Visited this place an hour ago for my Mum's COVID vaccine appointment. Her situation is a bit special as she got the Chinese vaccines before traveling to US. After showing the vaccination record to the pharmacist, they told us she cannot get vaccinated and need to wait for another six months. I asked them why since I read about reports that Chinese vaccines are not as effective as Pfizer/Moderna, and I'm concerned she might catch COVID-19 in next couple of months as Chinese vaccine effect wanes. The female pharmacist then gave me an attitude and were like "stop arguing and just go away as we won't give you the vaccine". But I was merely asking questions. She called the manager and the manager was much nicer and explained that they follow CDC guidelines but also acknowledged that CDC guideline was not detail enough to say which vaccine brand it applies to(probably to mRNA ones instead of foreign vaccines), but that's the only thing they could follow. I know mixing US and foreign vaccine is more of an area with less data and guidelines but definitely hoped the pharmacist could be more patient and professional in answering my questions. After all people's life is at risk with these decisions. read more

I have been standing in the Walgreens pharmacy line for 30 minutes and have moved up one spot in line ... 8 people in line and several have just given up and left. If my son did not need medicine, I would too (and plan to switch pharmacies after today). Seems to be a single person working. GO ELSEWHERE. read more

Fairly standard Walgreens offering with many convenient services. I have never waited long to pick up prescriptions and they normally carry everything I need. There is an alternative pharmacy a few blocks away which is more boutique, but has a limited selection. Reliable Walgreens. read more

You know what they say?! Mo' money, mo' problems! With this Walgreens being the Mekka of pharmaceuticals for richest of the rich, in the United States' second wealthiest city in the country, Atherton, and then all the bored housewives of Menlo Park, I bet it gets more action than an accountant on tax day!! I help contribute to this Walgreens' well-being on a regular basis and they do the same for me. The staff is always courtueous and sweet. I've been here for all sorts of things, print a picture, pick up meds, replace our cough syrup, buy a lightbulb, the list goes on ad infinitum... Parking in the back always works. If it's mid-day, sometimes you can get lucky in the front. One perk of this location is they carry one of my favorite treats-- the hybrid Butterfinger/Reese's Cups! Yeah-- they go against everything that I stand for when it comes to organic and fair-trade etc.. but they are soooo irresistable! Whoever came up with this combination is pure genius. Terrible service. I went to buy something in the window. I could not find it and an employee would do nothing more than point. The item was not available now. I then went to the pharmacy. I waited while an employee was helping someone else. She decided to call the person behind me in line after I waited for a while. read more

This Walgreen's is not laid out in a very intuitive manner. Some of the things I was looking for were in an aisle off in their own island which I figure would be grouped in a larger subset of items. I generally am good about finding my own stuff but after running around for a while I had to ask someone. That means things are fairly unorganized. read more

Evaluation of Pharmacy's service/incompetence! Would give negative stars if possible. I was driving my wife and our new baby girl home from the hospital where my wife had given birth via c section 5 days ago. She was in pain and eager to pick up the prescription from Walgreens that her doctor had called in the day before. She called Walgreens and spoke to a pharmacy staff member there. (We think her name was May) Wife: "Is my prescription ready for pick up?" May: "What's your name?" Wife: states her name May: "We have no prescription here for you." Wife: "Are you sure?" May: "Yes." This led to a 3 hour delay in picking up our medication during which we called the hospital, who called our doctor, who called the pharmacist again to verify that they had the prescription. Meanwhile my wife suffered. After the hospital called us to say the MD called in the prescription YESTERDAY (more than enough time for Walgreens to know they had it) and that the MD called in AGAIN today to check, I called the pharmacy again and this time May asked for my wife's date of birth. "Ah... yes, we have your prescription and it is ready to be picked up." Also, the hospital said if they had called it into the wrong Walgreens they should have it in their computer system and could've easily transferred the Rx. Obviously May didn't even check the computer. When I went to pick it up, they had the wrong first name. Then they had the wrong last name on the Rx. I had to go back and fix that. read more

ironically, the closest walgreens to where i live in rwc is in downtown menlo park, but i end up coming here anyway b/c it's just a short drive away. it also gives me a chance to visit some of my other favourite businesses while visiting downtown mp. this walgreens is pretty big, and has a front and back entrance, the latter of which leads directly to a parking lot. note that this parking lot can and will fill up during peak hours. for some reason, the spaces that line the back entrance of the store are almost always occupied. most of the time, i am here to pick up a greeting card or refill my clipper card for my monthly commuting needs. i've been fortunate to always have a friendly employee assist me with my transactions and have never had a problem here. great central location in downtown menlo park, on the 2nd block of santa cruz avenue. read more

This place is the worst pharmacy. Lines are always so long, staff doesn't know the answers to questions "because they are new," and they will randomly close for an hour. You will call and be placed on 45 min holds. They are inconsiderate of their patients and should be ashamed of themselves. read more

Absolutely worst place to have a prescription filled. Never enough personnel. Intolerably slow even for a simple pickup.

Came to wait in line for 20 minutes TWICE to be told twice that they didn't have my prescription. They did have it, it was just faxed. Then they told me they couldn't use my medical card for pharmacy, and they had to call Cigna to verify pharmacy coverage and waited for 20 minutes on hold. Never have I had a problem using my medical ID card at any other pharmacy. Absolutely ridiculous, and all three pharmacists i dealt with were rude. read more

Not a big fan of this Walgreens. I lurved the Walgreens in Millbrae and could literally spend hours in it but at this one, I practically run in and out. It's a small store which means it has a small cosmetics section and therefore means I have less to peruse and that makes me sad. They have a comparatively big section of lube and condoms though...wonder what that means? What really grinds my gears about this store is that their pharmacy closes pretty damn early, especially on Sundays. they close at 6 on Sundays, 6! I've already missed picking up my meds b/c of the early closing time. I miss my 24 hour Walgreens in Millbrae :( read more

Demoralized pharmacy staff who couldn't be more clear that they don't really want to see you. One of the pharmacists I saw was in street clothes and was chatting with his coworker, pretending the customer in front of him was just a piece of Rx and therefore needs no acknowledgment. Menlo is usually a pretty friendly town, but the service here is just atrociously bad. read more

This is a small Walgreens, but they pack in a surprising quantity of stuff and are going to start selling beer and wine (according to the notices we keep getting). I go here when I need Tide or something. If I want cosmetics or soap or just to browse, I go to Pharmaca. Customer Service: I go a lot, so I think I have seen the employees' good and bad days. They aren't necessarily the friendliest people, but it seems like they have a lot of customers who can't figure out how to use the credit card slider or who try to pay in nickels. Seriously - when there is a long wait, it is always the fault of a customer who is talking on the phone or chasing their children around the store. They do try to open an additional register in cosmetics when there is a bit of a wait. The pharmacy: they are decent. I am used to going to University pharmacies, so the first time I went in to have a prescription filled, I seriously didn't know what to do. I went to the wrong line, etc etc. They were patient with me. read more

I'd like to give big thanks to 3 Walgreens workers on Santa Cruz ave in Menlo Park. I was there to pick up my photo order this evening. Unfortunately, there was a bit issue with cut on the side of my photo orders. When I found it out, the lady whose name is Rosaria(I don't know her exact name) was trying to fix the problem right away. And, soon, guy whose name is Javier came over to help with cutting photos even manually, then manager whose name is Allan I guess came over and gave us a big help. Of course it would've been great if there was not any issues from the beginning, but every small gesture matters. These people seemed to be happy working there and that's why they're willing to fix the problems in very kind manner. Definitely I'll continue my future photo order here. Thank you again. read more

This is by far, the worst managed pharmacy in Menlo Park. I just came from waiting in a long line (30 minutes) and only 1 customer was helped during that time. I left. This happens every time I pick up a prescription. I'm transferring to the Safeway pharmacy. read more

Their pharmacy is s**t!!! They will sell you a generic brand and try to deny any wrong doing. They do this when they are short on brand medication, SO BEWARE! Generic medication DOES make a difference to how you react and this pharmacy could careless about how it affects you and your health. I'll be changing pharmacy now. Mind-bendingly incompetent. They frequently can't figure out how to fill all my prescriptions on time, even after notifying me they're ready. One of them will always take longer for no particular reason. The final straw was when they delayed my prescription for over a week "awaiting doctor's approval". The doctor had, of course, approved it on day one. I moved all my prescriptions to the CVS at Sharon Heights. Don't waste your time with this Walgreens. read more

Beware! This pharmacy filled my prescription with brand name even though my doctor wrote it for genetic and then charged me $400. I desperately needed the prescription so I had no choice but to pay it. The pharmacist blamed my insurance. When I got home and called my insurance, they explained that it would have been $0 if it was generic. The next time I tried to refill the prescription, the pharmacy told me that I had to have brand name as that is how it had been done the first time and they refused to do it generic so, with my doctors office closed right before New Years, I had to go with out my migraine medication or pay $400 for it. Horrific experience at this Walgreens. They pick up the phone after a 20 mins hold and can't even transfer a simple proscription from one Walgreens location to the next. It took 3 prescriptions, 24 hours of wait and multiple calls from my doctor to get the pills and I am writing this review from the store as they are still not ready. read more

Everytime I come in here I'm personally greeted by at least one staff member. They open up the registers in the cosmetics section and photography counter when the main line builds up. They carry a nice selection of pretty much everything, especially cosmetics. They always devote at least one full aisle to their holiday merchandise, which makes it easy to find decorations (and you know I love the 50% off post holiday candy sales!!). read more

Where else can I buy hair clips, Cadbury Cream Eggs (it's never too early to celebrate Easter by eating candy) get my fix of trashy magazine gossip, pick up prescriptions, and replentish my mouthwash supply? It was incredibly frustrating to get a flu shot here. I made an appointment for 3:40. Following instructions, I arrived ten minutes early. I'm still waiting a half hour later with no indication of when they'll take care of me. read more

If you want to get a flu shot go somewhere else unless you have a lot of time to kill. I had an appointment made on the online system only to find out they pay no attention to the appointments in the store. The store is understaffed and their systems for checking in for the shot are haphazard at best. No one knows what they are doing. There was only one person giving shots, doing all the paper work and everyone was waiting at least an hour. read more

They have a couple very good workers in the pharmacy, but they must pay very poorly because they have a ton or turnover, and it shows in the competency of the employees. I've tried every place in town and this Walgreens has THE SLOWEST service I've expierenced, and it's frankly not close. This place needs a major shakeup as far as staff. Beware! read more

I attempted to buy some clearance holiday candy for the cub scouts today but encountered, the slowest and least helpful retail people that Walgreens could provide. They had to count every individual piece even though it said 36 per box. They couldn't get the price right on a sale item and had to call the manager who came and disappeared and had to be called again each time. Then after 20 minutes waiting for these people to count nickels, their register froze so I left without the goods. read more

I am removing Walgreen's pharmacy on Santa Cruz Ave. as my prescription source. This pharmacy has been consistently incompetent. Twice they have received orders from my doctor and not filled it and not notified me, when I went to pick it up they told me that they do not have my insurance information on file. Once the clerk came to the window and informed me that I do not have insurance, I told him that I had gotten prescriptions there many times before with no problem. He said: "You need to call your insurance company" and he walked away from the window. I asked for the manager and she was able to bring up my information with no problem. Yesterday I was on hold on the phone 3 times from 20 - 30 minutes each time- the first two calls ended abruptly when someone finally answered, the call was hung up after a few seconds. The lines and wait times are always long and slow, with usually only 1 or at most 2 windows open. When I finally got through to ask if my Rx was ready yesterday, again I was told there was no insurance for me on file and they did not fill it or bother to call me. Then they found my info. again using my phone number. Before I hung up I asked how the wait lines were before I went to pickup my medicine? The clerk simply said 'they are horrible'. I asked when the best time to come would be, she said that they area always long. I called my doctor to switch my Rx to CVS in Menlo Park, the office manager at my doctor's office said that Walgreens pharmacy on Santa Cruz Ave. was notorious and well known to not answer the phone. The customer service at this pharmacy is routinely terrible. I turned in a new prescription to be filled. I was told it would be 15 minutes and I said I would wait for it. 35 minutes later I went back to the drop off counter to check and was told that it was ready. Nobody paged me, nobody announced that it was ready, I've been sitting here the whole time and nobody said anything. The pharmacy tech when he said it was ready said "well, we usually call out the first name" and told me to stand in the long line to pick up the meds. I use this pharmacy because it is close to home but their service is very, very bad. read more

Long wait time. Only pharmacy I've ever been to that doesn't understand how to put in insurance card information correctly. Used it before at other Walgreens but it "did not come up in the system". Treated me like I was trying to hand them a fake insurance card even though it was premium insurance! Had to wait another 20 minutes in addition to the 15 minute wait in line. My wife and I joke that you lose a few brain cells every time you walk into this place. The staff always seems lost and confused. Dont bother asking for any help here. The Pharmacy on the other hand is always fast and on their game. We'll continue to shop here though because its close to home and as long as you know what youre looking for and dont need help from an associate its easy. read more

The photo department is fine, but the pharmacy is terrible. It takes FOREVER to get service and then the staff is rude. They seem to be very bored and consider it an inconvenience to help you. I put up with it for about 6 months and then switched my prescriptions to Safeway where the service is much better. read more

My doctor prescribed a new medicine for me which I filled at Walgreen's on Santa Cruz. I didn;t notice until I got home that they substitued the medication for a generic medication and worse yet that the generic was made in India. My person who handed me my new medication that I had never taken before did not tell me that they substitued the medicine, or that the generic they provided was made in India nor did they offer a consulation.
