Failed A/C Compressor at 13k Miles - Denied Full Coverage, I Took My Business Elsewhere…read more In March 2023, Sun Devil Auto replaced the A/C compressor in my 2005 Ford F-350. Less than 13,000 miles later (well before their 24,000 warranty), and just two months past the 24-month time-based warranty, the compressor failed. When I brought it in, their own team found the system completely empty, recharged it, and added tracer dye to track the leak. A few weeks later, I returned and was told the compressor had failed. This clearly wasn't a sudden breakdown--it had been leaking for a while, meaning the failure began within the warranty period. Not to mention it is well documented that compressors last a minimum of 60,000 miles which points to an install issue and/or faulty part. Despite that, Sun Devil Auto refused to cover the repair in full and offered to pay 50%--which really just looked like them covering their cost on the part, not the labor or my out-of-pocket diagnostic costs. They stuck to a script, pointed at the calendar, and chose policy over doing what's right. Delay in getting vehicle into service prior to 24-month warranty period was due to significant medical issues in my family that understandably took priority. I explained that, but it didn't matter. I acted in good faith and followed their process. They chose not to do the same. I've since declined their offer to cover half (effectively covering their cost) and I am taking my vehicle to another, more reputable shop, where I'll be paying full price for the repair--because I'd rather give my money to a company that stands behind its work and treats people like customers, not case numbers. Sun Devil Auto had a chance to do the right thing. They didn't. Based on my experience, I wouldn't recommend them. There are better options out there.

Booking online was super duper easy and I arrived at 9am Saturday. I was helped right away as there was no else there. The employee went outside, did a check on my tires, and came in with an update. I ended up replacing all 4 as I really don't remember how old my tires were and they were looking rough..... hehe oops. I left my car and around noon I got a text that it was ready to be picked up. The employee who checked me out was friendly and got me outta there in no time. Thank you!

I had to drive around to find the correct ones. I asked for white walls out they mounted them in. Terrible, terrible service and they never reimbursed me for the old tires they sold me that I couldn't use. I had to go to another tire shop to buy ones I could use. I will never ever deal with Pep Boys again. This shop is in Chandler I believe on Guadalupe and Gilbert Rd. Absolutely do not recommend them or any Pep Boys as their corporate office contacted me and promised to reimburse me and never has.

Waiting 2 weeks (and counting) for my car to be repaired. I've heard every excuse there is - received wrong part, ordered wrong part, part doesn't fit, maybe they don't make the part anymore... it'll be fixed today (just kidding), it'll be fixed tomorrow (oops forgot to tell you the guy doesn't work Fridays), it'll be done tomorrow (oops you didn't call us in time and now the guy is gone, the machine is broken, whatever), maybe come back in a week.... Called corporate and he literally said "I used to be a mechanic and sometimes this happens. Are you sure you told them the right problem? Can you repeat everything again? I'll see what I can do" I call every afternoon to see if it's really going to be done today....nope, try again tomorrow 2 weeks of car rentals! I first brought my 2007 F250 to Spencers in Florence on 4/28/26 for issues with my air conditioner…read moreand a whistle coming from the engine area. Basically they did a flush of the AC, got billed $732 and sent me a service report indicating that I had an exhaust leak which I promptly made an appointment to get fixed that was completed on 5/21 and paid $1770.59. I got it back and the truck still had a significant whistle and the AC still was not working. They then said my clutch was gone and that is what was causing the whistle. So on June 3rd I had the clutch replaced so another $3100. When I got it back they said the truck would make some noise with the new clutch, after driving it realized the whistle was even worse and I had lots of noise in the cab. Come to find out when they replaced the clutch they did not reattach the rubber boot to the floorboard. I emailed the manager, called the manager but never received a call back so I made another appointment for the AC and to have the boot reattached. So on June 19th they recharged the AC and drilled 2 new holes and "attempted" to secure the rubber boot to the floor board and told me that my transmission was going out. After 2 days it was back to being loud, I went ahead and order a new rubber boot and the hardware to replace what they didn't fix correctly. I am now out almost $6000 and my truck STILL has a whistle, the AC only works when I'm moving and I had to purchase and fix a new rubber boot for the gearshifter myself. I previously had used Spencers on Combs and never had any issues until I switched to the Florence location. I would be very hesitant to use that location as they don't finish their work and/or leave things undone so you'll have to bring it back and spend more money. I never should have been charged for the last visit on 6/19 as they should have recharged the AC when I brought it in originally in April and they should have reattached the boot CORRECTLY instead of half assing it before giving it back to me.
