All I could want in a restaurant: nice people, good food, they deliver, priced right. I just moved to Cromwell and one of my first missions was to find a good Chinese place to pick up lunch on weekdays. I've tried a couple places in town and Wang is the best. My wife and I have order from them at least once a week or the last month and a half - I've dined there once, ha delivery twice, but mostly picked up orders. Food: we've tried a number of dishes and its been all good. I always test places with sweet and sour dishes - it's such a popular dish that I notice its easy or restaurants to get lazy with it. At Wang they fry therapy right so it's not greasy, and its crispy on the outside and fluffy almost creamy in the inside. Plus they pack the sauce and meat separately so it doesn't get soggy before you eat. Delicious. Other highlights are the sesame chicken, chicken with green beans, and their soups. The ONLY reason they don't get 5 stars is because meat dishes (sweet and sour, sesame, general tso) don't come with much vegetables - I'd even take less meat if it meant more veggies. Service: the folks at Wang were nice. Food is always ready promptly. Once they forgot to put the bowl of sauce in my pickup order, so I gave them a call and went back for it - they gave me a free appetizer to say sorry. How cool is that? Once I ordered for a group that included my vegetarian boss and they made vegetarian substitutions (including a veggie eggroll) for him with zero complaint. And they deliver! I can be as lazy and possible and still get good Chinese food. Price: It's right where it should be. $6-7 for a whole lunch: one item, your choice of three kinds of rice (regular, brown, fried), AND your choice of 3 kinds of soup (hot and sour, wonton, egg drop - that they are HUGE bowls of soup) or eggroll. Awesome. You will have your fill and then some. You can order the combination lunches for dinner as well. So, they are worth giving a shot. read more

Trash.... they used to be good but now they are just reheating old food... twice in the last 30 days I've gone and gotten food that's like warm in parts cold in the other and hot in some... it's Chinese they cook it in a wok!!! How hard is it to serve it all hot?! Then the owner was the worst blaming the server for letting it sit instead of just saying it was not fresh. Have eaten here several times and always enjoy it with plenty of leftovers for extra meals. Tonight they showed great service and caring for their customers. I accidentally ordered the wrong meal (should have said what I wanted with the number) and it was exchanged with no questions asked. My husband tried something new and ended up not liking it. We are not complainers especially when it is our fault but the manager (or owner) had stopped by and asked my husband about his meal and wanted to give him something in place of it but my husband was not interested. Well, he took my son's meal out back to be boxed up and came out with a complete new dinner for us to take home as a replacement plus brought us free ice cream. He explained that he wanted us to be happy whether it was our fault or theirs. We will definitely be going back. read more

Disappointed in Wang, once again. Previously my take out orders were always missing something or incorrect order. I ordered Wangs out again only because my favorite take out Moon Star closed on Sundays. My take out today from Wangs was as follows: General Tsao chicken was dry lacking flavor, Mei Fun House special noodles were dry chicken was dry and no pork all tasted like scraps from other orders, Shrimp Toast was cut in quarters and the smallest I have ever had. Fried pork dumplings were "okay". Once I got home I was over charged based on menu prices, received no itemized receipt to determine why. Note to self: do not order Chinese take out on Sundays when Moon Star closed. read more

The chicken pad Thai from here is to D I E for. SO good. My go-to Thai dish is Drunken Noodles but this pad Thai dish is delicious.

Tonight we had delivery food from Wang's in Cromwell. This delivery included three small bowls of egg drop soup. Two out of three containers had good sized black slimy mold attached to several of the eggs. I called the restaurant to let them know and the women who answered the phone said "sometimes that happens and we pick it out." I responded to how can you possibly admit and justify this practice with your food. I explained we'd will not be ordering every again and she said sorry. I explained that soup was almost served to my ninety year old mother and hers was one of them with the mold. They didn't even offer to cancel the charges. Shame on Wangs! You have lost a regular cutomer. UPDATE: Ty the owner called me to explain the black slime and offered a credit if we order again. Not sure we will, but I do appreciate his effort. A good friend highly praised and suggested I try Wang's in Cromwell. I brought my family and our experience there exceeded our expectations! Everything we had tasted great! Portions were generous and the quality of food was spot on - one of our dishes, aromatic shrimp (JUMBO shrimp tossed in a light asian cream sauce with toasted candied walnuts, served with fresh steamed broccoli ) was the most delicious and might i add, pleasantly arranged dish i ever had in a chinese restaurant. Absolutley loved the Hot & Sour soup! We also ordered some of our usual staples to compare how Wang's did. Needless to say, Wang's came out on top! Definately in taste and in price. The presentation of the other dishes were pretty standard compared to other chinese restaurants. The ambience was great - soft lighting, traditional music, and new! Very clean, very nice. Wang is our go to Chinese take out restaurant. The first time we ever ordered I ordered one egg roll and they brought a second so the second person wouldn't feel left out! Delivery orders are always delivered very quickly and come with fried noodles, tea bags, and, of course, fortune cookies. The portion sizes are generous and their food us consistently delicious. We regularly order the General Tsos, Chicken and Broccoli, Sesame Chicken, and Orange Chicken and they are all delicious. There are a few other Chinese restaurants in the area, including one literally around the corner, but we love this one so much we don't even want to try the others. read more

First time at Wang's and was excited to try it out, the reviews seemed good and a friend from work said they go there often for take out. My wife and I love those crispy noodles with the duck sauce and spicy mustard and they were all on the table when we arrived. I ordered a Long Island Iced Tea to start off the night, it was ok and it, but took like 15 minutes to show up. At that point, I was mostly done with the app trio and soup that came with our combo dinner. The app trio were breaded and fried chicken finger, battered shrimp, and an egg roll, the egg roll was the best out of the three. I also had the wonton soup, which I thought was really good. On to dinner, I ordered the drunken lemon chicken, but received sweet and sour chicken I believe? It came with an orange sauce and tasted nothing like lemon. The chicken was ok, it had a lot of breading on it, too much for my liking, but flavor was still decent. I also had pork fried rice as a side, it was pretty good, not the best I've ever had though. For dessert I had a bowl of their coconut ice cream, which I thought was pretty good. During dinner I ordered another drink and it showed up a few minutes before our dessert came, so they definitely have to work on their drink expedition. I stopped at Wang Chinese Restaurant once for lunch and was very favorably impressed. Last week I ordered take out - shrimp fried rice, beef lo mein, and chicken with cashews with a side of brown rice. The brown rice, which was also used in the fried rice, was a smaller grained variety than I have seen before, and it was very good. At first taste, I thought the food was bland, but then a whole lot of subtle, blended flavors hit my taste buds. It was delicious! It took me six or seven days to finish it all, having it for supper each night. I will do this again soon. This place was great. The waitstaff was very attentive, even on a busy Friday evening. Free hot tea at the table and ice cream for dessert. They give you a ton of food, enough to eat for several days. They even have healthy offerings. We've had the broccoli chicken, shrimp & broccoli, general tsos and sesame chicken. My husband loves the sesame chicken because it isn't as fried as other Chinese food places make it. Only downside is that they charge for each soda (who does that anymore?). We'll be back but sticking to water and hot tea. We also order take-out from here and they give you an extraordinary amount of food! I had takeout for the first time today. I had chicken and shrimp combo, and asked them to make it spicy. It was very good. Could have used a few more shrimp. Fried rice was good. Very few pieces of pork fat. Wonton soup tasted good but the wontons were a too mushy for my taste. Didn't finish. Really didn't have to because the portions of combo and rice were plenty. Fried noodles for the soup were stale. Will go again to give them another try. read more

Terrible. I ordered pork fried rice, beef teriyaki sticks and crab Rangoon. The fried rice was so dry I could barely swallow it, also it had no flavor. The beef sticks were so overdone and tough i had to throw them out. Like someone said in the comments they must be reheating old food. Crab Rangoon was decent. The food was very good; large portions and tasty, you get tea at your table with the meals. The place is nice, but still affordable; we had lunch (mango chicken for me) and everything was good, had enough to bring home and eat a second time. After looking for delivery places in Cromwell, I came across Wang's and the reviews were very positive. This is the first time I ordered and I must say I was not disappointed. They delivered on time. The woman taking my order over the phone was very friendly and patient while I searched their menu. I ordered beef lo mein, chicken wings, pork fried rice, chicken noodle soup, egg roll, and shrimp in garlic sauce. The portion sizes were well worth the price. Checked this place out since Yelp mostly had positive reviews. I will be traveling to this area for work and I was pretty excited for a potential go to spot away from home. So. Disappointed. To the point of confused sadness. Walked in to a fairly empty restaurant on a Monday night. Their carry out seemed to keep them busy. Upon seating, they served hot tea and had fried wonton with sweet sour sauce on the table. I humorously thought, the tortilla chips of Chinese restaurant. Tried their dinner package which included choice of soup, 3 piece appetizer, entree and dessert. The egg drop soup was a good with a balance of broth and egg. What I thought was a good start seemed to be the highest point of dinner and hence the downward spiral of confusion. The appetizers consisted of what they called gold wing which was a fried chicken nugget, fried shrimp and fried pork dumpling. I liked the chicken nugget and since I am not fan of too much fried food, I didn't think much of the rest. I ordered moo goo gai pan, make it spicy. This is where I get confused. There was a foul smell and taste that seem like the ingredients absorbed the smells and flavor of whatever was in their cooler. Furthermore they just pan tossed the red chilli sauce which could have been just red flakes. There was no flavor let alone "heat" to the dish. I was expecting actual Chinese dried red peppers along with the rich oyster sauce with labyrinth of water chestnuts, broccoli, snow peas, mushrooms mingled in wok cooked chicken. All I found was cubed chicken, mushrooms and water chestnuts in a grey sauce and red speckled flakes. Onto dessert. I was over it. I chose the pineapple pieces over their sorbet trying not to think of their freezer. The pineapple came from a can, flavorless in the sugar water. Perhaps the tea burnt my tongue too soon? I doubt it. The server was attentive and prompt. I reread the reviews and I wonder if they are good at few things and if I had stuck to that. The lackluster of a dinner has left me empty and I doubt I'll be back. read more

Not a bad place. I've been here about 5 or 6 times and we've been happy each time. We usually dine in and they've been able to accommodate our large party each time. Parking is a bit tight but this restaurant isn't very large so it's a little cozy. Overall the food is alright but the service is great. I recommend the combo platters at the back of the menu and the scallop and shrimp dishes. They have a nice little drink menu and a small bar. There is a small separate dining area for small private gatherings. Maybe this place will stick as this location has had a lot of turnover with different restaurants through the years. read more

Being the new Chinese place in town my girlfriend and I decided to give it a shot since we aren't thrilled with any of the other Chinese choices in the area. We had a buy 1 get 1 50% off entree coupon so that was nice. They have a small seating area which seems ok..but we opted for takeout. I had the sweet and sour chicken with pork fried rice and egg roll, and she had the general tso's. The rice was nice and fresh, and egg rolls standard. The sauce of the general tso's was a bit thin/watery but not bad. It got 4/5 stars in my book as I felt the prices were a bit steep for Chinese. We LOVE Wang's Restaurant. My husband and I went there a day before they opened. The lovely young woman gave us a glass (which we treasure!) when she saw our disappointment. We've been back six or seven times and each time has been wonderful. The wait staff is courteous and attentive. The food is very well prepared. It's quiet and peaceful inside even though Wang's is on a busy street. We always order more than we can eat - we want the leftovers! The pricing is extremely reasonable. We just ate there yesterday for the fifth or sixth time. Count the stars....One, Two, Three, Four & Five BIG Stars for Wang's!!!!! read more

I was not impressed with Wang. We ordered takeout so perhaps the dine-in experience would be different. We ordered General Tsao's which we found to be overly breaded and mushy. The sauce was okay and had very good spice. We also had beef & broccoli which was utterly tasteless which is the same as the chicken lo me. The noodles for the lo mein were very well cooked which was the highlight of our meal. the eggrolls were not hot and didn't have much in them if you ask me. The wait time was an hour and twenty min when told a half hour, and staff was not offering anything, even water for the excessive wait time. Positive unexpected moment of the day: On my way home today I stopped at Wang´s Chinese in Cromwell. I have gotten food there for the last two years living in this cute town knowing only that a family ran it and their children worked there and were active the community that´s all I knew except that I always felt like¨family" when there. Today I sat and waited for my to go order and witnessed an elder gentleman and a middle aged woman walk in one right after the other, I only looked up when I heard the man behind the register ask the elder gentlemen if he wanted him to reheat the dinner as it is only barely warm now. The older gentlemen said no, that´s fine I was held up and I´m late, but I will be reheating it anyway as I have other things left to do first, but he just added these last few words that made me look up ¨but how kind of you to ask" OK, sweet moment, but it goes on.. the man behind the register says ¨and thank you for opening and holding the door for the lady sir¨ to which the gentleman replied ¨Chivalry is not dead at least not for us old timers¨. Witnessing two gentlemen being respectful and kind to one another for no reason ~~~~~~WOW! I mentioned to him as he walked out the door, that all woman appreciate a gentlemen, at any age, and how sad that manners seem to be a lost art these days.......... We went there yesterday for the super cheap weekday lunch. We are in town for a convention and were so impressed. The service was impeccable and the restaurant was really clean and simply decorated. The food was plentiful and most importantly, quite good for local Chinese. The dishes use lots of veggies, white meat chicken, and were less greasy than usual. I asked for mine extra spicy and it was pretty good for the boonies. The fried rice had real pieces of pork and egg and wasn't greasy. My egg roll was a bit on the greasy side but piping hot. The portions were the perfect size. It was so good we are going back for dinner tonight! If only this place was in our town! Update: We did go back for dinner and it was still really good, but a little pricier. Also, I ordered a beef dish and they wouldn't make it not deep fried (I wanted it stir fried instead. I've had no problem with this at other places). It was still really tasty, but chewy. I would definitely go back if I was in town, but I would know not to ask for something prepared differently. read more

My husband and I are so glad we found this place. The food was superb and the owners were so nice. We are used to buffet style chinese (we are truckers and not from this area) but were quite impressed. We will definitely come back next time we get up this way. This is the finest Chinese around; It has generous portions and not just greasy over breaded garbage. The staff is friendly, well spoken and polite. We always do to go as most people do however, the restaurant always has people dining and is very clean and well kept. It's not the cheapest however, you get what you pay for and it's very much worth the extra few bucks. read more

We got general tso chicken and vegetable lo main, we also got crab rangoons and in general it was below average. The lo main had a weird taste and the crab rangoons were terrible but the general tso was pretty good. Not great but good. We'll continue to look for another Chinese place. read more
