when passing through on a Saturday night. Luckily the wait for a table wasn't long (which is one of the reasons we went here with our toddler), but the wait for food was quite a while. The waitress was able to provide some crackers for our little one right away, which quelled the brewing storm.. But then once the food did come out? It turns out our compassionate waitress had somehow forgotten to put in the little one's grilled cheese order. Seriously? Luckily our daughter is big enough she was able to get by with some of our fries to start out. Speaking of the fries. They were pretty darn good. The loaded fries are a bit much, but the sandwiches are amazing - I highly recommend the Fat Jack. This place is small. Like, really small. Awesome restaurant - great service and the award winning burgers are amazing. Parking: it was a Thursday night and we had to park in a parking garage because all of the street parking was occupied. The parking garage was wel within walking distance so even on a chilly night, it wasn't that bad. And it was nice to experience the vibes of a new city. It was pretty busy so there were a lot of people walking around. Outside presentation: the restaurant was built basement level so you had to walk down a small flight of stairs from street level to enter restaurant. No big deal, it added more mystique based on the architectural design. Inside presentation: pretty small inside, enough room for 75 people or less. However, this didn't affect my experience because the capacity wasn't full. The ambience was pleasant, definitely a pub type of vibe, but with class. Service: AMAZING. Our waitress was friendly, she was informative and helpful when we weren't decisive enough. And I love servers who will take control or aide customers in a professional manner when customers are indecisive or need guidance. She was on top of our order, drinks and checking on us frequently. She was great. FOOOOD: 5/5 - the menu was consolidated, not to many items to confuse customers and just enough items to make a customer feel like they have a good selection to order from. I ordered natural cut cheese fries and they were mouth watering, addicting and cooked just right. The award winning burgers were everything I hoped they would be. I requested my bacon cheeseburger to be cooked medium and it was perfectly cooked. The bun was lightly toasted and the cheese was melted perfectly. Truly mouth watering. THE ONLY REASON I gave it a 4/5 overall was because they didn't serve wings!? I expected an establishment like this, based on the entire look and feel, to serve wings. Yes, Wags serves up a really good burger. I got the Wag burger medium-rare. It comes with tomato based sauce, onions, provolone cheese, and chips. The burger was perfectly cooked and came out like in five minutes. I ordered two draft Yuengling to wash it all down for around $10-something, on a hot 95 degree day. If you love beer and burgers, Wags is your place. Wags is probably the best burger & beer combo value in Frederick! P.S. You can have any beer you want on tap, as long as it's Yuengling. And if you go on Friday nights, they have BOGO (buy one, get one free) on all rail drinks and yuengling from 930 or 10pm to close. read more

Wags!!! Food- I had the Rueben, it surpassed expectations. The fries were outstanding. I am defiantly coming back to this place to have the same meal. Place- It looks like an old bar. It is an old bar. Doesn't smell of smoke, and you'd be afraid to bring you kids in at first glance. It wasn't busy when we went, we sat in the back and our kids enjoyed it. Service- The lady working the bar was also our server. She did a good job and even took time to show my kids a magic trick after my kids tried showing her one. She was very nice and didn't get phased my by grumpy father-in-law who was complaining about their coffee.
