If any of you are familiar with the concept of DiCarlos Pizza, this is a similar style of pizza. Wally's comes in square slices, sold by the slice. They start by cooking the crust and sauce, and then putting the cheese and toppings on after it's cooked, letting the steam slowly warm them. I will say, it's probably not for everyone, but I love this pizza so much! It's a thin style, chewy crust, a sweet sauce and a generous amount of cheese. You can order by the slice, order a 1/2 tray which is about 16 slices or a full tray. I may be a little partial because I grew up on this pizza and now I live out of state, but I always drop by when i'm in the area, and sometimes make a special trip there just for their pizza! Stopped in while traveling thinking this was a full-service restaurant. It isn't. There is no dining room nor is there a restroom for customers. My family ordered a couple of slices. They took a good 20 minutes to be ready. The cheese was unmelted and the crust a strange consistency. However, my wife liked the sweet sauce. I ordered a BLT sub which they forgot to make as part of the order. The bacon was in little crumbles versus slices which fell out of the sandwich. The bread was good though. I am frankly baffled by the positive reviews for this place. The pizza is unusual, but not in a good way. I have absolutely no desire to return here and would not recommend. read more

Wally's has a unique style of pizza I have found nowhere else. The crust has the crunch of a thin pizza but is not thin. This is flat out the best pizza you can find. Anywhere. I kid you not. I grew up on this pizza and every time I go back to Cambridge I make it a point to get a full tray of extra cheese and pepperoni pizza. The pizza is so unique, there's nothing quite like it. The slices are perfectly square, with a robust helping of sweet sauce and the crust is of a thin variety with the end pieces having nice, doughy (but cooked) crusts for you to nosh on. The pepperoni and cheese is added after the crust and sauce comes out of the oven which allows them to melt in a glorious pile of gooey deliciousness. You really don't need to know anything other to order here then simple pepperoni and cheese and, if you're not watching your cholesterol, add extra cheese! If you do feel the need for something else though they have an incredible italian sub. This place is not only great tasting but it's very inexpensive. Just a note, be aware that this is a carry-out type restaurant. There's a couple of chairs and one small table I think but you really just need to get your pizza and get home and enjoy it there...which is probably for the best as you will be stuffing your face with it, LOL! I brought the fam down to see the Charles Dickens displays and stopped in for a half tray of pep with extra sauce. This was my first foray into Ohio Valley style pizza and man, have I been missing out. I ate 3 of their half trays in 3 days. So much delicious cheese and such a flavorful sauce. Perfect pizza, reminds me of DiCarlos outside Wheeling. Super crispy crust, delicious sweet sauce, and a really flavorful, thinly shredded cheese. They bake the dough and sauce and when it comes out of the oven it gets hit with the toppings and cheese. We stopped by on our way through town for dinner, ordered online on the road which was super convenient. The food was delicious. We had a large order for 9 people at the hotel nearby and the staff was kind enough to help me to my car with it. The near lovers pizza is phenomenal and the wings were out of this world, we had garlic parm which tasted almost like an Alfredo and had bourbon sriracha, both sauces were unbelievably tasty. The only thing better here than the food was the friendly customer service. This place makes me wish I'd live closer. We will be back next time we are passing through. read more

Was in town to see family this is the local pizza everyone talks about. I grew up and live in MD so we have a huge selection but here in this small area there are only a few and people swear by this place so I ordered a party tray for my family of 6 and it was huge and the real kicker is it was only $20.95 for a 18" x 26" party tray, we literally had like 1/4 of the pizza left over. It was a different style then I'm use to but I liked it they bake the crust I believe and rebake it with all the toppings it makes for a really crispy crust and the tomato sauce was delicious it was kind of sweet but a tiny bit tart the cheese was some kind of mozzarella but it had a smooth texture I really enjoyed this pizza my kids tore it up, it's a heck of a deal compared the the Baltimore DC metro area where we live where u pay that for a 16" round pizza I'll gladly return if I'm ever in the area visiting family it's a old school pizza place with counter service and they even have a pickup drive thru window. My husband is a huge fan of another pizza place that originated in Stuebenville. He is super picky about his pizza. I found Wally's in Yelp while he was based in Cambridge for his job. We live in the Mt Perry area west of Zanesville so I drove out to visit him and we gave Wally's a try. We were not disappointed!! Excellent service and the pizza was everything we hoped for. We will be back even if it involves a road trip from home. Fresh ingredients, clean environment and two small tables and Flat Screen inside. Plenty of seating Outdoors. Not only would we recommend Wally's, we already did, to hubby's other crew members that are staying here. Only complaint I can think of is they serve Pepsi products so no Coke. This looked like a local favorite, so I thought I'd give it a whirl. Well, maybe it's an acquired taste, but it didn't resonate well with me. The ingredients were fine, but the pizza seemed odd in terms of how it was assembled -- as others have mentioned, it's more like the toppings are layered, well, on top of the pizza, instead of baked into the sauce and beneath the cheese. That makes the pieces (squares, not triangles) somewhat difficult to handle, since it feels like the toppings are sliding around, er, on top of the pizza. (Okay, so the word "toppings" really applies in this case.) The sauce was good, as were the ingredients on an individual basis ... the sum of the parts just didn't add up for me. But it is unique, and if you think the only styles of pizza are New York and Chicago (and Italy), you might want to give it a try. read more

Horrid pizza! I had just moved here and ordered a pizza from Wally's. When I went to pick up they pulled a crust out of the oven that only had sauce on it. Then they added the toppings and cheese and I thought they would stick it back in the oven, but, NO-- they just stuck it in a box and handed it to me-- the cheese was cold , pepperoni was not even warm. Certainly not the usual pizza taste when all the flavors meld together, cheese melts, etc. It didn't even smell like pizza-- in fact it smelled so bad I couldn't eat it. Gross Pizza ... Crust over baked sauce and cheese ice cold and pepperoni uncooked too. The flavor of the sauce is like sauce straight out of a metal can (off brand for sure). I grew up in the area and never understood why people liked this place but decided to give them another chance and they have only got worse... very sad and no plans to go back!! read more

As a local, I grew up eating Wally's pizza and consider it a guilty pleasure. I recommend it the most as a drive through lunch order because their pizza is best eaten fresh and the lunch price is awesome! Not everyone loves their pizza, but I am always tempted to drive through and get a couple slices to eat while on the road. Definitely worth a try! And definitely better than Dominos! read more

I think the pizza from Wally's is probably going to be one of those things in life you either love or leave. They have a unique way of adding ingredients after the pizza has already been cooked, meaning the ingredients don't really cook into the dough and the cheese is sprinkled on top after that. I purchased a large supreme pizza and found it difficult to eat as everything slid off the dough after picking up a slice due to this cooking method. I was not a huge fan and prefer my ingredients more "well done" than those found at Wally's. read more
