Of all of the Walmart locations, this is the store that never has anything in stock?! This is quite confusing since this location, I assume has the highest sales on island. Being next to Ala Moana I see lots of tourists, but there is nothing on the shelves! And they keep moving the isles around so I can never fricken find anything. Most people I know will tell you that I am not very patient. It's frustrating to go in thinking I'm only gonna run in for one thing, can't find the thing, and then find out the thing is not there! It could be one of two things or a combination of things. One being not enough stock people? I see people, or employees rather, walking around, in groups, but can't seem to figure out what they are doing in terms of work. They move in groups and talk and laugh. Maybe you need to hire more staff? Or and here's an idea take inventory and if need be do a store to store transfer! Duh! Take the time to go to another location for sanity sake. read more

I went to Walmart as a secondary choice for purchasing a couple bicycles. I should have listened to the representative from the bike store down the street because the clerks at Walmart know little to nothing about bicycles nor return procedures. Walmart's policy on purchasing a bicycle is to charge the customer $15 for a bicycle registration license, in addition to the cost of the bike, which is payable to the city of Honolulu. Walmart's bikes are cheap and put together by the same people who assemble furniture, TVs, and bbq pits... not the work of a fine-tuned specialist. The pedal of my bike fell off and the chain was making noise the first day that I bought it. When we attempted to return the bike's, without having even owned them for an entire week, the representative told us that they would refund the bikes but not the licenses. Walmart's "policy" for refunds states that they will refund or exchange items with a valid receipt, WHICH WE HAD BOTH THE RECEIPT AND THE REGISTRATION. The clerk told us that they would not refund the money for the registration because 5 days had lapsed (which had not been stated or written on the return policy) and that money had already been paid to the city and we needed to take the registration that we received in the mail and get a refund from the city. The thing about bicycles is that once a bicycle has been registered, the registration stays with the bike for the duration of its ownership and gets transferred, when sold to another owner. So why would anyone who is returning a defective bike, not get refunded for the registration as well? Should the owner have to pay for a registration for a bike which no longer belongs to them and will be transferred to the new owner? NO! Long story short, don't buy bikes from Walmart. read more

Today this afternoon me and my friend was looking for elastic headband or a black beanie to make a diy Mickey Mouse hat/ear for my son. I don't know what really happened just saying what he told me but He came to 3 Filipino woman to get help but they were speaking in their own language and giving him looks. They told a manager that he's trying to rob the store because of what he was looking for. A manager told him to leave before an under cover cop comes. This is a real violation to a customer that took his time to help me find something for my son and he got judgmental looks towards him. He felt very embarrassed and left. 1/29/19 came in 200pm taking picture for passport. the worker told me it be ready in half hour but she said i can come later then that. i came back 1130pm no one can find my passport picture. wtf wrong with that. wasting my time to come in for taking the picture but no one can find it after. even the manager help to look for it. irresponsible employee and no communication. the manager try to apologize but what that apologize going to do for me. i still dont have my passport picture to go get my passport the next day. its really really sad when walmart employees dont give a shit about there customers items. read more

This is where I go to buy stuff like shampoo, toothpaste, and other personal items unless they have something on sale at Longs, etc. I especially hate coming here on the weekends. The place is a zoo...people everywhere and going in every which direction. It's hard enough just to walk through this place carrying a shopping basket. Pushing a cart through the store...fuhgeddaboudit! I feel like I'm in a live version of a video game or something...dodging carts and weaving in and out of the aisles. As anti-big-box as I am, I'm not above stopping by Wal-mart for something every one in a while, because let's face it...they have everything, & everything is CHEAP!! I've been to this Walmart more times than i can count. It's in a convenient place, so that's good. But it can get incredibly crowded! Don't go during peak hours such as after work, because it's so hard to move around in there. In addition to the amount of people, their isles are very crowded as well. Carts are left in random places so it makes it difficult to move around with ease. Basically, when it's crowded, I'm not a fan of this place. But if I go when it's not too busy, then it's awesome! I always try to go to the express lane if you have less than a certain amount of items. read more

I am a Walmart junkie...but more specifically a junkie of the Walmart on Ke'eaumoku. Having frequented many other Walmarts in the bay, I must say that the Ke'eaumoku Walmart on O'ahu is the best one I've been to. The workers here are much more friendly and available. I can't tell you how many times I had to walk up and down aisles at other Walmarts looking for someone...anyone who could point me in the right direction. Anyway, as I was walking around Walmart today, I noted that this Walmart has way more products, is stocked more neatly, and is cleaner than the ones that I'm used to in the bay. Plus...how could I not hold this Walmart close to my heart when my friends and I used to come here in the wee hours of the morning to horse-play around in the games section. I really hate coming to this Walmart The parking stalls are marked in a weird slant And its always so busy!!!! Because there isn't a Target on this island, I had to shop at Walmart. The quality of Walmart's signature products have been nothing but problems. I've had to return multiple defective items including a halogen light, a shoe rack, hangers and a paper shredder! Arrrgghhh...soo annoying! And some of the employees are the LAZIEST people ever. HOLY COW, I did not know employees could be soooo ridiculously lazy!!! I had gone to Walmart two days prior and saw that they had the printer ink cartridge I needed. However, the bargain shopper that I am, I thought I'd look elsewhere to make sure I was getting the best price. So anyways, I return to Walmart to make my ink cartridge purchase but when I went to the ink cartridge section, there weren't anymore on the rack. So I proceed to ask Employee A if they had any in stock in the back room. Employee A says she isn't responsible for the ink cartridge department and refers me to Employee B. I ask Employee B if they have any in the back room. Employee B says they never carried that particular ink cartridge. I then told him, yes Walmart does carry it b/c I saw it two days prior. I then asked him if he could check the back, and he said he already did. WTF! How did he already check the back, if he didn't even leave my sight or know which ink cartridge I wanted prior to talking to me. OMG, that was my first taste of the chill lifestyle in Hawaii. I should have taken down his name...does Walmart know their employees are losing sales b/c of their LAZY employees??? Maybe Walmart employees are unmotivated and lazy as a result of Walmart treating them poorly...who knows?! Always so busy here! Huge store you could spend a long time looking at everything. Best to go here when people are sleeping, it is a 24|7 store which helps with the tourist people. In saying that you do get all the cray cray people that come out so have an open mind. read more

this store is a conundrum, I have had good experiences and bad. The one major thing that sticks in my mind is that someone (an employee I imagine) put a walmart sticker on my back bumper. Fighting for parking, dealing with tourist mindlessly standing in your way, walmart staff never replenishing any items on floor, or just the plain chaotic craziness of people is just one of the many reasons I dislike this place! I don't really understand what is going in this Walmart, the workers seem to know as much about the store as the shoppers. When you're in need of help, you're lucky if you find someone and even luckier if they know what you're talking about and can help you get it. Also there is a distinct possibility of them not even having that product you need in stock. If I could avoid this Walmart, I would, but I sadly can't because it's convenience is very evident. If you need to call the store, I wouldn't bother as someone may answer, try to connect you, you'll be on hold for what seems like hours, and then they'll drop your call. What can I say about Wal-Mart other than its awesome? There's such a variety of different items and random products that its hard not to like it. Parking can be a pain especially on the weekends when everyone and their mothers are there, but its well worth it. My friends go there sometimes when we don't have anything to do and play with the rubber balls in the toy section. We've even bought their Nurf guns and had all out wars at our houses. I also like their candy selection: Haribo Gummi Bears, Swedish Fish, and Trolli candies. read more

Here I sit, after 22 minutes and three calls attempting to ask one simple question of the WalMart electronics department. The customer service staff is clueless and the "manager" who eventually came on the line was just as ineffective as she simply left me on hold. I had to call back again and went through the whole ordeal. What is so difficult about the idea of a customer calling for information? If you aren't prepared to assist inquiries, then don't publish a telephone number. BTW...it has become over 25 minutes since the initial call. Incompetence. read more

This place "rocks" for ordinary folks living in Honolulu proper. From the moment you enter the property it easy to navigate and locate parking. This is so as there are entrances/egresses on all four sides of this one block facility. I often access the upper levels of the four level parking structure directly from the Makaloa Street entrance. By parking in the SE corner of the 3rd or 4th floors you are only steps away from an array elevators with ample space to accommodate three shopping carts with ease. adjacent to the elevators are escalators that are enhanced with the ability to move shopping carts up from the ground floor at the street level to your choice of level. The Sam's Club entrance is accessible from the 3rd floor. I noticed that the the majority of the shopping carts for both Sam's Club and Walmart are both fairly new and in good condition. This Walmart is also serviced by two bus lines and has it's own sheltered bus stop (Keeaumoku Street side) also just steps from one of its' two entrances. Bus line No.5 out of the west side of Manoa Valley stops at Walmart on average every 50 min as it makes its circuit from Manoa to Ala Moana Center and back. Bus line No. 6 originating from west Manoa Valley Woodlawn Ave and the University Area *Attention UH students* also stops at the Keeaumoku Street stop almost three times an hour during peak hours. In addition there's a cab stand next to the entrance nearest to Sheridan Street, were there never seems to be a shortage of cabs in waiting during day and evening hours. There is a direct line free of charge to the TheCab on the exterior wall of the facility adjacent to the cab stand. I've counted three ATM's in and around this Walmart all operated by American Savings Bank (of which there is a full service branch in side). One is along the exterior wall west of the entrance closest to Keeaumoku Street. Another is alongside the Customer Service counter at the very front of the store opposite of the checkout/cashiers. The other is situated in the ASB branch also at the front of the store opposite the checkout. I found that the interior of this store to be well lit with aisles that are wide and easy to manuver through. The restrooms appeared to be in working order and without an unsightly accumulation of water/fluid on the floor or trash containers filled beyond capacity.Checking out seems to be easy enough with 26 check out stands (never all in operation simultaneously). The tip here is to utilize the checkstands at the east end of the line during peak business hours. There is also a pharmacy and a film processing center(both accessible online) available. Additionally (and not so much to my surprise) there is even a souvenir shop that sells most of the wares that can be found in this area that is nearby Waikiki. Everything from beach towels to tikis, postcards to hula skirts, or sea shells to shot glasses can be found here at a prices comparable to sometimes even better than the Flea Market @ Aloha Stadium or anywhere else. Customer service here is definitely a "roll of the dice". I've experienced over the years a full spectrum of customer service quality. From zombie like greeters at the front door with "lack luster" enthusiasm to ones that are as proficient as a concierge at a five star hotel. When asked about certain items some worker will point towards a particular department and/or merely say it over in that department. Other workers will go the full course and literally take ahold of the shopping cart and lead you over to the item, all the time explaining options of quality and price and leave you with the phrase "is there anything else I can do for you today" or "Thank You for shopping at Walmart". So I guess the tip here is not to ask where something is but rather "could you show me (take me to) where something is". This seems to work every time, but if all else fails ask to seem a manager. You know when this Walmart came to town years ago, there was no shortage of prophets of doom, NIMBYs or other forms of opposition. But all in all it seems the community in large has accepted and and embraced it presence. I've heard rumors about how Walmart mistreats its' workers but haven't noticed an unusually high turnover of employees at this facility or stories in the local press which in my opinion would substantiate these rumors. My inquiries has often lead me to a common source. It seems that the bulk of this rhetoric comes from the trade unions that have for years have been trying to get Walmart workers to organize. With more than 6000 retail outlet nation wide that represents a win fall fortune in union due and political clout to organizations whose membership has been on the decline for decades now. After all isn't it the Ford Motor Company that employs a multitude of the UAW that is down on its' knees presently begging the federal government for a bail out, while WMT showed a 2.4% increase in Oct 08. There's less people usually but they are also restocking the store so it is extremely difficult to get around (no matter what time you go). They never have enough checkers to meet the demand of tourists and local customers. read more

Mililani location told me that this keeaumoku Walmart has 14 black urbini omnis in their warehouse. Went to this location and took us 5-10 minutes to find a sales associate on the floor. She was super lazy and we had to repeat our situation to her about 4-5 times because instead of calling in the morning, we wanted to make sure they put a black stroller on hold for us for sure. She tried to act as a higher authority when we asked for a manager to explain our situation since the lady was giving us a hard time. She complained about how it would take a couple days for the stroller to get transported to the location if we asked to put one on hold. So we asked for a manager AGAIN. Took her 5-10 minutes to find a manager and he told us that he could put a black stroller on hold for us since there are two shuttles. One that in the morning & one in the evening. So, he'll put one on hold for us to pick up the next morning. We left happy even though the woman (sales associate) gave us false information & have us attitude. I tried giving the location a call TWO times and both times, they keep hanging up on me. From experience, The sales associates seem to have a hard time doing their job right and portray themselves as lazy workers. And the ladies who answer the phone lines tend to end the phone call probably because they're too lazy to do their job which I don't understand what's SO HARD. Bad customer service. 3 stars because the manager, Sean helped to satisfy our needs. Haven't received a call about the stroller yet - but will be visiting the store later on today to hopefully purchase our stroller. read more

We finally stopped Aaron as he exited the stock area. Not only did he suggest an area, he walked with us and tried looking on his own in different locations. This Walmart location is definitely better than the Fort street location. The parking is much better as well although it can get a bit backed up. The store is a good size with a good inventory. I like how Walmart also offers groceries and pantry items at a better price than Safeway. The store is always quite busy but they have enough check stands open so that the wait isn't too bad. read more
