This is the truly the worst walmart ive been to for produce. The produce section has everything in bins, no bags to even put the fresh produce in, the customer service is not great. I used to live in Florida and frequently would go to the Wal-Mart there. California definitely isn't a place for Wal-Marts, I went just to pick up a small order (1 item) and it's definitely a hit or miss with the employees, some are kind, courteous and professional, others just hate to be there and it shows. I also went on a Friday at 11am, so very low traffic and at the beginning of the work day, and they're already kinda frustrated? lol. Anyways, I try to avoid going here if possible. read more

It's a Walmart. Big variety of items. Car stuff , garden stuff, home stuff and some groceries even. Could be a little cleaner sometimes. Has a McDonalds which is good if you need a quick meal for the kids while you are out. Good size parking lot. Parking is not usually a problem except for when it's close to holidays. read more

I like coming here during my lunch hour. I can get in and out quite fast. There is a large parking lot and it has its own McD as well and vision center. Definitely a one stop shop for all your needs. I picked up some items from the sporting goods and kitchenware area. Some of the shelf items were misplaced and didn't have the correct pricing. There are staff everywhere but when you ask them for a price check, they are not pleased to help you especially if they do not have a price scanner on them. Their response is to take your item up to the register and then find out the price. Well, what if I used the self-checkout? Then I would have to wait for staff to remove an item and that takes time. Wish they have those self price scanners in the store. I do like how they carry their own brand (Great Value and Equate) so that you can buy things at an affordable price. It is quite a large store so if you really need to shop, you will need about an hour here as this store is quite busy. read more

He was disrespectful to me as an older adult and when I called corporate the person answering the CSD she didn't respond like English was her main language and she had me on hold for 25 minutes until a manager with a heavier accent that I couldn't understand was just as rude. I prefer Target to Walmart but with both of them being MAGA supporters and removing DEI, I try my best to not longer go to either. Walmart makes my head spin when I walk in. if i could give this place a 0, i would. The workers have a "happy to help" vest but when it's time to help they are the RUDEST people i have ever encountered. Instead of even saying "sorry i don't know how to help with that" they just IGNORE you or walk away. It's probably the cleanest Walmart I have ever shopped in!!! The staff are super friendly, super helpful, and always look happy... Not like some locations that look as if they are doing life sentences. LOL... The store is well organized, and stocking levels are usually better than most locations from Burban to Long Beach... I live in Glendale and would rather make the drive to Duarte just to shop at this store.. Kudos to the Employees and Managers for doing an Awesome Job!!! Ordered a smart tv online for pickup at the Walmart in Duarte and received a confirmation of my payment as well as a pickup confirmation. 3 minutes later i get an email telling me my order had been canceled, without explanation as to why. The galling part is that the message also said it would take UP TO 10 DAYS FOR A REFUND of the $$ paid to Walmart for the order. I basically gave one of the richest retailers in the country a short-term loan with my canceled tv order payment. This is infuriating that i'd have to wait any amount of time to be refunded for a Walmart-generated cancelation. I didn't take 10 days to pay for the tv, so why would it take 10 days to give me my $$ back? What if i didn't have the funds available to make this purchase elsewhere due to Walmart's delay in returning my payment? What if this purchase was on behalf of another person? What if it was a gift? What if i needed it for an event or specific occasion? I used the little remaining $$ in my account and went to Best Buy online and had a seamless hassle-free purchase and pickup. Went to the store to buy some Airpods that are on sale. They are behind a locked cabinet. I found a lady at the tech register and asked if I could purchase them. However she did not have a key. Apparently its a different key from the other cabinets. She proceeded to call the manager on the walkie talkie. He spews some gibberish pretending not to know what she needs. Then doesn't answer her calls anymore. Mind you, this is on July 4th evening and the store was pretty empty. After about 30 minutes of waiting another lady finally comes back, I am assuming from lunch and proceeds to go to the back room and grab a key and help me. I don't understand why people even bother going to Walmart anymore. The same airpods were on sale at Amazon. I just thought I'd to buy locally rather than go on Amazon but I now know why I avoid Walmart. This also happened to me at the Rosemead location. I wanted to buy a car battery that is locked behind cabinets. It takes 30 minutes to flag someone down to either get a key or ask another employee if they have a key. This is the only Walmart I've ever been to over the years that continually is pleasing. Products are well stocked. The prices are accurate. The employees are friendly & there's plenty of room to shop without being cramped like sardines. The only thing I wish this store had was fresh meat like chicken and a bigger produce variety. The red headed chola, Nicole in the Holiday shop is so rude. We just saw her. A co-worker had to get her to notice we were standing next to her for help so long and she says, "Hold up" so she could go back to texting. The she asked what we wanted and we said resented a tree. Bought some stuff one day and the machine card reader didn't charge my debit card. Guess their card machines were having issues that day or something. But two weeks later they charged me twice! There were really not enough registers open for the big Christmas crowd trying to check out. I would think that during the holiday season they would have hired more help. I always buy what I needed here in this location at Walmart, Monrovia. All crew are so nice. Fast service. I also do curb pickup. Once you let them know that you have parked, it will not take long for them to come with your online order. Their prices are so reasonable and their sale prices are low that you will end up buying more than what you needed (Trust me on this ! Hahaha !) Their place is clean and they have long store hours. Trust me, I don't want to shop here. But searching the web, sometimes only Walmart has certain items that I need in stock. Not Target. Not Autozone or Pep Boys, not Home Depot or even Amazon ... just Walmart. I'd say from the past year, 99% of the price tags are wrong. Or they're missing tags altogether. Where there are signs for you to scan the barcode, there's actually no scanner. I was told they don't use price scanners anymore but you can use the Walmart app to scan it. So they have people to take down the scanners but not the signs right above it. Their app is no better. Often times won't even show a price, or it shows item is not available while I'm holding it in my hand. Their inventory is inaccurate. The shelves are chaotic. I've learned to not ask for assistance from anyone. Don't depend on their price tags, as the app is somewhat better, but just sometimes. And most importantly, erase all expectations of getting everything on the shopping list and paying the correct prices. It's amazing how they're a multi-billion dollar company when their stores are run so poorly. read more

The Walmart itself is 3/5 starts - it's actually pretty bad lol. I don't think it's technically a super center, which would explain the lackluster supply of food it offers. While the food section technically covers all the regular sections, the items available are sparse. For example, if you need to buy meat, your only option is frozen, higher fat logs of meat vs. fresh. If you want produce, you can choose from some pre-bagged stuff that never looks very fresh and only the staple stuff, like onions, potatoes, and bananas. What's confusing about this is that the size of the store is the normal super center size, it's just the food section only takes up about 1/4 of the retail space instead of the usual 1/2 or more. It would be nice if they would shut this one down temporarily and reorder things around inside to make it into a real super center. The only reason I wanted to write this review is for the most amazing door greeter, Marvella! You'll know if you've encountered her when you hear her cheery voice without even noting the unique name on her nametag. I haven't seen her there recently, but she's usually working on the weekends when I visit. I hope she's still employed there because she truly is so great at her job. I'm from the Midwest ~20 minutes from the Walmart capital of the USA, so I've been to my fair share of Walmart locations in my day. My hometown in the Midwest of ~60K people has 3 super centers and 3 Walmart Marketplaces. I grew up in a Walmart infested area lol. I've truly never encountered a better Walmart door greeter than Marvella! She doesn't just waive and say hello, but uniquely greets every customer. She's always smiling and is so kind and polite. I was shopping at Walmart of Duarte with my mom and my 17-month-old son on March 19. Like all toddlers, he was moving some items in the aisle, and I was putting them back. A store associate, Veronica, approached me, took an item from my hand, then gave my son a harsh look and tried to take an item from him. He got scared and hid behind me. I asked her why she did that, but she didn't respond. I requested a manager, and after 10 minutes, another associate arrived, pretending to be one. When I explained the situation, he rudely suggested something might be wrong with my child. Frustrated, I asked for a higher manager, and over the walkie-talkie, he said, "We have a Karen situation." Another associate, Wendy, then arrived and was even more dismissive. Eventually, I spoke with the manager of the cashier area, who told me to contact customer service. This location has mixed reviews. My daughter and I were glad to have a pleasant experience with this location. Because there were more negative reviews that I've read, we almost did not try to check this place out---good thing we still decided to try this branch. This place is huge and there were lots of stocks of items. Customer service was friendly and efficient, the only downside is that they don't accept applepay. You have to bring your physical card. Good thing, my daughter brought her card since I normally use applepay for purchasing items. read more

Compared to my experience with the Rosemead Superstore, I was cautiously optimistic about picking up my purchase of a COVID-19 test kit at Walmart. I was pleasantly surprised about being able to reserve an one time slot to pick up my purchase, and found it totally worth making the drive to this location. Did I mention they even have a McDonalds restaurant connect to the store? For a parent, this must be so convenient to shop and dine with your youngster and saving time multi-tasking. Out of the other Walmarts in San Gabriel Valley area, this would be my favorite in terms of customer service and crowds. My first preference is to place an online order pick up. They are usually pretty quick with bringing out the order within 5 minutes of arriving. If I need to shop around, the self checkout line is usually pretty fast since they have an associate manning the self checkout line and machines. The cleanliness of the store is overall okay. Bathrooms are decent in the morning, but by afternoons, go use at your own risk. The area that I feel they would need to improve is their return section. The process seems to take a bit long and it seems they only have one associate working there no matter how long the line gets. read more

This Walmart is terrible. I've seen them mistreat minorities at check out, often. It is a very racist establishment, today is when I finally decided I will no longer be doing my shopping here. An old white lady register refused to help out an older Hispanic fellow buying his good at the register. They harassed him with weird questions, and it only got worse when an older white lady probably a manager came along and refused service to the patron. I wish I would have gotten the name of the white lady employees, I would love to have called corporate on them and filed an official complaint on behalf of the customer. This is not ok. Went to exchange propane tanks, paid and waited outside for over half an hour. The person next to us waited over an hour for someone to come. Multiple workers passed by ignoring us. Went in and asked multiple people. The first person told us "Can't you see we're busy?" Then continued on with their work. Horrible attitude and poor communication amongst employees.
