We've been to Maui multiple times before, but always stay on our Resort on the West side. This time we decided to spend the week before our resort on other places on the island. Our first three nights were spent in Wailea at the Wailea Grand Champions. The check in was confusing, because you actually need to go to the strip mall a few stops before you get to your designation, which is where the office is. Everything else from there is smooth sailing. The property is GREAT, the Villas, AMAZING. I felt right at home the minute I walked in. Beautiful, homey, decorated awesome. Right on the golf course. The toiletries were fantastic and I actually took a picture to purchase that same brand once I get home. The pool area, hot tub area, all great. The staff, WONDERFUL. If there were anywhere I would recommend or come back to, it's The Wailea Grand Champions.

Unit 183. Prior to booking we just took a look at all the available units and where they were on a map. We wanted a ground floor and something near the pool, so our son could swim. As you can see in the pictures, this unit is gorgeous. There aren't any views but it's okay. We wanted to stay in a non-hotel setting and this feels more residential. There is also a washer dryer unit on the lanai. It's a very quiet place, no smoking in the entire place, nice and clean.

Beautiful and stunning view!!!! We got a 3 bedroom 2 bath condo with the view of the golf course at our patio. My sister is picky, but she absolutely loved the place! I'm not sure the layout of the other units, but when I searched there were not many 3 bed 2 bath. Ours is located on the ground floor at the very end with lots of privacy at the balcony but not so much in the master bedroom since the patio faces the parking lot. The grounds were very nice too. I love the green lawn outside and it's amazing to walk out there in the middle of the night and lie on the grass to watch the stars. The staff is amazing! Check in office is separate from the complex but it's only couple blocks down. They're all very friendly and you can rent beach chairs and umbrellas directly from them, have them delivered to your door the next day. Also there are coupons for golfing and other stuff. We had great memories in this house!

Grand Champions is the cost effective housing when traveling thru Maui! Located in Wailea you feel the Aloha spirit as you make the drive from the airport. Many of these unites have full time residents but others are rented for your pleasure. Benefits is the your close to The Mall of Wailia which has many 1st class shops & restaurants like Ruth Chris, Tommy Bahamas , Gucci , Louis Vuitton and even an ABC store. Also your within walking distance to the Wailea Tennis Courts should you bring your racket. You also have access to 2 swimming pools which have chairs , bathrooms and BBQ's available for your use. Beaches are very accessible and very close. You have McKenna Beach close by and your within a few mile drive to Kihei and those public beaches. Each unit is very different so I'd recommend doing some research before you rent. But as they say in real estate it's all about location location location. Good luck and have fun.

In A Nutshell: -Wailea Grand Champions is the perfect place for you to spend your time on Maui. -It's located in my favorite town, Wailea, which is central to all parts of Maui. -If you love golf, then you can play on the property. -The luxury Shops at Wailea is a short walk down the road. -We stayed in unit #140, which is a 2 bedroom/2 bath fully-furnished condo. -This unit had everything from free HBO, keyless entry, washer/dryer, fax/copy machine, full kitchen (i.e. full oven/mini-oven, rice cooker, fridge w/ ice maker, any utensil you can think of), plus a nice patio w/ very nice views. -You even receive a welcome gift of chocolates & personal welcome message. -If you ever think about retiring to Maui, I highly recommend booking a stay at Grand Champions. -Many of the units are owned & lived in by residents and you get a nice feel of what it would be like living here. -It's very, very quiet here. -You also get a dedicated parking space close to the unit. -I also liked the fact that housekeeping doesn't come everyday (they come every 3rd day), I don't like to use new towels everyday & also like to have some privacy. -The office to check-in is not at the property, but it's a short drive to: 34 Wailea Gateway Place, #A102. -If you are a VIP then checkout is 6pm. Overall, my wife & I plan to stay here again in the near future, we really enjoyed the customer service (shout out to Kenna!) during check-in & the condo felt like home.

In comparison to some other brands such as Aman, Four Seasons Maui felt below average given its price point. The resort itself felt small and a bit old. The service felt very below average and inconsistent. One employee would tell you the sun umbrellas at the pools near the bushes are not adjustable while literally 2 mins later another employee came and adjusted the sun umbrella next to me and also mine when I asked. When we went to the adult pool we were told by one employee that we needed to be on a waitlist. After 3 hours when we finally got notified that it was our turn and went back we noticed other guests just literally went and grabbed empty benches and staffs were just setting the benches up for them(no, they didn't even know there was a waitlist)... Our canoe experience at the last day of our stay got canceled due to high wind and the concierge never notified us etc. Many employees gave me the vibe that they don't really care. They just gave me fake smiles and robotic responses. Maybe Amond would take better care of us...if he is still alive... The view was very amazing. We even spotted whales many times.

From start to finish, our entire experience was absolutely wonderful. The hotel staff were all extremely kind and engaging, offering helpful tips and suggestions. We had nothing but positive interactions with the valet and the front desk. The staff that work at the on-site restaurants were also lovely. Our ocean view room was clean and spacious. It had all of the amenities we could hope for and the shower had wonderful water pressure. My only request would be that there was a shelf in the shower to put the shampoo, conditioner, and body wash, as we ended up having to put them on the floor and bending over in the shower while pregnant is not an easy task. The linens were soft and I appreciated the opportunity to earn food and beverage credit or Hilton reward points if we opted out of having our room cleaned each day. The blackout curtains in the room were also wonderful. We thoroughly enjoyed watching the sunset from our balcony each evening and listening to the live music that was performed each night down by the pool. There was ample pool space with plenty of pool chairs, both in the sun and in the shade. Access to the beach was extremely easy. While we were there, we also took part in morning yoga, access to the complementary aquatic activities, a sound bath under the full moon, and the infamous luau. I also booked a prenatal massage at the spa, which was absolutely divine. Access to the Courtesy Car to drop us off at nearby restaurants for reservations was extremely convenient. We appreciated the complementary reusable water bottles and the local snacks and beverages that were restocked in our mini bar. All in all, it was an absolute incredible stay and the next time we find ourselves in Maui, we will absolutely be returning to the Andaz.

Additionally, the decor and staff showcased the incredibly rich cultural history of the area. The diverse flora around the resort was great as well. The parking lot was small as they were doing construction on a large portion of the lot. It was a struggle to find parking at times during our stay. Despite the limited parking, the valet parking garage with plenty of parking was still closed off. The room service was great. Staff were courteous and professional and service was provided very quickly. I forgot my phone charger in my car and staff went to the car and delivered the charger to my room. This was such a great example of service. Amenities such as a shave kit, soaps, additional coffee pods were also provided throughout our stay. One thing that was not provided that was requested, however was a lint roller. This seems like a simple accommodation that should be available at a 5-star resort. The room was clean and had great views of the resort and ocean. A corporate event was being hosted on the property which had a fire dancing ceremony. We were able to watch this from our room which was pretty cool. The only issue with the room was some difficulties connecting to the TV and accessing YouTube and Disney+. We ended up giving up on using the TV and watched TV on our laptop. Overall this was a wonderful stay, but fell a little short of what a 5-star resort experience should be.

Apparently it used to be a Japanese club called the Diamond, but was converted to a hotel after seeing the club die out. I booked this hotel for a variety of reasons. The biggest reason being that this is an adults only hotel. Upon doing my research of Maui, I figured that the south west side was probably going to be better for calmer waters and a more tranquil place for a relaxing vacation with my wife who is expecting. I am glad I chose Hotel Wailea rather than other hotels around the area including Grand Wailea or Four Seasons. Another reason is that I was able to book directly on their website and save some money on their insider rate (nonrefundable). I always try to book directly so that it benefits the hotel. It also benefits me because I was able to save 30% on the rate and got a few bonus perks. It was a little bit of a gamble due to the extreme weather that they had prior to coming, but luckily everything worked out and the weather was beautiful during my stay. Being a smaller hotel, I noticed more attention to detail and much better service than any other hotels that I have stayed at in the past. Upon coming to the hotel with my rental car, the valet service greeted us and took care of all our bags and showed us to the check in area. We were greeted with a flower lei for my wife and a kukui nut lei for me. The check in process took a few minutes to explain the layout of the hotel and details. We got a free valet parking since we stayed 5 days at the hotel and also got a $100 dining credit. I am glad we got the valet parking since I read that the parking spots can be tight and distant from everything. The valet took us to our stay with a golf cart loaded with our luggage. Upon entering our suite, there was a welcome gift including some chocolates and alcohol free champagne. The suite is filled with everything you need. They have a fridge stocked with soft drinks and sparkling water that is all complimentary. They also have bottles of water and you can request more. You are able to take beach chairs, umbrellas, parasol and towels to the beach. They have shuttle rides that can take you to nearby area up to a certain distance. They will also pick you up if you call them. The shower and bath had the best water pressure I've seen anywhere. The bathtub was huge and it actually filled relatively quickly. They have a TV in the bedroom and in the lounge area. The outdoor patio provided a really nice view towards the ocean, garden and sky. I stayed very close to the gym which was a huge plus. I was able to use it every morning and was the only one there every morning prior to sunrise. Working out pre-sunrise to sunrise in a open door setting was a great experience. They have some unique free weights that mimics a natural wood look. There is a row machine, a coupe of treadmills, elliptical and peloton for cardio. Other basic machines that uses a pulley and weight system are available. They have several yoga mats as well for any floor exercises. The pool area seemed busy during the day so I went after sunset mostly. The water is heated so it is very comfortable. There is a beautiful sunset view from the restaurant or from the birdcage. Depending on who you ask and what circumstances they have, it could vary what expensive is, but it is certainly not cheap or affordable here. You are paying for more than just a view here. The entire experience is curated for you. The staff here does a phenomenal job at keeping this property well-maintained and running. The restaurant and hotel has a premium price, but for a premium experience. There are other experiences here that you can book on their website or contacting the front desk. The front desk, housekeeping and valet were all so easy to contact with the phone in the room. We tried the in room dining once and although it took some time, it was a nice experience. Known for its tranquil adults-only atmosphere, attentive service, and luxurious amenities, Hotel Wailea offers a beautifully curated and premium Hawaiian getaway that is well worth the high price tag.
