So this is not for the healthy. This is just straight delicious ness. And it's freshly cooked right in front of you!! My favorite meal. The ham and cheese omelet with the hash browns smothered covered diced and peppered. If you know you know!! Then the pecan pancake to make your breakfast masterpiece complete. Now it's a lot of food so make it two meals and then you get to enjoy it twice. Service is fast and efficient. The ambience is diner style with a Juke box. To those people that live in the south, "Waffle House" is a household name. They are EVERYWHERE. And with well over 2,000 locations, primarily situated in the southeastern part of the United States, this no-frills, greasy spoon, cholesterol induced comfort food has been filling up Americans since the 1950's. The location I am focusing on is located on Sycamore View Rd. in the east part of Memphis just a mile from Highway 40. Since I was flying in from out of town, my hotel was in close proximity to this particular Waffle House. I came here on the evening of Friday, September 24th 2021 at around 10:00pm and was starving. Since the dining area was closed for the evening, I went to the walk-up window and placed my order. I ended up going with a breakfast platter that consisted of two scrambled eggs, bacon, hash browns, white toast (that included jelly), and of course their famous single waffle. Prices here are affordable beyond recognition; my whopping platter with a soda only cost me about $10 for everything. All my food was ready within a very quick 5 minutes. Once I took the quite drive back to my hotel, I immediately was flabbergasted just how much food they give you here. Everything was piping hot and ready to be consumed. The eggs were cooked perfectly while the toast had a pretty hefty amount of salted butter prior to my spreading the sweet jelly over it. Bacon was greasy as expected as I assumed this stuff was cooked in lard. Hash browns were crispy on the outside with a soft texture on the inside. The waffle was fluffy and sweet and with their own house syrup, that only compliments to the added sweetness. This place is true southern comfort food at its finest. I can only imagine the amount of calories, sodium, and cholesterol I consumed on this platter as it is not the type of food to be eaten every day (or in my case, at night). But for the price, portions, and overall taste of this classic American staple, I was definitely not disappointed. My rating for the Sycamore View Rd. Waffle House food slaps leaving a bad review because it's not really a 24/7 sit down meal. They do Togo only at night and on top of that charge a 20% gratuity. 10% for doing a Togo meal and 10% for something else. It's just this location that I've seen so probs won't ever come back to this one. read more

My biggest reason for coming to Waffle House is their home fries, which o must add various toppings. I usually went with their patty melt, though this last time I went with a breakfast. ALWAYS CHECK YOUR CARRY OUT ORDER!!! Tried to call an order in, no one answered the phone. So husband went there, ordered, and waited. When he got to the car he realized that they had left out his waffle. He went back in and got it. When I opened my food, it was incorrect. He had ordered a plain omelet for me. No meat, no cheese, just egg. It had more cheese than egg. And what egg there was was saturated in oil. Tried to call them again, big surprise, no answer. Husband offered to take the cheese omelet back and get me what was ordered. It wasn't even worth it so I just threw it away. Waste of my money and waste of his time. read more

Good Food, Fast Service and Great Price!!! My type of place!!! My husband and I opted to cross the parking lot of our hotel in Memphis and go to the Waffle House for breakfast. We haven't graced their doors before in Nashville and it has been awhile since we even sat down in a Waffle House anywhere..so why not?? We went in and grabbed a booth at the end and was immediately greeted by our server to get our drink orders. I opted for my usual Unsweetened tea with lemon (no lime here) and Tony ordered Black Coffee HOT and Strong!!! While looking over the menu, I grabbed my android so I could figure out the points for my meal choice. I opted for the BLT with out mayo and got the mayo on the side and no fries. Tony opted for a couple Blueberry Waffles and a large Glass of cold milk with maple syrup. We both agreed it was a very good meal and it was only $13 with taxes. Can't beat that with a stick!!!! and the food was really good, the service was fast and friendly..would definitely eat here again!!! Service terrible. Older lady very rude laughing at me. Flipped me the bird when I left. Charged 2 people $1.00 each for water. When I asked her about it she got nasty. Very unprofessional. Will never go back there. Water is complimentary anywhere else. She says they just started charging for water. There is nothing posted anywhere about the up charge for water. Not on menu either. Waffle house has lost my business permanently. Post the changes at front door. In addition,she solicited a tip when I went to pay. If I was not charged surprisingly for water and treated rudely they would have gotten a tip. I always tip 20 percent any time I eat out. read more

My husband and I stopped at this location while on a trip to Arkansas. I was shocked at the filth and dirt EVERYWHERE on the floors, walls, etc. I really can't see how they would pass a health inspection! Grease was smeared on the walls and while we were eating they carried a big bucket of grease and set it by the office door. There was also some kind of employee problem going on right in front of us and you could tell things were getting heated. Our waitress was very apologetic because they couldn't get our order right and had to go back several times to remake our meal. My bacon was burnt and my waffle was so thin that it almost broke into pieces. I have never had an experience like this before and think management needs to close this location and CLEAN EVERYTHING and get new staff! We won't be back. YUCK!! read more

Look we all know th e food at the waffle house is what it is.... completely uninspired fare... but it certainly isn't bad... who doesn't love breakfast for dinner? I haven't been to all that many Waffle Houses, they are all pretty much the same, indifferent waitstaff, and dirty as heck floors, counters, dishes, silverware and pretty much any other surface. Now this particular WH has to have the absolute worst "servers" in the damned world... Ya'll are making just over 2 bux an hour plus tips... at least freaking pretend to care if you have a customer. First of all, when you choose a Waffle House, you don't expect certain things. You don't expect a super clean place. You don't expect to have a 4-star meal. You don't expect to get the cleanest glasses. Having said that, this place is no exception. The service was nice. The young man who seemed to be the manager was very friendly. I kind of like this chain. It's not popular enough to where it sucks, but every time I've gone it hits the spot. I ate at this particular hut, during a cross-country drive from Virginia Beach to Riverside, Ca. I hadn't eaten anything substantial for 12 hours. I ordered the All-Star and chose a waffle over the biscuit and gravy. Actually I ordered a second waffle because waffles are better in pairs. I think I finished my entire meal in less than 3 minutes. I didn't think I was capable of eating like a wild animal, but I guess long drives and not stopping for food can bring out the animal in anyone. The after dinner cig was phenomenal! There's a sort of charm about the Waffle House chain. It's always open. There are characters galore who pass through there. It's your All-American diner/greasy spoon. You can't pass through Memphis without getting your hashbrowns chopped, smothered, slaughtered (I made that up), and served up hot to fill your belly. You can get hash browns served with a variety of toppings -- and I implore you to try them: scattered, smothered, covered, chunked, topped & diced (onions, cheese, ham, chili and diced tomatoes). Hearing the server repeat it is worth the trip in itself. I don't know why, but it's giggle-inducing. They also serve the usual diner food -- burgers, chop steak, patty melts, and omelettes. And don't forget your shot of creamer with your meal when you're done. According to my Cookeville cousins, 'It's a tradition.' The staff is extremely rude and never spoke when we walked in. About the time we were going to leave the waiter walked up and seemed fairly nice. We ordered our food and waited. During our wait we observed the crew interacting like 16 year olds in high school. Quite a few of the women did not have WF hats or head attire on. When the food arrived it was descent. The service was amazing and quick the staff is friendly and shows great effort in doing their jobs seeing them cook is something great to see as well as seeing them clean is great to know what I'm eating on the prices are amazingly fair and my time here was absolutely to die for. Walked in to dine. No clean tables. Service was lacking. Servers and cooks are more interested in holding conversations with each other than taking care of guest. We sat down and then had our table cleaned bc it was still dirty when we sat down but the hostess demanded that we just sit anywhere a table is open. The server slung dirt and crumbs all in our laps and thought it was okay. Food was not up to the standard I normally receive. My omelet was half the portion I normally receive and tasted awful.
