I had a craving for mexican food and was looking for a restaurant to try. This place is tucked away in a sleepy shopping center, blink and you might miss it. Its very unassuming both inside and outside. I went during the week for a late lunch. The place was almost empty, just my table and two people at the bar. The interior was clean but had clutter in the corners. We were greeted by the only person there, I believe probably the owner or manager working as a server. They have a diverse menu. We ordered and they brought out chips and salsa. It wasn't bad, the salsa was a bit spicy for my taste. My seatmate order the chimichanga without the smothered green chile. My companion said it was good but there was something off-putting about the chicken, they felt like it was mix of pulled chicken and canned chicken. I ordered a choice special with chicken enchilada, beef tostada and rice and beans. Overall it wasn't bad. Everything tasted as expected. The chicken enchilada was a bit bland even with the red sauce. It tasted fresh, but was missing that exceptional restaurant quality that you want when you go out. read more

This was my first time eating here and it was great! I ordered the steak street tacos and wow! So good! It came with 4 tacos and no beans and rice, which was perfect since I don't usually eat the beans and rice. But the steak in the tacos was delicious and no fat!!!! Very expensive and under staffed. Came in randomly while taking an unusual route home after running errands. There was a US world cup game on so the crowd was great but from what I could tell, for about 50 patrons, there was only a bartender and one server. To start with let me say that this place is a clean, attractive and comfortable place to dine. We were a party of four and we were greeted immediately and seated promptly. We ordered nachos as an appetizer and they were good as nachos go. I ordered crispy chili rellenos,others ordered fish tacos, carne asada burritos and a chili hangar. I have a fondness for chili rellenos and I have enjoyed and not enjoyed them in many restaurants. These rellenos were very good, crispy, tasty and with some green chili sauce on the side for dipping. Everyone in our party enjoyed their meal and really liked the ambiance. The service was on point without being intrusive. The quality and quantity of the food was worth the visit and I will be back. Hubby and I got takeout of Steak Fajitas, chips and a side of their salsa from their location on 112th and Federal. The employee helping us was marvelous.i would give that man a five stars in customer service. The portion was pretty large and the veggies fresh. The salsa was really tasty but the meat was bland . I like fajita meat to have spice added to it also. I would probably try something else on the menu next time. read more

Some people may think that the Jalisco sauce is spicy, my server asked if it was too spicy. I enjoyed it and can do medium/hot levels of spice. I'll rate this on 3 things Food- good food, it was hot , not to spicy typical dishes nothing signature or that stood out to me. Chips and salsa were perfect for me but if you can not handle spicy salsa do not try it. Service- top notch ! I hope they never change Location- this place is small. The decor is modern and fun. Open concept that is split one side with comfy tables which are to close to each other. I left they are trying to maximize the seating area. The other half is more a bar filling with a tv and high tables. My opinion get ride of that and add more space and tables. Overall if this place is not crowded it's a cute and fun time. I decided to try this restaurant after rave reviews from my neighbor. We have a favorite Mexican restaurant so we were hesitant to switch it up but now I am glad we did. We have been going to Wapos in Boulder for years. The food was always extraordinary. Especially the Pastor. When they opened closer to home, we were excited. However, after a couple of visits, we are extremely disappointed. The food is nothing like the Boulder location. It is bland and without character. Tonight, the chicken was very very dry, the torrillas seemed a fewdays old. They weren't just dry, they were crispy. This is just another example of expanding killing quality. What a total bummer. The food is absolutely phenomenal! Since the first time I've come here I cant say how many times I've come back. From delicious egg breakfasts to the mouthwatering street side tacos, this restuarant never misses! Coming in at $16 one of my fav dishes is the DF street side tacos with bacon and steak and mushrooms they are just incredible and considering the portion size of 4 tacos your likely to leave feeling satisfied and satiated. The staff is incredibly friendly, attentive and all around a joy! We went on Cinco de Mayo and they were packed, however they were so kind and doing everything to make everyone happy, which from our experience they did! Our plates were cleared (rare occasion for us). So many different things ordered at our table and all 5 guests were happy with full bellies. Our 12 year old is a hard sell, she was so happy and can't wait to return. This was our 3rd time at Wapo's and we will forever come back! Delighted to have this new restaurant in our neighborhood. The food is excellent and authentic but not among the best. The margarita was watery and the food was good, but not outstanding. The staff was exceptionally good. Another downside is that the Cerveza is served from bottles and not the tap. The wine list is basically almost nonexistent and does not offer varieties that work well with Mexican food. The owner is relational, good hearted and management comes to your table. We definitely will be back and hope that some improvements be vague in these other areas. read more
