This is a well kept store, unlike CVS. They seem a little disorganized but the workers are generally nice. The awful part is the Pharmacy. They are slow, rude and unhelpful. However, I want to give a special shout out to NICK JONES who is incredibly nice, organized and wonderful. He goes out of his way, unlike the others who act like you're bothering them by being there. He is friendly and will try to use his brains and creativity to solve your issues. The others just tell you to sit down and wait. If you have an idea to speed things up, they don't want to hear about it. In general, they are snippy and small minded. I was there for two hours to get one prescription which they had in stock. This is why I go to Wilshire Westgate Pharmacy. They're at Wilshire just west of Westgate. It's small, friendly ( except for Brian who can be a pill one minute and very nice another minute). Samantha is the best!! When I go in I'm usually out in five minutes with no problems. I only went to WALGREENS because their machine was broken ( never happened once before in ten years). They may cost a few dollars more ( I'm not sure) but it's so worth it to not deal with the big pharmacies. read more

I've gotten a few prescriptions here before and never had an issue. Now that my scripts have gotten heavier, it's become harder to fill at chain pharmacies due to laws After being with CVS and losing my insurance for a month by mistake, they are refusing to fill my scripts even with cash payments. They know my docs and surgeons. Moreover, I have been treated horribly bc I LOOK young-but even still, age has NOTHING to do with being extremely ill-and healthy. Because I'm not limping or visibly sick, I've been questioned and humiliated as a drug addict at CVS in front of 30 people before. The pharmacist said I was too young to be taking narcotics. Plus if they really went to school, they would know withholding meds that surgeons and docs prescribed-that literally have opened me up, they would know forced withdrawal can kill u. WTF. I'm having brain surgery in 2 weeks and that's when CVS decided to not fill my meds and not allow me to do cash payments. I'm really sorry for the opioid crises but it's not the pills-it's thepeople who choose to take them. Most die from illegal drugs but drug cocktails. There's people like me who survived the worst day in America and have organs missing, osteoporosis from bones that were shattered and worst yet-a plate in my head with a growing tumor and a swollen nerve underneath causing me so much pain that I almost took my life. I can retire and go on disability or hit up the fund but I am still young and want to work so I need these meds to stop the pain.. Refusing meds will only make it worse bc people will turn to street drugs DUH o die from withdrawal. That's pharmacy 101. Doctors should be the ones making the call.. The system is connected so they can see if someone is going to different pharmacies... IF they want to help the opioid crisis- make REHAB free!!! Anyhow, I needed my meds filled-even the non-opioid (I take one and have only and have always used as directed) so I called everywhere. When I called Walgreens, they filled it bc they have the senses of when someone needs it! I honestly couldn't believe they had it in stock.... but the ladies who did the morning shift were so kind and understanding and then when i picked it up, the night shift couldn't have been any nicer... They also have always been on point. Last Friday, the staff (9/7) even went so far as finding me a discount-reducing my meds significantly. I get people have bad experiences. I get most of you feel like u should click ur fingers and be next in line.. but do you want your stuff done right or done fast?? For Cali people to be known for their chilled mentality, They have a sense of entitlement and complain about the DUMBEST things like long lines. Photo center is terrible. Received email that my order was ready. Upon arriving, and waiting 15 mins, they tell me their printer is broken and somebody should've informed me- but didn't. In Santa Monica you definitely expect higher quality than this. Store is small and feels old, terrible parking. Do us all a favor and close down. read more

When I called the pharmacy to inquire about my prescription I spoke to Aiesha. I asked if I had 12 refills left before the end of the year and she did not answer my question but instead asked me if I wanted to fill the prescription. I said, "No. I just wanted to know if I had refills left until the end of the year." She again did not answer my question. I asked again. She further did not answer my question. Finally when I asked the third time, more slowly in case there was a problem with my phone so that she could understand me, Aiesha said she would look up my date of birth and sighed loudly out of frustration. Zero patience. When Aiesha finally got me the information I had another question. Instead of being patient and waiting for my question, she simply said "Have a nice day" and hung up on me. read more

I had a very good experience today at Walgreen's pharmacy at 20th and Wilshire in Santa Monica. Actually, most times I'm there, it is surprisingly easy. The reason I'm writing this is because I never imagined that a chain store like Walgreens could have such personal service. I've alway supported my local independent pharmacy, but when they were purchased by a small chain, I decided to expand my choices. CVS is always too difficult, and time consuming. Once I started with Walgreens about one year ago, I've been happy. My dealings are mostly with the pharmacy. Their prices are good, techs at the pharmacy often search for coupons that can lower the price, and today I got the best help yet. I've been trying to find someone with the Shingrix vaccine, which is mostly unavailable. I had part one and needed part 2. I asked Sonya, the pharmacy tech if she could put me on the list. She said she had two does and I could have one right then. Eureka! The pharmacist, Shana, talked to me about the vaccine, effortlessly gave me the shot and answered all my questions. She was so warm and friendly to me and the customers waiting for their prescriptions. She and Sonya both seem to care about her clients, and obviously enjoy helping people. Yes, there is often a line at the pharmacy, but look deeper and you will see real people behind the counter that are most helpful, kind and efficient. read more

If you want fast service and reasonable prices, look elsewhere. A month ago, I dropped off a prescription for pain medicine prescribed by a department head at UCLA. I've filled prescriptions in the past for the same med at this Walgreens so I didn't expect any problems. Wrong! Every day for the next 9 days I called and every day they told me that it wasn't ready and to "call back tomorrow". Finally, on day 10, they told me that "corporate" wouldn't authorize filling my prescription because they didn't have any other customers using this particular med. I took back the doctor's prescription, drove to CVS, and handed it to a smiling lady who ordered my med. It was ready two days later. This week, I used Walgreens' automated telephone system to order a different prescription that had zero refills remaining. The next day their website showed that my doctor had authorized refills but they weren't processing my order. And, the refills had magically changed to a smaller amount of a more concentrated version of the drug that isn't covered by my insurance. In this way, Walgreens had turned a $25 co-pay into a $330 bill that I wasn't about to pay. I called my doctor, picked up the $25 version at my local Vons pharmacy, and swore that I would never visit Walgreens again. read more

I just left this store. Totally pissed off and feeling racially profiled.. I noticed that the manager was staring at me as if I was doing something wrong. He kept giving me corner of the eye glances, while pretending to do work. I told my friend loud enough, for the worker to hear me,"hey, I think he thinks I'm stealing", (we were playing in the plush animals for valentine's day) he was still eye fucking me when I went to pay, and I told the guy who was ringing me up I felt very uncomfortable. He looked at me like I was crazy. So I made a comment when he asked me about needing a bag. I said no, but can I please have my receipt, I don't want to come back in for my Rx and be accused of stealing this. Well I came back to get my Rx, and the other manager rang me up. So I gave him my verbal complaint and expressed my concern on how I was treated. And maybe training on loss prevention should be taught more in depth, so that people who were not doing anything wrong, wouldn't feel so uncomfortable. After all that the candy I just purchased, and explained what happened, he had the audacity to say to me, can I see your receipt for those things in your purse.. like really? Wtf read more

I've come to this store for two consecutive weeks to get stuff and although the store is clean and neat, the checkout experience is terrible!!! Of course it is the same cashier working nights and the jist of my rant - the big bald guy with the black glasses - and all I get is attitude both times. I'm just trying to buy stuff!!! The first time I'm digging around to get my loyalty card and all I get is a ton of side eye and huffing and puffing. Really??? Not to mention that this is SaMo and you gotta bring your own bags and he can't bag the stuff I purchased! Really??? I ended up doing it because people were waiting in line and he's doing nothing to help/expedite things. So UNHELPFUL!!! The second time I come in he mumbles out a greeting as we come in the door but at checkout, we get the same attitude and even though I have my elderly mom in tow and my hands full, he still can't bag my purchases!!! And I put my bag on the counter before he even started ringing me up!!! It isn't like I have a skin disease, open lesions or anything that would deter a normal person from helping!!! WTF??? If you hate your job that much, don't work there!!! Just based on these two visits alone, it is unlikely I'd return in the near future if I have to put up with this negative puss!!! Essentials: limited parking next to the store and more parking underground. There is a parking elevator and the escalator only goes up to the store; there is only a stairway to go down. During the rain, the upper parking lot next to the store can get flooded, FYI. The store is usually well-stocked, open 24/7 and clean and neat. read more

The pharmacy is incompetent. I dropped off a prescription and they tell me it will take 30 minutes. I walk around the store for 20 or so minutes and then wait at the pharmacy waiting area. The pharmacy was very busy so I didn't mind waiting a little longer. After an hour goes by from the time I dropped it off, I ask them what's taking so long. Come to find out they didn't even process it. They had my prescription right in front of them and doesn't process it. They said they would "put a rush on it." Another 20 minutes goes and I go back to talk to them and they haven't even begun filling the prescription. It took 1 hour 45 minutes to get it filled. I suggest going to another pharmacy. read more

Pharmacy service here is pretty horrible. There is a total inability to multitask. Many is a time that I have dropped off a refill early in the morning, returning after work to pick up only to be informed that they haven't even begun refilling it. So I stand there watching three people behind the counter bumble about the same computer, stand around chatting, and generally seeming uninterested in the line that continues to form.... Absolutely lazy employees here! I came in just a few moments ago, went straight to the photo counter to use the Western Union kiosk which I have never done before. The lady behind the counter just sat there with a sour face and never said a word, just glaring at people with an attitude. One employee walked up and started talking to a man playing with photos on another machine. Again, never spoke to me even though I was obviously in line waiting for assistance. By the time I figured out that the photo machines are also the WU machines, it was too late and WU doesn't function after 9:00 p.m. Looked at my phone. 9:03 p.m. And this is an important transfer so I am incredibly unhappy at the moment. To the rude lady with the sucka%*# attitude, get over yourself. You have a job to do and it wouldn't hurt your karma to frickin' smile and say hi to people. read more

He helped me pick the right size photos for what I needed and even offered to test print a few for me to see if they would work. I went in clueless and came out happy and satisfied. I could tell this is his usual modus operandi because the girl before me and the older man after were also helped with the same great customer service and both left happy too. I went to this Walgreens, for my annual flu shot, and was denied. I had to call Medicare Health Insurance, to find out, there's really no issue at all. I then called back, and the pharmacist began to give me, the same speech about my Insurance not covering the med at a certain level. After being on hold, and repeating my story to 2 pharmacist, I was told I could come back, and get the service. Thank goodness, Walgreens are located throughout the city. I'm 19 mi from this incompetence. read more

I have been coming to this location since I moved here from Texas almost 2 years ago and have had nothing but wonderful customer service for the most part. Why the 3 star rating vs a 5 star rating you ask, well let me explain. First of all I do not understand why the pharmacy is not 24/7 if the store is. I work odd hours so having a 24 hour pharmacy works better for me so I usually have to travel some miles just to refill a prescription (sigh). The other issue is that I had a prescription filled there about a year back. Picked it up, returned home and sorted it out into my monthly pill holder. Low and behold 25 pills were missing.... odd. So my husband and I return to the pharmacy right away and talked to the pharmacist who filled it. He looked a bit nervous when he saw me coming up to the counter..... odd. I told him 25 pills were missing and that if he would like to review the camera footage along with the manager on duty I would be happy to wait. I swear he went pale and started sweating but he said, "Oh no that isn't necessary, I probably just miscounted. We don't need the manager for this. Let me go get those for you now!". He came back within 2 minutes with my 25 missing pills and no questions asked. Now I know most people would say, so what's the issue, sounds like great customer service to me. Well the fact that he didn't question it and check stock on what is supposed to be a controlled substance is what flagged it for me. Needless to say when I came back 2 weeks later for something else he no longer worked there. What happened to him I do not know. I haven't had any problems with missing medication since thank goodness! Although I still count after I leave haha. Hope this was helpful! read more

I've been with Walgreens for many years and am terminating my relationship after the latest transaction. This particular location makes a practice of disinterest. The "team" is stressed all of the time. Getting one thing done with them routinely takes hours. This morning, if the person I had been talking to had been willing to look up my file, we would have solved a simple problem. I don't care if it costs more. I want to recognize Donald We were in the area over the weekend for my sons surgery and we needed a few things at the store. Donald was a pleasure to deal with. Great personality and very helpful. We were in the store only twice but he remembered us and the fact that I had reminded my son the night before not to carry anything. When we returned the next day I stayed outside with the dog He asked my son where I was and he said outside with the dog. Donald came by the door and waved. Worst customer service ever. Called the pharmacy twice. I was on hold for 30 minutes the first time and 20 the second time. I was disconnected after talking to someone during my first try and had to go back through the same system. The system doesn't work and the pharmacists put in very little effort to help once you're actually connected. If you don't like your job then please do something else. THE ABSOLUTE WORST. I had outpatient surgery and my surgeon called in pain meds to this pharmacy. Should have known there was going to be a problem because the surgeon complained that it took 11 minutes for the phone call to go through to an answering machine, judging by how slowly the clerks moved when I got there, not surprised they were not responding to calls. I received a text from Walmart confirming the prescription so I had a timestamp. I came in approximately an hour later, but the prescription was not ready. The man at the pharmacy counter showed no interest in doing his job as the surgery pain medication was rapidly wearing off and he said the prescriptions would be ready in 10 to fifteen minutes, then he disappeared. I walked around the store, at times having to lean up against the wall to stay on my feet, the whole time feeling worse by the minute from the pain and nausea. About 20 minutes later, after waiting behind other customers, I am again at the window asking for the prescriptions. The first clerk had completely disappeared and the prescription still not filled. Apparently, he had done absolutely nothing regarding the first request, and I was told that it would be another few minutes by yet another slow moving clerk showing zero sense of urgency. I tell the second slow moving clerk that I am not feeling well as not only the surgery medication worn off, but I am so nauseated from pain I am about to throw up. I ask to sit at a chair near the pharmacy that is in a small room. The woman at the counter refuses and tells me to go sit at the chair in the photo department across the store for her to call me. While I am there there photo counter clerk comes over and starts slamming drawers/cabinets near me as if in a tempertantrum. Great customer service there. Twenty minutes later I am finally called to the counter for the medication, over an hour and a half after the prescription was called in. The not so bright clerk then drags out the checkout process asking questions she could have ask far sooner and while I am so tortured with pain I can barely answer coherently and am about to faint or throw up. She then insists I have to talk to some other idiot before I can have the antibiotics and pain medication and I lost it, demanded the manager, during which time the lazy clerk does NOTHING to further the check out process. The supposed manager is zero help and flat out refuses to call the regional manager when I ask her to call since she was incompetent. Ignoring that I am crying from pain and raising my blood pressure by refusing to do even the basic functions of their job and making the situation far worse than it should have been. Frustrated by the total lack of customer service I call the manager a vulgar word that definitely fit her attitude in the face of my crying from pain and then I have to deal with her temper tantrum of being incompetent at her job. It is not her job to deny me medication prescribed for me by my surgeon. Is she suddenly in possession of a medical degree to counteract what a surgeon prescribed? Would the California State Board of Pharmacy have an issue with a clerk interfering with a surgeon's medial orders? Guess we will find out. How incredibly stupid does one have to be to work at a Walgreen pharmacy that the clerks ignore a patient clearly stating that they are ill from the pain from surgery and refuse to do their job? Seems like their incompetence has extended to other people making the mistake of using this pharmacy by the large amount of negative reviews. read more

Convenient location off of Olympic. Like that this location offers ample parking. One of my favorite Walgreens locations. Store is very organized in well stocked. I can always find what I need here. Employees are very nice and helpful. I hate it when some employees take their time at the register checking out people.  At this location, I feel they really are trying to be considerate to their customers and move the line along. They also apologize if the wait is too long.  Definitely one of my go to drugstores. read more

Love Walgreens, so much more than CVS. They have better products and service. Today I went to pick up a few beauty products and one of their employees helped me find the perfect tinted moisturizer, which I am very happy about. I also was able to bring in my puppy while I walked around the store, which was a HUGE plus considering CVS is now banning all dogs from being able to walk within their stores, what a joke! In all, I was very satisfied with Walgreens and their service today. I will definitely be back! read more

FYI - A Bad Experience with MoneyPak at Walgreen SM This review is really about Walgreen and MoneyPak together, and is not a reflection on Walgreen SM's other offerings. I went to Walgreen to buy a MoneyPak card for $600. Walgreen can only due $500 at each site per day, so I bought a card for $504.95 cash and went to CVS to add $100.00. When I went to use the MoneyPak card online, there was only $100 on the card (the money I added at CVS). When I went to use the care, the $500 cash I paid at Walgreen never made it on to the card. I went back to Walgreen, and they were very helpful. I cannot complain about their customer service, and they claim they never have this problem, but one clerk said that card activation is not always instantaneous, and that now gives me pause and the reason for this review. Three days later I am still waiting for resolution. Hopefully it will all work out, although the airline ticket I was planing on buying has gone up 50%. MY ADVICE If you buy a MoneyPak card at Walgreen then don't leave there until you have a record of the conformation. (the receipt will say "Activation"). If there is no Activation message, then ask for a return and go somewhere else. Also, use separate cards for all MoneyPak transactions. Green Dot mention this to me, which was never made clear at the Point of Sale at either CVS or Walgreen. The MoneyPak packaging states you can add to the card. DON"T!. Another note, you pay $4.95 for each card loading, so if you are adding more than $500, CVS is a better value. read more

You can tell the pharmacists who work there HATE their job and their customers. Basically you go there to get your meds ( that you are paying for) and they make you feel like sh.... Anytime I get there I wonder what excuse they are going make to get rid of me and I see that with almost all the patients in front of me... few weeks ago that happened with ROYA the pharmacist who just said well you can wait until next week I don't see why this should be a problem.. UNBELIEVABLE.. how do you know if it's a problem??? Are you the one in pain and in need of your meds? No! I don't even know how those people get their certification, they are so rude and don't care about their patients unless you remind them that they may lose their license.. definitely calling the pharmacy board of California to address this issue.. Shame on you ROYA..go get a job in a call center instead of gossiping on patients while pretending you are on the phone and too busy to answer their questions! read more

Constantly out of stock on medications. Understaffed in the pharmacy department, can't pick up medications even when I've been alerted that they're ready.
