Plumber sat on my tub for 40 minutes huffing and puffing and coming to the conclusion they were probably going to have to knock a hole in the side of my house to fix it. By now all I see is dollars flying out of my wallet. Rip off! Paid them almost $300.00 for nothing. Fixed it myself. A qualified plumber can fix problems leading to inadequate drain venting. This is a job for a professional. Inspecting vents involves climbing to the peak of your roof and visually checking for obstructions that interfere with proper venting. The usual suspects include bird's nests and accumulation of leaves or other wind-blown debris. What Can Be Done Frequently, the remedy for clogged plumbing vents is a jet of high-pressure water. This can flush material inside the vents down into the sewer line and out of your home. Most plumbing contractors have equipment designed for this purpose and can complete the job quickly and safely. Moved into our house 6 years ago with a very nice Pentair/GE water softener…read more Couple months ago, had a plumber from Goettl (also terrible) come out to check a leak and lied to me about a lot of things but did recommend I get my carbon tank changed...fair enough. Found San Antonio Water Solutions because they are an authorized dealer of the system we have and they came out to change the tank. However, after that, the softener started leaking with every charge. So I called them back and they sent out a tech to look at it. Told me there was a crack in the system and that the whole swoftener needed replacement. Ugh. And also charged me another service call fee...thanks. 1- When they came out to replace the tank, he did not have the correct parts. So the system sat in my garage for like 3 weeks before they figured the parts out and came back 2 - They arrived to change the tank and told me I needed to change my Pressure regulator valve...which i had already done the week before! So my father in law adjusted it and apparently that made it better. So after they installed the new one, guess what? LEAKED AGAIN. 3 - So they sent out their "service manager" to look at it and told me there was likely a clog in the drainage system, leading to pressure buildup and I needed to call a plumber. (Which he should have known wasn't the problem since the rest of the house was draining just fine.) 4 - Called plumber, he cut the pipe and scoped it, to find out there was no clog but the drain pipe was installed weird and there was a little standing water in it but that was due to the way it was installed and not a clog. Conclusion: Upon further inspection by us, the homeowners, it appears that the only problem was a crack in the drainage tube. We have since changed it and no leaks. I attribute it getting cracked to when they initially changed the carbon tank. I'm now into this a couple thousand dollars when I should only be into it a couple hundred. Take-home points: This company is a clown show. They are absolutely awful at diagnosing issues. Their "service manager" needs to look himself in the mirror and question whether he needs to hire someone who can actually manage service. When the homeowner is the one actually solving the issues, then that should tell you something about the kind of job a company does. Won't call them ever again. Happy to have them out of my life
