This Walmart location is located just right outside of the airport, making it a very easy and convenient visit after landing in Maui. After my husband and I arrived in Maui on Monday evening, we stopped by here to stock up on some staples during our vacation. Staples included gallon size bottle water, egg whites, whole wheat bread, shredded cheese, few snack items, fruits. I wished there were more variety of fruits at this Walmart (or just Walmart in general) to choose from. It was pretty disappointing that the water we bought ended up tasting like plastic :( but the other items were just fine and at a reasonable price. One thing that I do like about Walmarts in Hawaii is finding snacks that are unique to Hawaii. But sadly I was surprised that I did not find as many items as I had before at the Walmart on Oahu, from a previous visit. Anyways, the next day, we came back here to return the water because of the off taste. At the customer service desk, I was not given any problems on returning the bottled waters. Overall, a pretty average shopping experience, thus my 3 star rating. By the way, there is 1 Redbox kiosk machine located inside, by the front entrance and there is also free WiFi available for use (but was rather slow on this visit). read more

For whatever reason the redone parking lot has made this place a mad house! It's obvious that they have removed stalls for handicap parking but I don't think I've ever seen this many cars at Walmart. Leaving the parking lot is just as bad. It's almost impossible sometimes to make a left turn even from their second entrance (garden side) and even when you make a right turn you'll be waiting a while for traffic. Besides the parking lot I feel like most of their shelves are empty as well. I barely come to Walmart with all the new changes and Target being right across the road but some things only Walmart carries. Hopefully things change soon because I'm sure others can find what they need else where or online. read more

We were here on a 10 day trip and staying in Kanapali. We planned to make a stop here and at Costco to load up for our stay on the way there from the airport. Came in at the recommendation of a nice storekeeper at a small souvenir shop. I was actually very surprised that she mentioned some of the items at this Walmart were supplied by local manufacturers. Off I went in search of a particular souvenir shirt. I found it, but the size, even though xs, was a bit loose. I found another shirt that was xs (in petite), but in a different design and material. So, I asked an employee if they had the shirt I wanted in a petite size. Another employee, elderly lady manning the fitting room, got in the middle of my conversation with the other employee. I was taken aback, not only by her inserting herself in a conversation of which she was not a part, she was using the most obnoxious, condescending and challenging tone. She said they were not going to look in the back for what I was asking for because everything was on display, and that they had no control over inventory because the items were just shipped to them as is. I told her that I was not asking them to look at their storage. I understand the message. What I don't understand is that an employee expects a customer to know about their store procedures. I also don't understand how an employee will not know the difference between an informational gathering question, and a command/order question. And foremost, I don't understand why the use of that berating tone. After, I said that I was not asking for them to look in the back, I directed the rest of my attention to the other employee, who looked embarrassed. She, obviously, has seen this behavior before, from this same co-worker. I just hope that this woman has not been bullying this other poor lady. I have been wracking my brain why certain people behave this way. It is so very unbecoming. read more

On Sunday I Bought A Portable A/C Cause That Night It Was Hot. I Check The Online Price For That A/C The Cashier Honor That Price On Sunday. "She Said Ok" Then I Ask Her The Price On The Receipt Is The ONLINE Price That The Cashier Honor For Me Yesterday And When I Come Back Will They Honor The Same Price For Me. "She Said Yes" Went Back Cause My Husband Finish With Work. Got The Portable A/C. The Cashier That Was Helping Me Was Very Rude To Me An My Husband. It's a typical Walmart, it's big, crowded, probably under pay there workers and don't offer them benefits and sell what you need. Tip: don't buy the cheap 10 dollar umbrella, it's windy AF on most Maui beaches, ours broke after the first day of using it. read more

Other than Costco, Wally is another great place to stock up and buy all those trinkets and gear you forgot to bring on vacation. Mauis only Walmart located in Kahului behind the Harley Davidson Store and The Home Depot. They have almost everything you need from clothes to toiletries and food. its not like the Walmart stores on the mainland where they have the Super Walmart. they do sell a very limited supply of food. sometimes you can find cheap beer and wine here too. they have a pretty good selection of party supplies that you may need. you can also find a McDonalds located in the front of the store and an American Savings Bank. they have a tire service center located in the back of the store. sometimes you can find what you may need but sometimes they are out of it and out of stock for a while. customer service is OK. also if you find an ad in the paper from another store bring it in and show it to the cashier to receive that price if its a cheaper one. they do honor that price from another store if it's cheaper. that's the one thing I like about Walmart its the one stop shop. read more

Costco has the boxed variety Mauna Loa canned nuts for cheaper, but the Walmart ziploc packaging fits easier in luggage back to the mainland. read more

Walmart is boss, especially on Maui! Standard Walmart with lower than surrounding area prices, a good selection and plenty of people of walmart present. We came in late in week and were told the place is generally pretty picked over by that point. We found this to be the case, but were indeed able to find the necessary condiments and beer we were looking for. Word to the wise, bring your own bags as they don't allow plastic bags here (for good reason). The reusable bags run $1 a shot and we never get out without 6-7 of them. Supporting local jobs if said reusable bags are in fact made on the island! Love it or hate it, Walmart delivers! read more

I had a terrible experience with a supervisor named Ola. We were there at 8am to get cash from the Paypal. We followed the prompts. Apparently Ola didn't know how to do it since she stated she never had to do this before. The other employee had to show her where to start. We then showed her our phone with the code that says 'show to the cashier '. She couldn't help us. She was blaming the system and Paypal. I asked for a supervisor, she said she is the supervisor. We went to the front of the store and an Assistant manager Jose tried helping. Right after the bat, he said he can't help since he never did one himself. So we said we'll just leave and as we left, Ola kept on talking that it was PayPal was at fault and the system not her fault because she did it right. I had to tell her that I'm the customer here and whatever happened to customer service? That's ok, Target is much better! read more

Of course this is a Walmart. You have to consider how popular this place is and get lucky to park near the entrance. It can be a dangerous walk through the parking lot with everyone jockeying around to find the nearest parking spot. But, we made it in and the missus is on a quest for some specific aloha wear and some special pineapple souvenir. She must not have liked all the things you can find at Kmart. No worries, I'll just sit by the small McDonalds while she goes around in circles. Oh, I had the best taro pie and a cold iced latte coffee. Not much more I can remember than a disappointed look on her face. Ok it's time to go and find our car in the parking lot. For those that shop at Walmart, I'd say yes, continue doing that and you'll probably find what you need. This is a big store and it is geared toward all the tourists who arrive at the nearby OGG airport. They have a huge selection of men's and women's Hawaiian outfits. The only problem, they have put both men's and women's in the same area. As a result, what appeared to be a man's shirt was, in fact, the left side buttoning ladies model. The selection for Wahines is great with many styles and colors. The Mac Nuts section has been expanded to include so many more flavors than you would imagine. How about; Cookies and Cream and chocolate coconut, or dark chocolate with caramel and sea salt. It's tough to find plain roasted Macadamias here. They have all the expensive brands of suntan oil at the entrance and further in front and you have to search hard to find the Walmart brand in the lower shelf of the Pharmacy read more

Mosquitos everywhere! Shoppers beware! I found everything I needed from Walmart, which was basically souvenirs to bring back to Cali. The prices are so much cheaper than going to the ABC stores for souvenirs such as macadamia nuts, chocolates w/macadamia nuts and coffee. We came in the evening and had no problem. Iwalani and Kristin are such a breath of fresh air. I was having a stressful feeling about returning some things and I stopped in the front to unload my returns. Told Iwalani I'd be right back and when I got back, she had the returns already loaded in a sharping cart, took it to the Customer service where Kristin competently returned my items and made me feel great after returning the items. What can I say. Its Walmart. I will say that Walmart not only has ALL the necessities for a comfortable stay in Maui, but it has the cheapest of ALL the souvenirs. I tried ABC stores and many of the souvenirs shops all around Maui, and Walmart is the cheapest with the most selection. When compared to the mainland, Walmart groceries are a little bit more expensive. We bought 5 days worth of breakfast foods to use at our rental and it cost us close to $100. Other than that, this Walmart does save you money for your trip to Maui. It is also a few blocks from the airport, so it can be your first stop. We made the right choice for groceries and souvenirs. read more

Perfect location! Directly outside of the airport. About 30 minutes away from west maui. This Walmart is big and has basically everything that you can ask for out of a supermarket. They do have a good sized grocery section. They don't have very much meat but do have everything else. They also have a souvenir section. Lots of stuff to choose from. All decently priced. They also do have a McDonald's located inside the store. Outside there is a tourist stand with plenty of fliers of different things to do on the island. Every time we came to this Walmart they were extremely busy. One time it was actually pretty hard to get through each isle because they're was so many people. read more

Walmart- The electronics department has only two associates and bad service with the register department. when asked if I could get something out of the glass case. the woman replied that I have to get the card and bring it to the register, I did not need the card. I needed to look at the phones inside the case. I replied back and she ignored me and walked away going about her business restocking shelves. I also noticed a line of people that were not being assisted. blah humbug this place I coud not purchase a phone as the store did not make a sale as a courtesy to a customer. read more
