I have only been to this Lynnhaven Walmart a few times. It's actually one, if not the largest by square footage in Virginia Beach. It's recently undergone a renovation. I found parking easy in their huge lot. No debris in the lot or on my walk up to the doors. With not shopping them for years I browsed the whole store, but I only needed something from the pharmacy. I found things overall clean, well stocked shelves that were organized. The prices always kick butt compared to competitors. The pharmacy is up front and very busy on a mid day weekday. I needed something over the counter, but did check out with the pharmacy staff. The young man was friendly and the transaction smooth. They need to stop selling food and medicine at Walmart in order to comply with federal law against pets contaminating what should be a clean place for said items. Security won't so much as question someone that brought their pet into the pharmacy or grocery sections of the store. I saw three pet dogs in the pharmacy in the twenty minutes I spent in the store this morning. We've had phone apps to have food and medicine brought out to the car for more than a quarter century now. There is no reason to bring a dog into a pharmacy or grocer. read more

I'm giddy this morning! Maybe it's the pot of coffee I just had! Lol! So what better way to spend some excess energy by walking around Walmart? This particular Walmart is nice and clean, unlike a lot of other Walmart stores in the area. It's just after thanksgiving and I've resigned myself back to my jail sentence, AKA diet. So it's off to the produce section as I haul my slouchy sweatpants self (as my skinny jeans are just a little too skinny for me to breathe in today). I've yet to encounter any bad cucumbers or squash, so I always grab a few. Plus, at less than $1 per cucumber and just over $1 per pound for squash, my greedy tummy will get filled with fiber for cheap! Because I still have such an insatiable sweet tooth, I grab a few iced coffees. They now have Twinkies and Ding Dong flavored iced coffee in a bottle for a little over $2, which isn't bad. One of the things I love about Walmart are their sale items. Because I go swimming every other day, I always have a few swimsuits packed in my gym bag. Today happened to be a lucky day for me as I found a two piece swimsuit for $2, $1 per top and bottom. What a find! Quick self checkout and I'm off! read more

The thing that makes shopping at this location pleasant is an employee by the name of Josh (wish I knew his last name). Every time I see him...he has a smile on his face. He speaks to everyone and he is so helpful. I was shopping in the store recently and saw him. I had to tell him how great he is at his job and how much I appreciate his kindness. "0" stars not available. I bought a brand new countertop microwave and opted for free delivery. When I saw delivery driver walking up to front door I went out to greet her and check on package. When I opened front door, the driver quickly snapped the delivered picture and started to walk away. I looked at the box which was broken open, taped shut and then ripped open again so I walked up to her car and told her that we needed to open and inspect for obvious damage. It was destroyed inside too so I refused delivery and she told me that I couldn't do that because she already took a picture which means delivered and she is not allowed to do pickups??? She gave me a number to call to set up a pickup of damaged microwave so I called and Walmart customer service told me that the delivery driver is no longer responsible after picture and if I wanted a new microwave delivered, I must first bring to UPS store or back to store myself and they won't deliver new one until I return to them. Cleaner and brighter than most Wal-Marts, this one was rather empty on a weekday morning when I popped in and took a look through the ammunition cabinet. Lots and lots of some things, mostly shotgun rounds. Not much - in fact, none - of what I wanted, mostly 9mm and .380. Oh well - this is the new normal. My visit on yesteday was great.All the shelves where very well stocked.We where greated at the door with a towel and spray bottle which was applied by the most friendly greeter. She was wearing a mask and gloves for he own safety and protection. The employee's where very friendly and patient.,not a lot of lines at 3:30 the cashiers where really moving in a timely fashion,no long lines which this store is known for. We where preparing for a party for my granddaughter we where able to find everything we needed and more. I must say I was very impressed with the flow and customer service.I wish I had notes the young ladies name at the self checkout she was so sweet and pleasant to be around,helpful so deserves recognition. What a transformation this store has experienced in recent years!! It bears little resemblance to the WalMart of Christmas Past. That WalMart featured a couple of aisles of food items, about a dozen cash register lines with most lines closed, and your typical choices of auto, outdoors, bedding, small appliances, and tightly packed apparel. The WalMart of Christmas Present has morphed into a Supercenter with only the parking lot resembling the years past. The most stunning changes can be found in the full service grocery section. Now I have to offer the caveat that I am not a WalMart grocery girl. That is to say, it isn't a normal shopping stop. So this review will feature the section of the grocery that warms the heart of a Deep South native. The hot food section features a full selection of southern food choices. You can purchase individual items by the pound. Or choose a take-out plate consisting of a meat and two vegetables for well less than $5, including tax. The plate is filled with enough food to make two meals for even the hearty eater. The most wonderful smell pulls you in the direction of a delicacy not often found in this Mid Atlantic Region: Fried Okra!! And you can get it every day. It's warm and fresh, brought out for the lunch hour, about 11'ish. Can I name the ways you can supplement your luncheon plate with additional yummy southern fare? Ebenezer Scrooge can accuse me of frequenting up scale restaurants from coast to coast. But I'll always eventually return to the sweet southern comfort food of the WalMart hot food bar. read more

I shop at a few different stores for my grocery and household needs. I'm not always at this Walmart because it is a little further away from me than some of the more expensive stores. The prices here are great on most items, in the beauty and foods section in particular. What draws me back here the most is that this Walmart location carries 3 items that I am very fond of and cannot seem to find anywhere else...not even at Walmart locations in other cities. Overall, this is another one of the typical Walmarts here in Hampton Roads. A few years ago, this one was converted to a supercenter. I've been here quite a few times, along with the one in Red Mill. Staff are very friendly here and will help if needed. They do have a good assortment of items to select. The store, along with the restrooms, have always been clean with little to no issues. One thing to note about this Walmart is that they do not accept plastic bags for recycling. You have to go to another Walmart supercenter to do that. They should have them standard at all of their stores, whether or not it's a supercenter. This location also has a Pretzel Factory located on the non-food end of the store, which is near the customer service desk. Here's the reasons why this place only gets three stars from me. The item selection at this supercenter is not as great as the one in Red Mill and some other locations here. What I mean by item selection is that not as many brands are carried. When brands are carried, the flavors and other assorted options are not as diverse. One other reason for only three stars is the lack of cashiers available at the registers. For example, the store was packed tonight, but only had the self-checkout and only five or six staffed registers open, with none open at the non-food end of the store. The self-checkout line was backed up into the main rows of shopping and the lines with cashiers were also pretty backed up. Overall, this location will still get you what you need for the most part. I'd try to stick with non-peak times here though to avoid some of the headaches. read more

Shopped today at the Phoenix drive location. Remodelling the store so you can't fimd anything. Used to walk in and get what ou wanted in 5 minutes. It now takes an hour because everything is mixed up. Used to grocery shop and pick up a prescription since the pharmacy was next to the groceries. Now the older customers have to walk across the entire store to pick up their prescriptions. Today only one checkout lane was open with 8 customers waiting in line. Finally went to the self checkout lanes. Having produce that needs to be weighed, I almost left it sitting at the register since there are no instructions on how to properly scan produce. I made a loud comment about how I can see people stealing from the store because no one is willimg to assist. Finally my wife asked the young girl if she could help. She looked irritated because she was too busy with her smart phone and had to stop to actually do her job. Once she scanned the produce, not offering any instructions to me for future use, she walked away leaving me with the impression she was upset that she was interrupted. read more

So I went up here with my sister to purchase some shampoo and other products after getting off work at around 10:25 PM. We buy what we need and then head to self checkout. I proceed to ring up the items I had and unfortunately at the end found out that the self checkout station I chose wasn't working (the light wasn't green which I should've watched out for but I was tired after work). Anyway, to try and fix this on my own, I go ahead and start trying to remove the items from the list on the screen, with the intent to pay for them at the self checkout station that was actually working to the right of me. The light goes off saying to wait for an employee to help me, which I didn't need by the way. Short girl with a ponytail comes up to me and asks in a rather lifeless manner "what's wrong over here?" So I go, this self checkout station isn't working. She sees that I took off an item and proceeds to say "you took off an item." In my mind I'm like "yeah I know that. Thanks for stating the obvious." She then goes on to say "can I have the item?" And I'm just astonished cuz she's basically implying that I was planning on stealing one of the five other items I was going to pay for. I then tell her in annoyance once I realize "Yeah, I'm removing it so I can go to the other self checkout and pay for it there." For some odd reason she was really slow and repeated the question saying can I have the item yet again. At this point I'm annoyed and my sister pitches in saying "she's trying to remove the items so that she can go to the other self checkout to pay for them there." She finally understands and goes "oh okay. You can pay for it there I got this." No. No you don't got this. You're barely helping and all you did was add onto my boatload of irritation. Overall she was rude and obnoxious and zero help. She really thought I was going to steal something but in reality I was trying to remove all my items from the list on the screen so I could move on and pay for it at the other self checkout. Cuz believe it or not I was raised to have good morals and be honest. Hope I never see her again. Imagine having to deal with her everyday lmao. Be careful if you remove an item from self checkout over at this Walmart. A little wannabe police officer with a ponytail and a bad attitude will be there to worsen whatever stress you might have already had. It's no wonder this place is rated three stars. Should be lower. Worse customer service and worse manager! I purchased an iPhone EarPods at this store on 1/28/22 so I have an extra just in case i lose or break my other one. The only mistake I made is not opening it too soon. Since I lost my other EarPods, I opened the new one I purchased on 1/28/22 only to find out that it was empty. I called electronics and said to come by, bring the box and receipt, which I did. When I got to the store two associates took my receipt and box and went inside the office for few minutes, and come out with I think is the female manager at the store. She looked at me with disgust and said that she cannot refund me anything because I purchased the EarPods 5 months ago. I informed the awful woman that I am not asking for a refund but I want Walmart to give me the EarPods that I paid for. That manager just kept saying that she will not give me the EarPods and looked at me like I am just making it up; I also believe she is racist just by the way she is looking and talking to me. This is not the first time this happened to me. I have purchased a dvd from the same store before all nicely wrap but when I opened the dvd, it was empty. I returned it the same day as a proof and fortunately, the associate who helped me was kind. I am very disappointed with this store. I have been a loyal Walmart customer for many years and would spend more than a $1000.00 each month shopping at their store and yet would not give me what I purchased for in the amount of $19.00. I even called their customer complaint department but all they said was, it is up to manager if they want to provide me the EarPods. If you are purchasing EarPods or any items that are inside a box and not visible, please check before you leave the store. ***Update: Later in the evening while at home, I realized I didn't recall putting away new lunch meat. I got up and checked my receipt and saw it had been placed in my order and I was charged for it, too. I double checked my vehicle, fridge, and pantry (just in case!) but it was nowhere to be found. I emailed Walmart Grocery right away explaining them of what just happened and they refunded my money back the next day, first thing in the morning. They sent me a nice message apologizing for it as well, which was comforting and assuring that they care. Love it!*** **This review is based solely on PICKUP SERVICE.** I've recently started using local grocers' wonderful and convenient service of online shopping and curbside pickup. It's great when you're busy, on the go, or in my case, just plain lazy =) (hey, just keepin' it real, y'all!) I had originally set my pickup location for the Lynnhaven Pkwy but silly ol me forgot to check out online last night so this morning, I was notified my selected pickup time had expired. (Insert crying face emoji here) I decided to check other locations and voila! Phoenix Drive came thru with my preferred time slot of 1-2 pm. Winning! My items transferred to this location and I made sure to check out ASAP so I wouldn't lose my spot. And being that I basically did same day pickup, I was allowed a small 20 minute window to add items to my cart. Whoo hoo! Winning again!! If you've never used this service, it's pretty simple. First of all, check with your grocers. Some offer free services for the first x amount of visits, or, some, like Walmart, offer it for FREE when you spend $30. When you're on your way to pickup, simply check in on their app, plug in the color of your vehicle, and park in one of the designated orange parking spaces. No need to even call, either. The grocery tracking thingy tracks your route and I'm guessing so does the store because I was just driving up when I saw a gentleman pulling a cart behind him. I thought he was delivering groceries to another car already parked but nope.... he pulled right up to me when I parked and asked if I was Tami. Now, if that ain't quick and efficient, I don't know what is! Harley was great. He was cute, he was nice, he asked where I would like my groceries, and loaded them up fairly swiftly. He even asked if I'd like my eggs up front with me but I declined. He also told me of 2 substitutes they had to do which was not a big deal; they were just cleaning supplies. I would definitely come back and use this location for pickup service again. The ONLY downside I have to mention is the fact that whoever bags my groceries need training. This 1 item per bag thing is not cool!! You can put more than 1 item per bag, I promise. Other wise, I have nothing else that's negative about my experience. This Walmart is literally racist my daughter was caught Stealing mind you there was 2 white dudes one bigger than the other she walked past them thinking they were speaking another language and when she had tried to leave she explained to me what happened they took her items and when she volunteered to pay for the items they claimed it was to late and that they're going to charge her which she had accepted what wasn't appreciated was how they were only pointing out black people who looked "suspicious" ontop of that they had the cop following her around and she was on her phone the whole time she had decided to leave due to feeling uncomfortable as stated she had gotten paid the amount of which the items costed I know stealing is wrong but I didnt appreciate them not giving her the chance to pay for it as she did apologize was very cooperative also one of the people had lied on her and said she tried to open several packs of underwear in which she had not tried to and lastly one of the people seemed very happy about her court date and they even said which room. read more

This is a store that you will go to in a pinch, the employees are typical "Wal Mart" employees, nothing fantastic, they seem to be just getting through the day. I've only come here for small shopping trips since it's so close to my job. It's a typical Walmart, but I will say the customer service is good. I'm always greeted with a smile upon entering. Also, I like how this location has a private parking lot which cuts down on traffic and congestion tremendously! This Walmart didn't have permanent round color coding labels (1/4 inch) and all black waist band bags. Entry-level yoga mats 3 millimeters weren't available in dark colors. Thus, you had to pay at least $14.84 to get a yoga mat 5 millimeters in a dark hue. The produce department has often some out of stock products (3 lbs. bag of red delicious) .... The store was clean and well-organized. The staff was friendly and customer-oriented, the restrooms were clean, the check-out has been consistently fast, easy and fast return for unused articles with receipts.... Went in here to get my daughter a blanket w her recently passed cat on it and they were very rude throughout the process of helping us. I paid 30 dollars for the blanket that never came. They told us it would be a few weeks, which turned to months. We tried contacting them and CUSTOMER SERVICE did absolutely nothing to help us recover the blanket we paid for. For the past several weeks, possibly a few months now, it's becoming harder to shop there. They've taken, at least in their grocery section, to doing all their stocking during the day and blocking the aisles with those three-tiered carts; like the shoppers are in their way by trying to spend money to pay their salaries. This afternoon was especially crazy, stockers in some cases had two of those carts in the aisles. Today, the day before Thanksgiving, the store was jammed with shoppers like me, picking up last minute items and at times I felt like I was going the wrong way down a 1-Way Street designed for a flock of hippopotamuses. And to top it all off, I came around one aisle and there were three employees standing there doing nothing but two of them laughing at the one who was cursing at someone on her cell phone. Made a quick stop to pick up a few things for a fishing trip, was disappointed to find that this walmart didn't carry red worms, instead they had either blood worms or night crawlers (....kind of on the pricey side btw). The associate who helped us was nice and knowledgeable. There was one store associate who I felt went above and beyond, she is a greeter at this walmart and her name is Amy. She was awesome and just showed so much positive energy and overall enthusiasm that you would (sad-but-true) normally would not find in a walmart in the hampton roads area. Let me transfer you....I ask again and they transfer me again. ...I ask again and they say they have Winchester and something else.... This Walmart is convenient, clean, organized, well merchandised, usually fully stocked and I believe it's open 24hrs. There is a garden center, pharmacy & Subway. The associates in the pharmacy dept. are knowledgeable and helpful as are some of the floor associates. So I am updating my review because this Wal-Mart location consistently exceeds my expectations not only as a Wal-Mart but a shopping experience period. I still do the Wal-Mart Grocery Pick Up service which I love and the people that bring out the groceries are always sooooo friendly. Occasionally like today I do have to go inside the store. Now since I work in this area I only visit between 1 and 2pm but it is always a great experience. The store is always clean and cashiers are plentiful. Self checkout is a breeze and if you need assistance there is someone stationed there at all times. Today in particular I visited the store because I wanted to purchase a toy that I saw they had on sale online. I didn't opt to do the Wal-Mart store pick up where you buy online and pick up at customer service because you cant choose a time and I didn't want to come in after work to pick up. I also like to poke my head in their clearance sections so I didn't mind going in. I scored a few pairs of $2 black leggings so that theory worked out :-D Anyway when I find the toy for my son I am surprised to see it costs $20 more than it is online. I pull up my phone and sure enough it is still on sale online. I do my due diligence to make sure it is the same item before I ask for assistance. I happen to see a staff member walking by and I explain to him my situation. He advises that he will talk to a manager to see what I should do. I was then told to take the item to the register and ask for a Manager up there. Once I get to the register and explain the situation the manager uses a scanner to confirm that it is indeed a lower price online. With no hesitation the price was honored and I was on my way. As we left the building the walmart greeter asked for our receipt and proceeded to interrogate us on what we were doing in the area since I was wearing a neighboring schools hoodie and why were so far from home. Ummm its all the same its still a Virginia Beach school. I felt it wasn't small talk, maybe she should actually pay attention to the shady people walking around rather than the family that just went in for a few items. I come to this location often as it is close to my work. I've never had and issue here until yesterday when I had a problem at the pharmacy. My doctor put in my prescription on Monday and when I got there after 5:30 they told me they had 1 in stock and that they were still getting it ready for me and that it would be ready in 20 minutes. I told them I didn't want to wait and asked if I could pick up the next day, they said yes. I get there at 9 am the next day and a different lady at the counter told me it was on back order. I asked how could that be possible if they were making it for me last night and if they gave it away to someone else. She in so many words said I don't know I wasn't here last night and that she will call other Walmarts to see if they have it and to wait. I said I wasn't waiting and that they can call me when they figure this out. I get back to my work 10 minutes later and they call. She asked if I was wanting the other medication (she said the medication name) and I said yes, whichever is the most recent one and the other one I haven't taken in forever. She said that one they had and to pick it up. So, I get there after work and it is not the same one I have been taking! I told her (a different lady again) this doesn't look like the one I take and asked if this is my most recent and she said yes. So I took it. And, when I got to the counter I had 2 Litter Coke bottles with me and she wouldn't check them out because there was a big line, even though she just did it for a lady in front of me who had a basket full of groceries!! Now, I am not sure where this confusion started. Maybe I said the wrong prescription name because i'm not sure of the name or maybe they weren't checking and doing it correctly when I asked them over and over again if this was the most recent one that I have been taking for years now and each time they said yes.. Now i have the wrong medication and don't know what to do. I am so unbelievably frustrated, I felt they just tried to rush me out, they didn't care about me or the medication and very poor customer service. read more

First off, whoever designed the layout in this place was either drunk, stoned beyond stoned or had some serious issues. This is the worst layout I have ever seen in any store. WTH were they thinking???? That aside, they have the typical things a Walmart would have. The staff was polite as I needed to ask two different people questions and they were knowledgeable and gave me the help I needed. That alone kept it at three stars because the layout of this place made me want to lean towards two stars! read more
