Sadly my critiques are that the base ice cream scoop seemed super small and I was also surprised that the "big kahuna" was a lot smaller than pictured (still large but not like the picture). Dessert in Redondo Beach, California... After viewing the sunset at Point Vicente Lighthouse, we looked for a nearby dessert, and "Wanna Chill" popped up on our Yelp apps. We found an easy free parking space right in front of the shop. There was a line out the door, but we eventually got to the front. I wanted the (cute) Kid's Bear dessert, but the cashier said they didn't have it - even though I showed her my photo of the picture menu. Shucks! I quickly had to decide on the Non-dairy Chocolate Chip ice cream. It's made with Oat Milk. It was OK. It wasn't as creamy as real ice cream, but at least I didn't have pain after eating it! Small ice cream shop with a large variety menu. Service was quick and it didn't take long to get our orders. Their prices are a lot cheaper than other ice cream places I've been to, but the quality is still great. I got one scoop of the pistachio ice cream in a cone and it was more than enough. My other friends were feeling adventurous and got two scoops of different flavors - they all enjoyed their choices! My only complaint is I wish there was actual seating. This place has it all from ice cream to shave ice to other cold delicious desserts. The place is kinda small so I can see this place packed with the line out the door due to all the options here and especially on a hot/warm day or evening one can imagine the crowds especially the beach crowds since it is close by the beach. I got the chocolate malted crunch ice cream it was good almost like Thrifty lol. There is no restroom here or any indoor seating, basically it's standing outside and eating kind of place. Wanna Chill has been a neighborhood staple for me mostly from a convenience standpoint, but my last visit allowed me to appreciate this little gem much more. My boyfriend, pup and I walked in on Tuesday night (2/10/26) while on a walk and were immediately greeted by a polite and confident young man (wow! I am old enough to use that phrase ) he allowed us time to peruse their abundant offerings, and when we ordered, he made helpful suggestions without coming off pushy or sell-y. He ensured that our order was correct with the other young gentleman working the line as I had a special request and thanked us for coming in. Our milkshakes and pup cup were made efficiently and tasted great! I have been in hospitality for a long time, and I know that I can be nit-picky. I have worked with full grown adults that didn't have this understanding and natural ability to portray the manners and service these young dudes provided us! This was such a pleasant visit. We felt welcomed, were provided great customer service and a product that will keep us coming back. So I guess you're supposed to stand outside in the cold and eat cold ice cream or take it home and have it melt in your car. Two tiny tables would be sufficient and they have the space for it. Love that they not only have real pineapple Dole Whip, but they have li hing mui powder, just like back in Hawaii! Next time you're here try some li hing on top of your Dole Whip for a true island treat. In addition to being one of the few places around serving Dole Whip (in pineapple and pomegranate), they have every dessert you can imagine including froyo, ice cream, shave ice, frozen banana (packaged) and semifreddo (packaged).
