I ended up at Walkers for the convenient location and went back for the spectacular food and service. I stopped by not once, but twice during my stay in Billings. During the first (drinks only) the bartender was very attentive and knowledgeable. Because of that experience, I decided to stop by for dinner, as well. When I arrived toward the end of the busy dinner service, the bar top was nearly full. After grabbing one of the last bar stools, I found I was surrounded by regulars, which is always a good sign. I ordered the Ramen of the Day along with a Penicillin to drink. Both were delicious, quality food and drinks. Wanted to check out Walkers after the remodel. The interior looks great and those ridiculous barb wire lights are gone. The service was excellent and attentive, but the food was quite disappointing. We ordered the deviled eggs appetizer and it was very good, a bit strange and too salty, but an interesting combo of flavors. Unfortunately, the entrees both bombed. We had the curry dish and the meatloaf. I asked not to have the gravy on the meatloaf because I cannot eat mushrooms. I should have asked if they could do some other type of gravy or sauce, but the waitress didn't offer, so I didn't ask. My mistake, because the meatloaf, while tasty, was as dry as the Sahara desert and since I was only offered ketchup when it was dropped off I regretted getting it. C'mon, do you mean to tell me that a pre-cooked item like meatloaf can't have a quick sauce or gravy whipped up in 20 minutes to accompany it? Especially considering it was as dry as shoe leather. The curry was oddly sour and the rice was slightly undercooked (not just firm but crunchy). The sourness overpowered the rest of the flavors, not that the curry flavor itself was prominent. This place was recommended by a family member who lives in MT so we decided to check it out as we were passing through Billings. The food was very good and the wait staff were friendly and attentive. That said, they were very busy and it took an inordinately long time to get our entrees delivered. Our waitress and the hostess repeatedly apologized for the wait...which I appreciated. But for the price ($38 for my husband's New York strip steak and $33 for my pork shank), I expected a little better from the kitchen. Also, the bottle of wine we ordered was advertised as being from Napa, CA, but it was actually from Sonoma, CA (which is a big difference for wine aficionados). Still glad we went, though. read more

Top Place in Billings! Walkers is a great place for drinks, food, tapas. We had a client dinner here. There were 5 of us The food was pretty spot on. We started in the Bar and those guys can mix a great drink. Plus the service is outstanding. I've eaten in at the bar a few times, but this was my first dinning room experience. And experience with Large Plates. We usually nosh on small plates and have a cocktail. The dining experience was just as good as the Tapas Bar. 6 Stars for Service (Ryan was amazing). 4.5 stars for food. It's very hard for me to give 5 stars anway, so don't be shocked by this. It has to be absolutely perfect. So, why 4 stars for food? The special catch of the day was a Hawaiian Barracuda. Which was supposed to be served medium rare/medium. Steak like, almost like a mild swordfish. But it came out over cooked. Medium Well +. Which made it somewhat dry and not a lot of flavor. The Basmati rice was great with it.. but we ordered fish, not rice. We didn't send it back, because it was OK. Not terrible, but not amazing. The other 4 dishes and apps: Mahi and Spaghetti squash 5 stars, Flank Steak 5 stars, NY Strip 5 stars and the pasta special Pancetta Alfredo over Tagliatelle also 4.5 stars. Great Caesar salads, bacon wrapped dates and the brussel sprouts were all great! So, with all that greatness why not 5? I explain it this way. If you're telling the story of your dining experience and you use the word "but", it means it's not perfect. "The meal, service, drinks and ambiance where awesome! But, the fish was slightly over cooked." I also don't measure any restaurant against another, but on its own merit. Every place is unique and have is own spin on a dish. Try to find Pad Thai in 2 places that tastes the same. Each is unique. BUT.. (lol), I'll return. And let them earn that 5th star! read more

Walking into this place was like entering an oasis, and the food and wine did not disappoint on that promise. My friend and I made a pit stop in Billings on our way to Yellowstone and after much appreciated but weary days of Applebee's, Subway, string cheese, etc., we got more than we could've hoped for at Walkers. The asparagus with corn sauce was one of the best asparagus dishes I've had - asparagus isn't normally my favorite but I lapped it up with plenty of "yums" murmured across the table. Beets aren't my friend's favorite, but the beets and burrata were also a hit... who can argue with burrata (drool) and the beets has a good tang. The server read our minds and offered the curry with shrimp instead of plain veggies, savory yet light and refreshing. The bustling atmosphere was restorative after months of quarantine gloom, but we were spaced out enough to feel safe. *Recommend making a reservation* read more

Wow. I've eaten here twice and 5 stars is an under rating. Some of the best food I've had anywhere, and super interesting options. The broth in the salmon paired with the fish. The small plates are just ridiculous--top tier and well put together. If you don't put this on your list as a foodie, you are doing it wrong. This review is a bit delayed, but I can say I thoroughly enjoyed a nice dinner and long catch-up session with an old friend at Walkers while in Billings a few weeks ago. Aside from the post-Halloween creeper who stared at us from the window we were sitting next to, it was a solid four-star night. First, the atmosphere here is nice, and it's not too loud to have normal conversation. We sat in the bar area and enjoyed great service and lively enough company, but not so lively that it detracted from our experience. After perusing the impressive wine and drink list (there are some tough finds and interesting choices here!), we started with a couple of glasses of wine and the Roasted Squash and White Bean Hummus and Bacon Wrapped Dates. The dates were far too sweet for my taste, but the hummus was absolutely delicious! Super smooth and full of flavor, and paired with toasty pita bread. Yum! Our entrees were also really good. I had Walkers Famous Bourbon Street Linguine and by friend had the Coconut Red Curry. The andouille sausage in my dish could definitely have been spicier (note to Walkers: check out the andouille from Red Neck Sausage out of Kalispell! It's delish, and added bonus: it's local!), but overall, the flavors were great! Nicely balanced noodle to protein ratio, and a really well flavored red sauce with a little kick. My friend really enjoyed her curry as well. Our server was attentive, but not overly so, which is always appreciated. I did feel it was a *little* overpriced for the area and portions. While that wouldn't keep me away from coming back while in the area, it wouldn't be a regular joint for me if I lived in Billings. Would recommend if looking to spend a little more or splurge, and have a nice dinner. read more

We are new to the area and it was our 24th anniversary. I told my husband to surprise me. He made reservations at Walkers. We both had never been. Walked in and the atmosphere was very nice and modern. We were seated right away and our waitress was prompt in coming to get our drink order. I ordered the Kat n mouse (can't remember what my husband got). Mine was delicious and my husband enjoyed his too. For appetizers he got the deviled eggs and also the spicy cauliflower. Both were great I loved the original flavors and them both being non traditional then most restaurants. Next we ordered. I got the 1/2 roasted chicken and my husband got the beef short ribs. He enjoyed his and I could smell flavor coming from his. My chicken was just "ok". I was expecting something more flavorful but it was VERY bland and lacked any sort of flavor. And I felt like the outside was not crisped enough. The whole dish was very bland. That was the main reason for my rating. If I'm paying almost $30 for chicken I hope that it comes seasoned and flavorful. That dish was my last impression of Walkers. read more

Wouldn't recommend! Birthday dinner wasn't great- we ordered the appetizer Elote it was served one corn on the cob in the center of the table with a knife for us to remove from the cob. The steak salad was basic and the steak had no flavor ... it was disappointing. None of the dishes we ordered were impressive. The menu needs to be updated they don't offer Nutella Cheesecake anymore and the server stated she didn't think they ever would again so there's that! read more

Let me cut to the chase. Everything from soup to apple crisp is superb. But the excellence of the food has a serious rival: the professionalism of the waitstaff. Reservations are honored on time, without the shilly-shallying of "we have to get your table ready." The server appears promptly and is able to recite the evening's specials without being coaxed to do so. Drinks appear seemingly instantly: no wondering whether your server has forgotten them -- or you. Appetizers and first courses appear right away, too. Come hungry, because you won't have time to work up an appetite. Main courses: let me count the ways Walkers has of satisfying. Think of it this way. There's a world of difference between being filled up and being fully satisfied by the sensory experience of a fine meal. Walkers satisfies. But watch out for the bread! It is so good, along with great butter, that there's a real risk of eating too much. No, I wouldn't like to say how it is I know that... For dessert, my husband and I are convinced that the apple cobbler is the best we've tasted, ever. It is scrumptious. How can a so-often banal dessert rise to the realm of the transcendent? I don't actually know. But it does. The price point at Walkers is just a little higher than nearby restaurants, but without in any way holding back, on separate evenings we found the tab at the two places was identical. The total experience, though, was like the difference between Crown Royal and Maker's Mark. The decor is simple and elegant, fully embracing the Western theme that Billings restaurants seem to require without being heavy-handed about it. Walkers is a restaurant in a small Western city that could knock itself up against fine dining establishments in far more cosmopolitan settings. Yet it achieves this without the pretentiousness of its nearby competition. If you'd like to be filled up, Walkers can certainly manage that. But they'll do far more, and that is to satisfy. If you can dine at Walkers more often than we can because of where we live, lucky you read more

Stick to the bar here. It's as good a bar as you'll ever dine at ! The restaurant itself is very nice with one minor flaw. The chairs/seats are horrible. They are slick and seem to try and force you out of them. It's the strangest thing we've ever seen in a restaurant. I actually visited there around 20 times back when they first opened and now we only go if we can get in early and sit around the bar area. The food is good and the service is good. There's not a lot of options on food but what they do serve is good. Again, if you're from out of town and in the area, arrive early, sit at the bar or one of the tables (they also have a large tapas table near the bar) and relax with appetizers. Ambiance: Very nice, urban cowboy, I really liked the barbwire chandeliers. Service: Great, I mean really great. Some of the best service I have had in recent memory. Prompt, courteous, knowledgeable, sense of humor. Food: Lacking. Walker Salad - 3 crumbles of cheese, 2 bite size pieces of bacon. Overall flavorless. Kraft and iceberg lettuce would have been tastier. Salsicce Pizza - tasted like my mom's homemade pizza growing up, you know, Raggu out of the can, shredded mozz out of the bag, and undercooked bread-like dough. The cheese was barely melted, the sauce had way too much white onion. I love my mom, I just don't want her cooking when Im at a pseudo-expensive restaurant. This place came up near the top on Yelp for Billings, so I thought I'd give it a shot. I must've missed something in the descriptions because I didn't realize how upscale Walkers was gonna be until I walked in and had a seat. It's not as fancy as Ruth's Chris, say, but still formal enough to make me uncomfortable as I sat by myself and tried to read a magazine. The prices are a little steep ($34 for Scampi Prawns??) but you do get a good-size portion. The menu is full of interesting items (Crispy Duck, Sea Bass) but missing a few things you'd think would be no-brainers (Fillet Mignon, New York Strip). I ordered the Buffalo Osso Buco, marinated in Cabernet Sauvignon then cooked in its own juices. Little did I know this was code for roast beef tasting of stale warm wine. Live and learn. I also had the Little Neck Clams as an appetizer and they - along with the broth they were served in - were phenomenal! If I had stopped at the clams, it would've been a great (if not very filling) meal. A restaurant with great service and great food is a no-brainer for return trips time after time. I don't think Walker's is one of those places. The service was fantastic (Olivia, your hair ROCKED and your smile was even better. And much respect to you or whoever came up with the line, "I've got secrets. Wanna hear'em?") but the food was too busy for my taste. I WILL, however, say that the bar seems like a great place to take a young lady for the foo-foo drink of her choice. Despite Olivia, I'd have to be really bored to make a return trip to Walker's. read more

Felt like I was back in the Bay Area instead of remote Montana! the food: Ceaser salad - top notch and very tasty Scallops entree (spicy)- I not the biggest scallop fan to begin with, but I took a chance on this entree and it was just okay, probably better options off of the grill, but sometimes its good to try something different! It's been about 12 years since my previous visits to Walkers and I was pleased to find that they are still there on my last visit to Billings. I'm not sure if it was their original location or just their old location that visited in the late 90's, but their new location (at least new to me) is easier to get to/find. It seems like they now have more of a western theme than before . . .I don't remember the cow skull and barbed wire light fixtures. I will say it's the best I've experienced in Billings. I ate dinner at the bar, it's not very big, and I had to get the bartenders (2 of them) attention a few times rather than them noticing who needed something. I observed a few other patrons in the same situation. But, overall a good experience. read more

The best plates at this restaurant are the cheapest :) The bacon wrapped dates are delicious as well as the pinchos. I have also had the buffalo osso bucco it was good but not worth over $30. The lamb meatballs were a little dry and the cheese truffles are very unbalanced too much cheese not enough coating. I would say that their prices are much much higher then they should be especially for the billings area. If you are labeled as a tapas bar you should have several plates ranging from $2-8 a plate this place is more like $4-14 per plate. read more

Great food, nice atmosphere. The food is about as good as I've had in Montana, the waitstaff is friendly, and the atmosphere is just casual enough to be comfortable. You can't go wrong eating at Walkers. My only real complaint with this place is they don't seem to understand how tapas usually work. Typically the table orders several tapas, you share it around, and then you order another round (or three). The one time we tried to order this way the tapas servings weren't prepared for sharing and the wait staff didn't check in regularly to see if we wanted more rounds. But hey, Billings is a long way from Spain and the normal food is pretty dang good. read more

Tonight my husband and I decided to try somewhere we've never been. We weren't overly excited about the food but we got dessert and that was good. The good: Ambiance is classy and jazzy. Not pompous as some of the higher end places can be. I appreciated the piano playing in the bar area separated by a semi wall and loved the painted barbed wire chandeliers. The bad: Brussels sprout side medley was charcoal burnt on the lamb dish. The lamb was requested as medium but was BARELY medium rare (some parts were inedible). Redemption leading to 3 star recovery: Under different circumstances cooking the lamb and veggies badly would not even get 3 stars but the food that was done well was superb. The hummus was delicious and I consider myself somewhat of a hummus expert. The mint beef satay salad was also done very nicely. The good food along with the impressive atmosphere definitely earned 3 stars despite the bad. read more

I saw this place leaving Jakes one night. I came here to check it out the next week. What can I say? There seemed to be some cute girls walking in and out. I wasn't disappointed. I sat down at the bar and was immediately served, a good sign! They gave me some bread to knosh on, killer salt crust to boot! I ordered the lettuce cups and sweet potato fries. They really need the pork belly as a dish in itself. I would sell your mother for a plate full of this pork belly. So. Good. The short of it?
