I'll be up front about why I didn't dish out that 5th star. Service times in putting in your order over the comms systems, the time it takes to get your order once it's placed, and the customer interaction all play a part here. Not terrible at all. The food is really delish. If you need just a juicy sloppy burger, this is the spot. I have been here during busy and slow times. I can't quite figure out why sometimes responses and food delivery are slow or fast. It doesn't seem like it's based on customers present. If I had to guess....I'd say staffing. But that's speculation. What really got me is that when you get your food, it's just a binary interaction. I almost feel like it's an assembly line. Like, ok, here comes my food. Let me pay and eat and just go. I didn't feel the magic. That's ok though. My reviews have always primarily been centered around the customer experience. I love to enjoy where I eat. What can I say?? I love a good ol' fashioned drive-in, especially one that serves milkshakes. To say we couldn't resist stopping by Wally's in Buckley while staying at the Tiny Home Hotel would be an understatement. I went for the traditional cheeseburger with a side of onion rings and their version of a Blizzard (was it a Whizzle?!? I can't remember the name), while my dining companion opted for a double-patty chili cheeseburger with a side of fried mushrooms and Wally sauce, plus a chocolate milkshake. We pulled up and scored a drive-in spot (one of only a couple - this place was popping for lunch on a warm sunny day), and after taking some time with the menu, placed our order. It arrived within just a few minutes (yay!) - and don't forget to tip your server, ours was kind, helpful and all smiles. We dug in immediately - my cheeseburger was piping hot, with melty American cheese, lettuce, tomato and a juicy patty. My dining companion's chili cheeseburger arrived open face and covered in chili and cheese, thankfully they also provided a fork 'cause there was no picking this burger up. The onion rings were okay, crispy and a good combo of sweet and savory, but the mushrooms with Wally sauce were the real stars - we fought over the last one! Finally, the icing on top was the milkshakes - so cold, we couldn't even start on them until a few minutes had passed, and super creamy and sweet. Really disappointed in the horrible service. My Son just got back from the Army and I wanted to take him to Wally's. I got the AYCE Fish n Chips and I noticed they don't come up and ask if you want a refill on your fish, so I got up to ask for a refill and they stared at me like I was holding a gun and seemed scared and confused at my request. Really bizarre behavior and once they understood what I wanted, they seemed annoyed at me. I left after that. Paid $18 for AYCE Fish and I walked out after just one refill. Maybe that's their strategy to keep you from asking for a refill on fish. Step 1. Ignore you. Step 2. Act like they don't know what you're talking about. Step 3. I stopped in here for the first time; ordered a bacon cheeseburger and small fry. The fries were thick cut with the skins on, crisp and crunchy on the out side soft and potatoey on the inside, tasty Wally sauce to dip in, delicious. While traveling around for work I wanted to get a classic cheeseburger and fries kind of meal, so found I was near Wally's Drive-In. And when it says drive-in, it's an actual drive-in, where cars pull up in the lot, order and eat in their car. Unfortunately for me, all of the parking spots were taken for drive-in, so parked and ordered inside. Social distancing is enforced, with staff wearing masks. After ordering, they also ask that people wait outside for their food and to cash out. I ordered a classic cheeseburger, fries and a butterscotch milkshake. The food took about 15 minutes to get, as everything is made to order. The beef patties aren't frozen here, which is a plus! The menu features a lot of different kind of burgers, with fish and chips, chicken strips, sundaes, shakes, etc. After I got my order I saw there was an area for outdoor seating, so ate there. The cheeseburger was solid. There wasn't much to it, but the classic lettuce, tomato, onion, fry sauce, and American cheese melted on the patty. But would you expect anything more? It was what I had hoped. The fries though were awesome! They were some of the best fries I've had! They were hand-cut, seasoned, crispy, crunchy and were even better dipped in the housemade ranch. Get some! The butterscotch milkshake was one of the best shakes I've had. It was thick, creamy, with lots of butterscotch flava! Don't forget to order a milkshake with whatever you eat from here! I saw that they're known for their fish and chips, which I may have to try someday whenever I'm in Buckley. But most of the people on the day I visited were eating fish and chips and were talking about the AYCE fish and chips special they have on certain days when they have dine-in (which they don't at this time). Bookmarked for next time! Glad to have discovered an old school drive-in spot that's hard to come by nowadays. What a great atmosphere and really killer food. My wife and I split the 2 piece fish and chips and the Popcorn Shrimp and chips. Good seasoning, large portions, and prompt service. I only have 2 complaints. The Tartar sauce could use a little pick me up. Not a lot of flavor. I will def bring my own next time. The other is price. This place reminds me of Sonic. My Husband & I stopped by after our camping weekend (4/2719-4/29/19). We were feelin a burger but instead got the Fish and Chips (2pc $13.99). We learned after the fact that they had the All you can eat Fish n chips with coleslaw & chowder for $12.99 (Dine in only). The portions were pretty big and satisfying. We could not finish our meal. We ended our lunch with a vanilla cone and strawberry Sunday with cherry on top. We would come back again and try other food on the menu. read more

Only reason for knocking one star off: the front door is designed in such a way that it looks like a push/swinging door. Call me crazy, but poorly designed doors have been driving me batty lately. Stopped by here on the way back from the trailheads in Federation Forest. Ordered a Double Hamburger with Large Fries, and a Large Root Beer. Now when it comes to prompt service, especially when there aren't many customers around, this place did not deliver. Food was luke warm when I received it, and the total price was around $27 for those 3 items. The ingredients for the burger were not fresh, and were all mushed together. The onions were soft, instead of firm and crunchy. The customer service consisted of all women in short shorts and leggings, not sure where the managers/owners are going with that, but it didn't seem like customer service was their strong suit, as when we asked for an update on our food, we were told to hold on, and that employee never came back to tell us when we would get our food (30 minutes later). The one reason I would give 2 stars is the nostalgia this place gave me for the drive up, order from your parking spot type of restaurant, brought me back to the days I would go to A&W and we would order the same way. I would not recommend for a quick stop, burger place, as the prices are so steep, you'd easily spend over $75 to feed 3 people, and also due to customer service seemingly non-existent. read more

Was driving thru Buckley and decided to give Wallys a try. I am soooo glad we did. I had the Steak dip. It was amazing. We decided to get something to take home too and they had a new Philly burger they were trying out. We got a couple and took them home. I certainly do not recommend Wally's. I was surprised by my experience after reading a handful of awesome reviews. I was rolling back into town after up at the mountain all day and needed a quick bite to eat with my family. Wally's was the closest to us and seemed to be highly rated. But come to my surprise I wasn't so pleased with the food, quality, and overpriced options. This place looks cool, but don't let it fool you. I do not recommend. All 7 of us ordered a different burger, side, and drink. Not one of us were satisfied. Not only in the moment but later at night when we all felt sick to our stomachs. Talk about the middle of nowhere... we were in Enumclaw for a softball tournament and found this place nearby. They are located in Buckley. Love the homey, humble feel of this place. They do a drive-in option, but we opted to go inside. My bf ordered the bacon cheeseburger w/ fries and an Oreo milkshake (they call it something else). I tried the peanut butter shake. His burger was delicious! I'd like to say I know a good burger when I taste one... and they definitely set a high standard for theirs. The meat was succulent and everything blended well - the sesame bun, cheese, etc. The fries were not good in my opinion. Way too starchy and thick. I guess I prefer a thinner cut. His Oreo milkshake was tasteful... the peanut butter milkshake wasn't to my liking. A little too artificial tasting. Overall, great little place to stop by if you're ever in the area. I wasn't sure if the drive in intercom was working, but after a few min of silence, a girl came on asking to take our order. we ordered: - whizzers (like mcflurries or blizzards, add oreo butterfinger and what not) - chicken strips and fries $8.99 - french fries I would say the prices here are definitely marked up, $8.99 for chicken strips and fries? Good portion though, 3 big strips and I would say like a small/medium amount of fries. Still expensive in my books for what it is. Food delivery is very slow.
