I stopped here on my way home and they were fine. I found most of what I wanted and there even had some things that others don't have. It was a good experience. I no longer participate in self-checkout because of all of the problems within it, including Walmart adds an extra number to the UPC so it makes it hard to get points on applications like Fetch or Ibotta. This parking lot has an issue too because from the parking lot to the door is on a steep incline. People in wheelchairs, with walking problems, etc. would have a tough time. read more

I have tattoos a long day with my wife a newborn and didn't have time to shower or shave. After realizing I paid when we watch the surveillance tape. He still wanted to hold me after the cameras showed that I did everything like a normal customer, but he just wants to be unprofessional profiling me and tried to hold me against my wishes and wouldn't let me leave with the merchandise I just bought and wanted to just keep making me watch the tape of me doing what I was supposed to do and not be some bum because I have tattoos and a rough day. read more

On the surface, this is your typical Walmart Supercenter, but go a little deeper and BAM! This Walmart has the pickup option, so that you never have to step foot inside! Yeeeeessssss!!! I can take advantage of Walmart prices and their great variety of products without ever again experiencing what it is to travel on foot miles upon miles, getting from one side of this behemoth to the other in search of toothpaste, detergent, a cheap sports bra and avocados. Yep, I'm serious. You can place your order on their app, choose a pickup time, drive up when your order is ready and someone comes out of the side door - magically, it seems - WITH ALL OF YOUR STUFF!!!! ITS ALL THERE!! They pull the rolling cart to your car, load you up, and you are back on your way. I've ordered groceries 3 times now and it's been a dream. It seems I've had a substitution on each visit. Yesterday they were out of their brand of a 1/2 gallon of skim milk, so they substituted a whole gallon. Substitutions are usually better, and the price remains the same. If you love Walmart, but can't handle what it means to enter the store, USE THE PICKUP OPTION!! It's a life changer. read more

I doubt anyone at Wal-Mart is interested in this review based on the current number of stars. But for all of the potential customers, I guess I will add this bad review to the rest of the batch. I was just there on Monday afternoon. I got a few things and when it was time to check out, I noticed that there were more than plenty self check out registers available near the entrance closest to the Philly Cheesesteak restaurant. I don't work there, they are not offering discounts, so I pressed on looking for a shortish line with a human employee. I saw two open lines and one potentially open line. The first two lines were longer than I appreciated and the potentially open line had only one customer and no light welcoming more so I just kept it pushing. After reaching the other end of the store and seeing way too many more self check outs, I made a U turn with my cart and conceded to wait in one of the long lines. I considered getting into the potential line but figured the lady, Charisse, I'm quite sure is what her name tag said, was not taking anymore customers. So I waiting in the longish line behind a diligent young lady who had more customers than you could shake a stick at waiting patiently for their turn. As Charisse, the cashier on the same aisle (register #2 I'm sure it was), finished her lone customer, I imagine someone either inquired or she beckoned for someone to come her way because suddenly there was a bunch of chatter in my line and people began heading her way. I joined the exodus and took my place in Charisse's line. A few long minutes later when it was almost my turn, there was an entire repeat of what I just experienced. People who were in line waiting on the cashier who should get a raise, someone asked if Charisse was accepting new customers. I did the right thing and I asked Charisse she said yes. So I told the person who asked. Then I asked Charisse if her light was working and she told me yes but she doesn't want it to work. I repeated that too, to the person who had taken their place in line behind me. Charisse did not bother to turn her light on and I really felt sorry for the other cashier who cared enough to do most of the work while Charisse half-you know what-ed through her shift. That's right....pass your neglect of job duty on to the customers and make their wait longer than it should be. So there's that. Next, I am not sure who has the job of keeping the belt clean at the registers. I don't know if it is the person who is working the register or there is someone who comes around and sprays and wipes. What I recall seeing in the past, is the person who is working the register grab a spray bottle and a roll of paper towels and clean up spills, wet spots, etc. Anyway, the belt at Charisse's register was disgusting. I took pictures. With all of the different viruses going around, we can't afford to be negligent and allow bacteria to grow right before our eyes. In addition to the gross conveyor belt, I noticed several buckets placed around the store catching water falling from the ceiling. Finally, don't bother ordering online and picking up from this store. No organization whatsoever. It's a free for all. No need to act civilized and call the number on the sign or use the app to check in. You basically have to get out of your car and nag or pay someone to assist you. If you want to order online and pick up, do that at the Wal-Mart on Veteran's. They are only professionals when it comes to that. I've tried them all and that is the only place I will go for that. This place got one star because of the wonderful cashier who was actually working and had a pleasant countenance the entire time. Oh and because I couldn't give zero. read more

Usually go to this Walmart over any other one in the area. I find it less busy than the rest and they have more self check outs. Checking out is always my issue at Walmart's! In the veggies and fruit section, I had trouble finding bags to put the actual produce in. It was a Sunday so they had a fun little tasting cart which my kids loved! Fruit snacks and peanut butter bars! Perfect! They always have the best prices so I can't complain about that. And they usually have just about everything you are looking for. I have shopped this W Esplanade Walmart for years - and it is deplorable....but yesterday was the worst....went in to shop but first used the restroom back in shoe area.....the stench was incredible.....floor littered with TP and urine puddles...not unusual but 5 yes FIVE employees in the restroom and one apparently finishing up with a mop and bucket....I say apparently because she was putting the mop in the bucket and then she left.....then going thru the store back by eggs/dairy the smell was overwhelming.....a mix of dead animal blood and rot and mold mildew ...and an unidentifiable odor...so much that I finally just left my cart and did my shopping at Rouses and Target.....this is the worst day at Walmart...its always dirty and just looks rundown but when the aroma makes you want to puke......its time to find alternative. read more

I go to this Walmart every morning before work to pick up a salad for my lunch. A while back I descovered a hair in my salad, which are made in store. I let it go and brushed it off thinking it was a one time thing. Well today while eating my salad Wichita had brown lettuce mixed in, I pulled a long black hair from my mouth. I then called the store and spoke with Tiffany the manager on duty. She was dismissive and offered a 15 dollar gift card. I enforced her that wasn't necessary and I would come after work to bring the salad, hair, and to speak with her. Spin arrival she did not want to come up front. When she finally did, she aproachef me charging. When I began to speak she cut me off, by saying let me stop you there. She stayed that the sales aren't made in the store, which is not true. She then yelled and told me to take my 15 dollar gift card and go. She was being loud and treated me like a bum trying to get money. She was abrasive, dismissive, and irate. With management like this no wonder the service is so bad. After leaving I walked by the deli and yet another employee was in the deli without an hair net. This absolutely disgusting, and dangerous. Do not eat any of the prepared food in this Walmart. They aren't taking proper health precautions, and they have bad hygiene. She then alerted cops to watch me. One star is still to many.Every time I go to this location I have a problem with the staff,but Sunday took the cake.we were finished with our shopping and checked out.We we're walking to the exit on the very right side of the walk way .when I see three employees one looks like a manager,the third girl walking was just to much .We didn't move our basket but obviously she figured we was going to move our basket out of HER WAY!!! Like everyone needs to move out of here way .I have had it so I keep moving in the same space I was going, surely she was going to move over to let customers by...NOPE She still had the attitude of we better move out of her way .now keep in mind we as close to the side as we can so there is no moving.so I hit her side with the basket.She literally looked at us and said excuse You with this attitude.I told her no baby you ran into me. This location is extremely large. I was never aware of this actually location. This store attracts so many different people and I enjoy people watching as they all enter throughout the day. The employees are willing to assist you regardless if you are seeking help in another department. They do not mind stopping their work assignment to assist customers in need. I've witnessed some employees walk around the store to assist a customer then returned to find the customer to ask him is everything okay. Great training read more

Not happy at all... so this is the first time I have been to the "BIG" store as my husband and I refer to it in quite a while. We generally buy our groceries from the small Walmart Neighborhood Grocery.. well it seems like Walmart no longer wants living breathing customers in the Super stores! First all the shelves are almost empty, obviously from the Walmart "online" employees who shop for the "online" customers and the now they have installed some sort of security bars you have to walk through to enter the store. They have installed several more self check outs and removed human cashiers. The cashiers that are still employed, are no longer friendly and now EVERYONE is stopped and almost cavity searched before leaving the store with your full buggy of groceries. Simply ridiculous! Signs all over the store trying to encourage you to shop on line and either pick up or have delivered..so I'd say it's safe to say they don't want you actually visiting the store! I would recommend never patronizing this Walmart again. The employees are very rude and nasty. Many times they will not place an item in the bag. Twice they did not put an item in. First time, they said they had a video that the item wasn't placed in the bag, but I couldn't see the video. Second time, they said that the cashier would have it noted if she didn't place the item in the bag, and they had no note. I asked what happened to the videos? They said they didn't know. When I buy a pack of cigarettes they never ask for and I.D. Now today the woman asked for one when I'm 53 years old because she didn't like my race. I had walked from home, not drove so I didn't have my license on me. Don't even bother to call to complain they have a nasty, "whatchoo gonna do?" attitude. I recently moved to Kenner and have been shopping at Walmart more than I ever have as it's in my new neighborhood. I shop fresh so I usually stop in everyday or every other day and I have a new gripe to add to my list of reasons I quit shopping at Walmart in the first place... The personal shoppers with their cart of big, blue creates are so rude. They practically mow you down in the isle or coming around the corner. They stop their cart in the middle of an isle so you can't go around and there you stand waiting while they look at their phone ...look for their item... look at their phone... look for their item. A man got tired of waiting and asked her to move over and still we waited. I made the mistake of needing to use the ladies room... OMG... the toilet paper dispenser was off the wall, there was no where to hang my purse, the trash compartment for sanitary napkins was over flowing and smelled horrible, the walls and doors were filthy. Only one soap dispenser hung on the wall, the sinks and counters were gross and I couldn't get the water to come on. I'm going back to using Rouses. read more

I'm really hating how this walmart handles checking out overnight now and I hope it doesn't become a thing at the other area walmarts. Overnight the only registers open are the self serve. Most of the time you can't find the cashier that supposed to be overseeing those. Did I mention I hate the self checkouts themselves? The scale part is annoying. Don't even bother trying to buy alcohol or cigarettes during the night here. This walmart seems to have the crankiest employees even when compared with the Tchoupitoulas one. No warmth, no friendliness, heck not even helpfulness. I brave this walmart in the middle of the night and god forbid you might need to get down an aisle getting stocked. Be prepared for stink eye or terse and abrupt conversations. The only redeeming qualities of this walmart is they're the only one in the GNO area that stocks real sugar wild cherry pepsi, they're 24 hrs and they have pretty good clearance from time to time. I only go here when my nerves can stand walking half a mile from my car to the back of the store just for some eggs and milk. The shopping carts at this location will work your nerves. They are old and need replacing! The wheels make loud noises along with the cart shaking and veering to the left or right while you're simply trying to go straight. I tried to avoid the cashiers by using the self check out, but if you have adult beverages, you must stand in the other lines. The older the cashiers, the more friendly they seem. That's just my experience. So overall, I'll go here when I don't feel like paying more at Rouses just blocks away, but the frustration you sometimes encounter makes up for the pennys you save. This is the worst WalMart ever. I was in this store today and because I need a handicap cart, because of my breathing. Well anyway, there were none to be found. Seems like the entire store had maybe 3 or4 at the most. As far as the CSM's they were a complete washout. They said that they went walking around the entire parking lot and store and they didn't find a damn thing. The CSM'S didn't even bother to come and give an update and say they would be on the lookout and keep looking. Then they had an Assistant Manager come and talk to me and this other gentleman. Well, this guy was completely useless. He stated that he would go and check in the back to see if they had any that were working. He did NOTHING. Horrible management from Lynette. Saturday evening, October 5th, my husband and I went to pick up groceries. There weren't many registers open so the one we wound up at had a short conveyor. This is a problem when you have a cart full of groceries since there isn't much room to put the groceries on while the cashier checks you out. So I saw two empty carts and went to get one to put our bagged groceries in and my husband can continue putting groceries on the belt. Well, Lynette who we found out later is the manager, told me she was using those carts. I was having mobility issues and couldn't walk too far so I returned to the register to tell my husband I was unable to get another cart. Meanwhile, our bagged groceries are being put on the floor. So my husband goes to get a cart. He sees the two empty carts that no one was using and grabbed one. Lynette walked over and told him she was using the carts. He then had to go find an empty cart leaving the customers behind us waiting because our bagged groceries took over the small counter space, the floor and the bag area so they couldn't check out. After loading our groceries into the cart my husband asked the cashier to see the manager. Well, here comes Lynette. My husband advised Lynette that she needs to learn better customer service skills. Lynette stared him down. By the way, the entire time we were checking out, loading our cart and waiting on the manager who turned out to be Lynette, those two carts that Lynette claimed she was using, were still empty unused. If this is the type of people they have to choose from for managers they need to rehire more responsible and caring people to be put in charge of customers. I have never, ever had to put my groceries on the floor in any store ever. I am now awaiting a response from corporate headquarters to let them know how Lynette treated us. The manager would not allow me to take her picture I tried apparently she's scared.Stood in line at sporting-goods counter for 45 minutes had to page the girl four times to come still never came. The police officer on duty also attempted to help my going to management again. management did nothing to get this girl to come and open the case. A normal store employee that was walking by did attempt to help several times doing the best she could. They finally found the employee in the break room. I Ended up having to call the store operator to get a manager on the phone to try to locate this girl from Sporting goods. to get her to come out and open it up to get my ammunition. After I finally got my ammunition I went to customer service to file the formal complaint the head manager came out of the back room and refused to give me any paperwork. She told me that she would reprimand her I said OK let's go now so I know that you did it. She told me that she would not do it in front of me I said then how do I know that you're going to even do it. That's when she got upset and went locked her self back in her office. I tried to file a formal complaint she would not let me do it told me to call corporate so that's what I'm going to do I want both of these people at least reprimanded and or fired. And I want proof. Ugh, hate coming here! If only their prices weren't so good and it was so close to where I live. For one thing, the grocery section doesn't always seem to have some of the more specialty products or higher end brands. My main issue is just the people. People are just down right rude when they shop at Walmart. Most cart drivers don't seem to have any etiquette whatsoever. Keep your head on a swivel when crossing intersections, as many people don't stop when coming out of an aisle. Many of the employees are very disinterested as well. Backing up out of the parking space can be a challenge as common etiquette is again frequently ignored. Three quarters of the way backed out and a car turns on your aisle? Guess what? Good chance they aren't going to stop and let you finish. I also hate how if you go later, they close self checkout and only leave like two lines open and the lines can get really long. Pray that the cashiers don't have any issues and have to call a manager. They don't always come the first, second, or third time. I've had to wait 30 minutes for a checkout issue to be resolved once for the person in front of me. read more

I had to bring my car to this Super Walmart to get a tire . Big mistake . Got here at 810am. Thinking I will be out of in less than 1hr not having no one in front of me . The two lazy guys that supposed to work on my tire decided that it was more important to walk outside and take the trash . Serious . I ask the girl that waited on me what is taking so long .
