Now that was a happy accident. So I'm on the way to the Denver Zoo. It is a beautiful November day after all (and I have two kids). Well we were having some conversation so it wasn't until the 4-year old in the backseat pointed out our location "this is the way to the children's musuem" that we noticed we skipped our exit. So we took the next exit, and headed toward the zoo thanks to Google. I even thought "well, I would like some coffee. . maybe we will hit some place on the way" The place on the way we ended up at was Wash Perk. Was it iconic as you drive up. . .Fall foliage, leaves, sunny neighborhood place. Populated with urban hipsters (more so than Yuppies). . most of which are enjoying the outdoor patio and sun. Inside you find a really cute coffee shop, nice selection of pastries and food. . and even a kid area in the back for your youngster to play with. I only wish this place was on the way more often. . .because it is a really nice, cute, place. Oh, and as an after thought maybe - our coffees were awesome. My wife scored a great iced brewed coffee and I had a traditional brewed. Both were solid examples of coffee awesomeness. read more

I have been coming here for a year and have not had a bad or even average experience. The personalities of this community are funny, authentic, kind and compassionate. Lovely neighborhood coffee spot that is great to meet friends and come to read a book. However, if you like to study in cafes, be warned. While I study here, I bring headphones to drown out conversations and don't come here during the unfortunate hours when children aren't locked up at school or in bed. People bring their kids and have them run all over. I recently noted an explosion of 18 (last count) signs throughout the cafe including one at every table that threatens you not to bring your own food, use the microwave only for food purchased, not use the wifi unless you bought and enjoy your purchase etc. It makes the whole place so unwelcoming that I almost not want to come here. That said, I enjoy their tea selection and the fact that I can bring my dogs to relax on the patio. Unless of course there are now new signs prohibiting me from tying them up without a harness or similar. I better check..... read more

Decided to try this place out based on reviews here on Yelp and I'm glad I did!! Wash Perk is our very own Central Perk (from the tv show Friends). It is your friendly neighborhood coffee joint who makes beautiful cappucino designs in your Late :). The coffee (I had a medium latte) was fantastic. The service was super friendly and quick. I love all the different seating options (tables, couches, lounge chairs, etc.) spreadout in this little quaint space. I saw a sign that they upgraded their WiFi router from a residential one to a commercial. They really care about their customers coming in using their WiFi. It's a nice change up to the typical Starbucks chain. If you haven't tried this place and you love coffee...Check It Out!! read more

Funky and sprawling this place is your quintessential coffee shop. Everything one could want from a well done espresso to little niblets of tasty morsels to snack on. It's not exactly a quiet place depending on when you are there, however, there are lots of seating options and places to plug your electronic gadgets into. There's also seating outside for those nice sunny days when you want to catch some rays. I also encountered 'live' music there from time to time which adds to the level of sound swirling around. If you're looking for a quiet place to study you might find the library a better option, but if you're looking for a easy going place to hang out and surf the net after you've taken a few laps around the park this is the perfect place to be! read more

I can't believe it took me so long! Just a few blocks off of our regular walk around Wash Park is Wash Perk - a fantastic coffee shop. Wash Perk is a great place to relax with a great cup of coffee, or iced latte (on warm September morning). All around are people enjoying a good book, surfing on their laptop, engaging in spirited conversation (as was the couple next to us) or just sitting and quietly reflecting on the joy of living in the city. I have been coming here for about a year now and this is a place I just keep coming back to. The service is always friendly, accommodating and helpful. They definitely make you feel at home. Even know, given the times of this worldwide pandemic they have opened up their side window to serve coffee and treats. The employees wear mask and sometimes gloves. I feel as though they are being extremely safe and healthy which I so appreciate! While we adjust to our new normal, it is so refreshing to have this piece of normalcy. read more

My wife is a regular here, and loves it. I have been a handful of times, and I also enjoy my time there. The space is great - very relaxed, with lots of different types of places to sit. During the week and during the day it's filled with people working, so it's quiet and a great place to work with a tasty coffee drink. WiFi has never failed us, so that's also a plus. Also, the staff is always pretty friendly and helpful. My only gripe is the cost of their food options - $5 for a itty bitty burrito. I actually don't drink coffee but their chai latte and other options have been delicious. And my wife loves the coffee. read more

Super cute place - definitely a little cozy so be prepared to get nice and comfy with your neighbors. I came here this morning hoping to study for an exam and the place was packed! Since it was listed as a top place to work/study I thought it would be a little quieter. I ended up heading out after about 30 minutes because I couldn't focus - definitely partially my fault. I don't know if it was standard to be that packed on a Friday at 930. It wouldn't shock me as Wash Perk definitely gives off the vibe as the neighborhood coffee shop where everyone knows your name. The coffee - I had a nonfat latte and a slice of the vegan banana nut bread. The bread was surprisingly delicious! The latte was also super good! Nice and strong and hot - all just the way I like it. This is one of those places that I would definitely come back to with a friend to catch up but I don't foresee myself studying here in the future. read more

I come to Wash Perk at least 4 times a week. This place is awesome! I love the Lavender Marshmallow Maté Latte. The coffee is exceptional, however, the employees can be unpredictable. Some days, they are super nice and welcoming! But other days, they don't greet you at all and it feels unpleasant. That is very rare though! I highly recommend coming to Wash Perk. This is one of my favorite coffee shops in the area! I really enjoy the community feel. There are always lots of people hanging out working, reading and chatting. You can tell it's a joint prized by the neighborhood. Drinks are decent, while not amazing, and reasonably priced. Fair assortment of pastries and the usual burritos and whatnot. They're usually pretty busy; occasionally service has been questionable and I've been offered a free drink card (without asking). I like laying around at coffee shops more than computerizing these days, and while there's a couch and a cozy chair or two I would like if there were some additional relaxed seating available. There is a good amount of chairs outside, which is nice! Parking is decent, on the streets of the quiet neighborhood. Overall I like the perky urban feel of Wash Perk a lot. read more

This was my go-to cafe when I first moved to the Washington Park area a few months ago. It's fairly close to my house and relatively convenient. To be honest, I didn't really know what else was out there, and I dropped this place pretty quick when I realized that there were better brews to be had. My main gripe with Wash Perk is the fact that it just seems... Dirty. The whole place is rather cluttered and that's just not something I find endearing. The drip coffee is pretty good, but it's not unique to the shop and I can get it for much cheaper elsewhere in Denver. I recently got a dirty chai here and it honestly tasted like lightly spiced water. I was completely underwhelmed. read more

The place is usually pretty crowded and the furniture feels like it could have come from a garage sale. Thus, the 4 out of 5. But really. I don't go to the coffee shop to chat up the baristas or evaluate furniture. I go for the coffee and the atmosphere and Wash Perk has that down. I am going to disagree with at least one reviewer here. I engaged the baristas in casual conversation as I ordered and they were very friendly and approachable. Could it be possible that the baristas are not robots and occasionally have bad days? Aside from that, the coffee here is great. They have their own roast, Alley Cat, that has some interesting flavors. Wash Perk is on my list of regular coffee spots. read more

I love coffee. I love caffeine. I love locally owned, cute coffee shops that are comfy, well lit, and friendly to the folks who need space and power for their laptops. Wash Perk is quaint and quirky. When I drove up to the corner, I thought for sure it was going to be PACKED inside. The sidewalks are full of chairs and table groupings, all of which were full already! But when I stepped inside, I was pleasantly surprised to see quite a few spots available for me and my laptop. I didn't see pour-overs being offered on the menu; I ordered a drip coffee. A pretty good selection of gf pastries (like banana bread) and typical pastries (though, they sell out pretty quickly). In the fridge by the counter, you see some sandwiches, noosa yogurts, and a selection of Mame's breakfast burritos. I was happy to get some work done here and wouldn't mind coming back! Pros: 1) plenty of seating, both indoor and outdoor. some cozy for chatting, some with lots of desk space. 2) a nice sized community table. 3) tons of outlets! 4) unique drinks (lavender marshmallow latte, anyone?) and good drip coffee. 5) lotsa street parking Cons: 1) relatively limited food menu. 2) no hipster pour overs. 3) no refills on coffee. read more

Disappointed! I understand the times are "weird" and pandemic changed the way a lot of places do business. I also understand that this particular business decided not to open inside seating - that's their decision and I respect that. However, they clearly are relying on them being a "neighborhood to go place" with stream of return customers who are trying to support a local business. Therefore, they are not trying at all. Their coffee, even though they use really good beans, is very mediocre - weak and watery. Their selection of pastries is very sad and taste like they are from a grocery chain bakery. Their attitude is very entitled - they won't go out of their way to serve you - the person in the window clearly did a favor to me when she looked through whatever they had in the pastries stand checking what they have instead of just learning the 3 choices they had available. Yet, she was not happy when she didn't get a tip. I like neighborhood coffee shops for their charm, uniqueness and unusual (in a good way) selection. I also like when they try to be "neighborly and friendly". This place didn't care for that. read more

Probably the best cafe in the best city in the best state in the second best country on God's green earth. VOTE 1 AUSTRALIA. But really, it doesn't get much better than this laid back little park-hugger. Wash Park is right there man, like right there, a hop skip and a bike ride away with it's green grass and lakes and tennis courts, and inside there's free Wi-Fi and a bookshelf and the baristas really know their stuff and are friendly as labradors. I asked for a long black and that's not a thing in America but we worked out what I meant and they did it just right. The only down side was not having a dog with me so I could sit outside and talk to other dogs. Not people, just their dogs. VOTE 1 DOGS. read more

The hot chocolate is good. The pastries are tasty. The crowd is diverse and mellow. What a charming coffee shop in the heart of Washington Park! After reading other reviews, Erin H. and I decided to meet here for coffee and conversation over this past weekend. I'm glad we did! Wash Perk is a cozy, inviting coffee shop with plenty of tables inside and a great patio as well. My iced latte was lovely and they serve Kaladi Brothers Coffee, which you can't go wrong with in my book. Additionally, they have Mame burritos, Sweet Action Ice Cream pints and a few other items to purchase for your eating pleasure. While it took me several years to discover Wash Perk, it won't take me several years to return! I can see myself suggesting this place first to friends when we get together for coffee. read more

They have standard coffee drinks and daily specials that are clever, creative, and tasty. I enjoyed a honey cinnamon latte and have been craving it ever since. I had them make me one at the dreaded SBucks this week and it wasn't even close. No surprise there. The pastry selection is also very nice. The day I visited I enjoyed a sour cherry oatmeal muffin. It was a tad dry but otherwise very good. There were a lot of vegan and gluten free choices from City O City I believe. There are also burritos and a variety of refrigerated items. Well, if this isn't the cutest, little place ever. Hidden amongst the adorable houses of Wash Park, this cozy coffee shop offers a quiet sanctuary to study, work, or simply sip on a cup of joe. Dog friendly and eco-friendly, everything about this coffee shop exudes good vibes. I also really enjoyed the fact that they serve burritos from from a local vendor. But my favorite aspect had to be the wrap-around patio that is perfect for any lazy day when you just want to kick back. The inside is full of fun artwork, pics of their favorite 'doggie' costumers, and they even have an area stocked with toys for the kiddos to enjoy while you grab your java on the go. This is one of the best coffee shops in Denver to enjoy your boring office job. In fact, perhaps they should get some bumper stickers to represent that fact! I have been going here for five years for those days when the office is just not going to cut it. There is a wonderful spot along the windows to get some true work done, while checking out the scenery and being distracted from getting your work done. Ah, go America. The coffee and chai is great as well, but the food items are very limited and not that great, which is why I sadly cannot award a five star ranking. The cinnamon roll is amazing, however. Another complaint? The internet can be spotty and poor. Before 10 AM, you shouldn't have a problem, but as more people sit down, the internet takes a dip. So, come early and you won't be depressed while trying to save your best spreadsheet yet. I am truly obsessed with their honey cinnamon latte (I prefer it iced!). All of the pastries I have tried have been delicious too. They also have a lot of great outdoor seating!
