I was even able to get some great advice from the office staff when I could not decide what kind of insurance to buy. Because everybody knows dental insurance is a rabbit hole. But they gave me great advice there too, and I have kept that same company for several years now. As with everyone, if you treat your trusted medical and dental providers well, they will treat you well. I got an emergency appointment and the Dentist who saw me was nice enough and focused "only on the tooth that i complained about". He then informed me that there are issues around that tooth that could also be causing pain and I should come in for a cleaning and a comprehensive exam. I did that one week later, which was still filled with pain. I got another set of zrays (I had given the clinic two previous sets that were recent) and then waited two hours for the dentist who came and said that he has to go home in 10 min and doesn't have time to see me. He did inform me that I have a cavity but that he also had a long day and didn't have time to deal with that. I was given an appointment a week later. I can't believe this is what counts as good health care in Boston. Oh I then got called after I left the clinic because they were worried I would give them an infectious disease and told me that I needed to be medically cleared. I informed them that this was not only discrimination but illegal and they said they will check before confirming the appointment. They did eventually confirm the appointment but by then I was sufficiently traumatized that I found another place to get treated. The good marketing is as far as it gets, they don't care about their patients at all. We are just dollar signs to them.

After a slew of X-rays and scans, the Dr. came in with 0 introduction, looked at my teeth for 5 mins and proceeded to tell me I had a plethora of issues (which I've never had before). She told me I had "a handful" of cavities.. what doctor describes anything to a patient as "a handful" and doesn't give specifics? She also said I needed two crowns and had gum issues. I have never had issues like this before in my life so for someone to pop in for five mins with no further explanation and then leave was upsetting. The hygienist then told me that I needed a "deep cleaning" which would require two visits and for them to numb each side of my mouth. They actually refused to give me a regular cleaning. A front desk person came into the room with a packet of info about the cleaning and sat there and stared as she told me to sign - super awkward and made it uncomfortable to read through the info/costs. Finally after TWO HOURS I left with only HALF my mouth numbed and cleaned. I had to then come back at a later date for the second half of the cleaning. During both visits I asked for receipts to be emailed to me - I didn't get it either time. I followed up afterward and got one of the two receipts. I also had to email them five times to get copies of my X-rays. Oddly no one EVER followed up about making an appt for the so called cavities or crowns. If I had such issues, wouldn't it be imperative that I make an appt right away? The front desk only insisted that I make an appt in three months for my next deep cleaning. When I told her I'd check my a schedule and get back to her she said "no, let's make one now to get it on the schedule". I said no thanks and left. They are unbelievably persistent about scheduling in advance and will continue to hound you via calls, texts, and emails. Take a look at the other Citidental Boston location Yelp reviews where people have had very similar experiences to mine. Avoid this place at all costs. I have since gone to other dentists who confirmed the so-called work CITIDental suggested that I needed was unnecessary.

I can't say definitely they were taking advantage of me not being a dentist and charging me for unnecessary things, but it feels that way. Because these people failed to accurately do my medical intake - I almost had a 5k dollar expenditure. I had been a patient at GHDP-Somerville for nearly 10 years. My first dentist was fantastic, he left. My second dentist, fantastic, he left. My subsequent dentists all mediocre to poor. I had a number of primary dentists here, so many changes to my service that I lost track of how many there were. The quality of hygienists, awful. Cleanings took longer stopped being comprehensive - my last cleaning I had to remind the hygienist they missed the entire bottom left of my mouth. The last... and I mean absolute last straw was my experience with Dr. Tsering DMD. I finally decided to move on. After my cleaning, they discovered I had a filling that had failed\broken and were intent on fixing it. As they started taking my blood pressure, I noted several times to the hygienist that they had my sleeve in the pressure cuff, so they weren't going to get an accurate response. I also insisted on them using a larger cuff (I have larger biceps and triceps) to get an accurate reading - they refused, ignored everything I said... and got a bonkers blood pressure reading. They insisted on me getting a primary care visit before they would fill the cavity. A month goes by, I cannot get an appointment. I tried to get it scheduled and was rather rudely dismissed by "Patrick" at the front desk when I called and explained that the tooth needed to be addressed. This was just before Christmas, it took me until mid February (nearly four months from the start) to get a new primary care dr. and a visit who said... the same thing every one of my doctors has ever said "Make sure they are using a right size cuff" I switched to another dentist closer to home - he filled the cavity last week and to quote him "You're lucky, I was barely able to fill this it may still need a root canal, we should watch this very closely" Go literally ANYWHERE ELSE

The dental hygienist Adam was not. He did not stop drilling when I told him he was hurting me and he ended the appointment by telling me I had "poor dental hygiene". Ouch on both fronts. Pre-cleaning I had some insurance struggles and the receptionist was very helpful and pleasant. The waiting room is small but clean. The cleaning itself was pretty uncomfortable. I kept getting sprayed in the face. Adam did wipe my face with a napkin at some point but I was damp for most of the cleaning. They provided safety glasses to protect my eyes from the spray but those were dirty from a previous patient. The X-ray was difficult because I have a small mouth but the tech was sweet and did her best. I was offered the option of having a doctor do my cleaning next time but honestly I will probably cancel my follow-up and find a new dentist. I would not recommend Boston Smiles to a friend.
