Though I live in Waipahu, the Pearl City location is actually closer to me. However, I do like Kunia's location a little better. It seems each time I go to this location, the crowd is less and parking is also much easier to find. I like parking in their upper parking lot. On my recent visit, we were able to try their "Scan & Go Express" shopping method. Near the entrance, we were handed a portable barcode scanner. Basically, you scan items as you go and are allowed to already pack them into your own bags, which we brought from home. The barcode scanner can also be used to price check, just make sure you remember to delete the item if you decide to not get it. Upon check out, you go to one of those self-check out counters and scan a barcode on the screen. Your total price comes up, you pay, and then you're ready to go. This method really is the epitome of express shopping. The one thing I did notice, however, is that many of the cash registers were removed. Hopefully, that doesn't mean fewer jobs. read more

Amazing stuff!! I broke my leg six mons ago - I am not 100% able yet. I noticed no available electric cars at that time, even though It was on a mid week late morning. It surprised me! WALMART has less carts then COSTCO!? I needed some items, so I proceeded to shop. I was about to pay, when I've notice I forgot two main things on my list. I asked ANGEL, a young employee if he could direct me to them, to my surprise, ANGEL was a real angel, he offered to go get for me. ANGEL brought them back to me in a matter of minutes. (8th review for 2019) This is for the online (app) ordering only. It's been years since I've went inside & shopped at this location. I ordered a Huffy 16" Sea Star bicycle ($68 on the app) for my niece & scheduled pick up at this Kunia location. I also included the 3yr protection plan for $8.00 more. With tax it came out to be jus a wee bit cheaper than if I picked it up off the rack myself in the sporting goods department. This way I ordered it online (no hassle with the crowds in the store), got an email confirmation the order's ready for pick up, went inside & scanned the barcode for my order at the Pickup Kiosk. Then the customer service rep came & greeted me, showed him my ID confirming the correct person is picking up. He said there were so many people trying to scam & steal other peoples' orders, it's ridiculous. That's also another reason why there's so many surveillance cameras in the parking lot. He went to the back & got my pre-assembled bike. BTW, they assemble it for free!! Woohoo!! All I had to do next was sign his little iPad thingy confirming I picked it up & smooth sailing to the car! I also found out that I coulda checked in on the app so they'd have my order ready in the front next time. Jus a lil note to self for next time. This was very easy & kinda fun kinda transaction. I would do it again jus because it was so easy & I'm not a big crowd fan. A Hui Hou!! On a side note: Look around! It may be others that are the stealing! What? Feel guilty? Huh? HUH?? Stop complaining that it's taking too much time to leave. Next time plan ahead better & don't wait till last minute to shop! There's security cameras inside/outside & more customer service reps around. You gotta figure they're trying to keep the stealing down to a minimum so they can keep the prices down for us. If there's more stealing, prices gonna go up cause they need more security. The employees are only doin their job by checking your bags/wagon for the items on your receipt. Don't get upset with them! This is jus like Costco. Do you complain about how long Costco takes to check your items/receipt? You don't like how they're trying to keep you safe & keep the prices down? This place needs to re-train their employees on customer service skills. Only ONE employee was actually helping us. Everyone else kept saying "THAT'S NOT MY DEPARTMENT IT'S [ ] DEPARTMENT." Its so annoying to shop somewhere and employees are not willing to help. It also took us about 10 minutes to actually find someone! Walmart kunia workers need to take some form os customer service course I go to the Waipahu location every other day to do some shopping the workers act like you are shoplifting one Associate named Arouray actually took the scanner out of my hand and started scanning my items . I'm so tired of these associates acting like this they should really put back the cash registers and do their damn job instead of accusing people of shoplifting.....I call corp on them once a week but corporate don't do anything about it... Been coming here since 2001 and its a hit or miss at this store with customer service. First off i think its rude to talk in another language in a workplace and until this day its still happening there. Also bought something in the sporting goods section couple months ago (just started yelp) and a tall guy with glasses was grumbling didnt want to do his job i guess help bringing item to our car and the other guy,caucasian i guess, lack of customer service skills too. The salesperson,hawaiian or asian, he was professional tho. This is our favorite Walmart on Oahu because of the easy parking and self check-out. My husband and I patronize at least once a week and ever since CoVid, we appreciate the self check-out even more. However, one suggestion would be to have their team members wipe down the self check-out after each customer use. Team members are very good at gathering up carts and antibacterial wipes are available to wipe cart on your own or they also provide a spray bottle. I like the workout attire selection which changes up frequently. Teams are always working hard restocking the shelves so if you need to ask a question they are available to assist. Overall this is one of the cleanest Walmart's and convenient overall. Kudos to the general manager! read more

The customer service here is substandard. I have been here about a dozen times now and every single time there is something different that causes a problem. Whether it's the register is not working. Nobody available to give you a propane tank key for over 20 min. The parking being blocked off for unknown reasons. Aisles blocked off in the middle of the Business day so people have to walk all the way around just to go check out. Management needs to really reevaluate some of the processes and procedures here. The one positive to this place is the friendly greeting and the cleaning team at the register. Everything else just seems so disorganized and unsettling. read more

Here's my first one-star rating of 2014 and the lucky recipient is Kunia Wal-Mart! Thanks, Kunia Wal-Mart, for wasting 30 minutes of my precious life and raising my blood pressure. I should have known things were going to get weird the minute I pulled up into the parking structure; there's a so-called "homeless" girl sitting at the corner with a sign that says "Hungry Hungry Hippie"....Okay....She didn't look hungry, and she was obviously faking the Hippie thing...Hipster, maybe, but no hippy. Lose that middle comb part, the expensive "torn" jeans and the head bandanna. Also refrain from drawing daisy chains on your sign. Next comes the weird parking lot. Very poor design with tight turns, narrow spaces and confusing lay-out. I just cringe to imagine this place during Christmas but that's no longer my problem after today as I will never come back. Went to hunt for some Monster High Dolls but there was only a very poor selection of toys, the smallest I've seen for any Wal-Mart chain. Kid wants some video games so we head over to electronics. Glass case locked. Need key. Ok. Walk to cash registers. Two cashiers. OK. One is helping someone else, another, the MANAGER is on the phone after his customer walks away. OK. So I know he's busy, but zero eye contact? No "I'll be right with you" or "go away"? Nothing. Eyes downcast, tapping and tapping the phone with his impatient index finger. TAP TAP TAP TAP TAP TAP. I just stand there. It's now 8 past. He's on the phone saying, "Ok, OK.....OK.....ok....OK......oK.....Ok....." Zero eye contact. A few frowns. He knows I am standing there. By now, three more people appear after me. Another clerk comes to the third register and says, "can I help who is next?" so I said, "can I get someone to unlock the glass case?" then he ignores me and passes me by for the lady that came after me. She just had a question. OK. Fine. NOT fine is the fact that the guy that appeared after myself and the inquisitive lady walked over to the register and the clerks starts ringing him up! By now, I am not a happy person. I am a mad person. I remain cool and calm. So now, it's my turn...he comes out with the key and we start walking over to the glass case that holds the locked video games. No more than three steps into the aisle and another man starts asking for something so he helps the man and ignores us! WTF?!?! At this point, I walk off. My son is perplexed. I had to explain to him the economical and political aspect of not patronizing a place that treats you like bodily waste. Reading other one-star reviews for this store, I see I ran into the same problem with actual MANAGERS giving poor customer service. I am not talking about the Big Head Cheese Honcho Manager, he had gone home for the day;I found out after I stopped by customer service to vocalize my utter and complete disappointment with the uncaring, flippant and egregious acts of making customers disappear into thin air by the cashiers and yes, even a MANAGER. The assistant mgr came out to talk to me. It was the standard by-the-book, cookie cutter apology with a hint of defensiveness even though I tried my hardest to not put her on the spot or make her feel bad for her underling's poor performance. No one likes to hear unhappy pissy customers bitch but in this case I think I handled it exceptionally well...and even that didn't go over too well. Who the hell is the customer here? I was going to call the Head Honcho tomorrow but I'll just complain here. It will probably get me a cookie-cutter response anyhow...and then I'll just waste another 5 minutes of my life. You will be able to observe how kids will throw tantrums or teenagers strolling like they are all "gangsta" down the aisles Note: 9:00pm / 10:00pm is no longer ideal because there are parents who will actually bring their kids around this time in their PJs and they are running around the store yelling (the parent's too) 6) Etiquette Training: Observe people who have no manners or customer service OR better yet...you may have the opportunity of witnessing someone being handcuffed and walking out for attempting to steal. 7) Operations Mgmt / Process Improvements Training: Learn to determine the best and worst times to stock as well as maneuver around pallets of items blocking aisles. Or figure out which items should be strategically to the front instead of the back for customers to just go in and grab instead of roaming around the store with a wagon that is only carrying two small items. Yes, I'm reviewing a chain. Not because I want to up my review count, it's specifically for a small area, someone coined the Hawaiiana section. Souvenirs from Hawaii for friends and family. I don't know how the prices compare to other places but it was one stop shopping for me which eliminated the need for me to drive around all over the island looking for things. Now some of the stuff is cheesey trinkets but it is what it is. Something from Hawaii, with "Hawaii" on it. As for the other areas of the store, I can't and won't comment on them as I walked in, asked where the section was, grabbed what I wanted to get and then left. read more

In the era of excellent costumer service is king, when you fail, you fail your guests. I can understand the need for receipts when doing returns, however it's 2019, finding transactions and having items removed from the transactions should be rudimentary. Software like ADP and others should help the stores track these types of transactions. I bought a can of Bondo a few months ago for a project vehicle I'm working on. I finally hit the point when I can use the body filler, opened up the can and it's dried out. I was about to put in some fiber glass resin to soften the mix up but why waste my more expensive resin. Back to the store it goes. I also wanted to return some tubes of black rubberized sealant. They were on clearance for $1 each. They are unopened and not damaged. The goop that comes out does not dry. It must have been sitting on their shelves for so long the mixture separated. I used this stuff on a white wooden rack and let it set over night. 24 hours later I check it, it's wet, and now my freshly painted surface has basically what looks like a black turd on it. It's been 3 days since I had applied it, it's gotten more dry but it's still sticky to the touch. Lastly I bought a can of contact spray. I got to wrap about 1/4 of my subwoofer box before the propellant ran out. There is a lot of adhesive still in the can, I'd assume at least more than half. Now I have a can of useless adhesive and an incomplete speaker box. I usually go to another location but because I bought these here and I had another pick up to do it made the most sense to do everything here. I'm the past 3 months at just this location I've spent over $600 on all kinds of items. The cashier agreed to exchange a few of the items for me, however Pearl her supervisor refused. She states my item was bought a few months back and can't be refunded, even though I have a receipt for this item. Automation is on its way to replace the workforce, this among others is a testament to why. read more

I am feeling so terrible after this quick 5 minute trip to Walmart. My husband parks in handicap, I display my placard while he goes to get me a scooter. As the lady checks our receipt before exiting, the lady tells me the scooter is for store use only and we can't take it out. WHAT THE F@#%??? I'm calling corporate and the Department of Health, as well as filing a complaint citing non-compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act. First time to this location...My first question: why aren't all wal-marts set up the same way? For example...i just needed envelopes..and the office supplies was toward the back right side of the store...wouldn't it make more sense for office supplies to be near greeting cards? but whatever. after aimlessly looking in the opposite side of the store for 10 minutes I finally asked someone. Came here to get some female bare necessities and also spent time at the souvenir section. It's actually pretty cool. This is the secret of stretching your dollar especially if you are visiting from the mainland. You want to big loads of boxes of chocolate covered macadamia nuts? Go to walmart instead of buying it in Waikiki. If you want to help the economy in Waikiki, you can buy it there too. But its the best solution if you have to. Located in Kunia, it is similar to other Walmart stores. There is a security camera tower in the parking lot, probably cause of a lot of theft and issues in the lot. This is convenient if you are in the area and need to buy something. read more

Not once or twice but 3 times I've had racial encounters at this store. The workers at self checkout will literally all start watching you and then ask to see your receipt before you even get to the door then when they see that you didn't steal you get no apology and the manager does nothing when you complain to them. read more

Walmart Kunia... don't treat their workers fairly! An associate of Walmart was let go because the associate was sick and thinking of other associates and customers, stayed home, but doing so cost her, her job! What kind of business place does that to their employees!!! This place has people that don't care about their employees. Making shifts up as the schedule has already been printed. Giving no notification that you're schedule has changed, but expect you to show up to work, when your start time has moved two hours ahead of time. If any of you guys plan to get your photos developed here, DO NOT DO IT. I did an online order to have some photos developed. When I went to pick it up, CLAIRE did not want to give them to me. Why? Because the photos looked "too professional" and I needed an copyright release form. What she doesn't know was those damn photos were taken in Philippines AND it was done by a family member who does photography as a hobby. Even if you ask for a copyright release form, those who are in PI won't even know what is! Anyways, because of all that problem with the photos, she still refused to give me the photos just because she doesn't believe me. But whatever. I couldn't believe I wasted my time coming here just to get denied those photos. Ugh. For future reference, just use their self printing kiosk. Save your time as well. read more

I'm not sure why the reviews here are low... but they have a great way to organize the store here. They're always in stock and the workers are not overwhelming. They sometimes hide from me whenever I have to ask them a question. But when I get a hold of them, they're nice. Lol. I bought my Christmas supplies here and my tree for under $15! I'm currently living in kauai but was on Oahu for bkack Friday shopping this would be the 2nd review I made in 2 years. I contacted the store asked for customer service someone picked up and hung up the phone. I called back furious never mentioned to the person who answered about being hung up cause I just need my issue resolved!I continued with the conversation asking to have a receipt reprinted and if it could be emailed. She followed up with we can't promise you a reprint of the receipt and that I would have to be there in person, I told her how I live kauai and don't have plans to be back on Oahu anytime soon and how the receipt is really needed due to the fact that it was a business purchase but in able to be reimbursed I needed a receipt! I tried to give her as much info and asked to speak to a manager they placed me on hold for 30 minutes and hung up! It's frustrating cause now it's like they are screening my calls been calling back for an hour now and no one's answering I hope a manger or corporate sees this review and assist with working with there team to be better then this!!' read more

Honestly this place sucks the floor workers are lazy. Never nice people only a handful. Can never call for help these workers are so slow lazy and they act straight dumb when you ask them something. Never went there and felt good after leaving that's for sure. Bra then chronically just pretty much own the parking lot and trash the place. Better than the rest Walmart! Customer service is always so friendly even the little old lady that checks the reciepts near the garden... The drive is less than 3mins from home and there's always a reason to shop, waste time, and just hang out. There's lots of little nick-nacks that keeps the babies quiet. Not too mention the lighting; other Walmarts give me a migraine, the floors are tiled and better too. Even though the size of this Walmart isn't as big as others, all its goods are located close enough so that their is no leg cramping. The bathrooms is also cleaner than the other Walmart's as well. There should be more produce choices I think such as fruits and veggies, and more food selection. The toy area should also be well stocked; not too much choices (I guess my kids are too late to grab what they want). All in all, I would give this Walmart 2 thumbs up! read more

I usually go to this location if I'm closer to this one, as opposed to the Kapolei one-which is closer to where I live. I love Wal-Mart for their cheap prices and sometimes prefer coming here over Target because of that. I like getting groceries here because it's cheaper than getting it at other grocery stores. I probably wouldn't get eggs here though because I once did the egg in water test--the eggs that I got was on the older side :( Love that it's 24 hours and can come in anytime of day (or night) if I need to. read more

I used to enjoy going to this Walmart before Kapolei's Walmart opened. I liked that they're turning this Walmart and all the other Walmarts to a mini-Super Walmart, like in the mainland by bringing in refrigerator items and more food items. The Photo center needs a total make over. None of the wires work when you try to bring in a device, they all need to be replaced due to being chewed on or cut or simply burnt out. Most of the time when I go to that department, there's only one person behind the counter and yet there's four people behind the counter in the electronic center and no customers. So something needs to be fixed. Bathrooms are hardly ever cleaned and quickly run out of hygiene products, so I wonder if they're holding true to their hour cleaning chart that I find behind the bathroom door or wall. I love that my Bank is located at his site, because it allows me to bank and then shop! Great plus! read more

This is my favorite Walmart! I'm just so used to it. I come here 3-4 times a week. Parking isn't as good as Kapolei, especially on the weekends. Shelves are a hit and miss with stocking, just like ALL other Walmarts. Employees here are NOT very friendly. But I still come here because of the convenience and in life we get into a routine. Walmart is definitely part of our routine. They have 6 tooth brushes for only $1.11! Seriously cheap! Cheap paper plates, cheap garbage bags etc! I went into Kunia walmart looking for a specific item for a child in my life , I was amazed to find it here , not many left in stock but they did have it , the store was a little crowded and the workers a little overwhelmed and preoccupied, but never the less the women who helped me was terrific , I am sorry I cannot give her a name to go with the credit . Anyway she was terrific helped me get the alcohol that I went in to purchase and then walked with me into another department, helped me find what I needed, I was very happy already with such customer service but to my surprise. she walked with me carrying my items to the checkout where she directed me to a check stand with no one there she had me wait for a minute while she went and got my alcohol and started to scan my items and I was on my way,not to sound repetitive ,but she was awesome and I will definitely be coming to this store again read more

I would rather come to this location because majority of the time, they have everything I need or the specific thing I need. I go to other locations and they're out. This location always has stocked up shelves and LOTS of parking. I park upstairs all the time. I never park downstairs. Upstairs got lots of parking and all you do is go down the escalator to enter the store. They are open at 5am to 1am which is very convenient for me at times. They are no longer 24 hours though. read more
