Did a fantastic install. Left a few things for later If I needed them for full coverage. Spent time showing me everything. Well. I did need 2 more heads I had 69 heads and 14 zones. They came out said yes you will need 2 more heads to complete the install. and that should be covered by original install because It was put in the notes that I may need more once the system is settled in. I called and a person who had never been to my house said I did not need more heads and had an excuse for everything. Said I could get the work done for about $600. more This was so much BS I cant even believe it. I cant trust what they say now. because there all about the $ and nothing about the job. This is the worst vendor I have ever experienced. I had an irrigation system installed on my entire property. A flower bed was planned for the front of my deck (see associated photo). Prior to install the contract was altered adding a separate zone specifically for the planned flowerbed. It added $200 to the job. This was discussed and documented in e-mail. At the walk-through on the day of install I specifically requested the control boxes to be placed on the side of my deck. Also, the planned flowerbed was outlined with white marking paint. When I returned, the boxes were installed in front of the deck where the flowerbed was planned. I called the office and was told by the sales guy that, per the contract, the Foreman has final say on the placement and they will not move them. I asked repeatedly to discuss before my final payment. They refused. Instead, they used the routing / account numbers from the check I used as a deposit and issued a direct withdrawal from my bank account. I have the case file from my bank which they determined was "bank fraud" and the transaction was reversed. Water Works had access to my wifi irrigation controller account to "provide better service". They locked me out of the controls which were also altered to be on even during the rain. I had to reset everything myself. This was all with in days of install. They refused to talk to me. They then added an additional fee due to being forced to reverse their fraudulent access to my bank account and threatened that if I did not pay it, they would come and rip out all the equipment. 1) Don't give them access to your system via the monitoring service. 2) Don't use this company. All electric wiring was indoor quality and all parts Home Depot quality which shouldn't be used on a brand new system and on a 6 figure home. My yard is over an acre and they only had 1 main line rather than a split. Multiple flower beds and landscaping never saw water. Do your homework. This year, 2022, after they turned up my system, I found two sprinkler heads were lodged under the turf and not popping up. I fixed them myself, but jeez.. They also wanted to charge me for a broken valve, claiming it froze because I scheduled last year's turndown after 10/15, against their rules. Not true. My turndown was 10/5. I verified it later with one of the agents. I would not recommend this company to anyone - They are shady. They came out and installed our sprinkler system about 2 season ago. While installing, they ended up cutting all 4 of my bubblers without even looking, which I had let it go. Now 2 season in, I currently have one area which the hose is becoming unearthed since it was not done properly, also I currently have 2 leaks in the line. I have contacted them in regards to this, since they strongly say, LIFETIME LIMTED WARRANTY. - This means that if we stayed with there services, which I did, they are not going to cover this and states it is ACT OF GOD and they want to charge me $750.00 to just get them out to our house and then additional $500.00 an hour. Please tell me if you think this is wrong or not - since we had this for only 2 seasons. First off the job was sold to us by the owners son. He made commitments i.e. to be on the job, to use a machine to pull the lines, and to have the yard cleaned up after job was completed. None of these promises happened. The office staff were rude and unprofessional. The foreman did not listen to me as to were lines could not go. So lines need to be moved. I still remember this company telling their service employee that he had spent too much time on my job on a repair (because we paid the $200 up front fee and he couldn't figure out what was wrong) and to leave without even restoring our in ground lighting closures as they were when they arrived. All these years later (15 or so now), this company still holds the record for greatest lack of integrity, care and service. Do the right thing and you will be blessed by it. Keep doing the wrong thing and you'll most likely keep pointing the fingers at your customers, as I see your still doing. Response: isn't that convenient that your company doesn't have a record. My service experience with your company is something I will always remember. The owners children went to school with mine and the reputation in business was well known and spread in the school. They installed our system (11-zones) a couple of years ago. During scoping I suggested that we needed a couple of additional zones in areas that I knew were problematic in our yard. Was told that the salesman knew what he was doing and to trust him. Fast forward a couple of years and sure enough, we need those zones I suggested. Initially reached out to them in fall to get on the schedule for spring to have a quote for the additional service. I was told, no joke, to call back in the spring. I guess they couldn't be bothered with taking appointments in advance. So, here we are in spring. I've reached out to them via the request for information section of their website. No response. I called them and was told that I would receive a call in return. No call. I sent email again, but this time to the email address associated with their constant contact emails. No response. I went looking for someone -- ANYONE at this point -- on Homeadvisor.com and guess who was sent a lead... again... zero follow up. Finally, with one last effort to give the company who did the initial install the opportunity to service the system, I called them again today. The nice young lady who answered the phone was apologetic for how difficult it has been to get a response. She then offered to schedule a (for fee) service call to have them come out to provide me with a quote for services. I kid you not... They wanted to charge me for a quote. Things must be going well for them at Water Works... charging for a quote. Thanks... but no. Within two hours I have three companies happy to come on site to provide estimates. I cannot vouch for the other reviews WW received on Yelp, but for sure... understand that there's likely a good reason for some of what you're reading -- good and bad. The initial service and install was marginally satisfactory. They did execute what they said they would, but I should have pushed harder for them to take more of my money to do what I knew should have been done in the first place. So some of that is on me... I agreed to defer to the 'expert.' All in, for install... if they are price competitive at the time of quote, they probably should be in ones consideration set. Anything after they pull out of your driveway? Forget about it... Update to review based on response below: I'm not located in Winfield as Yelp may have you believe. I'm in Wheaton. And if you do provide free estimates for work, you probably need to tell the people who answer your phones. Unfortunately for me, even THINKING about this company and every shady, deceptive and unprofessional thing they did, upsets me greatly. From the poor installation that eventually required an almost complete re-do by another company, to them arguing back and forth with the city of Naperville about the permits and inspections, to the ultimate act of intentionally breaking our RPZ valve (intentional because no reputable company would forget to do the things they neglected to do) during the final contractual agreed upon shutdown, this company was HORRIBLE! I'm am really disgusted with Water Werks. I have annual contract that includes fixing or replacing sprinkler heads. The "fixed" a leaking sprinkler head two weeks ago and it was still leaking and now watering the driveway. I called them back to fix it again and this time they fixed the leak but its only watering the driveway. Even worse, they somehow had my credit card on file and tried billing me $140 the first time and $170 the second time. I had to block future charges from them but the photo shows what the $170 would have gotten me. read more

DO NOT hire them. If I could give them less than one star i would. They are very slick when it comes to giving you a quote but when it comes time to install all of the promised components and cover all areas, they will try to squeeze more money out of you or NOT give you everything they promised. Half the sprinklers are installed crooked so they can't be properly adjusted. They promise 100% coverage but a large section of my lawn is now dry and probably dead for good. The trenches they dig to install the piping are still there a month later and they are widening and look horrible. I was better off watering my lawn with a garden hose. I paid thousands for them to ruin my lawn and my summer. They will have you sign paperwork AFTER the installation stating that you will not aerate your lawn, (the best thing anyone could do for their lawn) and that they won't be responsible for anything, customer will pay their attorney fees etc.. Oh and they claim to know more than the manufacturer of the products they install from Hunter Industries. If you make the mistake of hiring them, make sure you DO NOT sign anything other than the initial contract. You would be giving up ALL your legal rights and options to recover any money or components stated in the contract. Very shady business and I feel sorry for some of the employees, they could be doing so much better if the owner(s) were better people. I have been using Water Works for quite some time and sure, there have been ups and downs but overall my experience has been good. On Friday, a tech came out to start up my system but couldn't because of some cracks in the system pipes. Initially, it wasn't going to be fixed and I was not happy but the owner got involved, as did Amber and everything was repaired and turned on! Although Friday's experience was not great initially, they stepped up and made it right. Everyone can't be perfect but how you fix your mistakes is what makes you a stand up business or not. Water Works has been servicing my system for several years now and I intend to continue using them. More than anything, they showed me that my business mattered to them!!!! read more

BEWARE of this company, especially Roger. We had an appointment today for turn on and installation of a $600 fertilizer systems. Appointment was for 8 am, technician was sent to wrong address and told us by phone to reschedule the appointment. After calling the office, the time was changed to 1-4 and they arrived at 4:15. Tech was rude, arrogant and a lier. We are having a driveway installed and I was told by Roger that they would return when the driveway was done. Roger is a very scary man and among other things I was asked if I understand english. I was told there were 5-6 line breaks because of the driveway. In actuality there is one line break- no where near the driveway and it was due to me tilling for our garden. While I was talking with Eric I heard Roger in the background screaming at another customer. Then Roger said to give me to him and that "he would take care of me". Eventually I was hung up on - never having received confirmation of my cancellation or refund of my $600. I called back and was hung up on again. I have never been treated in such an awful way and am now sorry we chose this company last fall to install a new system in the home we purchased in Hoffman Estates. I am now looking for a reliable, trustworthy company to move our work to. BEWARE Reply to Roger's response: I am attaching pictures of the system working correctly. Roger was not willing to question if his technician was correct about the multiple line breaks and broken heads that came from our driveway being done. As the pictures show, there is ONE sprinkler head on each side of the drive. They are neither broken or are there broken lines. As it turns out, while investigating the line that I thought I had broken, it was not broken. The cap (end of line) had blown off when the system, that WW just installed last fall, had failed. I simply glued it on CORRECTLY and this solved the problem. Took me about 5 minutes. Roger seems to be known by many (see reviews on this site and others) as always blaming the customer. He found out we were getting a new driveway and saw dollar signs. His technician did not have any intention of completing the work - and left. I am always willing to take responsibility for my mistakes or failures. Roger is never wrong. He is abusive and threatening on the phone.. I have sent these pictures and others to the State's Attorney. Proving that the system is working correctly seems to take away Roger's ability to charge us frauduentiy, but according to my contact at the State's Attorney office, this does not take away the intent to commit fraud. The threatening way I was spoken to on the phone is also being investigated. Many other's have seen my reviews are are also reporting their experiences as further proof. My personal attorney recommended reporting to the police and to the Village, which have also been done. His entire response is incorrect. My only consolation to the trauma I was put through is that Roger will be tied up with legal issues for quite some time. As other reviews have mentioned, "its amazing Roger is still in business". Shame on me for not doing more research before hiring him. If you are reading this, clearly you are doing your research. read more

This company is not worth your time and investment. I used them to install sprinkler system and, on several places, they pretty much put the water lines right on the surface. You could see waterline sitting on the surface. It got punctured couple of times. None of the sprinkler heads are installed straight. They didn't follow the city codes to install the heads on the easement in the first time. When I called them to relocate the heads to the middle of the easement, they installed the heads 16-18 feet apart while easement is about 14-15 feet wide; which means water won't reach in many areas. When you ask to fixing issues, they send HARASSING work order saying , you are " ON WALL OF SHAME" see the attached image. The man who came out to do it, said that we had a broken valve and presented us with a written charge for an additional $125, which my husband signed for. When I called to point out that they charged an additional $25, the owner said that the serviceman must have been using an old price sheet and that it wasn't his problem. I pointed out that he was responsible for his servicemen and he should stick to the price quoted in writing and refund $25. He refused, and was quite arrogant about it. My wife and I have lived in the Villas of Fisher Farms for 15 years. Shortly after we moved in we discovered that the Association at that time required the villa owner to keep the lawn alive. So 1 number of us banded together with Barry Katz as the organizer. Barry went out to check on prices for sprinkler installation. Waterworks came out to install the sprinkler systems in our neighborhood. They extended the offer to others who wanted to come on board. We were so glad we had the system installed because our lawns stayed alive during the drought that Summer. For more than a decade the company comes out in the Spring and the Fall. The technicians replace the broken sprinkler heads free of charge under contract and now after fifteen years they replaced a major component at cost. They offer deals in the middle of Winter to encourage contract renewal. As long as you renew the contract you have a life time warranty. Whether you are a single family owner or a townhouse owner check them out. They are reliable and make sure your system functions well. We can only sing their praises. read more

Expect to pay premium for these services, and to still run into issues for which you end up paying yet again (sometimes charged automatically without notification). Even if you have a service plan, it is very difficult to get a clear answer on what is covered and what it is not covered by such service. The company is disorganized. Emails go unanswered. They are so messed up they now have you pay in advance and guess what they didn't show. Now I have to dispute the charge for $300 for a start up that they didn't even perform. I contacted Water Works for a sprinkler system & was given a quote of $4500 for installation, plus their Ferti-Flo (fertilizer) was given to me for free (a $450 value). On July 6th, my credit card was charged $2475 with the understanding that the rest of the balance would be due after services rendered. The actual installation took place on July 30th & the workers arrived 2 hrs late. I was told to expect the workers between 6:30-8:30 am; however, they did not arrive until 10:30 am. Since they arrived later than expected, I was not able to receive a tutorial of the system after installation, as I had to get back to work. One of the workers understood this and ensured me that someone would walk me through the process step-by-step over the phone or in person at a later time. I was okay with that. I called the company 4 times to set-up the tutorial and each time the person I needed to speak to was not available and I was promised that they would call me back, but they never did. When I was finally able to speak to someone about this, I was told to simply download the app and follow the instructions. I did not feel comfortable with that and shouldn't have been expected to figure out an unfamiliar system on my own as I did not want to take the risk and possibly ruin something. I was then told that someone would come show me how to use the system 8 days after initial installation as the company is only in my area during certain times of the week. That was not acceptable--especially since this could have been done on the same day if the workers had not shown up 2 hours later than expected. Finally, if was agreed that someone would stop by 5 days later instead. On July 30th, my credit card was charged an additional $3112.00. I had previously paid $2475, so my remaining balance should have been $2025. I was overcharged $1087. I contacted Water Works about this & I was told that the additional money was for the permit to complete the installation and for the fertilizer. I told the lady I spoke with that the fertilizer was offered to me for free and asked for an invoice and she insinuated that I was not telling the truth about receiving free fertilizer, so I asked to speak to someone else. Later, she called me back and apologized and said that I was charged for the fertilizer by mistake and offered me either a check for $450 or for 2 years of maintenance. Of course, I wanted my money back! Over the weekend I received a check for $450 (invoice still NOT included), but there is still $637 not accounted for. On Tuesday, August 11th, 2020, I contacted Water Works again and spoke with Ann again regarding the invoice that I had never received. She said that she would email it to me and to ensure that I received it this time, I gave her my email address again (although I had emailed her a few times already and she should have still had it). Turns out she had transposed the numbers in my email address. Shortly after our call ended, Home Advisor contacted me regarding the review I had left online a few days earlier about Water Works. They asked if my statements were true and I told them they were. They informed me that they would move forward & post my review online. Shortly thereafter, Cody from Water Works called me multiple times to discuss the "miscommunication". I was not available to talk right away so I gave him a call back 30 minutes later to discuss. He informed me that I was overcharged even more and that Water Works was going to send me a second check for $100+ (I do not recall the exact amount he stated [in addition to the $450 check]). This time, I was overcharged was for something else (nothing to do with the fertilizer). I asked him why wasn't the entire overcharge sent to me in one check? This just didn't make sense...especially the timing of it all. I had called and emailed multiple times regarding this issue over the past week, but now that Home Advisor was involved Water Works was trying their best to rectify the issue to avoid the negative review. My problem is the dishonesty. Since I contacted the company multiple times regarding an overcharge, why wasn't the charges reviewed thoroughly for accuracy? Also, why has an invoice still not been provided? Cody & I were both upset and he told me that now they were NOT going to send back the additional overcharges & also would not provide any further service to me. That's quite okay with me, seeing that I am not impressed with this company. What I found to be funny was that now I was undeserving of the 2nd overcharged check--which he just admitted. Now, some guy named Roger is contesting my review on Home Advisor and stated that I have provided false information & that I checked off that I wanted their Ferti-Flo fertilizer for $450. Yes, I did check that off because it was offered to me for FREE. Hmm...just 4 days prior, the company admitted that this was offered to me for free, so why did they send me a check for $450? Summary: Deceptive business practices, shady customer service & required credit card company to get involved in order to get a refund. This was one of worst customer experiences I have had in working with a service company. We recently moved to a new home and saw our irrigation system had been setup by Water Works. We contacted them to review maintenance services and winterize our system. During the initial sales process they were very friendly and responsive. Calls/emails would be followed up on within 24 hours. However, after digging into their contract and services, things did not add up. I uncovered others have had issues with service quality and also their prices were much higher than some competitors. There were too many red flags and I decided to cancel my appointment and not go forward with a contract. Immediately after notifying them of not moving ahead they stopped responding to emails and following up. They had charged $300 for a contract that was never signed/finalized and before any service was provided. They said this was standard practice, but I don't know of any service agreement that is charged before service or without a signed document. After numerous follow up emails they never to this date responded to next steps. My credit card company had to get involved in order to get a refund. After reviewing other Yelp reviews it seems that I was not the first customer having these refund issues. read more

I have receipts to prove I was a customer for over 10 years. This is just another example of how terrible the company is and how they don't take responsibility for their mistakes. After I posted my review, I went in and read the other one- star reviews of this company and completely agree with the other reviewers. Yes, Roger the owner was rude, threatening and unapologetic. When you call to complain, they place you on hold hoping that you will be tired of waiting and go away. But if you keep calling, they will blame you for the problem and yell at you, And then when you post a negative review online, the office attempts to discredit the bad reviews by blaming the reviewer or saying they're not authentic customers. These are not isolated incidents. There is an obvious customer service pattern here. And it comes from the top of the company. I have never used a company where the owner treats the customer so horribly and unprofessionally! I don't usually post reviews but had to in this instance because Water Works is so bad. read more
