I'm giving this place 4 stars simply because of service and staff. The wait staff is beyond young and inexperienced. In addition, you sign in for your reservation before leaving your home and then have to sign in again when you get there - makes zero sense. I realize with Covid there's a shortage of good help, so hopefully they'll get it together by next summer. I would have given this place 5 stars as the food is great, lots of options for us vegan eaters and non-vegan eaters. I had two meals there in my week here and if it hadn't been for the service I would highly recommend it. Also, I obviously should've asked but didn't know it was BYOB until I arrived. Didn't notice it on the online menu and would've been good to get a heads up on that so I could bring a bottle. read more

While the service and atmosphere were great, the food was not. My husband and I ordered coconut shrimp and ceviche as an appetizer. The coconut shrimp was burnt and the ceviche was good, but it wasn't really ceviche ...call it what it is, shrimp salad. I had to send the coconut shrimp back (which the waiter offered to have it re-made), but it came out just as bad and it seems like they tried to "fix" my first batch and the shrimp now tasted like rubber. Our meal was not better, the sausage flat bread was clearly reheated so it was over cooked and the quinoa burger was mushy, had no flavor, and the roll was stale. Wally's rocks again. I absolutely love this place. Service (Kyle) was amazing with our large group! The vegan selections are so varied and I love it considering my daughter has a dairy allergy. Everyone was happy with their meals. Large portions and wide selections. Byo is a huge plus. We had the coffee cake people rave about but it's too buttery for my taste. I would guess this may be a better place for breakfast than dinner. It's a BYOB place with a cute old soda fountain look. The restaurant and especially their 1 person rest room was remarkably clean. Our family got there early since we had small children with us and were able to get the $16.95 early bird dinner special which included a soup or salad, soft drink and any entree on the menu. I ordered the clam chowder along with the scallops which are supposed caught only 8 miles down the road. On the bill it said the name of our waitress was Cheryl, although I don't recall her actually introducing herself. She was attentive while she took our orders and brought out our drinks and food, but then didn't see her again until it was time for the check. The 2 folks in the booth next to us only left a $1.00 tip which is wrong in many ways, but should have sent a message. They forgot to bring out the happy face waffles for the youngest in the group and finally did when most of us were finished eating. My clam chowder wasn't bad, but certainly not up to New England standards. It had the texture of a pudding with way too much starch in it. The scallops were excellent. Four nice size over orzo and asparagus. Very tasty! No refills on drinks, not that Cheryl even came by to ask even with me being without a beverage for most of the meal. We were overcharged by one soda which was credited after bringing to their attention. They may be #1 on Tripadvisor, but most likely for breakfast. Dinner is a totally different story. read more

Fuck this place. I am clearly super upset because I have never written a review before. I used to come here all the time. They turned me and two other people away at 9.00 on the dot. We expressed that all we wanted to eat was one appetizer. I will never step foot in here again. We would've been there exactly at 8.58 if the two people in front of us were not asking questions. Nonetheless, it's not about the closing time and us showing up exactly at it. It's about the customer service after I expressed how upset I was. My friends and I were looking forward to the cauliflower bites all day. We would've tipped heavily and been so grateful. Considering we were 10+ people, we were seated within a reasonable amount of time, say 15 minutes from check in. Our waitress was friendly and made some recommendations for food that I followed completely. Their corned beef hash, billed as world's greatest or something like that is delish but I'm not sure about the greatest part. My eggs, ordered over medium, were overcooked so I had no yolk to soak up with my marble rye. Anyway, breakfast for me was terrific but the highlight is definitely the crumb cake. Everyone else in the group seemed happy and we all left satisfied. Sadly, we didn't make it back during our always too short stay, but we will hit this up again asap. read more

Wallys's has some of the best vegetarian and non vegetarian items on the whole island! We have never had a bad meal, the buffalo collie flower is a must..everything is delicious including breakfast! I'm not big on deserts after a huge meal but they are home made an also amazing. Our favorite servers Linda an Jimmy are always welcoming an have great dinner suggestions. My husband and I were looking for somewhere different than the typical "vacation" spots in Beach Haven, so we stopped in to Wally's for a late lunch/early dinner. My cauliflower soup was very good, with just a touch of heat. We both ordered the Asian Rice Bowl - mine with shrimp, and his with chicken. We couldn't believe the size of these bowls....huge! Neither of us was able to finish our meal, so we packed them up and took them home. There was still enough for dinner last night! The flavor (and the ingredients such as brown rice; carrots; celery; black beans, etc) was delicious! Wally's is also a great place for vegans, or just for more healthy options. The online menu was very enticing, but when I saw the extensive gluten-free offerings I was sold. We went there for dinner last night, and it was great. Convinced my family to drive out of their way so we can go to a breakfast place with vegan options. Well worth it, we all loved our dishes, something for everyone. It was our first time at Wally's and it was such an amazing experience. First, we had a warm welcome by Jimmy and the nice display of the crumb cakes. We had the banana Nutella/strawberry crepe, bacon, and the tasty corn beef hash. Jim made it a memorable experience for not only us but all the surrounding families and children as well. This restaurant is very organized, and the food is it great. I had the salmon and swiss omelette it was very good. My wife had salmon toast with scallion cream cheese, pickled onions, lox, spring salad mix and capers. OMG!!
