Ordered through door dash the driver waited over 90 minutes for our food, we waited over 2 hours. tried calling restaurant and they wouldn't answer phone and once we got through no concern with how long we waited. Take out food is always solid from Wangs palace our go to for teriyaki beef and sesame chicken. Golden fingers are kind of expensive for only 5 on the appetizer menu so we get the sweet and sour chicken and then don't use the sauce. Will order again for sure! read more

A big salute for Wang Palace's General Tsou's combination dinner with pork fried rice, an egg roll and hot and sour soup. I was working in the area and ordered takeout for lunch. My order was ready on time and service was friendly. I believe Wang Palace is only doing takeout right now, although I have eaten there in the past and the dining area is reasonably nice. Wang's General Tsou's was above average for a Chinese restaurant geared towards broad tastes. The chicken was meaty, well-breaded and had the right texture. The sauce had that classic sweet hot flavor. The pork fried rice was also above average. It was dotted with larger pieces of roast pork and egg than I normally see. The fried rice was also my preferred color for Chinese restaurants -- tan rather than yellow. It had good flavor and good texture. The egg roll was about average. It had good outer texture and color, but the filling fixture was just OK for me. The hot and sour soup was also about average. Overall, my General Tsou's chicken meal was above average and I would order it again. This has been our go to place for takeout for work lunches, etc. and take out when I am no mood to cook after long work days. It usually takes less than 30-45 minutes for our order to be ready which is also a plus when ordering take out. I'm very glad I did. First I would like everyone to know it is still TAKE OUT ONLY. The prices here are very fair. I tried a dinner combination plate, I got the sesame chicken which was yummy, it came with fried rice also tasty, I got the hot and sour soup, which was good but average. Then is also comes with an egg roll. The egg roll was a little too greasy for me, so nothing special there. I loved the chicken and fried rice though, I was really good, I would definitely order it again. After eating, it didn't make me feel gross or bloated. It even tasted good reheated the next day for lunch. I definitely recommend getting some take out from this place! I will be back! read more

This is our go-to Chinese take out place. Recently I tried the shrimp in lobster sauce entrée that comes with fried rice, soup and egg roll. We usually order 2 orders of golden fingers. One point to make was the 'plain rice' was doused in soy sauce which confused our 3 year old. My husband got the sesame chicken and it was well received. One of those chinese take-out restaurants that isn't super small, doesn't have make shift tables for you to sit incase you last resort dine in and no view of the questionably sanitary kitchens behind the counter. In other words, they actually deserve the title of an Americanized Chinese restaurant! Not just take out! The interior is clean and modern. The staff is super friendly and each time I came in, there was actually a decent amount of people dining in! Well they have some work to do in the kitchen. The wontons in the wonton soup have such little meat inside that I almost couldn't taste it and it really emphasized how thickly layered the wonton was. It was almost like straight thick wontom noodle. The broccoli in my sesame chicken also tasted a little off. But other than that, there isn't much to complain about. Perspective: Almost everything can be made gluten free. Being able to eat Chinese food is generally impossible, except for at Wang's Palace. We called for take out early in the evening during the week. The person on the phone was very friendly and knowledgeable. He quickly took our order. When my husband arrived, the person that took our order asked him if he had a take out menu. My husband said no, and the person proceeded to mark up a menu with everything that was available to be made gluten free. This is really amazing! It's most of the menu. We had the veggie dumplings, the lo mein (rice noodles), Kung pao shrimp, and moo goo gai pan. It was all very good. I was especially pleased to have lo mein and dumplings without having to make them myself, most restaurants are not able to accommodate these items to be gluten free. The price was also good, all of these items for less than $50. We will definitely return to Wang's Palace, and try some new dishes! read more

Went to this place because everywhere else was closed. They were closing in 25 min. And i ordered general tso chicken. I asked them to make the chicken crispy because i don't like when its all mushy. I get home and take 1 bite and it taste like 10 day old burnt deep frier oil. It even smelled uo my entire apartment of a nasty burnt frier smell. It was so absolutely disgusting and fhe i side of the chiclen was dark brown. I ordered the combination and pork fried rice had no taste whatsoever. Ive had steamed white rice that had more flavor and the pork pieces in the rice were so nasty is looked like pieces of dark chocolate. The food was completely uneatable and i am so surprised this place is in business and has so many good reviews. Ive had was better Chinese at the mall fast food mall Chinese spots. I literally spent $16 on a half a bite of dry burn chicken that taste like dirty oil crom a grease trap and 1 bite of whatever the hell you wanna call that rice. Over the years we have ordered numerous times at Wang Palace in Rocky Hill, lately the food has not been as good quality as in the past years. Most recently we ordered two entrees of broccoli with garlic sauce, for takeout... when we got home the broccoli was way overcooked soft, and mushy drenched in garlic sauce, there was more sauce than there was broccoli. Both orders went in the garbage, We live 30 minutes away, and I was not about to drive back. We called the restaurant and explained to them the situation and the person on the phone said they would pass the information on to the manager. I just ordered takeout from this restaurant for the first time since they moved out of Glastonbury. The quality is the same or better on all the dishes we tried. I was really happy that they were able the make so many items gluten-free. It's a great option for Chinese food for anyone with celiac. The gluten free sesame chicken was really good, and I thought it was better than the regular version I had last time. I'll be honest, the regular eggrolls and dumplings are better than the gluten free versions, but I think that's just the nature of the items and not a fault of the restaurant. We will definitely order again. Thank you to all the reviewers before me who let me know that this restaurant does a good job with gluten free food! Careful ordering through Yelp/Grubhub. Some of the items that are marked as able to be made gluten free are inaccurate. Another safe spot to eat. Had lunch today to celebrate someone's birthday. Sat in a booth far removed from any other diners. Started with pour of white zinfandel and an order of Scallion Pancake. This rendering was fresh, hot and not all greasy. Great sauce also. She ordered the luncheon Chicken with Cashews with Pork Fried Rice and an Egg Roll. Delicious and plenty to take home also. I LOVE this place! I've ordered once before the doom of COVID-19 and 3x since. All visits have been consistently delicious! Their egg rolls are so fresh, crispy on the outside, full of veggies on the inside. My favorite is their sweet and sour chicken. The crispy batter and the tender chicken is awesome on their own, but the sweet & sour sauce is authentic and lip smacking good! But here's why the review at this moment. During this gloomy, unapologetic time, it's nice to still be able to "eat out." You call and order, go in to pay. I've asked them sign my credit card receipt for me so I don't have to touch more than necessary. Their combo meal pricing is good until 3pm. My trick is to order their combo meal-about $7.50, eat half for lunch and the other half for dinner. That's if you can have enough will power to wait . Happy eating! read more

When I lived in East Hartford (in my pre-Yelp days), Wang Palace was my go to for Chinese take out. There is also a nice dining room, so you can dine in as well. When you get take out, there is a small bar area where you can wait if your food isn't ready, or if you order onsite. I would sometimes order when I got there, and enjoy a glass of wine. They would always give me some crispy noodles and duck sauce - my favorite!! Pro tip: you can order the wide noodles and homemade duck sauce for take out, for a small upcharge, totally worth it! This is what I miss most about Wang Palace - now that I live in Middletown, my take out place does not have this option. My husband and I recently dined in - I had not been to Wang Palace in at least 8 years. It was still just as good. We were greeted with my favorite crispy noodles! We ordered off the lunch menu - perfect portions and great prices. My lunch (chicken with garlic sauce) came with fried rice and an egg roll, but I also added hot and sour soup. Their hot and sour soup is the gold standard - I have never had it as good anywhere else. My only complaint was that even though I requested extra spicy, my entree was not spicy at all. My husband ordered Ta-chien chicken, which came with soup (he got wonton soup) and white rice, he also added on an egg roll. We got so much food for only $21...Along with friendly and fast service. Still trying to figure out what that means...#languagebarrier In the meantime, I'll describe the experience of eating in, as we have never taken out here. The staff greets you immediately, and we have never had trouble getting a table. The place is clean and neat and comfortable, with proper table linens and dressed waitstaff. The music is Chinese and helps set the ambience along with muted lighting. Timing is rather quick, but you can eat at your own pace. Our water was never empty, but we were not offered more tea. (I'm sure we could have asked) The food? It's exactly what one would expect at any Chinese food establishment. It's neither greasy not particularly memorable in any way. It is good enough, but nothing to write home (or Yelp) about. Price is fair & competitive. The portions are rather large, and we were able to easily split the one entree along with an order of special fried rice, with added egg drop soup for the hubby. We even had a small amount left over! I always enjoy going here whether with a group or just the hubby. However, the actual food and dining experience though pleasant enough, is not what brings us back again & again. It's a great location for us townies and you can get in on any Friday evening at the last minute no problem without breaking the bank. A nice added bonus is complimentary ice cream for dessert along with the Kung fu panda fortune cookies. We have driven past this place several times. Our favorite dine-in Chinese is *still* just doing take-out, so we decided that at worst, Wang Palace could be the "methadone" for my Chinese Food "jones." Well, it fit the bill - no "methadone" here; what we found was an impeccably clean, handsome restaurant staffed by gracious, friendly people. I fell in love with the place's well-stocked bar they moment we entered. Drinks were big and value-priced. I was surprised they had Campari - I was delighted to have something light and refreshing on a sultry summer evening. We did notice the ubiquitous "umbrella" drinks going by, destined for other tables. This restaurant is old-school. Tea, house-made crispy noodles, duck sauce and mustard were set out even before we ordered drinks. Table cloth and napery are, well, cloth. Table appointments were spotless (no greasy, crusty soy sauce bottle here!) Food was good. We decided to forego appetizers, and shouldn't have. I had "double sautéed pork." This is the Cantonese style, not the Sichuan style, but it works. Plump, nicely-cooked chunks of pork were fragrant with seasoning. Big black mushrooms abounded, as did crisp, delicious young cabbage, onion and pepper. The sauce was dark and complex. My only complaint would've been there's a lot of it. Good white rice accompanied. Best buddy had a deliciously prepared Moo Shu pork. The pancakes were steamed beautifully (no stale, leathery pancakes here). Unlike some others, who put it together for you, we were left to assemble them ourselves. Everything is value-priced, here. The prices are very reasonable. We plan to come back, soon. There were several dishes on the menu that we want to try - "special salt" shrimp (we've had this under other names, but their translation conveyed authenticity), "Hon sai gai" is a misspelled transliteration for "red cooked chicken," a home-style dish we enjoyed in Taiwan. Service can be slow - but not painfully slow. Our greeting at the door was foiled - twice - by take-out customers who're actually regulars. Next time we'll order drinks right away and park in a corner until a table becomes ready. My only other complaint was that it wasn't really cool enough inside (but it was very warm outside, and they were busy).
