My favorite thing about the the weekend is BRUNCH. Like really..., what's better then eating breakfast and lunch food at the same time? I was in Bartlett today and decided to visit Wally Hatchet's. They were the 1st restaurant that popped up on my Yelp and decided to give it a try. The food was really good and freshly made. My chicken and waffles were bombbbb The chicken was fried to perfection and the waffle had a great crisp edge and sooo soft on the inside. I typically don't leave reviews, mostly because I prefer only to leave a review if I've had a good experience BUT this experience was so bad that I'm hoping I save someone from spending their hard earned money and time at Wally Hatchet's. The customer service is TERRIBLE. The lady that sat us was nice. But the lady that took our order came up after 10 minutes and said "yall know what you want yet" in the most disgusting tone and horrible body language...just terrible. It wiped the smile off my face as I was originally eager to give this place a try. I tried not to overthink her demeanor and told myself let's just see how she comes back around but at conclusion it was clear as day that she didn't want to serve us. Our food was cold and burnt and incorrect (I ordered sausage but received bacon, still I said nothing bc I could tell she did not want to be bothered with us) but since we noticed she seemed more annoyed to have to serve us we decided to just go ahead with our soggy and burnt food after waiting for an extended amount of time. My husbands sausage was BURNT beyond eating so we decided to let her know. We said "hey the sausage is burnt and" but before we could finish getting our words out and ask if we could have fresh sausage she walks off while saying "I'll take it off" with a very annoyed tone. We tried to brush this off as well. Few minutes pass and instead of us asking her if we could replace our sausage we decide to get our hostess attention to ask for our check. We then received our check from our waitress and she annoyingly says "the sausage is taken off, it's the same without it" and walked away before we could even get another word out. We had told ourselves maybe if we order something to go, that the food would be something to bring us back for a THIRD CHANCE. But she never came by so we went to the counter to pay & she was dead silent, i waited for her to make some kind of eye contact so i could smile or try to pull her in for conversation but she never did so i handed her my card, she prints the receipts and hands it to me, STILL ZERO WORDS and ZERO EYE CONTACT, just noises and unprofessional body language, and as I was signing she remained silent and walks away. She never grabs the receipt from me that I signed and walks away as I was signing. I chose not to tip. HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE customer service. Being the bigger person I still place her pen and receipt on her side of the counter because I did not want to match her disrespect with disrespect. The food being cold could have been fixed but customer service cannot. I have never in my life felt compelled to leave a review but my hopes are that nobody has to experience this. It makes me wonder why WE were singled out and I do mean singled out because after noticing how we were being treated I paid attention to how she was serving everyone else. I feel terrible for the owners bc I know they worked hard to get this place up and running. This lady is a terrible face and representation of all that Wally Hatchet's can be. read more

I had the philly cheese steak sandwich. Good price and size but needed more seasoning and cheese. Potatoes were good but need salt. Service was good. The waiter like others in Memphis asked if I wanted change back which drives which is a pet peeve of mine. Handing him a $20 bill for a $12 meal would be a $8 tip at 60%. i left $3 or 25% instead. My sister and I stumbled upon the gem that is Wally Hatchet's today when we were looking for a brunch spot in/near Bartlett. I'm SO glad we ended up here. This place is seriously cute. There is some music theming throughout that I love and sounds like it's not an empty theme either -- they have live music on certain days! Love that! I ordered the pickle chips (deep fried pickles) and the "pour some gravy on me" which is biscuits, gravy, topped with eggs. I got them over easy and they were PERFECT. If you sing this order then they bring out a surprise! So. Fun!!! Everything was delicious aside from the biscuits. They were super dense and hard. That was disappointing since it's central to the dish BUT overall I'm so happy with this experience. The pickle chips were YUMMY! My sister got chicken and waffles and holy smokes. It was DELICIOUS! The chicken was moist and crispy and the waffle tasted great. We were both really happy with the coffee we ordered as well as our amazing server! She was great. The order included eggs, which they forgot. And when we reminded the waiter, the fellow snapped "It's coming!" Then he tossed an extra plate on the table, without eye contact, without stopping to place it. The pancakes were not hot and the food was just ok. But mostly I felt a little sad for the waiter, in a way. I truly did. He clearly didn't want to be there. Life is too short to hate your job that much. Great family restaurant. The owner and several of his children were on staff. There was a bit of bragging to my daughter than the pancakes taste like cupcakes and when they arrived, it was spot on. I found this spot on Yelp and wanted to give them a try for a Labor Day brunch. It was a pretty cool and chill experience. When we walked in, we were told to sit wherever we wanted. My husband and I chose a seat near a window and we were immediately greeted by our waitress. She took our appetizer orders. While we waited, someone else came to check to make sure that we were being taken care of. I can say for sure that they were very attentive, which I appreciated! The cheese curds were really good with both the marinara and the ranch! I'm pretty sure my husband ate over half of them but I really enjoyed what I ate. They were fresh and very crispy. I ordered the "Throw some gravy on me" biscuits and gravy. I didn't sing the song to get the special treat this time. Lol. They were pretty good but I did add a little more more salt and pepper. Came here for breakfast and loved it! We got to the restaurant around 8:30 on a Saturday morning and could get a table right away. Jeanine, our server, was very friendly and had great service. We both got breakfast sandwiches - Thunder and Funky chicken and both were great. The sausage gravy is excellent. Loved that the funky chicken came on waffle wedges - they were delicious. My husband got a side of pancakes and they were delicious as well. Great prices and more then generous period sizes. Will definitely be back! read more

Let me start off by saying our waitress Katie was adorable and very helpful. The owner is here and the first thing he says when we walk in is how y'all doing ?? I made white beans and ham with fresh cornbread for y'all. That was so cool to welcome us this way !! Well of course we had to order it and it did not disappoint. So good !! My hubby (it's his birthday!) ordered a beef patty with brown gravy, mushrooms and onions. So good. Pair that with a side of collard greens and corn nuggets. Wow so different !! Delicious!! Not the best food. Fried catfish had so much grease it was literally puddled on top of the filets. I think they took it straight from fryer and dropped it in the plate. I used about 10 napkins trying to make it edible. Do not get the hamburger steak. It's literally a reheated hamburger patty with fake brown gravy. Ugh. Onion rings were dripping in grease as well. I don't think the cook knows they are supposed to drain the grease before serving the food. Definitely not worth a trip back. The 3 stars is for the nice waiter. read more
