Better than nothing. I live on the Peninsula (San Mateo County) so this is the nearest Walmart retail store to me that does not involve crossing a bridge and paying a bridge toll. I am glad it is there because Walmart usually has low prices, but shopping at this store can be frustrating. For example, yesterday I tried to order an alarm clock on walmart.com for store pick-up at this store. The walmart.com system said this store was out of stock on the item, so I ordered it for pick up at another Walmart store. When I got to Walmart Mountain View, the item was there after all. I then had to go through a frustrating and unsuccessful process to try to cancel the order from walmart.com. Store can be crowded, with parking hassles and some needed items out of stock. 45 Minutes - My Most Recent Walmart Experience Disclaimer: I generally don't like Walmart at all. Especially this one. But I stopped by this location a while back in search of a camera case, and to pick up an extra deodorant or two...only because I couldn't find what I needed at Target. Anyway, it took me only about 20 minutes to find what I needed. However, in those 20 minutes I watched some lady spill a big liter of pink lemonade (it had splashed all over the floor, and was apparently the responsibility of one solitary employee, to clean it up. :( all over a rack of $3 DVD's. What was a container of lemonade doing on a DVD rack, you ask? I have no idea. It's Walmart - their organization has always been lacking.) Anyway, so the lemonade mess was happening...and a shift supervisor came out and closed two of the 20 or 25 checkout lanes because of the chaos. You'd think this wouldn't matter - 18 or so lanes were still open. But at the speed the cashiers were moving, people would maybe be able to leave by Christmas. Really. So, at this point, I've found my items, (a basic camera case, and two deodorants) and I choose the "Quick Checkout: 20 Items or Less". I spend another 25 minutes waiting in line. I'm not kidding. Now, I am usually a very patient person, and I wasn't in any particular hurry that night, anyway. But Walmart does something to you, I say! The screaming kids, and merchandise thrown everywhere, and general chaos...it crawls under your skin and proceeds to irritate you. Not to mention, the woman directly behind me was buying maybe five items, but decided suddenly, that she wanted to eat her package of Twizzlers while standing in line, so she literally just opens the package and starts eating them! I understand it's Walmart...not like it's Whole Foods (no Whole Foods shopper would dare) or anything, but still. A bit disconcerting. At this point, I actually think I might start having a panic attack. I make myself breathe slowly; but I can barely take it - all these screaming little kids, and these customers ahead of me that take literally two YEARS to buy a Red Bull and a carton of eggs, and the stale McDonald's smell mixed with sickeningly sweet candy and warm lemonade...and then finally, it was my turn. The cashier scanned my three items silently, and stretches out her hand for my total: $18. $18 for three items, you can't really beat it. Despite a relatively recent paint job (well within the last 3 years, I'd say) this Walmart is really not all that. My mom has CANCER and has been wearing a mask when she goes out to avoid getting sick from other people. Today she shopped at Walmart and several of their employees were completely unprofessional. One person said to her derisively "are you sleeping in that mask?!" And during checkout, the cashier came over and said "watch out for the credit card," implying that she had stolen the credit card. Worst Customer Service Counter you could ever imagine. I bought a Tmobile refill card and tried to load it on a prepaid phone. Wee having trouble loading and tried to ask help from a Walmart personnel sitting at the photo center. The guy (Chris) is sitting there and texting on his phone and see me standing in front of the counter. I ask him politely if he could help me. He said wait until he finishes up his texting. About 2 minutes waiting he is done and said signalled for me to come over. I told him politely my problem is and he said blatantly " I can not help you" even without me finishing what I'm trying to said. It's my daughter's 7th birthday today and she's with her dad this year so I went online and ordered her gift, I gave it plenty of time to get there in time but they cancelled my first order saying they always do that with your first order "it's for my safety, security reasons" so I purchased it again the next day after I found out and they freakin cancelled my order again!!! wtf! SO I ORDERED AGAIN FOR THE 3RD time over the phone with the lady and found out that now my order won't be on time, that's unacceptable! and not my fault so they agreed to give me rush shipping (overnight) and says it will for sure be there on the 12th so I get off the phone and check the order status and it says the 13th! and they gave me EXPEDITED SHIPPING NOT RUSH! (mind you my card has been charged over $250 3 times now and it takes 7-10 business days for each transaction to be returned but she's worth it! i just want it to get there on time) So I called back and they said there's nothing they can do about it now. By now i'm really upset not only do I not get to spend this special day with my baby her gift I sent won't even be there for her special day :( so I continued to look at the tracking info online and nothing's changed in 4 days it still says processing, hasn't even been shipped so I called back and have talked to 3 different people, my mother had to call for me the 4th time because I was bawling my eyes out I just wanted her day to be perfect and it's ruined! Walmart Walmart is one of the largest chain retailer that is also a wholesaler for itself. They have different locations throughout the whole world. Within all the locations, the one that I usually go to on Black Fridays is on 5469 south and redwood road, Taylorsville, Utah. Favorable to the traffic. The main entrance is facing the north, so does the parking lots. They have the produce department on the left side, right after you walk in. The bakery is on the North-East corner. After the bakery, comes the fresh food, seasonings, spices, breads, water juices and Spanish foods. My favorite Spanish food is the sweet condensed milk and the Nido milk. Their meat department which is on the far East corner of the building contains pork, beef (hamburgers, stakes, ground beef, etc.), chicken (wings, tight, breast etc.), sausage, hotdogs, bacons. In the middle East corner you will find the electronic department (TVs, computers, printers, speakers, games and others, chargers). On the far South-West corner, we have the sporting goods includes camping gear, fishing goods, and hunting goods. There is also the sports items such as workout items, basketball, soccer, baseball and more. Then near there, we also have the Auto center. You can get oil changes and tires and other maintains done on your vehicle while you are shopping. You can also purchase car cleaning and décor for your vehicle. To the far west side of the store you also have your home improvements such as paint and hardware and tools. I use a lot of tools and have purchased tools for fixing things around my home. Just more west there is what all kids love most with lots of action figures and fun toys and games to play. Just in front of that to the far north-west corner of Walmart there is all the outdoor cleaning tools, gardening tools, plants and outdoor furniture. There is a lot of other items from hair products to the pharmacy. I have giving a lot of info about what I can find at Walmart. Let's look more into Walmart back ground. Although Walmart is one of the largest retailer worldwide and you can almost find anything you are looking for, the service that they provide to their customer does not help their growth. I have personally had few bad experiences in the past that make me don't want to go there anymore to shop, expect for Black Fridays of course. I have bought a TV from them that went bad within a year. They won't return it simply because I lost my receipt. The cashiers are so slow like they are walking on eggs. Expect to stand in the line for at least 15 minutes. The employees are careless to the customers and do not provide the healthy service they should. Anytime you go there, it's like the store is employee-free. You barely can find anyone to help you find an item or when you have a question about a product. I don't blame the poor working employees. Rumors state that they have low paid rate plus their employees are treated bad as they expect more from them than they pay them. For all these reasons, I can only rate them 2 stars. According to ForeSee's e-retail satisfaction index: "Walmart has been the lowest-rated department or discount store in the nation every year between 2007 through 2012. Worse, it has been the lowest-rated supermarket every year since 2005. And the company's performance in e-commerce is not particularly impressive". read more

I think the problem at this Walmart is that it is poorly managed. I have visited about three or four other Walmarts, but this was my first time at this one in Mountain View. What a disaster. I have posted about only two or three Yelp reviews in my entire life, but this experience was so bad, I just had to share my feelings. I first visited the return counter for a price adjustment, and then I tried to do some shopping. The return experience was a joke, but I still decided to go look for my items to purchase. The store is very messy and the shelves are poorly stocked. I saw a pair of pajamas I liked so stopped to shop. There were several pair (about 15) but only two sizes were available: Large and 3X. I'm a large so I grabbed a pair. I went to look for batteries for my Fitbit. They had a display with spots for all kinds of button batteries and almost every spot was empty, so, of course, they did not have the ones I needed (I always buy these at Walmart, but no luck at this one). Then I went to look for a Dustbuster hand-held vacuum cleaner. I couldn't find it so I asked one of the workers. He sent us to the far corner of the store. We went there. No luck. Asked another worker. He sent us to the other corner of the store. No luck (at least I was getting steps on my Fitbit!). Asked a third worker. She was not sure but at least sent me in a general direction where we stumbled into the Dustbusters. The selection was terrible. There were so few on the shelf and they were scattered on the shelf so it was hard to figure out the prices. I went to the grocery section but none of the items I usually purchase at Walmart or Walmart.com were available. All of the workers I encountered acted as if they really had no interest in helping the customer (I believe this is a direct reflection of poor management). The store was poorly stocked (another reflection of poor management). By this time, I was pretty disgusted with the whole experience, so I put the pajamas back on the rack and left the store never to return to this particular Walmart. read more

I can't understand the reviews, how people hate or disgust from Mountain View Wal-Mart. First of all, you get for what you pay. - Parking is crowd, because the closest Wal-Mart after Mountain View Wal-Mart is Milpitas Wal-Mart. If want not busy place, change your direction go to Target. - Check out areas are busy all the time, because lots of customers. Customers will come with their kids; most likely they have nobody for taking care of their kids, so they have to bring their kids as well. - Employees are friendly and will help you to get what you want. It is not necessary that Employees have to know everything where are located in the Wal-Mart. Stop being selfish! The older cashiers need to work, because they don't have retirement, and therefore they need survive themself. I have seen some customers, who act stupid while giving hard time to employee. So, what?! if they work there, it doesn't mean that they have to be slave of you. Employees get minimum wage there and treated badly by the customers and crazy managers. - Shelves are messed and dirty always, because of crowd. Employees are not enough to clean areas each time, whenever gets messy. Most items are out of stock, products sell quickly, because of cheaper prices. - Over here, most people mention about employees that who has second language. You know what? Think about it, how hard is learning language for older people and they work for minimum salary for paying their rent and bills. -whoever complains about the employees go to somewhere that has better customer service. if you have problem with the immigrants, move away from Bay Area, or try learning how to be tolerant. BTW, I am neither employee in the Wal-Mart nor I have someone who works there. I am just customer there, who shops there with no complain. Try to be patient and nice with the employee, and then let me know, how your experience going to be?! I don't know what people are complaing about. Looks like you price high, they get angry, and price it low they get angry and call it cheap. Well for me, I'd prefer walmart over selection/price of items than many stores. I'm not a cheap shopper either for cheap stuff. I pretty much decide what to buy and check walmart local stores and other retail stores and finally walmart online and see if it's on walmart site. If it is, then I see if it is priced competitively. For most part it usualy is. If not I ask them to price match to their co-retailers such as target, sears etc., and they have no problems. Many times I purchased stuff at online walmart that you think they would never carry (if you're used to the store). Plus many expensive stuff I buy sometimes, maynot be at the stores. But I can always buy it at online walmart and ship it free to the stores and pick it up. You try to shop elsewhere and for the same item/same quality many other retailers would not price match walmart (they just exclude walmart from price matching). One of them is sports authority. I wanted to buy a BB gun and told them walmart offers it for X and you guys are 50 bucks more for a $140 item. They asked me to take a hike!!! so far my usual way is to find what good item I wanted to buy, and price check it many online /retail places and at walmart and then price match /ship ;-). If your a germophobe/clean freak and don't like some cheap yet moderately good stuff at the store, then you shouldn't be in walmart. You should be shopping in nordstrom, bloomingdales or macys. But then again, you can find many things in premiums retailers that are cheap at walmart online. You can't have the cake and eat it too. When a store becomes this popular like walmart, yes it can get crowded, yes it's difficult to clean every 1/2 hour (although they try), yes it can;t be all sparkling. Normal people would understand , when you get an item at a very good price that other retail stores sell! For e.g If someone is giving out free gas would anybody care to wait in like for a lot lot longer? Sometimes I really couldn't understand how they can sell some standard things in original package with such low price. The only thing the other retailers can tell me is "Oh, they;re different". And I think , "yeah, that's a nice intelligent answer" :-). Some say, oh they're buy in bulk . There are many other stores such as target do that too. Maybe they buy a lotttt! And regarding the store parking, I;m not sure what they're complaining. I have been to this store 100's of times and not a single time I was angry that I couldn't find parking. Yes the parking in front might be full at times, but you can park opp. side or around the corner in the whole plaza. People ar so lazy, they can't walk 100ft. I came in here to buy formula & I pushed the assistance button twice, it was announced on the intercom, yet nobody came. It was about 10 minutes now. I finally went to the jewelry section and asked the lady there for assistance, named "Blessing". (Mind you, this is only like two aisles away). Again, she paged it on the intercom. So I go back to the baby section waiting for someone to come. (About 5 more minutes). No one came. I then hear someone on the intercom "Whoever paged for the baby formula assistance, please come pick up the key at the fitting room." (She was talking to Blessing). After waiting another 5 minutes for Blessing to come, I walk back to the jewelry section and ask her what is going on. She says "its not my job". Excuse me??? You are literally ONLY two aisles away from the fitting room and two aisles away from the formula, & you're telling me you won't open it. It would have taken about two minutes for her to do so. I nicely tell her they paged HER specifically, if she could just please open the cabinet for me, plus there are more people waiting for formula. (Mind you, I'm pregnant, exhausted, and I just want to go home). Again she says its not her job, & starts giving me attitude. Then a customer comes and she goes to "help them" ignoring me because she does not want to help me at all. At this point, i'm already annoyed and close to speaking to a manager. Until some nice lady finally comes and opens the cabinet for me. BUT she says I cannot take the milk anywhere around the store until I pay for it. So I'm like "ok, that's fine." BUT since the closest register is in the jewelry section, I have to pay with "blessing." I'm just like "whatever, I just want to get out of here." She tried charging me for two formulas, and I told her I'm only buying one but you're charging me for two. And she gives me attitude & says "I know I know! I'm just bothered because its not my job to open the formula cabinet." Here we go again. How about I am bothered by the fact that you won't open the darn cabinet for me after I asked you several times, & after YOU were paged? You were the ONLY associate close by with no customer. Everything in the office was okay. Staff was rude but got the job done. I paid for my services and scheduled a follow up visit. I am an out of state college student so I made the follow up visit but was leaving the next day for school. The day of the appointment they called and cancelled. I got the voicemail and attempted to call back with no answer. So I left for college. I called to get my prescription so I could order more contacts. They refused to give me my prescription because I didn't have a follow up, even though they cancelled. I asked about a partial refund because I paid for services that they would not give me and I paid for the exam but was not allowed to have my results. They said no and another employee told the woman on the phone to "just hang up" on me, because apparently I was asking to many questions. They were extremely rude the entire phone call and treated me in an extremely disrespectful manner. I was very upset afterwards as they would not help me in any way and were even laughing at me. I would not send anyone to this eye center! They do not have kindness or good customer service at all. I am now out a good chunk of money and can not get more contacts until I pay for another exam. I've been going to this vision care center for 7 years and have had total satisfaction. My eye exams are done at a reasonable price along with having a good staff to help me with selecting and fit of my eye prescription needs. Also anytime I need adjustments to my frames they take care of it asap. read more

I hate coming here. It feels like a special kind of hell. It's always busy. The best though, was this time I was waiting in line, and another checkout stand opened up. It quickly filled up. Another one opened up, so I rushed over. The cashier took such a long time "setting up," that I wasn't even sure if he was opening, so I asked him. He didn't say anything, and just kind of waved at me. I try to get back into the line I jumped from, and the guy who was behind me (and now I was trying to go in front of) didn't want to let me in. Mind you, I was buying one item, while he was buying a whole host of groceries, etc. I turned around and saw that the checkout stand where I jumped to was indeed now open, but now there was a line. Thankfully, the first person in line there let me back in. Possibly my bad for jumping out w/o being 100% certain with oral (and perhaps written) confirmation from the cashier that his checkstand was indeed being opened at that precise moment. these guys never freaking pick up the phone. and one out of three they did they hung up on me after a split second. 4th try i finally got a person who didnt hang up the phone, i tell her the number of the item i wanted to check to see if it was in stock. the lady doesnt say anything and simply forwards me to some other department. after few minutes, another lady picks up the phone and goes Can I help you? having to explain the same thing , i was put on silent hold for a few minutes again. then asks me Can I have that number again? then 5minutes later, a latino guy answers the phone and asks Can i help you? i told him that I already gave the number twice for the item to check to see if the item is in stock. the guy says Let me grab my phone so i can put that number down. while I wait, they dont mute the phone and i can hear them laughing over some everyday conversation. can people please have some common sense? read more

The working personal where helpful, I ordered a bike on line and it was assembled very fast at the store (even though I was given few versions about how long it will take, the person who actually assemble the bikes was helpful and did it very fast). I didn't notice anything different in this store compare to Target shoppers or any other place. Prices are better though. First off, I just want to say that this post & rating is for their AWFUL CUSTOMER SERVICE. Because I live far away from any Walmarts and have to drive 45 mins to get there, I thought I would CALL and see if they have what I need first before i head over and not waste gas. So I called the store asking if they have the car battery I need in stock. The lady transfers me to another dept (thats fine)....then a long wait after, I asked again & the lady transferred again....then a long wait after, I asked again, & the lady transferred again. (seriously?) this actually happen 5-6 times, asking & then transferring... I even asked one lady if she was just gonna transfer me again and she said "she just an operator" (really?) 15 minutes on the phone of just waiting and hearing their damn dial tone &&& in the end, I didn't get a damn answer. They just kept transferring and transferring & I got fed up and hung up....like really? I mean how hard is it to just look it up thru their system and tell me...its the 21st century & they don't even have some sort of inventory list. GET IT IT TOGETHER. After all that calling, my dad was in need of the car battery. so we went anyways. TURNS OUT THEY DON'T HAVE IT IN STOCK. so I asked an associate and the other associate had to ask another guy (because apparently he had the tool to scan and see) so i waited for a good 5 minutes because he was helping someone else. and then he checks to see if the milpitas store had it and he says they do and told me to call and see before i head there. AND i straight up told him that we tried calling your store && no one picked up. So I called the milpitas store and RIGHT AWAY, i get the help I need and they actually have it in store. & they actually can install it for us for free!! They need better loss prevention. I ordered an item to be shipped site to store. After I got an email saying pick up confirmation, I went to the store to pick up my item, and was told that the item was already picked up. I told them that I have not authorized anyone else to pick up item, so there must be an error. They insisted that they check ID everytime someone picks up an item. After saying they will open an investigation, 4 days passed by with hardly any progress. I called every day, and they told me Loss Prevention is handling this, and Loss Prevention told me they had narrowed down the time when item was picked up and they might look up security footage but they need transaction number first. 2 days later, when I called again, I was passed along the phone like telephone tag, each person who answered the phone asked me what the problem is and said they will transfer me to the appropriate person. When the third person asked me what the problem is, I could not stand it anymore and asked for the store manager. Then I was put on hold for another 10min without anyone picking up the phone. I guess the high and mighty manager couldn't take some time out of his busy schedule to deal with customer service. In fact, all this delay and reluctance to proceed with any investigation reeks of an inside job. This Walmart store is reluctant to investigate any possible theft case and insist they have done their job of checking ID. Today, I went to the store personally. The guy at the dot com counter was nice enough and called the manager. Again, another 15min wait, and the store manager could not deign to show up. The poor guy kept apologizing to me and I felt sorry for him. I was there for almost 30min, when 1 guy in casual clothes walked by and asked what was going on. Turns out he is the assistant manager (I think his name is Mansu...not sure, sounded like that) and it was his off day. Upon hearing the incident, he said the store will find a similar item or refund me. Finally, someone who cares about customer service! For the store and the store manager, I would give zero stars if I could. Because the assistant manager was willing to take time to help me even though it was his off day, that's one star. read more
