New Chinese place in town. Sad to see Diamond Trio go, they had a decent pizza and cheap slices. Got my usual old Chinese standards for comparison, and they were all good. Scallion Pancake - nice, crispy, not too oily, something a little spicy. Spring Roll - predictable and crunchy, filled with veggies. General Tso Tofu - a large portion, with more than usual broccoli to protein ratio (i hate when i get 15 pieces of the tso and 4 broccoli). Lo mein was also good. Ordered carry out: 1) Kung Pau Chicken Combo: way too many carrots; way too much celery; very little chicken. Well spiced and tasty, but nearly vegetarian; 2) Boneless Spare Rib Combo: ribs were dry, a bit leathery (stiff and very chewy) punctuated by chunks of rubbery fat; the sides of pork fried rice were standard (as at any Chinese restaurant) and the egg rolls were OK if a bit confused with the shrimp and pork combination. I have discovered since my first review a few changes I'd like to make. Each restaurant has its own good snd needs improvement. Wang's Egg Fo Yang is the best! Sun Moon pork fried rice is the best! Both places have excellent crab Rangoon but I prefer Sun Moon's, the triangular shape of the rangoon holds more filling. Although one night there was only a hint of what should have been there. Still looking for the better place for moo shoo. I suspect it will be Wang's as SM was a such a mess of wet soggy ? , I tossed it all out. Very disappointing. Soups. A good place, better than your average American Chinese. I've gotten the following from here, all in takeout form: curry chicken, sesame chicken, General Tso's chicken, kung pao chicken, ginger chicken with string beans, chicken chop suey, and pork lo mein. The takeout meals are full-featured, including fried wonton strips, the standard mustard and soy sauce, a container of duck sauce, and of course a fortune cookie, all very well-packaged. Some dishes are, I think, done better than others - the curry chicken, sesame chicken, and ginger chicken with string beans were impressive, with tasty sauces and good cuts of chicken; the other items were rather less so, at least to me. There was a touch of unwelcome gristle and bone in my General Tso, the chop suey wasn't all that flavorful, and the lo mein was, well, a bit gross (and I love lo mein). I'll be sticking to what they do well, once I've felt out their menu and know all of what that is, because what they do well is definitely worth the extra dime or quarter you might pay compared to another Chinese place. read more

This food is very good. The portions are very large. The lunch specials are awesome, you get entrée, rice, eggroll, broccoli, and noodles for 6 bucks or less. This isnt like a generic tasting chinese restaurant, they have distinctive taste. It also has a full bar. Also the staff is very friendly and understand english well. Wang has become our #1 Chinese take-out spot in the area. Their food is consistently good, the people are nice and the location is super convenient. Since I can't eat wheat (and therefore soy sauce is a no-go), I usually order the chicken or shrimp with vegetables and no sauce. The variety of veggies is much more interesting than a lot of other restaurants of this kind. My husband has gotten a variety of different stuff, but he usually settles on the General Tso's chicken or tofu because he likes it so much. We've also eaten dinner there (although it was quite a while ago) and the experience was very nice. Same great service as take-out and they brought tea and crispy noodles to our table. I stopped by here on the basis of Yelp reviews. Ordered about $40 in take out. All of it was excellent. From perfect crab rangoons, to a deliciously sweet mango chicken... Beef and broccoli.. Pork dumplings, pork lo mein, and complimentary pork fried rice and egg roll. The gentleman who took my order chatted with me while I waited (about 15 min) and he was really nice and clearly prioritized my satisfaction. I don't know if it was meant as a courtesy but when he rang my credit card he handed me the receipt after crossing out the tip section. I thought that was exceptionally considerate.. Eliminating a customer's wondering about that! It's conveniently located, clean, classy dining area (not excessively so). read more

Oh Wang, how much you disappointed me... I had just moved back to Cromwell after living out of state for 5 or so years, and really was looking forward to a good Chinese Food place because the one I had formally gone to had moved. I ordered Wang, and to be honest - the food wasn't bad at all, and I would consider going back - except for the fact that halfway through my meal, I started chewing on something I couldn't swallow (Exhibit A below) - keep in mind, nothing that I had ordered had come with saran wrap on it. This is my first time tryinG this place. For 2 we ordered an egg roll, boneless pork spareribs and chicken Pad Thai. The egg roll was good. Nice size and seasoned well. The Pad Thai was good. Enough spice without going over the top. A nice size portion with plenty of chicken. The only thing I would change would be the size of the chicken. I prefer mine cut smaller. The worst part of the meal was the boneless pork spareribs. No extra sauce on them and way over cooked. Very dry and i couldn't eat them. I threw them away. I will try them again, and most likely try the same things again. If the boneless pork spareribs are overcooked, I will have to say something. They would have scored higher if the pork spareribs ribs were not so dry. read more

I'm so disappointed... I hate to do this because I really liked this place and I'm not sure what happened. I was telling everyone I knew that lived in the area to give them a try and that I was impressed and have been craving to come back for more. Unfortunately, it was so so bad.... I ordered my usual TSO's and it first had a funny smell and I thought maybe it's just me.... nope! I gave it a try anyways and it had a funny taste/texture as well.... very chewy.. I was so upset and so grossed out that I could not eat a bite more and tossed it in the trash. Ruined my appetite for Chinese really. This was a recommendation from the hotel was staying at for a business trip. I went for lunch then ate their every day of my trip. The restaurant is old world classic family style. Horrible. Do not eat the shrimp here. My girlfriend ordered the shrimp in lobster sauce dinner. They do not clean the shrimp fully. I wish we had taken a picture. This place used to be my favorite Chinese restaurant, but not any longer. After telling and showing the waiter the disgusting shrimp he notified the owner. The owner came to the table and apologized and offered ice cream as an apologetic gesture. Really?? Wang is the new place in town and while they haven't done much marketing, I haven't seen many coupons, and I don't even think they do delivery...I have a feeling they're going to be highly successful because the word is out! Their prices are quite reasonable and everything we have tried has been AMAZING! I've got all my friends hooked already. One of them ate there 3 times in one weekend! I personally haven't dined in yet (only takeout) but I see they have a full bar and a nice, new, clean dining room. They spent a lot of time renovating this place. I rarely give 5 stars but I can't help but grace this little place with five jewels in its crown. I was super skeptical when it first opened because it just looks like your run of the mill, ho hum Chinese place from the road. Thankfully my boss loves this place and we frequent it for staff lunches. The table cloths are a nice touch and hello crunchy dealies waiting for you as you arrive. (Only thing is last summer with the humidity they were a little stale but they are more than willing to whip up a fresh bowl if you ask). Warning - you WILL fill up on these upon arrival. Usually I go for lunch because its a killer deal - $8 for soup/eggroll and an entree. I always get the Broccoli in Garlic Sauce bc the broccoli is nice and crunchy. Take out is fast - I hardly ever call ahead because it's that fast. And honestly - the take out is all about the 'experience' still! I feel like if they could put a white table cloth in your bag to take home, they would! Example: I order Broccoli with Garlic Sauce. I expect tin of food + box of rice. No. It comes with a tiny bag of crunchies (OH ya...), dipping sauce, chop sticks, fortune cookie and a tea bag! Just like what you'd have if you were eating there! I love thoughtfulness like that! Well, yuck. That's what I have to say about my food. I ordered Mongolian Beef, Chicken Fried Rice & a Spring Roll- where do I start? Okay, the Mongolian Beef, zero flavor. It was just a bunch of scallions and very tough meat. Where's the sauce? Where is the love? The chicken friend rice lacked flavor as well, the one packet of soy sauce couldn't even doctor it up. It also lacked veggies. Why no veggies, Wang? Come on! The spring rolls were stuffed with some very questionable stuffings. I didn't know if it was meat, vegetables, or an old sock. Wow... Renovated, stand-alone building in a great area. I had high hopes just by looking at the new sign and interior decor and WHOA DAMNN! It's probably the BEST Chinese food that I've every had. I had the (traditional) General Tso's Chicken comb with veggie fried rice and was impressed. Although the dinner was kind of pricey ($10), but it came with fried noodles w/ duck sauce, a tea bag (to go), an egg roll, and a HUGE portion LARGE marinated chicken with rice. The individual chicken pieces are very large and are so tender, you can break apart with a fork. Perfect seasoning sauce, (with hot peppers and brocolli mixed in). The veggie fried rice was seasoned to perfection with fresh vegetables sliced and mixed in (however, there were more onions than I would like). My girlfried had the Chicken & Broccoli combo and loved it. We ordered our food to go, however the interior is real nice and they have a full bar (beer, wine, & liquour). This weekend I ordered take out from Wang. I have had Wang Chinese food lots of times in the past in the past, but I cant say I was always satisfied. The first few times that I had ordered out from them I was satisfied because their food tasted pretty good. But after a while the food started to taste bland . Some days the food would be alright but on some occasions the food tasted weird. It was like they changed cooks every months. It was suggested to me by a fellow Yelper that I visit. She was right. What a nice find. It is about 1 minute off Route 91 in Cromwell. A well laid out small restaurant where the owners take pride in their operation. Wang seems clean.. the owner was cheerful, and the food was excellent. I ordered the General Tso's Chicken and it was just the way I like it. I have uploaded an image of the meal. Cloth tablecloths, the soup was excellent and I had my own pot of tea. We're new to Cromwell and wanted to try to find a good takeout Chinese place. Although Wang's has a lot of good points about it, we will probably branch out and keep trying other places too. First, the pros. The portion sizes were huge--I'd almost recommend splitting one combo meal between two people, especially if you don't want to wind up with tons of leftovers. Secondly, everything was nice and hot and came with extra stuff I wasn't expecting (like the tea and wonton noodles). The food was hit or miss. I liked the egg roll and sesame chicken. I didn't like the pork fried rice (dry) or the kung pao chicken (vegetables were fine, but the chicken had a texture that I found off putting). From earlier reviews, it seems like there are a few dishes they do really well and it would be best to stick with those. Overall, solid for what it is but I don't think it's the highest quality Chinese restaurant around. read more

Looking for good Chinese, go here. So much food! My family and I celebrated Father's Day here with lunch. When we walked in, my dad recognized a man behind the counter. The folks that used to own Ming's on the Berlin Turnpike in Newington now own this place. They've been making great food in CT for years. We all got combo meals. The food was great and there was plenty of it. Most of us ended up bring home take home bags because there was too much to eat in one sitting. The wait staff was courteous and very accommodating when we asked for a variety of sauces, more tea, more water... The restaurant is very clean. The decor is simple, but welcoming. Woohoo! I have another place to take my family to! Wang is a nice, simplistic, clean, fresh restaurant. It is clear that they care about the upkeep of their place. The inside has a lot of seating for a small place but it somehow works. I came here with 6 others and there was no trouble adding another table and chairs to accommodate all of us. Our server was very sweet and made us feel like valued customers. Everyone was satisfied with their meals. I ordered the shrimp and cashew nut included with a bowl of rice on the side. Have returned here many times since my initial visit. Oddly enough, i've never sampled the bar yet, probably because we mostly come for lunch. The prices at lunch are far better than dinner for the same quality & portion of food. Service is always attentive and quick. All I could want in a restaurant: nice people, good food, they deliver, priced right. I just moved to Cromwell and one of my first missions was to find a good Chinese place to pick up lunch on weekdays. I've tried a couple places in town and Wang is the best. My wife and I have order from them at least once a week or the last month and a half - I've dined there once, ha delivery twice, but mostly picked up orders. Food: we've tried a number of dishes and its been all good. I always test places with sweet and sour dishes - it's such a popular dish that I notice its easy or restaurants to get lazy with it. At Wang they fry therapy right so it's not greasy, and its crispy on the outside and fluffy almost creamy in the inside. Plus they pack the sauce and meat separately so it doesn't get soggy before you eat. Delicious. Other highlights are the sesame chicken, chicken with green beans, and their soups. The ONLY reason they don't get 5 stars is because meat dishes (sweet and sour, sesame, general tso) don't come with much vegetables - I'd even take less meat if it meant more veggies. Service: the folks at Wang were nice. Food is always ready promptly. Once they forgot to put the bowl of sauce in my pickup order, so I gave them a call and went back for it - they gave me a free appetizer to say sorry. How cool is that? Once I ordered for a group that included my vegetarian boss and they made vegetarian substitutions (including a veggie eggroll) for him with zero complaint. And they deliver! I can be as lazy and possible and still get good Chinese food. Price: It's right where it should be. $6-7 for a whole lunch: one item, your choice of three kinds of rice (regular, brown, fried), AND your choice of 3 kinds of soup (hot and sour, wonton, egg drop - that they are HUGE bowls of soup) or eggroll. Awesome. You will have your fill and then some. You can order the combination lunches for dinner as well. So, they are worth giving a shot. read more
