Had a near miss in parking lot from two very anxious women who say they are tribe members and were determined to get the spot in parking lot The only reason I'm giving this casino a 5 star is because of one polite and super hard working security guard who was at the front at the time around 7:00 pm and descaled the situation I know this casino has cameras so I'm sure the higher tribal members will know who he is. If it wasn't for him and other hard working non tribal members who work for this casino I would have strongly boycotted this place and gave it a No star. This place was the only place near Mammoth Lakes to have the UFC PPV fights. We made the 40 min drive to watch. The Lounge Staff and deals on food were great but they have the most annoying loud speaker announcement system that ruined the whole fight watching experience. Every couple of minutes you hear "Jeffery, table of 4 your table is ready, Jeffery table of 4 your table is ready" super loud, completely drowning out the event. As if that wasn't annoying enough by itself, they started using that same super annoying loud PA system to announce winners every 15 minutes for having their house cards installed in a machine or some crap. To recap, very happy they had the fights but they need to tweak the sound system to not destroy the event audio. read more

It's like all casinos around, you smell smoke when you walk in and smell worse when you walk out. Very small casino, few tables in the middle, machines all around to fill the space. Tip: if you have a fishing or hunting license, or a ski lift pass, sign up with the players card and you'll get 25$ free slot play. Besides the smell of smoke to which I'm not found of, the machines did pay out. Not large amounts did I win since I didn't bet much, but I did happen to walk away with 30$ more then what I started with. New face no change. Drug users lounge out front. You will walk in and see a supposedly new environment but the carpets look pretty aged, and inoperable machines scattered throughout the property. There are a couple good staff members but it's mostly a negative or "don't make eye contact" type of environment amongst the staff. The bar and bartenders do very well minus the creepy older guy in a suit that is attached to the hip of one of the young girls. Riddled with drug users that ask for money and off putting bathroom activity. they seem to have an emergency involving drugs in bathrooms all too often. The slot machine girls are lazy, negative and often don't show face until you have a jackpot. They seem to follow in the behavior of their manager who looks like a troll and acts creepy, inappropriately flirting with guests who obviously feel awkward and want to run. After winning a jackpot the attendants get upset if you don't tip for mediocre service. Security has zero verbal skill with the public and appear lost when addressing actual security concerns. Then you see old women that are apart of the local tribe lounging at machines talking negatively about the staff by name. General guest service: -100 points. Safety: -50. Food: +5. Drink: +5. Winnings: it's a casino New bathrooms +5 Older side bathrooms: -100 points, swear I witnessed a drug deal or something with a hooker. Overall 1 star because it's not an option to put no stars. Ps: pray you don't have machine issues. They take forever to show up and simply apologize by blaming it on staffing shortages. Smelling as if he bathed in cologne. This applies only to the restaurant, to which I sometimes go. Under Bob Mitton, the F&B manager, they've truly stepped up their game on both good food and terrific service. If I go, it's for either breakfast or lunch. So I can highly recommend both meal selections, particularly the chili cheese omelette and maybe the second-best burgers in town. As for the service, the wait staff is nearly always attentive to the customers, even when they're busy, as I've seen it's not merely my party being treated well. In particular, Jessica and Mariana do a fantastic job, especially when paired together on shift. Mariana is practically a wait staff professional, having had previous experience at Nicely's in Lee Vining. For an added tip, remember to bring your player's club card for a discount on breakfast, which is already quite reasonable for Bishop. read more

Fun place to stop in and have some fun when in Bishop or traveling to Mammoth Mountain. Fridays and Saturdays the restaurant has a prime rib dinner special. I have to say, a very fine meal each time we have been there. The head chef comes out from the back, and asks several tables if they like their meal. Not only did I lose 12 hands in a row at blackjack, but when I ordered a beer that I assumed would be (gratis), it was not , I was told I had to pay for it in ADVANCE ! I have been all over this country in 30 + states and I have NEVER had to pay for a drink in advance. The 5 stars is for the food. I'm not a gambler so didn't do anything associated to the slots and tables. I came here with a big appetite... The taco salad soup was nice and hot and fresh tasting . The hot wings were hot and crispy and not salty which was great... It came with buffalo sauce and ranch . My entree was the country fried steak with mashed potatoes and gravy and veggies.... The steak was perfect, so tender. But I had to scrape off some of the gravy due to its saltiness. The service was quick. We came when it was slow... So the server was quite attentive. It is not a long standing tradition for me to stop and throw away money at the Double-P (Paiute Palace) in Smack My Bishop but considering how many times I have made the haul from LA to Mammoth I will admit that I have visited this place more than a handful of times for S+G's. On my last trip up my friends had the itch to gamble, after all, it was a bachelor party weekend. The plan was to walk in, put $500 on one hand of black jack and walk out. Great plan since it wasn't my money! One problem, the DubP has a $100 limit on their black jack table, so the hit & run was reduced to the hit, hit, stay. Good news is the guy that chose to play walked away with $1200 on the way up and $1200 on the way back home...this caused my friend to yell...THEY'RE GIVING AWAY MONEY AT THE PAIUTE PALACE...as we walked out the door. They have a fair amount of slots, tables, and their bathrooms are extremely nice so if you get the itch, pull over and test your luck (err skill). read more

Paiute Palace Casino has fast become a favorite haunt of mine when I visit Bishop. I didn't expect much when I first saw the casino from the outside (it's pretty small), but the layout inside is really nice. There are about 8 tables in the center of the casino when you walk in (the number in use depends on demand), which are surrounded by a wide variety of slot machines. I was impressed with the variety of games available. I've been there several times now and have had no problems with access to the games that I like to play. I've been pretty happy with the payout ratio - it seems to me to be one of the best in the state, as the amount of money I typically allocate to play with when I visit allows me to play longer than at most other California Indian Gaming Casinos (although still not as good as Nevada casinos). There is a small restaurant in the back corner that I've eaten at once. The food was generally good - nothing to complain about but not great either. My cousins and I went here after boarding for 4 straight days and needed a day off. I heard gin & giving Native American's hundreds of your dollars reduces the amount of lactic acid in one's legs.
