Always busy here at the Keeaumoku location. Security guards, welcome greeters and mostly smiles abound. Just outside the entrance to Walmart can be sketchy at times. Today the police and security presence was duly noted. Here to pick up birthday card packs for my Dad. Value packs are great. Side tracked to the craft sections and picked up a few patches. I couldn't resist it. Service was fast and friendly here. I didn't go to the self checkout lines as it was crowded. The assisted check out had no line! If you're hungry, you can order a plate lunch or burger to go at L&L Hawaiian BBQ.

Everyone has been to Walmart at some point of their lives. It's nothing special and often overlooked. This Walmart is near Ala Moana Center which is convenient for tourists and residents in town. The parking lot can be a mess and some stalls are wider than others. They did invest into charging stations with a 3 hour maximum time limit for customers only. Hopefully that will open up soon. This Walmart offers all your typical items but also a "grocery" section too which is nice for all those people shopping for groceries at Walmart. Their rotating holiday section is always popular and the Hawai'i section is great for those looking for gifts to take with them back home or to visit friends/family. The reason why I decided to review them is because I recently had to get Passport photos taken. It is required for the IDP I applied for and I didn't want to pay a lot at AAA. Last time I needed them, I did it at Walgreens but they are no longer here. Previous time before Walgreens was done in Chinatown but with crime rate up and all the homeless people there, I didn't want to risk it just for Passport photos. Parking in Chinatown around the spot for Passport photos is also an issue. I called Walmart to confirm they did it and they do in the electronics section of the store. It's in the back of the store for those not familiar. I stood in line at the register in electronics and the Walmart associate was helpful when it was my turn. He advised me to sit on the stool next to the register in front of a white backdrop. I did as instructed and he took two quick photos. He showed them to me and I approved. The associate told me to come back in 30 minutes and it'll be ready. I went to check out Sam's Club and came back in 20 minutes. His coworker recognized me from earlier and got my photos then took payment as the original associate was helping another customer. This was a quick and very positive experience! The photos were only $8 for two so that was very inexpensive. Good spot for Passport photos in a rush.

Quality/Quantity - This is where we usually do some of our gift shopping. But I ended up buying myself a new really cool dry fit Tommy Bahama style University of HI shirt! I'm sure my wife also got herself a few items. Anyways, back to gift shopping. The friends we are visiting in AU and NZ deserve much better gifts than from Walmart (or Costco); see other Yelp reviews. So we actually did not buy any gifts from here on this trip. Atmosphere - It's a Walmart, consistent. Not in a good or bad way. Open 7 days a week from 6am to 11pm. Service - Self service, so good. Price - Inexpensive, I do not even check prices with this brand. Owner Comment - Congrats on all your success since 1969, the world's largest company by revenue, $548+ billion. 12+ stores in HI, 50+ stores in Nevada and 309+ stores in California.

Every day of my trip, I have walked to foodland and had their poke. They have a wide variety of fresh, well seasoned fish. I also love how you can pick your portions and pay at that rate. You can even customize your own poke bowl with rice and your choice of fish! For me, I am a huge fan of their limu tako and fresh salmon poke! I always walk out with a quarter pound of each and it usually only costs 8-10 dollars, which is a great deal for the quality and freshness of their poke! My favorite has to be their fresh salmon poke though, since it is always so fresh, smooth, and has incredible seasoning. The seasoning is a nutty, shoyu seasoning with soy soaked onions and green onion garnish! Simple, but excellent. Another honorable mention would be there wafu ahi poke. It's a new item they have; it's seared ahi but with a smoky, steak-teriyaki flavor. It's something new and bold, but executed flawlessly! Along with their poke, they also have plenty of other great picnic snacks, like their hot lunch plates and spam musubis. You can walk away with a whole meal for your fam with just one stop! The workers are also incredibly friendly and patient. They always have a great sense of humor and are always happy to help! They even give small samples if you ask! They have your typical grocery items that you would find anywhere else, however what I think makes them extra special is all their ready-to-eat meals. They have some amazing hot meals for you to choose from, as well as family platters. However, they are very popular for their affordable poke which I think is stellar. Especially considering that you would probably pay 5x more at any restaurant in Waikiki. During my time in Oahu, we made multiple trips to this location and always made sure to get a pound of poke. We also got some of the Foodland chips, which paired great with their poke. Also, I highly recommend getting their Foodland card which can get you some discounts on your purchase.

And even after we moved, we would still drive out just to come here for the seafood. That's how special it was to us. The reason why he chose Tamashiro over other grocery stores was simple--it was quality and because of my Nanay (grandma). His mom purchased from here and made so many delicious dishes. He knew what to look for, and he trusted this place. For him, it wasn't just about buying food... it was about getting the best for his family. My dad isn't the type to say "I love you." He shows it. One of the biggest ways he showed love was through his cooking. Even after a long day on his feet cooking for others, he would come home and cook for us. That was his way of taking care of us. I loved coming here with him. It was a five-senses overload--the smell of fresh seafood, the sound of people talking story, the colors of fish on display. Back then when you were allowed to sample a grape or poke to make sure it was good before buying. But more than that, it was time with him.
