It was pretty busy with large groups, so the host did a really nice job of seeing us within a reasonable time of our arrival. Since the entire table has to select the same price set, our group decided on the silver level sitting ($55). We figured was a good middle option as it included two massive seafood platters which contained snow crab legs, scallops, fillets of white fish, squid and clams. The waiter also suggested the spicy Sichuan hot pot soup base, which had the perfect amount of spice, but was not the typical mala numbing taste. He encouraged three cuts of their best choice meats, one specialty platter per person, unlimited sushi and nigiri and a soft drink of choice with refills. We decided to get an array of special items since it was one per person, so we're all able to share the beef tartar (served with Pringles) and the seared wagyu nigiri which were our top picks of the evening. I don't mind the bone marrow here, but I remembered it was a little too oily (which I get it is), but it was a bit much for me last time we ordered-so we passed on that. Our server was extremely attentive and helped clear our table as more plates and bowls were added for sauces, rice, and seafood shells. I'm also genuinely impressed by the quality of food. This is probably my fifth or sixth time here, as it's closer to where I live without having to go all the way to Chinatown and the quality is extremely consistent. We also ordered 4 orders of the smoked salmon nigiri, the yellow tail and the regular salmon for the table. To our groups surprise, we finished it all! We also were able to go up and make our own dipping sauces, and a variety of fresh vegetables for our individual hot pots. They had slices of king oyster mushrooms, hydrated shiitake and seafood mushrooms, but I really would've liked to have the option of enoki mushrooms as well, but I do understand they're a little bit on the pricier side. I also really liked the fried tofu cubes, firm tofu, and their bok choy. All the vegetables were pretty fresh for having it be buffet style. I wish there was more of a variety of noodles as most Hot Pot places have vermicelli, ramen, fresh noodles, and udon noodles. Also heads up- this restaurant you had to order your udon noodles separately as they were not at the buffet. My main suggestion of the evening was to have the seafood platters snow crab legs pre-scored as it was fairly difficult to try and crack open the claw with the fork and chopsticks provided. Overall, I would definitely come back for the quality of food and the reasonable prices. Beautiful restaurant with very modern decor that feels grand and full of flair. Our server was fantastic and checked on us regularly and gave great recommendations on what to order. We opted for the shabu-shabu only and went with the Diamond Set, which comes with unlimited specialty dishes like sweet shrimp, wagyu tartare, and bone marrow. The appetizers alone were a huge highlight for me. I got several plates of the bone marrow and sweet shrimp, which would have run up a huge tab at most other restaurants, but here were included in the set. Been here a few times for both shabu and bbq, and truthfully never been too impressed. For shabu, the spicy Sichuan Wagyu broth is pretty decent and flavorful, the golden chicken broth was a little bland. I'd say the spicy sichuan is more flavorful than Happy Lamb's, but the golden chicken here is not similar to happy lamb's golden cabbage broth whatsoever so don't get that idea!! The meat seems like good quality but the veggies and other sides are very limited compared to other hot pot places. No fish balls, pumpkin, watercress, etc.. it's nice to have nigiri and everything but for the price, I think I'd go to happy lamb instead for shabu/hot pot. Great quality of meat for bbq, no complaints. I love the handrolls and sushi! Although some items are not quite as flavorful as other places, like the corn cheese. I love that you get unlimited meat for a great price. To me, it's a bargain here. I tried both silver hotpot and gold barbecue and both were great but I prefer barbecue. I absolutely LOVE Wagyu so I was excited to see the A5 and Wagyu from not just Japan but also Australia. I felt like I was getting pretty decent meat for the States considering every time I come back from Europe or Africa the meat here tastes like rubber to me. Kudos to good quality meat. Only main downside is the fact that you can't make reservations for barbecue and it can be a long wait. You can wait at the bar and have a drink but it's easy to go over the 2 hour parking limit (for free parking) in the garage when waiting on barbecue, so try to go during the week versus weekends so you can take advantage of some of the happy hour specials and less crowded days/nights if you're into the discount thing. They no longer give you Japanese version. The taste is different. We arrived around 5:45 PM and were seated at about 8:00 PM, so expect around a 2-hour wait. My tip: come early, add your name to the list, and go shopping nearby! The meal consisted of: Mushrooms, Lettuce, 12 oz each of Rib Eye, Sterling steak, Short Rib, Masami Finger meat, Masami Zabuton steak, and Masami top Sirloin They bring a small grill to your table so you cook your own food. Pricey, but you definitely get your money's worth of A5 wagyu meat. My friends and I did the gold tier which was around $78 per person. To make a reservation for 5 or more people for Japanese bbq, you put down a reservation fee of $20 per person. The appetizers were yummy. Nothing mind blowing but being able to get AYCE nigiri is pretty great value. The rice texture was a little hard for me. My personal favorites were the salmon nigiri, the seared salmon nigiri, and the yellow tail carpaccio. Our server did an amazing job. He was super attentive, courteous, relatable and funny. Shout out to Danny! Thanks for taking great care of our table, especially when we had a 2 year old to entertain. I highly recommend coming to X Pot to celebrate special occasions. The wagyu meat is high quality and melts in your mouth. You can definitely overcook it, so make sure to watch the meat, especially the thinner slices. The standouts were the chuck ribeye, the beef tongue, the ribeye steak, and the shoulder cut. You get 2 hours of validated parking so you kind of have to make sure you time everything well with the check and eating at Wagyu House. I've been wanting to try this place for the longest time. There is another location in SoCal, which is closer to me but every time I've made my way down to SoCal from the Bay Area, I never have the chance to try it out. I happen to find this restaurant in Chicago too, which excites me so I knew I had to give it a try. This restaurant is similar to XPOT in Vegas and Mikiya Hot Pot where they have several different options/packages to choose from. We usually go for the gold package (there's silver, gold, and platinum). The SoCal location usually has the spicy Szechuan soup but this location only had spicy miso, however, they did for a limited time offer the spicy Szechuan soup-- which I was super happy about. Each packages comes with appetizers you can choose from and some meats that are unlimited. Everything tastes fresh and delicious. Service here was not too terrible but did feel like we had to flag some people down at times. Nothing overly difficult to do though. The setting was beautiful and spacious. Well lit, cozy, romantic, and like fine dining. Parking wasn't too difficult to find. We came here on a Monday night so we were able to find parking right outside. While it's a nice addition, it doesn't stand out and feels more like an afterthought compared to their stronger focus on meats. I also appreciate the sushi options that are included in the menu. The fish is fresh, but the sushi rice feels a bit off, so I usually stick with the carpaccio, which is consistently great. One downside I've noticed is that the Wagyu nigiri isn't as good as it used to be--the piece of Wagyu is bigger now, but it doesn't have that melt-in-your-mouth texture anymore. On the service side, it was excellent. Our server was busy with another table, but the manager stepped in to take our order. One of the few truly underwhelming hot pot experiences I've had. Maybe all the hype and online ads set my expectations too high for The X Pot. We came for my birthday, and while I made a reservation online, I didn't realize it was only for hot pot option. We went for the highest-tier package at $98 per person, which was all-you-can-eat. The soup broth was bland and lacked depth. We had two rounds of Japanese wagyu cuts, but the presentation was nothing like the online photos. Instead of a gorgeous display, we got cheap-looking yellow plastic plates and utensils. The sauce bar was nearly empty, and there were hardly any vegetables to balance out the meal. To make matters worse, no sause bowl, no plate, no tongs or long chopsticks for handling raw meat. When we asked, the waiter said they were still washing them, leaving us without proper tools. I've realized that wagyu might not be ideal for hot pot--its fattiness becomes overwhelming after just a few bites. Without enough vegetables to cut through the richness, the melted fat just turns the broth into something unpleasant. The staff was the one bright spot. Our server was amazing, doing their best despite the circumstances. The ambiance was over stimulating with bright LEDs, and the seat I had seemed broken, which made eating uncomfortable. Overall, far too many things went wrong. My partner and I ate in silence, both of us thinking about the $200 we could have spent elsewhere. We did the ACYE wagyu hot pot (Gold Set) and we were very happy with our choice. They start you off with a some of each meat and offer more once you've eaten the first 9 plates. There was also a sauce bar and vegetables/fruits bar that you can get your own stuff. They also had a curry wagyu rice that you can self serve (honestly skip). We ordered a few appetizers and sushi that are also included, and it was okay if you're in the mood for it. The seafood platter was delicious and came with abalone, shrimp, fish & scallops. At the end they offer ice cream and the coffee one was delicious. Our server, Juan, was super attentive and stopped by multiple times to check in on us. You can see the cuts of Wagyu in the freezer in front! I opted for their Gold BBQ menu as it offers more specialty items. They didn't have any bone marrow so it was a little upsetting we didn't get to try it, but we decided on a few other things that were great! I loved the ribeye and shoulder! They also have an area where you help yourself to side dishes, as well as dipping sauces. I 100% recommend this menu if you're trying to fully optimize your Wagyu palate. Our server. It really didn't seem like he wanted to be there. Service took forever and we were left with empty/dirty plates crowding our table. It honestly looked like our server prioritized other tables before servicing ours. Often times I observed him walk our direction and turn the other direction before reaching our table.
