Called to get 20 assortment of cheesecake cupcakes, each are $3.25 a piece. Order was placed 18 days ahead of the party. I got lucky that he answered after several rings in, especially since there was no answer the first time. There is no longer a store front shop in Southfield. Orders via text message. Payment upon delivery of the order. Ok. I ordered a total of 20 cupcake cheesecakes. 4 key lime, 4 strawberry swirl, 4 cookies and cream, 4 raspberry and 4 caramel pecan. Delivery is just over 2.5 weeks away. I thought it really convenient that the owner is able to make the cheesecake in cupcake forms, which makes it infinitely easier to share and eat for work team members for a party. After a major snafu with the order mixup the day of (the owner forgot about the order :( ) the owner did end up running out small samplings for my party a half hour after it had started, which I at least appreciated, since half of the celebration party's focus was about the guest of honor wanting some keylime cheesecake. We weren't able to get the keylime cheesecake the day of the party since the owner had none made for the day of the party. The owner did say he was planning to drop it off the Monday after to bring it by for my employee. That unfortunately never happened and we were never able to get or try the one cheesecake flavor we wanted from the beginning. That was a definite let down. :( My team and all tried each cup and flavor. The cookies and creams was my favorite, the raspberry was next. The caramel pecan was okay. The strawberry swirl wasn't my thing at all. On assignment for Doordash, I came to Mr. Washington's bake shop in Southfield. I quickly found him to be a colorful character with passion and care for making "Da best cheesecakes" His story began when he was married to his 2nd ex-wife, she would brag how her ex-husband made excellent cheesecakes. He told me he had to put a stop to that immediately and prove that he can do better. He did!! And so his journey began. He learned how to make gourmet cheesecakes form a mentor/baker in Jackson Mi and really honed his skills to become one of metro Detroit's best. He is offering his amazing cheesecakes to 4 Meijer Fresh outlets and continues making them for the general public and restaurants across the area. I highly recommend. I think died and went to Cheesecake Heaven! The BEST cheesecake I have ever had! And I lived in New York City, so I KNOW good cheesecake. $7 will get you a small, round dessert about 6" in diameter. I got a bunch of different flavors for a family get together: Cherry, Strawberry, Caramel Swirl (my personal favorite) Red Velvet, Cookies & Cream, Turtle, Key Lime, and Strawberry-Banana. my little nieces and my 96 year old mother loved it, and all of us in between. The Owner/Baker is a lovely man named Victor and he even made a Gluten-free Triple Chocolate cheesecake upon special request! He hand delivered them, as a special favor since the cheesecakes weren't going to be ready until later in the day. You just don't find Customer Service like this anymore. He said you can put them In your freezer and take them Out 6-7 hours before serving and they'll Be perfect temperature. This is a small business trying to get up in running during a Global Pandemic. His Cheesecakes will make you forget all your troubles, at least for a few minutes. The sign on his window says "International Bakery" but hopefully he'll change it soon and attract more Cheesecake fans. I am so happy I stumbled upon this hidden gem. Victor does an amazing business! He has tons of flavors of cheesecake to choose from and a wide variety of sizes. The bakery is sort of tucked into the strip mall (there's a building that can't be seen as well from Greenfield) and it's unit number 10 (currently called Gold's International Bakery). He's also often working at Eastern Market downtown on Saturdays and Sundays. These cheesecakes are so amazing! My husband found Washington's for my birthday and we came back for my mom's birthday a month later. We've done the medium personal ones each time because you get two nice sized portions from them. It's fun to get different flavors for each person! I cannot say enough about how delicious these cheesecakes are! Sister wanted something different for her teen's birthday - decided to try this place on recommendation of a friend. The idea of sampling several different flavors by trying their mini cakes appealed. Tried several different flavors including key lime and classic plain. Plain was spot on delicious - it's a classic for a reason. Key lime was a little soft on consistency & overly green. As an aside: Owner was friendly & talkative. He was in process of baking pumpkin cheesecakes; but we were told they were not ready yet. I am a baker myself and got to talking about the bourbon pumpkin cheesecake I make. As we were leaving he comped us a pumpkin mini - was looking forward to trying & comparing with my own.
