So I was at Walmart n used the self service check out. I usually don't use them,but today I did.. well I had a gift card from fletch . The guy said I couldn't use it at self checkout so he printed out my receipt to take to a regular cashier. I explained I was deaf but she didn't remove her mask for me to read her lips to understand what she was saying. I told her I had a gift card of $25.00 still she refused to remove the mask so the manger or leader named Kristina ( with a K) came n I explained that I had a gift card n couldn't use it at the selfserver she told me I had to put it on the walmart store app to use it. I was like since when do I need to do that?? I've used these ecards all the time n would scan it off my phone.. she said they started doing this months ago.. well she " helped " me put the scan number n pin number on the app.. I kept telling her I don't want to use my walmart card to pay the remaining balance that I wanted to use my bank card she kept saying something I didn't understand her.. both these women don't understand when someone tells them they are fkn deaf.. she used my walmart card to pay n I got so mad at her she didn't even help me correct it so I was like " what's your name?" OK got it went to the customer service and right away the girl there helped me correct the situation.. I didn't get her name,but thank you for helping me.. you should be the manager not Kristina.. it was that simple too.. this walmart really sucks.. This event happened when we needed Walmart the most. My standing Altadena home was not livable. Surrounding homes were burned to the ground. We went to Walmart and purchased an Air Mattress BR Sensa Qn $126.00 for my daughter to sleep on. We never opened the item and attempted to return it. The Request to return was refused due to "Store Policy" . Both the Store Manager and Corporate Manager refused a return, any credit and dismissed the stress and need for help. Walmart Corporate 800-925-6278 January 21, spoke to Tania and received no empathy or resolution. I cannot tell you how disappointed and angry I am with Walmart. I shop them 3-4 times weekly. $126 is a small amount of money, however during the times when all should rally around those in need. Walmart was no where to be found for us. Training and policy changes need addressing. The package has no markings that state it cannot be returned or refunded. This is horrible customer service and Walmart is not a a store where I will be shopping in the future. I ordered three items on line for delivery to my home. The next day, two items appeared on my doorstep. No ringing of the doorbell, just left out there. Also, no bag either. I contacted customer service via email. They promised to get back to me. Nothing for a few days, so I tried again. It's now been over a week and I'm going to write off the last item as a loss. Just want to say Skad in Electronic Dept. Gave us a amaing and above and beyond customer service. We came in looking for a 75" screen tv. Skad made sure we walked out excited and happy with our purchase.. she took it upon herself to locate the last LG 75" inch tv when item wasnt available on sales floor went to the back room and located the last item. With no help from anyone else she was able to lift tv into a cart and deliver it to us. The level of incompetence of the staff here is mind blowing. After over an hour of waiting as multiple staff attempted a basic service they claim to provide- printing hunting tags- they were unable to do so. They weren't even capable of voiding the transaction, so now my husband can't get another tag anywhere else. They just shrug and say sorry, it's not working. Same thing happened when I tried to get a fishing license once. Never again. Even for basic things like asking the price of an unlabeled item- a young white male staff didn't even ATTEMPT to assist me and told me to look it up myself on the app. There wasn't a tag to scan on the item!! No one could tell us the price. It was absurd. Do not waste your time asking any employee for anything. It just leads to frustration. read more

Called and asked for Sporting Goods department. Operator says she can probably help. I if they sold ammunition. Operator put me on hold to check. After about 3 minutes of holding, operator comes back and says yes we do. Great. I drive the 20 minutes to the store. Get to store only to find out they DO NOT sell any ammunition at all. Walked out to my car and tried to call operator back, no answer. Tried to call again, no answer. Tried to get connected to pharmacy, deli, bakery, HR, online ordering department. Nobody answered. Walked in with my phone on speaker and still ringing, found a manager. Told her the situation and she could care less. Let her listen to the endless ringing on my phone and said she'll check into it. During this time of covid I suggest you find a different store where they will train their staff on the importance of disinfecting/cleaning and provide sufficient staff to keep their clients safe. I was at the self check out and the person working there was not wiping (disinfecting) the registers.. Never stepping foot into the Walmart in Duarte, CA again - and probably not any other location. Every single item in the beauty section is locked behind a cabinet. It's insulting and discriminating as this is a predominantly Black & Brown neighborhood. The majority of us aren't stealing! Plus they don't have a button to call someone to open up. You have to rely on the cashier in the same area. When the cashier is checking customers it creates a very caustic scene with ppl waiting to be serviced. It's one of the few Walmarts left in the area. My grandfather who lives all the way in Eagle Rock has to come here. You'd think a Walmart serving such a wide radius of customers would have much more than a standard one. Nah. It's hard to hate on a WalMart... Many may try to "educate" me about the plight of their workers, the small-business destroying distribution model of stores, or the supply chain nightmares and bullying accounts payable practices of the MegaCorporation. One might argue that those workers are free to seek employment anywhere based on their marketable skills, that economies of scale and supply and demand drive consumer behaviors, and if you wanna play with the big kids, you might need to go 90 days with a major customer to get your payday. But this ain't the place for that debate, and besides... Ain't nobody got time for that! For most in the Duarte and surrounding areas, price is king. This sadly means that the Duarte WalMart--in addition to all of its corporate misgivings-- is a churning cesspool of miscreant idiocy, parking lot garbage, panhandlers, neighborhood tough-guys, and a large, unruly, zombie-like clientele whose respective family trees probably don't fork very much--- just sort of weave back into the other branches like one of those novelty braided ficus trees. I try to avoid this location except for the occasional stop to see if there are any red tag deals to support my eBay business. The McDonalds in store is the perfect companion feedery to this hell hole-- trash food for a trash store, whose employees think they're providing customer service with a perfunctory nod or pointing towards another employee who "maybe works in that department... I dunno, bra." Well, "bra", thanks but no thanks. You're on your own at this store. The good news: it's one of the most entertaining people-watching venues in North America. Only Disneyland has a wider array of Homo sapiens, in all their paint, and pomp, and plumage for your enjoyment and self-esteem. Drive the extra six miles to Glendora, or hit the Walmart on Azusa. However, if you're looking to stretch your entertainment dollar, drop in. Had about $70 worth of stuff just leggings and workout tops I wanted in my cart but walked out after it felt like staff at the self check out felt surrounded me. Like damn, give me some room to breathe and check out. I get they are told to watch customers probably more so black ones... you know how racist a lot of places can be... especially WM. Noted there was another black woman with her son there they were watching as well. Anyways had felt weird from the get go when I went to the athletic section and some chick immediately came over and stood way too close complete lack of social distancing, and then a couple more at different times came and looked even though they didn't look like the athletic legging wearing type and finally a visible store employee who came to fold shorts. Just weird feeling all together. Whatever, dropped the stuff back in the cart and went to another store instead got what I needed for less. All good. Advice? Don't have your check out employees stand so damn close to your customers. And tell your security to be more discreet I mean damn, can a person of color shop without being immediately targeted? This is a very good walmart- it's almost always other customers making the scene and trash the place. Parking entrance near the signal light can be hectic when exiting. The employees are mostly nice and attentive and they don't have the look of "omg wt eff, again?" on line pickup and return process was okay. it really depends on the number of people in line but on the average returns took about 30min to an hour, pick up was usually 15-20 min. Just got home from shopping at this location in the midst of "global pandemic." I was nervous shopping here or any other big store in fact but when I got the things I needed (most of them) I was really surprised to see how completely calm and organized the store seemed. I've shopped at this location for years and it's always a stressful busy location especially on the weekends where it's so difficult to walk or go down and aisle because it's so busy! Today was busy but I was able to move around and get in and out. Not only that but I had my mother with me who uses a cane because it's hard for her to walk usually it's difficult for her to move around and people are so rude but today was different and she was able to get around. The reason for the review especially today was I wanted to thank everyone who is working there during this trying time. You all made the lines move quickly and the vibes were not as tense and overwhelming. I know working in retail is difficult and things aren't always appreciated but I appreciate you all. Store has an excellent greeter at the front of the store. I parked near garden door and found out it was not open. Store was clean- needed some items that required an associate with a key and an associate was readily available explained 'lock box' process but I got to take my item with me. Was going to check out in garden area but no cashier(after 10:00am) so they had 3 cashiers working - I went to self check out. My only complaint is that some low life pried my gas door open unscrewed gas cap in an attempt to siphon my gas. I thought there was security in the parking lot and perhaps what happened to me would have been prevented. I will return to the store I will just chose a more densely used area to park in. read more

I ordered 5 bicycles, helmets and locks at Walmart Online (15 items) for a children's Christmas charity on December 1,2023, Order number 2000115-21550033, in the amount of $1068.32. They sent the order to the Duarte, CA store for fulfillment. The order was supposed to be delivered on December 5, but was not. I called the store and they said the order would be delivered on December 6. Nothing showed up on Dec. 6. I called the store again and they said they couldn't deliver the bicycles, because none of their drivers had enough space on their trucks. They said I had to call WalMart online service for a refund. I called for a refund for the 15 items, and they initiated a refund and told me it is being processed. I immediately received the refund email for 1 lock and 1 helmet. The refund was for a different order that I had already received, not the order in question. Then they told me they can't cancel the order in question, because it has a delivery date of December 8, even though the store told me they can't deliver the items. So at that point the order couldn't be delivered and couldn't be cancelled. I then asked to speak with a supervisor. The original representative came back to me and said a refund was processed on December 3 in the amount of $1068.32. This made no sense since the Duarte store was still trying to deliver the order on December 6 (but could not). Furthermore, I received no notification that a refund had been issued. So I asked to speak with a supervisor again. A supervisor came on the line and told me a refund in the amount of $1055.43 was initiated 2 hours ago and was being issued in 24-48 hours. At that point I had no text or email confirming the refund, nor any explanation why the amount was different from my order amount. I should have ordered from Amazon, which I will do now. read more

This Five Stars is for the amazing service and hospitality for Christina.I had to get a lot of bulky items for an orientation for my company was having for its employees.I was definitely struggling with putting everything in my basket, chairs , water , sodas snacks etc. I also needed to get two 6 ft tables .As I was struggling Nobody in the store offered to help.They just looked at me and went about their business.Rude I went to check out and my cashier Christina was amazing.She was very accommodating and assisted with me getting my one cart into carts and assisting with pushing the other cart outside to my car.She also offered to put them items in my car.I declined as I did not want to keep her too long and did not have any cash to tip her. When certain consumers think of this store they're thinking,ghetto fabulous or poor quality products but there is plenty of decent proven brands that are sold here.I just came in to purchase batteries for my Mag-Lites and came out with a superior product in my opinion.Sure the brand that I once owned was great and reliable but the gentleman working at the sporting goods section ended up schooling this old dog.Great customer service and knowledgeable not to mention excited to talk shop about camping and anything related to emergency equipment and the importance of survival gear.Now I'm not going to plug the product I purchased but I can tell you that it works better than one I previously owned.Maybe not all the products are of good quality but if you look around you might be surprised what you could find here.The sporting goods section gets a four star rating but unfortunately the rest of his team, gets a one star for their unhelpful and unfriendly attitudes.And that's my take on Wallyworld,Peace read more

Horrible experience, and I have honestly never written a review for a store before. I picked out a bottle of whiskey and was told I needed to ask the cashier for it when I was ready to check out. I go to check out and there are only two checkout lines open, each on complete opposite sides, on a busy Friday night. I wait in a long line, then ask the cashier for the bottle of whiskey that I wanted to purchase. Then she tells me that she can't sell it to me because SHE wasn't 21. I was like, okay, I can wait for someone older to come over and check out the alcohol for me. No, she says. No one can come over to my ring me up for my purchase. So what am I to do? She says I have to go to the only other line in the store and wait in an extremely long line again. There were multiple other older Walmart employees right next to me. The most frustrating part of my experience is that there was no customer service skills. No empathy. No suggestions to mitigate the situation. I have never been so frustrated before. It took over an hour to get anyone to help me with a propane tank exchange. These lazy employees deserve less than minimum wage. The 3 employees I spoke to, each just passed my inquiry to someone else. Worst store and employees EVER! The level of incompetence is amazing. Two employees told me they were out of propane. We have no one to rely upon to help us! I ordered certain items that were clearly available when I selected them! After my order was paid for, I get info that some items were replaced w comprable items. There was no option to cancel the items. Only to start a return AFTER delivery! So, now I am receiving "replaced" items that will not work & which were truly needed! And I am told the only way to return said items is by WALKING INTO YOUR STORE! Don't you think I would have walked into your store in the first place if I were able to??? So, I paid a delivery fee, store fee, expedited fee to get the (incorrect) items delivered quickly!!! And a tip! As I see it, there are two choices: 1-Please kindly refund all of my fees, the charges for the incorrect items & come get them! Stay away! I ordered a small item from the Duarte store and requested delivery. On the delivery day, I received half a dozen messages with the delivery time, each one pushed back an additional hour. I finally received a message saying the item had been delivered and a photo of it at my front door was attached. There was no photo, and nothing was at my front door. They lied. After contacting customer service, I was told the item was lost. Next time we talked, the item wasn't lost, it was unavailable. They lied again. They said they'd process a refund. Nothing showed up in my account. They then said they'd process it in 10 days--for an amount that was half of what I paid! They can't even get the amount correct (funny how they charge your account within minutes of placing the order, but they need 10 days to refund the amount). Never again, Walmart. read more

While customer service should endeavor to remain gracious regardless of the customer's demeanor, as a customer I do not go out of my way to speak with any sort of attitude. I asked 2 boneheads about a product and if they could help me find it. 1st human says his "device is frozen" so there's nothing he can do. 2nd human says "I need the barcode in order to check the system if they have it." BUT IF WE HAVE THE BARCODE WE MUST BE CLEARLY HOLDING THE PRODUCT! How does that make any sense?? I asked if he can type it in, or manually look with our eyes and he said nah and left.. I don't get it. I see these younger workers meandering the back alleys avoiding eye contact just to collect a paycheck. And I get it, the job sucks, it doesn't pay well, and it might be some bigger scheme to get us to all shop online and have these zombies with AirPods in their ears collect our orders so we can just pick it up and not enter the store eventually to cut down on theft. I went in about 8:05 pm to return some items. I'm standing in the return area when this woman yells at me, "Returns closed at 8:00pm!" She then turned away from as I was attempting to talk to her. She wouldn't respond at all. She just dismissed me like I was trash. I've been shopping here for years and have never been treated so rudely. If the store is opened, you should be able to return something. If not, at least put people in the area who are considerate and customer focused.
