Are watch makers and repair people like cobblers? Are they becoming obsolete? I drove all over the Valley (ok, only West Valley) one Saturday morning, looking for a watch repair shop that could take the link out of my new watch. Two of the locations I found on Google map no longer existed; thus, I was forced to drive further west on Vanowen. But lucky for me because now I have a new watch repair/batter/etc. place. Watch The Time has a unit inside Valley Marketplace, half a block east of Reseda on Vanowen. They are inexpensive ($5 to take off a watch link; $3 to $5 for most watch batteries) and fast. I mean, super fast! I was out of there within 5 minutes. When I decided to put one link back on, he did it quickly. Friendly service and inexpensive! I am definitely coming back. TIP: Parking - The parking lot is one way and it's a small lot. I arrived early so there were plenty of parking. But when it's errand and grocery shopping time, it probably gets crazy. read more

Steve , the owner is a master craftsman in all types of clock and watch repairs. Many people go there for watch battery's but he can do your garage door fob, your cars clicker, anything that uses batteries. BUT here's the clincher ... I went in to replace a battery on a Diesel watch and some repair work and battery on a Burberry watch. I was initially quoted $25 per battery on both watches and Steve charged only $5 per battery. Then he hard part came, the repair work. I attempted to change the battery on the burberry myself and somehow I bent the face of the watch. Within minutes Steve had the watch apart and was able to fix the fave where is works like new. He replaced the battery but the watch still wasnt working. He used his loop and found that the coil was bad. He had to order a new coil and within 24 hours the watch was working and looked like new. The prices he charged were fractions of what a big box watch repair would charge. I ended up paying less than $40 for all the work (including batteries). For a $5 battery I would have never even opened the watch myself. Steve takes pride in his work and he is an expert craftsman. Great service is a true rarity today and finding someone that really knows what they're doing is harder still. Steve is one of these special people. He does all his work out in the open and explains in as much detail you want exactly what he is doing. I took my Tag to him and he had all the right tools from the manufacturer and did the work in 2 minutes. I brought it back for an overhaul and he showed me the teardown protocol. Since then, I've brought him my mother's 70 year old swiss Olma wrist watch and a sixty year old german Junghans chiming wall clock and he knew exactly what each needed on the spot. For my wall clock, I had gotten a quote from a clock repair shop on Sunset of $200 for an overhaul on top of any repairs it would need. Steve overhauled it, replaced the main spring and walked me through the operation and history of the piece for $150. Typical prices for wrist watch repairs are a fraction of what they cost other places I've tried before. The ONLY complaint is that the parking behind the place can sometimes be a little tough. Street parking works best during busy times. read more

Let me start my review by saying that I WILL BE A REOCCURRING CUSTOMER from now on (and that's despite the fact that this repair shop is about 25mins away from where I live... it's THAT worth it). I had four watches that needed battery changed and he finished everything in 10mins and for $5 per watch! They were very nice and accommodating too. I've been to other watch repair shops closer to my area and nothing compares to Watch The Time's customer service and prices. My first few times at this shop were pleasant enough. But BOY did that change. This guy "repaired" a watch I brought to him with the intention of selling it on eBay. He claims that he goes over every watch - even when the service is just the battery, he claims to go over the watch to make sure it operates properly. Well I sold a watch that this guy "supposedly" serviced. Turns out, he missed the glaring fact that one of the function pushers didn't operate. Well, I now have a return on my record and I had to refund the buyer all because this guy missed the issue with this watch. I called him on the phone and he knew I was on my way. I get there and wanted to video the box being opened so the buyer could not claim I swapped watches. This shop owner started freaking out (actually screamed like a little girl) "Get out of my shop. I am losing business." I would not have had to go back if this guy did his job or would stand behind the work he performed. " I don't want to be involved. You will not video tape me." Then he proceeded to pull out his camera and video tape me. Hypocrite much? I told him I would NOT show his face but that I just wanted to make sure I had video proof about what the box contained. You see, in order to win my appeal case at eBay, I needed this watch repair tech to vouch for the fact that the watch was running when it left his shop. He refused to go on record so I lost my appeal. I assert that the buyer may have swapped my watch with his non-working version, but this watch tech refused to even say if this was the watch he worked on or not. LAME. WARNING: He doesn't give out a receipt (you must ask for one) for any work he does. And he will refuse to go to bat for you if any issues arise. He wound up giving me back the $25 I was out due to his error and then screamed at me NOT to post it on Yelp. Hey pal, you can't have it both ways. You either help out a customer or you do not. You chose not to help and I am choosing to let the Yelp world know what kind of shady businessman you really are. The fact that he paid me, the fact that the security guard never forced me to leave the shop... tells you I had done NOTHING wrong. I guess that's why he threatened to call the police yet never did. Even though my raising my voice he took as a threat. Really? I never threatened this clown. NEVER. I just wanted to get my watch fixed or my money back. After speaking in Armenian to two other people in the shop (which is rude) he finally realized his error and paid me. Hey, here's a tip, "Steve" - stand by your work. Even if it means standing by your customers, otherwise it reflects poorly on your business practice. Oh and he actually threatened me by telling me, "I know where you live." Because the address was on the return watch box. What does that mean? I'm moving... so come to my old house, you little whiner. You are a sad joke. read more

I really like the shop service was really good. He did a very quick job on replacing the batteries. One thing to keep in mind is that most of batteries are around seven dollars however some of the batteries will be a lot more expensive and you may not expect it.
