My local Toyota dealer could not look at my truck for 3 weeks. So I called Waite Toyota they said they would work it in as soon as possible. 2 weeks later with little to no communication unless I called for an update..they looked at the issue at hand. The truck was in limp mode. Finally I recieved a call at closing time on a Friday saying they couldn't fix it due to a wiring issue in the dash. Parts were nonlonger available threw Toyota. Wierd. That being said the truck was a 2006 tundra SR5. So with lots of disappointment asked dif there were any options for me to find the part. No help there. I was also informed of a hole in the frame next to the bulk head. With disbelief I responded not possible it was just inspected 11 months ago. The sticker on the windshield showed an inspection due in a few weeks. Knowing my truck would not pass inspection they continue to charge me for labor hours. 3 hours labor plus tax on a vehicle they knew would not pass inspection in a couple weeks. I paid the bill and had a toe service go get the truck. 1 hour away. Upon picking up my truck one of the service people came out and told the man picking up the truck that mice had gotten under the dash and ate through all the wires. Also proceeded to tell him there were several holes in the frame. The gentlemen who picked my truck is called me and asked if I knew about these issues. Of course that is not the story I got from service when the bill was due. I brewed for a week over the integregratity of this service department I had never dealt with prior. On Monday I called and asked to speak with the top manager asking why his people carried out a 3 hour labor charge on a vehicle they knew wouldn't pass inspection in a few short weeks and asked for a refund. Dan was his name and said let me investigate this and i will call you back tomorrow. 2 days have gone by and i have not heard back. I guess the moral to this story is momey definitely a prior not the customer. If i had gotten an hinest call from a concerned department i would have said stop tight there dont do anything its not worth it..but noone called me and they must get that teachings from the manager who never called me back. ​I have to add the rollback driver took photos of the rotten frame and sent them to me. It would have been nice if the service department could have sent me the pictures and gave me some advice not to put any money into this vehicle. read more

As stated in the original review, my son is an adult with Tourette's Syndrome and can be convinced to buy almost anything. He wanted a pickup truck. When he sent us pictures of the truck at Waite, we told him it looked like a lot of rust was disguised with paint and putty over the wheel wells, bed, and rocker panels. He liked the looks of the truck and bought it against our advice. Waite even dared to sell him rust-proofing, and the vehicle was full of rust already! Fast forward, he owed $13K on a vehicle that was literally falling apart from rust. The putty and paint they used to cover everything up has fallen off. The truck would have never made it until the end of the loan. It's pretty bad when you're overjoyed someone slammed into the back of your vehicle, and it's totaled! Beware when you purchase a used vehicle from this dealer. read more

By far the worst Toyota dealership I've been to. I've been a loyal Toyota customer for over 14 years now so it's sad for me to leave a review like this. The old ladies that work in the service department are extremely rude. I feel as though I'm an inconvenience just by coming into their facilities. The employees don't even acknowledge my existence, or ask if there's anything they could help with. It is amazing how much a little respect and training on customer service skills could make all the difference. We'd give 10 if we could. After our (former) 2021 Prius Prime was T-boned by a motorhome mounted on a Dodge Ram truck at 50 mph, we need a new car. That one was total - yet we walked away with only broken ribs. (Toyota's side airbags and emergency operator system worked perfectly). After other Toyota dealers harassing us with bait-and-switch offers for Certified Used Toyotas, which NOT Priuses, not small, etc., I put a call in to Waite Toyota in Waertown - about 5 hours from our house - on a Friday. Matt Spencer was the salesperson I reached, and he was a gentleman from start to finish. We drove home with our replacement 2021 Prius Prime (this happened to be an LE) Sunday. No upsells, no hassles about money or manager intervention, we got an additional 800 dollars off (we asked for 1,000 off) a good 2021, just like the car that had SAVED OUR LIVES, and in a safe, BRIGHT color that can be seen in all weather. All paperwork, taken care of fast. IN ADDITION, he sent a handwritten, personal thank you note, that was not just BS but showed he remembered us. Don't go to their service department. They will rip you off. My mother brought her car in after having it inspected and serviced by our neighbors HIGHLY REPUTABLE garage. Instead of just resetting the computer because the battery had died, which she asked them to do, they inspected the car and performed $120 worth of services after making her wait 3 hours (with an appointment she had scheduled 3 weeks before). The great part is, they didn't reset her computer. They refuse to do anything else unless she buys a new $1600 gas tank from them. read more

I've been a loyal customer for 28 years. Unfortunately, the one time I requested a "test drive" or a loaner during a 1-1/2-2-1/2 hour inspection for a factory recall on my new RAV4, they flatly and surprising rudely refused. Very Very Very disappointed that zero accomodation was considered. I've never purchase a vehicle anywhere else and had 97% of service there since 1986. Great experience here. Came in for an oil change and they gave me the special they were running, which included a multi-point inspection and tire rotation for no extra charge. When my vehicle was finished, the man that helped me at the reception desk sat down with me and went over the inspection. Very honest and not the slightest bit pushy. Want to get ripped off? Take your Toyota to Waite Toyota for Service. My truck wasn't shifting properly - brought it in on Thursday 8/8. Stated they couldn't get to it until 8/19. Fine - Diagnosis = $$. Transmission flush = $$$. Transmission cooler lines = $$$. Parts, Labor, all-in = $$$. Now the headline. They mysteriously have a slew of cancellations and my truck is now complete 1 week early? They state the truck isn't shifting into 4th gear and I need a new transmission - $4000 cost plus the work they already completed. This is a flat out lie. I have the truck flat-bedded to my mechanic in Buffalo - A Buffalo area Toyota dealer and my mechanic validate they could have performed the identical work for half the price, and, 200 miles later, the truck is fine, shifting fine, transmission is fine, and no transmission replacement was necessary. One last comment - as you enter the service bay to register, they have an "alignment" tool to determine the alignment of your vehicle. Of course mine needed one, and surprisingly, the previous 12 vehicles entering the bay also needed "alignments" - what a shocker....Want to get ripped off? Just got my car fixed here and they were very helpful and friendly. I made the mistake of taking my car to some local places and they of course messed up my car. Toyota fixed what the other shops messed up and did a great job of diagnosing what the real issue was. The reason I'm not giving them 5 stars is because they are a bit pricier than the Toyota I used back home in NC and they were a bit slow. I was there for a few hours even with an appt (but I guess that's normal for most garages). Joel at the service department helped me out though because they had some coupon that if you spend over $400, they give you $50 off the price which is nice. He also gave recommendations on things that could be fixed eventually, but no one bullied or pressured me into getting anything I didn't need. If you want your car fixed properly, take it to the brand dealership, don't trust these small garages to fix things properly. read more

Service sucks!!!! On several different occasions I have been told that repairs needed to be made when they did not. I took my car to my mechanic to have the repairs made. He informed me that I did not need to make the repairs. This place is money hungry!!! oh and one more thing. I need a new tag light bulb. For Waite Toyota to replace it was going to cost $38.00. I went to the local NAPA store and bought the bulb for under $3.00. read more

I traded in my Corolla and purchased a used Honda. Upon picking up the vehicle I was given one key. When I asked about that I was told that there was only one key available. I figured that I would go to Ace Hardware and get another key made as I have in the past and that there would be no problem. Well, there was a big problem. I was told that they were not able to make that type of key and to go back to Waites. I went back to Waites and was told that they couldn't make the key either and I needed to go to a Honda dealer for that. The nearest Honda Dealership is in Syracuse and when I called them I found out that in order to make a key that would start the car, I would need to bring the car down there so they could program the key. I found out that if I lost this one and only key, I would need to have the car towed to a Honda Dealer to get a new key made. This was an unacceptable risk so I went down to Syracuse and had the key made. It cost me $108 for the key plus gas to and from Syracuse. I asked Waites to reimburse me for this needed key, and was refused. I feel that they should never have sold a car with only one key, especially this type car with its special key. I realize it is E Caveat Emptor, but I am not a car geek and should have been advised of this very important fact. I figure that if I had to go to Syracuse in this instance, why not go to Syracuse next time I need a car. Plenty of other people do. read more

One word.... "Thieves". This place has done nothing but steal money. First time, I took my car in for some light smoke upon acceleration; '98 Camry - 125,000 miles 4 cylinder. They told me, "Sir, your engine is tired and needs to be replaced, and for $3,500 we can get you a used engine with only 90,000 miles on it." I changed the oil and switched to synthetic, and it never smoked again. At that time my shade tree mechanic friend noticed the water pump was leaking. So the second time I went in to finally replace the water pump and timing belt. I was away on training for two months so I figured it be the best time to avoid sharing a vehicle with my working wife. Low and behold they called my wife, and of course they had a list of recommendations that once again were way above the value of the car. She said no to all, but they talked her into the brakes, which were "really bad and need replacing ma'am." So she agreed after some bogus quote for parts only, then when she picked it up the original bill was over double and the two front rotors, brake pads, and some shim kits were all more expensive than the water pump and timing belt job. This place just takes advantage of people who don't know better, pretty shady that they called my wife and not me as I stated when I dropped the car off; funny thing is, the jeep dealership down the road who is owned by the same Name , does the same thing for my wife's jeep. read more
