Their cinema is small, but that's one of the few things that make this theatre feel personalized! I have seen a few movies from this cinema and have yet to ever been disappointed. Sometimes this theatre outplays bigger movie theatre companies! If you have children, I recommend taking them here at least once! They gave me less than I paid due to a "convenience fee" from the broken website. I'll be disputing that charge. If you like undersized theaters with uncomfortable seats and horrible service, this is most likely the place you'll want to go. I will NEVER go there again and will bet good money the only way this place survives is by dragging down other profitable locations.

An odd little theater in the middle of a very nice shopping district. I came here for a late…read moreshowing on a Saturday night. I did not see a single employee the entire night. I bought tickets from a ticket kiosk downstairs, made my way up the escalator, directed myself towards the correct theater, viewed my movie, and left. Aside from a couple other movie-goers, I did not see another single soul. Not even at the concessions stand. My date jokingly asked, "Why did we even buy our tickets? There was nobody to check!" The theater itself was clean and cozy, with only 16 seats, arranged in pairs on either side of the aisle. We arrived right on time, and sat awkwardly for an extra 15 minutes in front of a blank screen. No previews or anything began until 15 minutes after the scheduled movie time. Again, a very odd experience. Not having seen any employees before, we wondered if there was even anyone to operate the theater. The movie did eventually start, and the experience was smooth sailing from there. I will say, the movie tickets and snacks were cheaper than other, absurdly priced movie theaters. (Judging from the snack listings. I didn't buy any snacks, because again. There was nobody around?) In the end, I wouldn't dissuade anyone from coming for a movie. It was just a strange movie experience.

I'm not sure if it was the artists or the theatre itself, but the venue really had an intimate charm that really makes you feel like you're part of the performance. I feel like the stage isn't all that far away. I felt comfy during both shows with plenty of legroom (but I am short). I also don't remember my wife (who isn't short) complain about the legroom.While finding parking can present some challenges and the women's restroom line can occasionally feel somewhat longish (I mean... what woman's restroom line isn't during a well-attended production?), I really enjoy the history and nostalgia of Texas Theatre. Give it a try. For those my age and older, it really does retain that old school movie theater feel--and, for any rainbow kids like me, the Texas Theatre welcomes everyone. The sets are always well done. The chairs are comfy. They are near a jazz club, a pizza place, and a bar. Their opening night always has vegan food after the show. They also offer a complimentary beverage before the show and during intermission. The beverage is beer, wine or a soft drink such as sparkling water, or regular water. Try to go opening night. It's a great place to go with friends or even on a date.

However, I was here for a more somber score. I was here with a few hundred to learn of the latest trends in Storm Spotting and weather RADAR analysis put on by local amateur radio clubs, the City of Garland and the Ft Worth Office of the National Weather Service. Some in my group would argue that severe weather systems are works of art as in their violence can be awe inspiring sights which are sometimes captured by camera. Of course there are also many photos of destruction after really bad storms. The center has clean restrooms, space for vendors to set up tables in the lobby and room for food trucks outside. The seating is very comfortable and was able to keep me happy for the full day of information presented to help keep our communities and us spotters safe.

I took a gamble on a small, local theater that was performing the musical stage production of the…read morepopular Mel Brooks film Young Frankenstein. My husband and I love and often quote the cult classic film, so I optimistically bought tickets through RCT website for the last weekend the stage production was playing. The theater is tucked into a rarely visited strip mall. There was lots of parking. The entrance lobby was quite plain, but spacious. At the end of the hall, we picked up our tickets at will call. Around the corner was a small concession stand selling cute, small buckets of old, stale popcorn, cookies, soda as well as beer and wine. The theater area has old cinema seats on a raked platform. You could clearly see the stage since the seats were well staggered so you weren't looking at the back of someone's head. Unfortunately , the seats never seem wide enough, and you always find yourself fighting for the shared armrest. At least the bottom cushion was supportive and comfortable. I could have easily sat there through both acts and the intermission. The cast was phenomenal! They sang beautifully, danced with decent precision, strutted around in some amazing costumes while taking us on a near perfect rendition of the actual movie. Lighting and background sets were somewhat limited, but what they had worked great and didn't detract from the show. The comedy was there and they even threw in a few extra jabs at local politicians to the delight of the audience. It appears they focus on some classic theater productions throughout the year. Shows that are known and loved by everyone (White Christmas, Annie, Mamma Mia, etc.). It seems like a winning formula that is working for them. I wouldn't hesitate to come back for another date night.
