Unfortunately the food is not good any more. We ordered the duck entree, the bone in chicken and gnocchi, and a few dishes for our kids. All meals were incredibly over salted, and the flavors were 'meh'. It was a step above Denny's for 10 times the price. We have been coming here for years and remember times when the food was done very well. Hopefully they can get back to that point! It's a nice resort by the waterfront with nice view of the south Hood Canal. I must agree with the other review about the new chef because food was quite yummy. We ordered the seafood daily special which was Dover sole stuffed with pan seared scallops. The fish was very tender and with the right amount of sauce and spices. I could have given 4 stars because all else was wonderful and delicious, except for the chicken on the kids menu. Our whole family stayed at the resort for 4 days and ate breakfast, lunch and dinner at this restaurant. The only thing that was disappointing was the kids "dry" chicken tenders, which I took a bite of, because my kids didn't like it. Their seafood dishes were excellent, even the "kid's" halibut fish & chips were crispy on the outside and tender / meaty on the inside. I give them 5 STARs for the adult seafood menus that were absolutely fresh and heavenly! For breakfast, the crab cake egg's Benedict was the best I've ever had~~(it was so good I had it again the next morning)....another winner~the clams / oysters for lunch and for dinner, salmon cooked on wooden plank, that was perfectly cooked, with woodsy aroma...like wow!! Really disappointing quality food this time. Such a shame, we used to love this place. Can't believe I paid $23 for a salad with a bunch of cheap romaine 3 frozen shrimp and some ugly looking smoked scallops and no dressing. No complaints about service, but come on! The bloody Mary's had a ton of toppings, but none of them were any good. We were extremely disappointed. Breakfast - The Apple Waffles and Breakfast Potatoes are AMAZING! The breakfast sausage is delicious, as is the buttered wheat toast. Be sure to ask for the banana bread with honey butter while you're waiting for your food. Can't wait to do breakfast here again! Overall we've been to this restaurant several times over the past 12 years and sometimes we find the food to be "too fancy". Please do not confuse the Alderbrook restaurant reviews with the reviews for the Inn. This is one of the rare locations that Yelp has separated the two. The Inn is no doubtedly a upper class 5 star Resort. This review is solely on the Restaurant... I have had nice appetizers and cocktails here in the past, and the location at the Inn is breathtaking, so for those two 5 star reasons, I'll give bump them up to two stars. Otherwise, for my last meal, it'd be a zero. We missed their yummy breakfast menu, as it was just after 11:00am. So we had to pick from the lunch menu (after the obligatory high-brow "Do you have a reservation?", even tho the place was 3/4 empty. My sister-in-law ordered the Wild Mushroom and Pancetta salad ($18). It looked great, and I imagine it tasted great. She happens to be a vegetarian, and didn't know pancetta was meat, but that is all on her. My wife ordered a hamburger ($16) and was told to be careful, as the plate was super hot. That seemed odd to me, something I'm used to when a Taqueria broils a plate to melt cheese, but not on a hamburger plate. The result? Well, the fries looked beautiful and crispy brown, like perfect fries should. But the hot plate warning should have been an indicator - the plate sat too long under the heat lamp, and the fries, as beautiful as they appeared, were just too cold for consumption. But what really brought this culinary experience down to 0 stars (remember, the 2 stars are only from the 5 star location and view), is my club sandwich ($16). Other than the wilted pickle the presentation was elegant. But the club? How do you mess up a club sandwich. It looked elegant, with nice thick turkey, but sadly disappointed. The turkey was re-heated to the point where the all the outer edges were darkened and dried out to an inedible texture. Guacamole instead of avocado slices would have been fine, but combined with the over liberal slathering of mayonnaise, it just made a messy drippy mess. With the yummy bacon I MIGHT have been able to survive the dried out turkey and uber goopy sploogy sauce had the bread been toasted. Unfortunately, the bread was fried was fried in so much butter or oil I could have squeezed a pint of grease from them. In combination with the ooey gooey mess of the sauce combination, all I could eat was half the sandwich before, well, let's just say my tummy was a little upset. Yeah, and I couldn't even resort to eating my fries, as they were just as cold as my wife's. That all said, I'd still probably have given them 3 stars, but for the rude hostessing and very slow waitressing. Sad, and I'll still probably come back. But for breakfast after 11:00 up to 1:00pm, go up the hill to the golf course restaurant. read more

The waitress tried to explain the reason but am not sure I totally understood. Needless to say it was a disappointing surprise. This is on top of a tip. Overall me and my husband were there for 2 hours. The mixed drinks were great. After waiting for over an hour for 2 entrees they both came out cold and underwhelming. When we told our server about the issue the food was remade and brought out 45 minutes later. Bored and wanting to leave at that point we received our food that was indeed warm but extremely bland. The marinara in the pasta had no flavor profile or zest. The halibut was boring and also bland. When the server asked if we wanted dessert and recommended coming back for brunch I nearly laughed out loud. The restaurant has an automatic 20% gratuity. Our server was nice but If we could have we would have given a 5-10 percent tip because the experience was a drawn out, boring and a bland disappointment. read more

We ate at the Alderbrook Restaurant a few times during our stay over memorial day. I felt like it was very overpriced for what we got. The breakfast was the biggest disappointment because of the fact that there was a buffet which was cheaper than what we paid but NOBODY TOLD US ABOUT IT. Our waiter didn't even come back to check on us after we got our food and my poached egg was VERY OVERDONE and I would have sent it back but I never got the chance. Dinner was ok but just seemed so overpriced. The food wasn't anything "out of this world" and I regretted getting about half of the things we did. Beets were NOT ripe, crab cakes and cauliflower were pretty bland and the mains were good but not great. Next time I stay at Alderbrook, I'll get a second mini fridge and bring more of my own food to not have to be dependent on the restaurant. I would like to go back for the breakfast buffet but don't know how often that is served and have learned that I now need to ask ahead of time if there is one because apparently nobody will tell you. read more

Went here with my boyfriend for a late Valentine's Day date night. We knew going in the food was going to be on the pricier side. We each got fish and chips, clam chowder, he got two Blue Moons and I got one coconut mojito. Total was 130 (with tip) our waitress was Shea and she was great, the food on the other hand was not. Both our fish were over cooked/burnt. My fries were over done and his were undercooked. He got two pieces of fish and I got one piece. The good: Gorgeous view The meh: The food is hit and miss. Over the course of three days at Alderbrook Resort, my husband and I had several meals at the restaurant, and although there were some good dishes, there were others that were real stinkers. Hits included the duck carbonara (the duck was juicy and cooked to medium temp, but there was so much sauce that the pasta was drippy and swimming in it) and the clam chowder. On the other hand, the pork belly was so salty that I actually had to send it back (something I rarely ever do), and the $18 shrimp cocktail consisted of shrimp that was definitely past its prime. The halibut dinner entree I had one night was cooked nicely, but served with an overpowering, puckery lemon quinoa. The scallops my husband had for dinner one night were ridiculously salty and overcooked to the point of being rubbery. Not worth it. The ugly: Regardless of time of day and volume of customers -- whether it was happy hour, dinner, or room service -- service was slow. Polite, but reeeaaaaally slow. Getting refills on drinks or getting the check was a bit of ordeal. The restaurant gets a pass from me because there really isn't anything else around unless you want to drive a bit.. And the area is definitely lacking in nice restaurants, so if you're celebrating a special occasion, your options are even more limited. But if you're willing to forgive the food and the service, there's always the pretty view. read more

I really hate to give this place two stars as it has so much potential, but the food really was SO disappointing for both myself and my partner over the course of our 3-day stay at the Alderbrook Resort. We ate here for dinner twice and ordered room service through the restaurant for breakfast. Both times we dined in we left feeling very underwhelmed. During our first visit, our server raved about the scallops and the clam chowder being some of their star dishes, so we ordered those for appetizers. The scallops were slimy and tasteless and probably the second-to-worst scallops dish I've ever eaten. My partner disliked that the chowder was a soupy broth and not thick and creamy as he was anticipating. All of the salads we had were just fine and our dessert one evening (a seasonal berry shortcake) was very tasty and fresh. Some dishes were great and others were lackluster and overpriced for what we got. Out of everything we tried, the cheeseboard was by far the guaranteed winner of the menu with the best variety, freshest ingredients and healthy portions of everything. I can't recommend anyone ordering anything off the menu except for this cheeseboard and most bottles off the wine list. And for goodness sake-- someone needs to take the cheese grater away from whoever is executing the final dishes out of the kitchen-- WAYYYY too much cheese overpowering everything else on the dishes! read more

I was staying with some friends at a nearby cottage when we decided to come to the Waterfront for dinner. The whole resort is beautiful and quite an amazing place. We were seated right away for dinner (I think we were just in front of the dinner rush thankfully). The dinning room and bar are both lovely. There was even a private room that looked like there was a wedding party in and they were at a very long table with some privacy. The food menu is diverse and can run up to some pricey items for Boar or Lamb. I personally had the Duck Carbonara and Oh My Goodness! Sooo good! I will be coming back for this! My friends had salad, and some had steaks, all were very pleased with the food. Definitely no complaints! They had a fancy drink menu and a nice wine selection but I kept myself to a simple vodka soda water. Our server was knowledgeable and very prompt and friendly. He dealt with our party of 5 very well. He even took on our special request to split/share some taps. If you're in the area I recommend this restaurant, don't let the sticker price scare you though! But the food was mediocre, and needs to be straight up delicious at that price. I had the special Wedge Salad, which was pretty solid - though something on it was too salty. I had the Crab Mac & Cheese as my main course and it was just ok. It was regrettable. My father eloped at Alderbrook a few weeks ago. We had dinner at their restaurant afterward. I was so impressed! It was clear that the waitstaff wasn't super amused with us (we were high on wedding vibes, so we were a bit obnoxious), but they did their jobs well. The food was astoundingly delicious. I had THE BEST DAMN CRABCAKES I've EVER had. Not fishy, just right. My sister had some duck pancetta thing and I sneaked some of it and OMG, so good. We also had breakfast here the next day. It was odd - none of our breakfasts looked that amazing, but they all tasted divine. The scrambled eggs were just perfect. I had mine with smoked salmon and I gobbled it up. There were itty bitty jars of my favorite brand of jam (a fancy-ish French kind with no gross extraneous ingredients). Recommended! read more

They brought it to me And after several bites the waitress came back and stated it was wrong order (??) and took it away. Both had the hot tea, to be honest that was a highlight - lots of a nicer quality tea came out with natural sugar and lemon slices. While the weather outside was frightful, the hot tea and lovely view made for a nice lunch. We set a reservation for 5:00 on Sunday night for two. When we arrived it was fairly empty but the atmosphere was lovely. Such a quiet place and I cannot express how gorgeous the "breezeway" and the view of the Harbor are. Our waitress was wonderful and patient with our questions, the menu was small (I think 7-10 items on the specials maybe?) but had a great selection. I had the ginger cranberry drop and it was fantastic. We started with the muscle appetizer. I was expecting small muscles but these things were gigantic. We got completely stuffed on the muscles and AMAZING complimentary rosemary bread. We had a bunch of the marinara sauce left and it was so good that I asked her to box it up (worth it the next day I tell you what!). For dinner my fiance had the Prime rib special (something they do on Sundays only that wasn't on the menu) with fingerling potatoes and roasted cauliflower. He requested medium rare and it was much closer to the rare side (something I wouldn't have minded but he has a more sensitive stomach) but he said it was so delicious he didn't care. I had the fettuccine with clams and it was so much more than I expected. There were so many bites of squash, yams and all sorts of other things I had no idea what I was eating but it was an adventure of the tastebuds and I enjoyed every bite. Best part was this carrot purree that was underneath the alfredo, such a sweet sauce it blew me away. We went home with full bellies, a lighter wallet, a bunch of leftovers and smiles on our faces. My wife and I ate at the restaurant yesterday...for the LAST time. The experience begins with being interrogated by the host who insists you give her your name and telephone number. She says its for contact tracing, that management is concerned about the health of their customers and staff. Since other restaurants in the area suggest contact information as an option--not a requirement--it seems to be an over-the-top invasion of privacy. Their mask rules require customers to wear a mask at all times in the restaurant unless seated and actually eating or drinking. That means putting down your glass and utensil and masking up mid-drink or mid-bite if another customer or the server approaches. I was disappointed to find they've dropped crab and oysters from their menu, claiming that COVID-19 has interrupted their supply. That seems rather odd since both items are plentiful in the better area grocery stores. Lastly, they add a mandatory 20% gratuity to each bill and have the nerve to include a place on the bill to leave a tip. Really?? read more

My BF and I went to dinner here for our birthdays. It was fantastic. Service, food, and drinks were all dang near perfect. I started with the Sazerac cocktail - featuring Woodinville Whiskey Co Rye (nice touch). We ordered the crab mac & cheese - BF doesn't like crab so we got it on the side - super tasty. For dinner he had the filet (awesome), I had grilled Hood Canal Coho from the fresh sheet (also awesome). Dessert: they had a special for the night - crossiant bread pudding - best I've ever had. BF got the chocolate PB cake, and they brought us a complimentary creme brulee for our birthday. Delish! met our parents today at your restaurant to celebrate mom's 74th birthday . The resort is amazing but the restaurant was a bit disappointing. Two fish and chips, one hot turkey sandwich and a Caesar with grilled chicken. We received our food about 30 + minutes AFTER we ordered and mom had to wait an extra 20 minutes for her grilled chicken. We were done eating when the chicken came. She only ate half of her small salad and only half of the chicken. She said it was dry. The fish and chips were a bit over cooked and there was not enough gravy for the sandwich. The waitress apologized for the delay and that's it. She could of done a better job of making sure we had everything and checking back more than once. Great food and no wait during the off season. We dined one night in the lounge and the next in the restaurant. Both nights we were quickly seated and were well attended to by our servers. Food was delicious with large enough portions during happy hour in the lounge. My only disappointment was being seated at the back of the restaurant instead of having a full view of the water, when the restaurant was pretty empty with plenty of tables available. read more
