Definitely a sub-par shopping experience. With a good sling-shot I could break their windows from my patio, so this ought to be my store of preference for just about anything. Sadly, no. Pathetically limited selection in all departments. Half empty shelves throughout the store. Goods pulled out of their packaging and scattered around the shelves. Almost non-existent staff to help with queries, and those you can find don't know their ass from their elbow. For the last several years, I declined shopping at Walmart because they were not willing to adequately compensate their employees, and perhaps as a result, many of their employees were not very helpful - particularly the older ones. I also never felt quite safe at the stores - almost a culture shock shopping there. But since, I've found that Walmart is definitely the superstore for online orders. Not only are there products difficult to find elsewhere, but they have the lowest prices, as well. Free and fast delivery, also. Even if I order after midnight, most items arrive at my doorstep later that same day! Have no idea how they do it. The status of the orders are continually reported via email, including any rare delay in delivery. I would, however, recommend caution with 3rd party vendors, as their delivery costs can be quite high. So, although I won't step foot in a Walmart store, all in all, their online delivery service can't be beat. read more

Well, I mean...It's Walmart, what can I say? The prices on cleaning supplies and prescriptions are pretty dang good. We come here a lot for household supplies, and I always get any medications here. The plus side to their pharmacy is not only that the copay is usually wayyy cheaper, but their service and filling the prescription is SUPER fast. I requested one online once, and within what felt like 30 seconds after hitting the submit button, I had an auto-call telling me it was filled and ready to be picked up. Kind of amazing, way better than most places. I don't shop for groceries here usually...they don't have a lot of healthy options, produce in general can be kind of expensive, but that seems understandable to me...I don't really want to one-stop-shop at Wally-World anyways. The bonus on shopping at this particular location is that it is soo close to a bunch of other stores, so if they don't have what your'e looking for, you can just go across the street to Target or Ross or PetSmart or Michaels and you'll probably find it. read more

I have been here many times since they have remodeled and expanded and the only thing the same is the customer service. The remodel is nice and it has nearly everything you would ever look for. This site has glasses plus eye exams, fruits and vegetables as well as other grocery foods, electronics, things for the car, the list goes on and on. The main problem I've had here is I never recieve help when I need it. Now, most times I have no problem looking around trying to find what I need but there are times I'm in a rush and don;t have the time to look all over the entire store for the few items I need. Last time I was here it was late at night and I needed some items for a camping trip the next morinng. After being lost trying to find the items I needed I finally had to find someone who worked here (which took awhile) and get help. They pointed me to the opposite side of the store which apperently was the wrong place. In fact I was only a few aisles away from where I needed. It took me about 30 minutes for a 10 minute trip. Aside from this happening once in awhile this store has alot of things that the average person may need. If not the surrounding stores are Staples, Babies r us, target, ross and a few others just to name a few. read more

I cannot believe I have no yet rated this place all this time. I have been going here for years. Maybe 10+ years now. I use to take my first car here for oil changes, air filter changes and battery changes. They would do a good job. While they worked on my car, I would shop around. I have no yet taken my second car here since I bought it brand new. I also shop here for groceries, hygiene, cleaning products, car products and medicine. They do have a good selection and low prices. This is my go-to location on almost a weekly basis. Most of the employees I have talked with are nice. I highly recommend visiting this 24hr Wally World AFTER midnight. Shopping is a total breeze and you encounter only the"very best" in WM consumers. During our last "hella late night visit " my friend got to experience a young male hipster dufus twerking in parking lot. NO SERIOUSLY! The man who answered in electronics couldn't looking up the item I was looking for because he did not have a computer to see if the item was in stock. He then transferred me to customer service where the women answered the phone "hello" with an attitude. She asked me to hold and did not put me on hold, she just set the phone down to her all of the conversations taking place. Walmart is usually bad but this one takes the cake. 9:32 seconds I was on the phone and finally got an answer. Never again. read more

My husband and I have been coming to this Wal-Mart at least once every week for over a year. The staff is always nice and the have everything we could ever want. The prices are hard to beat for sure. I like to people watch sometimes. Interesting characters come in sometimes! People complain like they expect some kind of perfection. Did you guys forgot where you are? You're in Wal-Mart. Yikes! Now I know where they were coming from when they wrote the "people of Walmart song". My local Walmart is Poway but as I was up near here (at the Babies R Us) I decided to pop in. This Walmart is enormous, but laid out differently to many of the other ones which confused me greatly. It also has groceries which the Poway one doesnt (well, unless you count cookies, chips and alcohol as groceries...). I had a bit of a fussy little one so didnt get to explore the whole store but there was a decent selection of baby items and clothing and I was able to get the diapers I wanted so that was a plus, as was the self checkouts which were available. This is something they dont have in Poway! However, there was an ODD selection of people in there and I was not enjoying browsing as much as I would another Walmart. read more

This is one of the worst Walmart locations around. The customer service desk does not know store policy. They often send people away instead of finding out the right answer to a customer issue. For example.....someone asked if you could buy a gift card with your Walmart card? They said no, the answer is yes. It would've been so easy to say, "I don't know." and get a manager. Another customer wanted to return an item unopened. She didn't want any money back simply to exchange the item for a more expensive one. They told her because she had no receipt. .......that wasn't possible. Again that's not true either. The desk can be used for simple returns, money orders, and exchanges with a receipt. THE WORST customer service I have ever experienced. I requested to speak with a manager, and Vanessa was sent my way. Vanessa is so rude and unprofessional. I cannot believe Vanessa is a manager! I've been shopping at this store for over four years now, along with one other WalMart( Marron Rd ) in our area. This store has had lots of empty shelves for a year or more. It's often the same items week after week and some are random. There are items not carried at this store that the other store always has. That is why I shop both stores every week, spending at least $ 200.00 each week. So, it's a gamble when it comes to the inventory. Oh yeah then there's Cary in the pharmacy, you never know if she is going to be in a good mood or acting like a total jerk ! Very Moody Disposition.... Next isssue with this store is returns....very slow and not efficient in any way. The associates at this store move like they are snails with a terrible attitudes, esp Olivia. None of them have a clue as to what customer serivce is, not a clue ! The Marron Rd store has excellent , friendly customer service every time. That is except the large framed blonde haired lady that monitures the 20 items or less express lane now. She followed us into the lane last week sternly warning us that it's only for 20 items or less.....! My wife invited her to count the items if she wanted.... She turned and huffed away. We had exactly twenty items, we counted before we entered the express lanes. But that is one rare issue in that store, otherwise very smooth ! We appreciate having two WalMarts nearby, normally good selections and good prices. However the employess can ruin your day if you let low paid idiots go about their way of doing as little as possible. I assume it's in part due to spite WalMart for the low wages.....? read more

I am not a fan of this Walmart because they're always out of the things I need and I bought milk there that went bad almost a week before it's expiration date. The first time I thought maybe I left out too long or maybe my fridge isn't cold enough but nope, I made sure I didn't leave it out and we have a brand new fridge that is at the right temperature so Walmart just has crappy milk. I have been shopping with Walmart for 20+ years and would NEVER return to this location. The photo printing department was the most unhelpful and infuriating staff I have yet to encounter. Mind you, 3 weeks later I have STILL not received a response to my inquiry following an experience I had in store on July 20th. I am seeking reimbursement for photos I NEVER received and have been charged for ($36.00). They claimed they had a nudity policy that was not outlined on their website. No one called to contact me saying the photos would not be released or that there was any issue with my order. However, they did send a confirmation that the prints were available to be retrieved. Wouldn't this have been a great opportunity for management to contact their customer and make them aware of the situation? Let me also clarify that the photos had NO full nudity and were not to be distributed for any purpose. The sales agent felt comfortable looking through the photos in front of me while talking with the department's supervisor. It seemed that the employees were more scared of losing their job signing for the prints than they were in providing customer service. Cheap prices are what keep me coming here but it could honestly be better. The store recently got remodeled into a Super Wal-mart and the finishing touches are still ongoing. I love the grocery section but they're still trying to figure their inventory and frequently have empty sections on the shelf. However, I've noticed their prices on things like cereal, snacks, meat, etc are pretty low and cheaper than local grocery chains since they don't have to rely on deals where you have to use a store card to get the savings. Their produce prices are a bit higher than other stores, though. Now, the clothing section is my least favorite section. I can rarely find anything in my size since I have a smaller waist (30x30 pant size) and it's ridiculously hard to find a decent pair of jeans or even something simple like underwear. Also, their selection of graphic tees isn't very good and relies too much on over-marketing slogans that used to be popular or are just flat out rude. The electronics section is also getting a makeover and while I wouldn't recommend for any one who is tech savvy, they have a decent selection of low to mid-range televisions and computers and basic headphones, etc. Their video games are priced a few cents cheaper than most places and it's personally one of the places I prefer to shop for games since they're cheap and generally always in stock. read more

Customer service lies to my face when I try to return a completely unused book, saying it's "against federal copyright law." I was naive and took their word for it until I went home and saw online that this is apparently a common trick used against customers at many Walmarts. Called the customer service manager and asked over the phone why the employee would tell me such a lie when it even says on their own website they allow unused book returns. I was told it was a "misunderstanding" and to come back. Not shockingly, I was hassled once again when I made another trip to this horrible place to finally get my money back from the books. The manager didn't even believe me when I explained that I bought the ebooks instead... Uhh hello I am a millenial? Do you really think I prefer a paperback that will fall apart to an ebook that costs half the price? This Walmart never had enough cashiers working the registers. Every time I go, there are one or two regular lines open, with all the self check out lanes open. If I choose to buy any alcohol I have to go to a regular register with a clerk. So each time I usually end up putting my alcohol back, because there is a super long line for the one or two registers that actually have cashiers working them. We don't work there and should not have to ring up our own stuff. I'm tired of having to stop at multiple stores, because Walmart doesn't have enough registers open with cashiers. This Walmart is the worse store I have ever been to. Rude workers. The place smells horrible and the workers just seem lost. The isles are very unorganized. Nobody can answer simple questions. Overall, pretty good place to shop. The pharmacy has been very helpful; they've helped me a lot with some prescription refills. There are lots of good items in this storeat reasonable prices. For pet owners, I suggest coming here before going to the PetSmart across the street. Much lower prices. Negative: it is usually crowded, if you can, try to avoid peak hours. That's the cost of lower prices, so I can live with it. The Target across the street is almost empty, but when you check their prices you'll see why. read more

FOR THE AUTO "CARE" CENTER: They said they could service my tires. I waited 2 hours in Walmart hell and then they closed without changing my tires. Came back the next day and they didn't have the tires in stock that they said they had. Offered me a discount on more expensive tires (that were a different size) so I ended up paying more money than I originally intended and spent about 4x more time there than I should have. The associate then proceeded to "assist" me by banging on the machine. When that didn't work she walked away without saying a word to me. Jesus was the first person I asked, and he told me to push a button that would notify staff, since he didn't have the keys himself. I shop at this store frequently and save A LOT of money. In view that I was on a limited budget at the time I was preparing to celebrate my son's birthday, I decided to venture out of ordering his cake at our usual store, (that mind you, is only a few blocks away from where we live). I thought I would be getting a bigger cake for about the same price of a smaller cake at the other store. The bakery employee was super attentive and courteous when she took down my order. Before I left the bakery counter, I made sure that the carbon copy matched the description of the cake I ordered. It did. I was to return a few days later to pick it up. When I went to pick up the order, a different employee handed me the cake and told me it was more than the price I had been told originally. I told her I didn't understand why. She said there is an extra charge to add whip cream filling to a one layer cake. I told her that if had I been told that originally, I would not have requested the whip cream filling and left it plain. The bakery employee apologized and told me she would only charge me the regular price for a 1/4 sheet cake with simple border and no special design. (I added toy figurines on top that went with my son's birthday theme). Well, I had ordered a chocolate cake with whip cream filling. To my surprise, upon cutting it, we discovered that it was half chocolate/half marble with whip cream filling. Wait....there's more...the whip cream filling was SO thick(about 1/2 "), it was overpowering the rest of the cake. Perhaps all this could have been overlooked if the cake had tasted spectacular. ummm...NO, it didn't. =/ I was so disappointed, and there was no way I could have "checked" (at the store) that my cake order was done correctly, without ruining the cake. Oh well, lesson learned. On the bright side, at least I wasn't charged more for the whip cream filling. read more

PART 1 OF 2 At approximately 5:30 pm on Wednesday, March 18, 2009, I went to the Wal-Mart store located at 1800 University Drive in Vista, California. I was surprised to notice that the store appeared to be relatively empty of customers, since I understood that the Wal-Mart Corporation is one of the few businesses that has continued to make a profit during these troubled economic times, even record profits. I think I may now know why there were so few customers in the store. I was in a hurry and quickly selected my items. It's a good thing that I knew exactly where the items were since there appeared to be a profound lack of employees at the store - in fact, none that I could see except the few at the checkouts and near the exits and entrances. I hastened to the self checkout area and quickly began to scan my items under the scanner so that I could pay the money due, almost thirty-five dollars ($35.00), and get on with my evening. (By the way, in case you don't know it, Wal-Mart frequently still charges DIFFERENT prices at the checkout from the ones that are posted in the area where the items were located and selected. I have found that this can and does occur at all Wal-Mart stores. Wal-Mart shoppers, beware! You may not be getting some of the great specials that you think you're getting.) Since one of my pet peeves is people who take an inordinate amount of time to understand and/or follow the simple no-brainer instructions included at most self checkouts, I moved fast. I quickly scanned the items over the electronic scanner and placed them in the small bagging area to the best of my ability. When some bags of birdseed did not fit into the small plastic bags in the bagging area, I decided to just place the bags on the metal area so that the scale would register the fact that I had scanned all the items and followed the directions, per the computerized vocal cues. I specifically did not want to have the computer suddenly freeze the transaction so that I and the customers behind me would have to wait for assistance, the likes of which is not always prompt or pleasant. As I pulled one of the items from the metal area, the cheap plastic bag ripped open. I decided to re-bag the item a few feet away when I bagged the other items so that I would be out of the way and the customers behind me could proceed with their transactions. I then pleasantly directed the woman behind me to go ahead and start her transaction as I reached for several bags to bag the items that required it. As I pulled off several plastic bags from the metal bag holder for the purpose of being able to bag my items, a tall, bitter looking elderly woman suddenly approached me and ripped the empty bags from my hands as she yelled, "No! No! No! We're not giving these bags away for free! You can't just take these!" I noticed that the woman was wearing an employee's uniform and had a name badge around her neck. As a business owner myself, I have trained myself to deal with rude employees at businesses by noting their names so I can articulate the facts and the identities later, if necessary. However, presumably on purpose, the woman had turned her badge in the opposite direction so that her name faced herself only and could not be read by anyone else, such as an abused customer. I calmly told the woman, "Madam, you just personally witnessed my bag tear right in front of you. I am simply attempting to bag my items so that the items that I have just purchased do not fall out. If you do not allow me to bag my items appropriately, I will not leave this store without returning them, first. Wal-Mart will lose my sale and my business." Frankly, I was stunned by the unprovoked rudeness and abuse of the employee. I suddenly realized that I had failed to take the receipt from the dispenser and thought it possible that someone, including the Wicked Witch of the West (whom I had obviously and unfortunately just encountered despite the fact that I understood that she had died when Dorothy Gail threw the hot water on her), might allege that I had stolen the items. In genuine surprise, I asked, "Where's my receipt? I need my receipt." The incredibly abusive employee grabbed the receipt from the tray, threw it into the cart, on top of my items, and informed me, "You're done now! Go!" I informed the employee, "I am not done now to my satisfaction. Your behavior is unprofessional, abusive, and unacceptable. I am going to return these items now and this store is going to lose the sale and my business." The woman had a disdainful expression on her face as she responded, "I don't care! That's your problem! Go!" I calmly answered, "Yes, that's obvious [that she didn't care]," and I immediately pushed my cart to the return area. read more
