I was at the check stand and a man with grey hair was the cashier. I'm pretty sure he was the store manager, just by intuition and from my previous employment as a CVS licensed pharmacy tech. He gave me the option to donate to a charity and I declined. After declining, he sarcastically said, "Thank you for your generosity." It was unprofessional and extremely rude. I've never been spoken to like that as a customer. When I worked as a tech, I never spoke like that even to the worst customers I dealt with. This man gave bad customer service. If he's done this to me, he could be treating other customers poorly. While I still consider myself a Walgreens customer, I am reluctant to go into this store (#04625), fearing that I could be treated rudely again. read more

I came to pickup some prescriptions after work yesterday. It was 6:30 on Friday and the pharmacy was closed ( it is supposed to be open until 9pm). The reason it was closed? They didn't have a pharmacist to work the shift so they closed the pharmacy at 4:30. I'll be changing my prescriptions over to their competitor (the one with a 24hr pharmacy) when I am at the Dr next week. read more

This place sucks big time! There pharmacy is the worst ever! So disorganized and extremely slow paced. I had to pick up a prescription of one medication, which was sent in to them by my doctor. I arrived 30 minutes after it was called in. I waited in line for 30 minutes and when I finally made it to the cashier I was told my medication was not ready and hasn't been worked on yet. It was ready almost an hour after that. They had three employees and they were still extremely slow. One of them seemed to be all over the place. Two were on the computers. They knew the line was backed up with about 10 people and decided not to assist us for about 20 minutes. Worst service ever for a Walgreens pharmacy! I share my fellow Yelpers' mixed feelings about this Walgreens location. Let's first focus on the positive... this Walgreens has plenty of items (toiletries, home goods, candy, beverages, etc.) here at a lower cost than most other stores. Plus, they have plenty of metered parking in their lot, and the lines are never too long. You can usually get in and out in a matter of minutes. They also have a drive-thru pharmacy for folks who need to pick up their meds in a hurry. My favorite thing about Walgreens is their photo printing/services area. I can select photos for print from my computer and pick them up at the store in just a few hours. They also give you the option to create photo albums and collages. And it's all super cheap. As for the not-so-positive... this store attracts some dodgy characters. Every time I come here, there are always some vagrants hanging by the entrance. Also, the employees here are an odd bunch. I've had some bizarre interactions with folks at the cash register and the photo services area. They're not exactly the friendliest. The last time I paid for my goods, the cashier just shoved my items aside for me to bag myself while he proceeded to ring up the next customer. It was strange trying to collect all my purchased goods in a hurry while someone was standing right next to me trying to pay for his stuff. I guess at the end of the day, these are minor gripes. Walgreens isn't Whole Foods Market, nor are they pretending to be. If you're a San Rafael resident looking for a convenient pharmacy and/or basic home goods, then I guess you could do worse. read more

This is a terrible store. Where to start. They have very little inventory, the store is dirty and disorganized. The employees are hard to find and poorly trained. The pharmacy is severely under staffed so the lines are often long and they never answer their phone which means if you need to know about a prescription you have to drive there and wait in line. My suggestion is use Costco or one of the online pharmacies that deliver to your home like Alto or Cost Plus drugs. read more

This is a hellhole of a store. Line for the pharmacy is always dozens of people deep. If you are unfortunate enough to need to pick up a prescription here, bring a lawn chair and some snacks as you'll be here all week. I've come into this Walgreens a couple times this week to pick up my prescription from the pharmacy, and had to end up getting a preauthorized form to cover the costs. The first few times I came in, Sal helped me and he actually tried and put effort into helping me with the situation which I appreciated. Today the form got approved, so I came in to pick up the prescription and unfortunately Sal wasn't working today but his coworker Farid was and he was so unhelpful and rude. I'm 18 and under my parents insurance still so my parents called the pharmacy, and Farid was being rude to them and lied that he called the insurance when he didn't. All he did was tell me that I have to pay $600 for the medication and that he didn't get a form and didn't even check. He acted like he didn't know how to do his job and was very unprofessional and incompetent. read more

I'd stopped going to this pharmacy because of long waits and unfriendly, unhelpful staff most of the time. But I had to return for Covid booster yesterday. Can the pharmacy technician Farid be any more curt and unfriendly? No! I used to write it off as a bad day like we all have during the stress of this pandemic. Just spoke with someone answering the phones in the Pharmacy dept. SOOO rude. my doctor keeps saying they sent the prescript. the pharmacy doesn't have it. i'm in the middle 2 attempts now trying to figure out their processes (walgreens and my doctor) when I have NO clue. and the lady answering the phone treated me as if it's my issue and had a very rude tone of voice to me. I will move my prescriptions to a farther pharmacy to avoid having to deal with someone who is rude to me. I don't need this. read more

The pharmacy is not dependable. I have a specific medicine I need to take regularly, which I was originally able to get from them. I tried to use the telephone refill line, which was cheery and said it would be ready by 11am the next day. I came in the day AFTER it was supposed to be ready, however, and they couldn't even find it in the system, then ARGUED with me about it. Finally they refilled it with me waiting - but when I got home I found they had filled it with a GENERIC which has ingredients to which I am allergic. No mention of this at the time. I went back today and they said, "Oh yes, I told you it was a generic". No friggin' way. Then they tell me the medicine is on back-order. Had I known that at the beginning I could have found it elsewhere without being concerned of running out. So I said, "I'm not paying $70 for a medication I can't take". They said, "We'll refund it ONLY if you have the receipt (which I had already handed to them), but the Manager is not here and we can't process it until she is, tomorrow." It wouldn't even be so bad if they were not so belligerent about it, as if I am the problem. I am finding another pharmacy so I never have to deal with these moron's again. read more

Past reviews indicate that the 3rd Street Walgreens frequently fails to process faxed prescription orders from doctors. This happened to me several times. Rather than trying to determine why they have this recurring issue, pharmacy staffs tells you it is not their problem and you should contact the doctor's office. Time to find a new pharmacy. read more

My wife and I are both seniors. Driving through San Rafael, on 3rd street, we both needed to use a restroom badly. We decided to stop at Walgreen, do some shopping and use the restroom. I located the restroom. It had a huge sign over the doors "RESTROOM." There was a combination Key lock on the doors. I located a young Latina girl who worked in the aisles reshelving items and asked her for the number combination to unlock restroom door. She very roughly, and I thought, unpleasantly replied that the restroom was not for customers. I asked why since customers could see the restroom sign a mile away! She rudely walked away without acknowledging me. As I said , nature was calling and I personally, could not hold my water another minute. CONSEQUENTLY, I left the store, turn to my right and walked to the back of the store facing the parking lot, and behind a scrub located a discreet place and relieved myself. Looking around on the ground around me at the corner of the store there lay a pile of sh.t. I assumed another customer before me with the same issue was here also! As I turned to leave I noticed one of the male Walgreen clerks following me. I'm guessing it was no coincidence that management knew other customers were using the outside back of their business to do their "Their Business!" Why is it that poor neighborhoods treat paying customers like shi.t? Avoid this Walgreen at all cost!! read more

What can I say besides the obvious? For a Walgreens, this is one of the better ones, but that doesn't mean much. They have a couple nice employees, but as usual most of them are awful and bottom-of-the-barrel when it comes to customer service. Not only do they not let you use their bathroom, but they direct you to a store across the street which they claim DOES have a bathroom. The store they direct you to does NOT have a bathroom (for good reason, they are a pet store and they often use the bathroom as space for the animals), but will actually direct you to a bathroom. The funny thing is, the pet store has been telling Walgreens for MONTHS that they don't have a bathroom. Often the pharmacists are rude. I've been lucky and have caught a couple nice ones, but I've also had some dreadful experiences. The most fucked up thing about this Walgreens though is their lack of security for not only their customers but (in my opinion) more importantly their employees. A big homeless guy came in and cut in front of the entire line. When he left, the woman at the register apologized to me and explained that if she'd said anything he would have flipped out and started screaming and throwing things...like last time. LIKE LAST TIME?! When the hell did businesses decide to allow crazy people to abuse their staffs? This woman at the register probably has to deal with this guy every day...what a shitty position to put somebody in. Walgreens doesn't care about their employees or their customers. Frankly, I hope Walgreens goes out of business somehow. But, if you must go, this is one of the better ones... read more

Has what you need. Service decent, typically. Parking is an issue but I guess that comes with being in downtown SR.

Unless I'm in Kensington, the corner drug store is hard to find and almost gone in many parts of the Fruited Plain. So there's no use be nostalgic when I need over-the-counter relief, sunblock, or something else that I should have picked up earlier or left at home. This Walgreen's is like any other with it's crowded look and feel, interesting people, and the occasional line. And when I'm in San Rafael, I'm glad its here at all hours. read more

I only go here to pick up meds for a disabled friend. Every time but once in 3 years something has gone wrong and I have had long wait time to gets things straightened out. Most of the time, I have to wait for long periods even when there have been calls made ahead to make sure everything was ready. I personally use rite aid on 3rd street. The entire staff is friendly, knowledgeable and my meds are always ready when I arrive. read more

This is one of those times where I don't care how the service is. I don't care whether parking is the shittiest ever. I don't care whether or not I have to pay for meters regardless of what time it is, day or night. I give you five stars because you are open 24 hours. 24 hours (besides the gym) and Marin are not two words you usually put in a sentence together. As of late, I don't sleep. Well, that's not exactly true. I don't usually sleep well at all. I had a few months though where I was sleeping like a baby I must admit (oh sigh, oh blissful sleep). Back to the ol' days folks. It's imperative to have something open 24 hours. It's people like me that realize they are out of contact solution at 3am. People like me that need Q-Tips and cotton balls at 2:16 in the morning because WE CAN'T SLEEP and we're attempting to busy our minds with things we can do at that hour. Usually not much. Clean, eat, shower......and most of those things can be bought at Walgreens. At least now, unlike when I lived in Mill Valley, I can walk to Walgreen's instead of having to drive ten or fifteen minutes to get to something that's open. Plus sometimes it's fun to see what's the "scene" outside of the building at 4am. It can be pretty amusing. read more

Obnoxious parking. Clueless and incompetent staff. Badly stocked merchandise. Ah Walgreens! What happened? Full disclosure- I have tried twice to have Christmas cards printed online by Walgreens- once at a store in Fresno, once at this San Rafael location. The first time in Fresno, the top of my husband's head was cropped off in the photo- and they printed them that way- I had to decline the prints. This time, I showed up, 45 minutes after the prints were supposed to be ready (according to the website). I waited another 10 minutes in the photo department for someone to help me, and it was obvious from the look the clerk gave me (after she initially coudn't even find my order) that my photos hadn't even been processed yet. I got some stock excuse about them running behind, and then there was a lot of muttering in Spanish. (Which I was too polite to acknowledge that I understood, by the way.) They gave us a 30 minute eta on our cards, which turned out to be more like 45. Due to the abysmal parking, we had to get more change to feed the meter in the meantime. Two stars, because I did eventually get my photos, they looked cute, and nobody got decapitated in the process. read more

This Walgreens location is terrifying, and I would definitely keep your valuables out of site/out of mind in your vehicle. Keep the pepper spray handy as well. I popped in and out in 5 minutes because I feared being mugged. The store itself isn't bad, and is well stocked. I work in healthcare and have heard the pharmacy is a nightmare, and is over the phone too, but I can't speak about being an actual patient picking up meds there as I've never done it myself. Be prepared when you walk in and out of the store, it doesn't seem safe, and there are several seedy individuals outside. Not hatin' on underprivileged populations... these aren't the nice type homeless people. read more

Fresh, same-day scrip plus a call-ahead from my doctor and another Walgreens did not matter, they refused to release any medication and were argumentative when asked why. If I could rate this zero stars I would. I scheduled a Covid test at this location online. It takes about 10 or 15 minutes to answer their questions, enter your health history, and enter your insurance information. The test was to be administered through the drive-through window. Arrived on schedule but the drive-through was closed due to "insufficient staffing". I called the pharmacy (waiting on hold for five minutes or so - typical) and was told that there was no testing at this site, that this is a "systemic error" that had been going on for some time. The pharmacist was apologetic and referred me to another, farther away Walgreens. Obviously I was not the first person to experience this. I went online again to schedule an appointment test at the different location. Had to input all of the same information and data. Frustrated with Walgreens, I found a more convenient, closer test center. That place (Carbon) was fabulous. Got an appointment in 30 minutes. You have to wonder why a big corporation like Walgreens, which touts it's customer service, can't correct it's computer errors or otherwise notify customers of the problem. read more

What give this place my 2 stars, is the fact that they are open 24 hours a day. And having kids, I know that sometimes in the middle of the night they will wake up with a fever, and oh shit!!! The Motrin's expired!! And Walgreens is there for husband to quickly swing by and get the necessities at the wee hours of the morning. But, otherwise I avoid this place. The parking situation is horrendous. And like other posters have said, the pharmacy seems extremely overwhelmed with the prescriptions they have to fill. Accessible, right off the freeway. I had just left eh Corte Madera The Village mall and realized I was in need of laundry detergent but was not in the mood to navigate around this area for a Target, so when I saw the telltale signs of Walgreens, I rushed in. This parking lot is tiny, so I drove around the corner and parked in the double tiered lot across the street and walked my way. Typical Walgreens, with all the goods needed to make our medicine cabinets fatter and messier. I did, however, locate an inexpensive bleach alternative so I ran out with a purchase under $5 since the puparoo was waiting in the car (parked in the lower level with shade, thank you very much). Staff here were friendly and smiles abounded, but I suppose that goes with the territory, since they had nothing but lovely sun these past several days. read more

Specifically I want to comment on this location's Pharmacy. They seem to always be overwhelmed by the volume of prescriptions they have meaning a 45 minute wait is required. So be prepared to drop off and come back. Second is they made the Cardinal Sin of a pharmacy; they gave me the wrong medication. Fortunately I had taken it before and took it back (At first they didn't want to believe me) Lastly, they will say they have contacted my doctor by FAX to approve a refill... except he doesn't have a FAX! Or will say they've called and he'll say not so. If it weren't for the fact that I too am lazy and they have a drive thru I would go elsewhere. read more

The pharmacy never has enough staff and the majority of them are rude, with the exception of the tall boy who is always having to work the drive through and two walk in windows at the same time. I don't know how he manages to keep a smile on his face (you get 5 stars). Today I called in to get my prescription refilled and to see when the prescriptions my doctor called in would be ready. They told me they had no record of the new prescriptions. I called my doctor who verified that it had been sent in. Just in case, the doctor called in the prescription. I was told that it would be 45 mins (by pharmacy staff) to be ready but call the number to be sure it is ready. I call after an hour, not ready. Call again another hour later , wait on hold for 30 mins, get disconnected. Call again, not ready. Call again another hour later. Wait on hold for 15 mins, get disconnected. Call again. FINALLY get through to a person. 3 1/2 hours later it is STILL not ready. WHAT THE EFF? Get the picture? When you have pneumonia it isn't exactly nice to wait around forever to get what you need to make you feel better. Add panhandlers and and bad parking to the above complaints... I think it is time to move to another store. read more

This is my go-to drugstore, and has been ever since I spent my days sulking up and down fourth street. It has everything I need- 1 hour photo, nail polish remover, easy parking, cold medicine, greeting cards, a children's toy section, a dollar section, school supplies, frequent sales on all kinds of junk, drinks, and chips. Oh, and cash back. I like cash back. I don't usually stop by after midnight, but I like knowing that it's open all the time. I think the counter staff is just fine, but the other shoppers are usually weird. read more

This place smells like new pinata (pin-ya-tah). And it pretty depressing inside. But their pharmacy folks are very with it and polite. I totally use their pharmacy . . . but that's pretty much all I use. Also, there tend to be a lot of very "weathered" folks hanging around the front of the store. This review is for the Pharmacy, the worst out of all of them, If you need a refill don't waste your time or energy going to this location they'll probably tell you they never got the scrip from any of your doctors. They're slower than molasses serving the customer just to find out that they don't have it at all or it's not ready (2 days after calling it in). If your doctor didn't get back to them for the refill they just leave it sitting. When you tell them you just talked to the doctors office they'll tell you "well they didn't call us" total load of crap when your listening to the doctors office call it in. read more

I can't stand this place! The restroom is still out of order after several months. I was told that there was a dispute between San Rafael and Walgreens. Next, the homeless loitering in the front of the store really gives me the creeps. The only time I will go to this store is if I did not have another option. We watched a customer struggle to fit her bag under the plexiglass barrier and drop several things while the clerk was on the phone and just watching her fail. Maybe understandable if they were helping someone on the phone but when the customer left she transferred the call to the other clerk and it was clearly her boy toy calling to flirt. Then when we got home and opened the box of what we had purchased it had a pair of used socks instead of the item. I shit you not, we'd be pissed if we didn't think it was so funny. Because I go to school nearby, it is great that this place is open 24 hours. At 3AM, it is especially important to be awake to try and finish any last minute things, and what better place is a 24 hour Walgreens? They have everything a college student needs, and I am glad it's there. However, this is just my review for past 10PM. During the daytime, when normal people are also awake, the parking is horrible, metered parking is stupid, and people are just a-holes when it comes to trying to get in there. Sometimes they will never let you in because they are trying to perfect their driving skills or something. It's really whatever in the day, and I try to avoid the place in the day. At night is when it all goes down, and it's awesome when there are people standing outside the place. One never knows what kind of person will be there outside of this particular Walgreens. In summary, if you need a place to go to get a quick fix of anything missing in your household at 3AM, or need great deals on energy drinks or bottled water, this is the best place to go to. read more

Not too much of a reason to come here but they're open 24 hours a day. I've made many late night runs to grab contact solution. The lines are also never that long and the cashiers aren't crazy like at RiteAid. But they have to get people to stop panhandling in front of the store. It gets pretty annoying. read more
