This was our first time at Water & Salt Shaved Ice, and I already know it won't be our last. I went with the piña colada shaved ice with pineapple coconut ice cream, because apparently I wanted a full tropical vacation in a cup. It was cold, creamy, sweet, and packed with flavor. The pineapple and coconut worked perfectly together, and the ice cream in the middle was a very nice surprise. Honestly, it disappeared way faster than I planned. Wanted to check out this new spot, so I ordered the Piña Colada since it was one of their specialties. The first few bites were actually really good, but toward the end I started noticing these little gummy bits throughout it. There were so many that it kind of caught me off guard and took away from the overall experience. As other reviews have mentioned, the cashier at the front didn't come across as very friendly and had a RBF. She had a pretty serious demeanor and gave the impression that she didn't really want to be there. It's not a huge deal and I understand I'm not at like some Michelin star place, but I do think the customer service could be improved. One thing I also noticed was that the customer who ordered behind us received their items before we did, which was a little annoying. I'm not sure I'd go out of my way to come back, but if I'm in the area again, I'd be willing to give some of the other menu items a try. read more

I was craving Hawaiian Shave Ice but didn't want to stand in line for Ululani's. I am so glad I found this place in West Sac. They didn't have a line when we came, and service was super quick from when we ordered, to receiving the snow cones. The prices are cheaper too! I went with a medium, with lychee and raspberry (natural flavors) recommended by the cashier. I could've gotten away with a small because it was huge! My friend got a small with bubble gum and cotton candy (regular flavors). We were told the natural flavors are more fruity and regular flavors are more candy like. I enjoyed both! I personally, like the regular flavors more because they were more bold and sweet. I would get the natural flavors on the days when I want something a little lighter. Both are delicious and refreshing in their own ways. We also got mochi, which were at the bottom of the snow cones. By the time we got to it, the ice were already melted, I wish they were on top. We also got snow caps which are a must, just wish there was a thicker snow cap as it was on the lighter side. There have tables outside with misters. Love this place!! We had to drive 25 minutes out of the way for dessert and it did not disappoint! There were shaved ice, ice cream, smoothies, and alkaline water. The people helping us were so fast and kind. We asked them what we should do later that night and they gave us good recommendations for out-of-towners. Our ice cream was delicious. I got the kid size Oreo! It was so good. We ate our ice cream in their back patio. They have a tarp and some picnic benches for their customers. I flipping love it here! Can't wait to spend more time here so I can come all the time! My dr friend recommended it. She buys her John Ellis water here. I take her recommendations seriously. I traveled with a bottle as I order mine online. No one near me sells it. :(. I figured I'd take it with me to have it tested. I looked them up and saw they make sno cones and have ice cream. Still on my cruise habit of having to have sugar, sold. I was promptly greeted by Elijah. I talked to him about John Ellis and he was explaining water types and how it works. VERY knowledgeable young man. Super impressed by him. He tested my water. 0.0 which means it's either John Ellis or purified. Alkaline will register higher bc of minerals. I topped my bottle off and ordered a sno cone. The natural flavors don't have artificial flavors like regular does. I went w natural flavors of lychee and passion fruit with vanilla ice cream at the bottom. I got some of the alkaline water they have to sample and realized I needed the loo. Naturally my cone was coming out but I asked that they hold it and literally right when I came to return the key, Elijah handed me my sno cone. Again amazing customer service! When I was taking photos I saw they also do halotherapy! Again amazing! Kind of a one stop shop. They sell great health products and based on how they present are very in alignment with my values. Every employee was kind and courteous. I see why my friend comes here! Until I spend more time here it's a review in passing but I already can't wait to come back. I recently moved back to town and was excited to try this spot because it reminded me of a shop I used to love on W Capitol Ave. Walking in, I was happy to see a similar menu and felt nostalgic right away. Unfortunately, the service didn't match my expectations. After waiting in line, the woman at the register finished helping the customer ahead of me, then walked away without acknowledging me. I stood there for a bit until a young man noticed and kindly stepped in to take my order. I really appreciated his attentiveness and friendliness. While waiting for my two hibiscus lychee green teas, I noticed some confusion behind the counter. The employee preparing the drinks couldn't find the green tea and had to keep asking the same woman for help. She eventually took over, but the drinks didn't taste right. There was no green tea flavor, or lychee only hibiscus (I'm not saying she didn't add it, it didn't taste like it.) Honestly, the bigger issue for me was the lack of customer service. The previous location I used to visit always felt welcoming, so this was disappointing. A simple acknowledgment like "I'll be right with you" would have gone a long way. That said, I DO want to give credit to the employee who stepped in and helped me--he was polite and attentive. As for the woman with short hair, I hope she works on her customer service approach. Stopped in today to try the new Spring Breeze drink that we just saw on insta. Delicious and definitely had us feeling relaxed. I've been to Water & Salt many times. Usually as a treat for my daughter and her cousins after school. They love the shave ice and ice cream in many different flavors. My favorite is the Hawaiian Style Tigers Blood shave ice. I miss the Vietnamese Coffee shave ice. Water & Salt has fantastic treats and drinks, teas, honeys, herbs and supplements, and many many more items. Love coming in to see what they have. It's a small little shop packed full of goodies and surprises! You walk in and immediately see the bar area where the staff are making drinks and such and then to the left in the back you see the water station with multiple spots for refilling. Also to add, While sitting in the parking lot on a phone call, I watched several families pull up with their empty containers for home and come refill them in a speedy manner, very efficient! I dragged my husband here because I was craving shaved ice (and we needed glass bottles.) We got 3 5-gallon glass jugs ($79.99 each) and got the first fill for free. One of the managers, Danny, was super nice and spent some time talking to us and gave us a sample of their John Ellis water. We got there right when it opened and people started trickling in shortly after. There's a good amount of parking and it's easy to find. I got the matcha Hawaiian shaved ice. Such a unique store in West Sac! I talked to one of the owners and he told me all about the stores goals and everything they do which is all health based! I was able to learn about the minerals infused in the water, the hydrogen infusion, and how they make the water and why it's so important to our bodies. What was most interesting was learning how much hydrogen is in our systems and why it is so important. All the gallons you can get (reusable bottles) are all affordable and there was people coming in and out the whole time I was there. Was great to see so many community members who want to improve their gut health, thus their overall health. It was also cool to learn that all their house made drinks and shaved ices were made with this same water and fresh, fresh ingredients! I also learned about their salt room (which is the only one of its kind in the states) and how it helps people going through treatments and detoxify their bodies! The shaved ice I got to try was refreshing and like felt good to eat rather than feeling like I just had a bunch of sugar and fake flavoring. And another plus SO MUCH PARKING! We found Water & Salt while looking for ice cream after dinner tonight. It is a health spot/salt room that offers specialized water, coffee, ice cream, Hawaiian Shaved Ice and even products like teas, Sea Moss and vitamins to buy. We ordered the Chocolate ice cream and the Digest CBD drink. My daughter loved the ice cream and the CBD drink tasted of chai and ginger - it was good, but nothing special. It was definitely an interesting place, staff was also not very friendly - more business than anything. It also took a while for them to make my drink for the amount of people working - at one point, they just stopped making it and it just sat half finished on the counter. Okay, so I've been wanting to try this place for a while and finally dragged my boyfriend here at night. I'm not gonna lie, it was not where I thought it was gonna be--kinda sketchy, definitely not somewhere I'd go alone. That being said, the Hawaiian shaved ice?? Insane. I got the piña colada with Gunther's piña colada ice cream, and I swear it was life-changing. Like I've had shaved ice before, but never like this. So soft, so good. My boyfriend got Tiger's Blood, and I wasn't a fan, but he loved it, so whatever. They also put Hawaiian mochi or something on top, which just made it even better. Now the place itself is kinda wild. It's not just a shaved ice spot--they also sell vitamins, alkaline water, and these huge honeycombs for $20, which is actually a way better deal than the tiny $40 ones at Raley's. Definitely wasn't expecting all that, but cool I guess. Couple things tho: -It's all outdoor seating, so I wouldn't come here at night alone. -It's kinda pricey, $10 per shaved ice, so not an everyday thing. -they sell matcha powder here!! :0 But honestly? A visit to Water & Salt was a great ending to my trip to Sac this past weekend. S/o to my brother who informed of this place which I thought was an ordinary water station and I'm like why do we need to go as a family. Anyways.. what an experience! So glad I rolled with the punches and stopped by because I did a little research after being confused and checked out the menu in which they have Gunther's ice cream. If you've lived in the Sacramento area and surrounding cities then you know how good this ice cream is. It doesn't stop there though. This place is a water station, wellness shop, and dessert bar. They have dessert favs like Hawaiian shaved ice, freezes, ice cream and floats. My sis and I ordered the Gunther's ice cream of course, butter brickle flavor topped with almonds, caramel, and fudge. This was so damn good, I wanted another one. Rest of the fam ordered shaved ice and they said it was amazing. We all got to try hydrogen infused water. Definitely not your average water but interesting to learn about the chemistry and benefits it has for your body. S/o to Juan for educating me and my family on the process of infusing items with hydrogen and it's uses. Did I mention they have a salt room?! Now I know where the salt gets it's shine. Talk about overall wellness. Came here for the Hawaiian Style Shaved Ice and left super impressed and satisfied! I got the Medium Mango/Watermelon flavors. They also offer Natural Flavors instead of sugar based. This is one of my son and I's favorite places for a sweet treat. We've been coming here for years, even when they were at their old location on Harbor blvd. The shaved ice here is the best! You can add mochi to the bottom and that's how my son loves to order his. Tiger blood is his favorite flavor, which I hope is cherry and not actual tiger's blood. Gunther's ice cream is served here. It's such an awesome and clutch thing to know when you're craving some Gunther's ice cream but don't feel like driving to their location on Franklin blvd. I personally love the cookies and cream ice cream. Always hits the spot. A little secret menu item here is getting the orange creamsicle. When you order multiple items be prepared to wait 15 minutes between orders because they will make one and move onto a completely different order until they loop back to yours. I kept seeing posts and reels for Water & Salt and had to come and try it. The store is located in West Sac, off of W Capitol Ave. There is a private parking lot with ample parking spaces. We were overwhelmed with the large menu and options. The young lady behind the counter was very helpful and ask me what I like. She suggested the Mango Fruit Freeze with Gunther matcha green tea ice cream in between. Wow, it was so delicious and cold! Definitely a summer treat for me. I would like to come back and try the Hawaiian shaved ice that everyone is raving about. It sounds like they are just as good as the one we get from Hawaii. They offer alkaline, vortex and John Ellis water and people will come in with their containers to get refills. They also use this high quality water in their drinks and shave ice. We had a few samples of the water and it is refreshing. We were here for the shave ice though! They have a good amount of flavors to choose from with both regular and natural syrups as well as snow caps, ice cream and mochi to put into the shave ice. The portions are great and the flavors they use were awesome. They staff were so friendly while we were there as well. This local gem is in an unassuming strip mall in West Sac. I saw social media posts for their shaved iced and ended up being pleasantly surprised by all the other things they offered! This felt like a water science museum! The owner was kind enough to educate us about the different types of waters that they offer and even gave us samples of one of their most expensive offerings. I made sure to also drink a cup of their complementary alkaline water - and yes, it hits different! The vibe is pleasant and you're surrounded by products that promote innate health, including himalayan salt lamps. They also have self serve water dispensers on the outside of the store- I saw a handful of people come up and fill their water jugs.
