A great view, too bad the food sucks. I was excited to see a new salad on the menu as I try to eat healthy. The menu said it was a salad with fruit and roasted turkey. I assumed the roasted turkey would be restaurant quality, not cheap rolled up cold cuts that came on top of a salad with a few chunks of fruit and lousy tasting dressing. I def had a moment where I felt like crying when I saw it, mostly from low blood sugar, but also due to disappointment. If beer and wings is your thing, but if you're into quality food, it's a must skip! read more

Yesterday; a gorgeous sunny Sunday afternoon in Syracuse. My wife and I put the top down on the convertible and took a spin. I suggested the Waterfront Tavern on the river in Brewerton. We chose to sit outside in one of the covered seating areas. The beer was cold and wet. She ordered the lobster bisque as a starter and I had a half dozen raw oysters. The bisque was really good and the oysters were as good as any I've had anywhere, although I'm not sure what variety they were, they were medium size with a sweet briny flavor. For an entree we decided on a half rack of St. Louis style ribs. These were a bit of a disappointment. They were a bit greasy and a tad overcooked. The membrane hadn't been removed from the back side and they were over sauced. My own home smoked ribs are by far better. These days with so many good Q joints around, anyone offering ribs on the menu has to step up. Another beer for dessert and we were on our way. All in all a nice lunch on a nice afternoon. Excellent place to stop! Don't let previous reviews deter you. We were traveling from out of town and stopped here for dinner. I was a little hesitant based on some of the reviews, but I was pleasantly surprised. Great food, good service, friendly staff, and excellent outdoor seating by the water. We got our meals in a timely manner enough though it was prime dinner time. I would recommend any of their burgers and the lobster bisque. There was also awesome live music playing outside. Very good wings, everything else average. We has haddock sandwiches, a perch dinner and a pulled pork sandwich. With tip, $80, which we thought was pricey for what the place is. Only one drink ordered as well. The $2 side of salt potatoes consisted of 2 potatoes. It is what it is, a place for boaters to dock and have a bite. Nice deck and scenery once the dock construction is done, but I wouldn't go just for the food. 2 years later: I wouldn't change anything about my review except that the construction is now done. Took forever (over an hour) to get our food but we were on the deck under cover and it was a nice night. Wings are still the highlight of the meal for me! read more

Will definitely go there for the music again..but will never intend on eating there. Went last night and was told that it would be an hour before they could "process a food order", so we placed a drink order, and were happy to wait for food while we drank. The drinks never came, and then we were told they were out of both of the entrees we intended to have (brisket and pulled pork) and the appetizer as well (steamers)..there were open tables everywhere yet they were so far behind and out of food. Being in food service for years, i have to chalk that up to management. We ended up leaving without a drink or a bite of food..very disappointed. read more

Nice atmosphere with a newly redone outdoor porch. Food is okay, nothing extraordinary, but the summertime ambiance here in Brewerton is a welcome reprieve from other local diners and such. Overpriced and way under quality. Steaks are of barely minimal usda cuts and everything comes out with no seasoning. Party of 5, 1 entree comes out about 2 min after salad. Then 3 more entrees come out after waiting 5 min and asking what's going on. Then last entree out 3 min after those. Bottle beer was good. Layout of tables and flow of foot traffic makes no sense. For whatever reason they couldn't cook the steal on my salad to a medium rare. "No promises" is what the waitress said- but it won't be burnt. Came out very overdone as did my friends steak. Sent both back. Came out raw on my salad (still cold in the middle and unable to bite into) and no season whatsoever on the recooked steak. The waitress simply said, "well its as rare as we can make it. What do you want me to do?" Got the check and left.. terrible experience. When we are in the area we usually make a stop here. We like sitting inside but watching the boat traffic on the river. There is nothing stellar about the menu or the food, but we think the wings are a pretty safe bet. They are a good, meaty size and tasty. Even the mild ones have a little tang to them. The beer is cold and the drinks are reasonable. It seems like it's pretty much a local spot, and the outdoor deck is usually crowded. We arrived for a party of 10 on patio. The waitress only showed up to offer drinks to the first six who arrived. She remained absent for nearly 1 HOUR after we arrived, not stopping back to offer drinks or appetizers. Upon taking our orders, many items listed on menu were unavailable which we weren't informed of until our attempt to order. The waitress then disappeared for quite a long time, several members of our party went to the bar to get themselves second and third drinks. Our food arrived 1 1/2 hours later (2 1/2 hours after we arrived), where one dish was wrong, and several plates had side substitutions (out of cole slaw, we gave some of you tuna salad instead...!) as decided by the kitchen. At least the food was good (albeit heavily skewed toward meat and fried fish -- vegetarians, this is not the place for you) and the waterfront atmosphere was nice, but we would not return due to poor, slow service. read more

Stay away - used to go here years ago but never ever again - walked in and got seated almost right away because it really wasn't busy - waited more than 15 minutes and still no server to even take our drink order - we decided to get up and move to another table and our supposed server asked if we were moving - I told her we were in an attempt to actually get served and she said she didn't come and wait on us because she thought we were waiting for the rest of our party - really? When would you ever go to restaurant and at least not have your drink order taken. We then sat at another table and when our server came over we told her we were just having drinks and she told us we could get our own drink at the bar and we could go over in the corner behind the bar and sit at some other tables - apparently since we weren't eating we weren't welcome at that table - I will never ever ever go back - it's such a shame because the location is great and it used to be great - beware - stay away - I have never given a review like this before - if I could have given zero stars I would have read more

I used to work here, in fact, it was my first job. It was a blast working there and the high employee morale showed its self in quality of the food, although the menu was small. But then again, this was back in 2001, when TK99 would do live shows from the outside deck. Since then it has changed hands a few times and most of the wait staff/ bartenders/ bar backs (me) left. Although, I don't like the price and portion change of the wings, they're still very, VERY, good. I would say, go with a friend and during the summer, (winter time is very boring, just a normal bar and grill) and order 40 of those bad boys and munch away. that's the only way to get your money's worth. Last I knew, they had all the regular beer, nothing special. I'm very partial to Rolling Rock, when it comes to cheep beer, and they had them in the short neck bottles, which is something you don't see much of any more. read more

This used to be nice place. I recently went there on a Wed night. The wings were half priced to we ordered them for an appetizer along with a couple of cocktails. The third time out waitress came back for clarification on the drink order I was getting a little worried. The ambiance was severely lacking. We originally wanted to sit outside but they told us they weren't serving outside because of the bugs. So they seated us next to the table with 5 waitresses rolling silverware . Considering there were only two other people in the restaurant I"m not sure why we had to sit next to a bunch of gossiping, silver clanking, phone call receiving waitresses who couldn't be bothered to look up and see if their customers were happy. The table was wiped as we sat down. So it was very sticky wet and the place mats stuck to it, I had to get napkins from waitress stand to dry it. The Soup arrived on the bottom end of lukewarm it was actually pretty good once warmed up. But it took us interrupting the the silver rolling bee to get the waitress' attention. The chicken wings came out really fast were hot but the texture was rubbery The walleye dinner was mediocre the fish seemed like a came out of a box, The fries were very good though. Ketchup took interrupting the waitresses again as did getting the coleslaw that came with dinner. On the whole I felt like I was sitting on somebodies dumpy back porch and inconveniencing the staff. I also noticed a convenience charge on my bill it was 3,5 percent of the bill, The waitress explained rather flippantly that everyone does that now its a charge for using your credit card. "Ohh its on the menu." New to me. I was beginning to feel like I was on an airplane between the service and the fees. We wanted to eat outside, got there later than we wanted. No one greeted as we Walked in. Had to walk around the bar and find someone. We then waited at the "hostess" stand. We were finally greeted and then sat at a table. The bugs, after the sun went down were unbearable, so much so we had to just move inside. Nothing to prevent the bugs. After we moved inside we got our food. The crab cakes were cold and had to be re heated. The fries soft, soggy and cold. The BBQ beans were cool. The mushroom cheeseburger, had barely any cheese and had very little mushrooms. Utica greens were burned. Charcoal garlic toast came with it. YUMM! The soup was good. When we went to say something to the server, she responded "here's my manager" the "manager" barely let us get a word out and responded "ok, I'll take it off the bill." Yes we are fans! Every time we visit here it is always crowded.....the food and service always great. I am not sure what others are saying about bad service....we've never had a problem. From young to older servers everyone has been nice. Our water glasses were filled continually. The server came back several times to ask if our dinners were good and if we needed anything. We would totally recommend this place if you would like a nice view of the lake and boats or if you don't care for the steamy outside (especially this summer) there is room inside with A/C. Our summers are so short here so we ALWAYS choose to be out under an umbrella. We recommend this place. read more

Bartender Michele was very nice, but $10 for ten wings is a ripoff.....Mediterranean wrap was good, with a side of Mac salad. Was happy hour, and she said $2 domestics, but every beer on tap was domestic, including the craft beers, but blue and the only thing on sale was blue and yuengling. Dissapointed.......and why is there no bar outside? It's 80 degrees out! read more

We ( me and my husband) went Friday night for dinner, asked if we could sit at one of the tables with an umbrella, waitress said no, those tables are for larger groups. After we were seated, we noticed that there was one of those umbrella tables with just one person seated there just drinking and smoking. A couple tables down, at another umbrella table sat a gentleman, all by himself. It was a hot night so we ordered a cold beer. She served my Harpoon Ale and my husbands Labatts in plastic cup, both beers were warm and flat. When we told Mary Jane our waitress, she said, I'll be right back, She returned with two frosty glasses.......really! She wanted us to pour our warm, flat beer into cold glasses.....no!!! We changed our drink order to ice water and a bottled beer. My husbank ordered the seafood platter and clam chowder. The seafood was salty and dry and the clam chowder was sour. I ordered the broiled haddock, which was dry and tasteless... Needless to say...we will not be returning. We are also telling our friends not to waste their time and money. Barb read more

He makes the atmosphere very uncomfortable and I couldn't wait to leave.. I went there 6 years ago and he's still the same jerk owner as he is now !!!! was literally the WORST service i've ever had at a restaurant in my entire life on this earth. from the first moment my party got there we were greeted as rudely as imaginable. by "greeted" i meant a waitress spoke AT us in passing. we all had to take a step back when she barked at us, "are you eating here or are you just going to the bar?!!" once we told her we wanted to eat she just pointed over at an empty table and told us to sit and went on her way. this same lady turned out to be our waitress. of course. i believe her name was char. she took most of our drink orders, but skipped a few people in our party.. somehow. (my margarita was warm, btw.) when she came back to take our food orders one person from my party asked for his drink order [finally] since she never took in the first place, and she made a rude comment about how she "thought it was time for food orders". we put our dinner orders in, meanwhile, 2 of my friends almost died of starvation waiting for her to offer them another beer since their empties were sitting there for a freakish amount of time. i get it, sometimes things get crazy and crowded and hectic... but this was NOT that kind of night. when our food came, half of the stuff was missing. a few of us got wings which were served with no bleu cheese. our friends chicken tenders were served without the dressing he asked for. we had to shout at her while she tried to walk away if we needed anything since she wasn't into checking in on us WHATSOEVER. we had to ask 2 or 3 times for anything before it came and seek her out because she never once came back around to our table. when she finally came back and dropped our check off and ran away, we had to seek her out again to ask for our bill to be separated. no exaggeration, she laughed in our faces and said, "great time to tell me." we weren't a family or a few couples, we were a random bunch of friends, i would say 99% of groups these days ask for separate checks. (not to mention, typically servers get bigger tips when the bill is separated so what the big deal?) long story short, the food is mediocre, the service is atrocious. honestly, even the prices for what you end up getting is laughable. but if you want to stomach all that for a decent view.. go for it but make sure to set your expectations LOW. read more

Food was terrible. Ordered the Waterfront burger, watress never asked how we wanted it cooked. After she left we realized she did not ask, so we flagged her down and asked for it mium rare, she seemed put off by are request and commented that all tehir burgers are done medium well. But she never said this, the first burger brought was way iover cooked, no pink what so ever. We called the watress over and showed her, she resoponded, I can see if they will take it back." ... waht we ordered medium rare and got well done. She took it away but was obviously annoyed. Ten minutes later she brough another one back, this one so are the middle was raw. we gave up. Waitress never came back to ask how second burger was. I had the 1/2 rack of ribs that tasted like they were made in a pressure cooker and then coated with BBQ sauce , the silver skin was never removed and they were mediocre at best. Worst Experience Ever !! Checked in with the hostess in the outside deck area and was told it would be just a few minutes. The hostess gave me a pager and I said we would be at the bar. We were at the bar having a drink and it seemed like too much time had gone by. We decided to see what the hold up was. I went to the hostess station and noticed that she had seated 5 tables after us and asked why we hadn't been seated. She said she paged us but our pager must be broke. She said we would be next and to hold on to the pager (I said why bother its broke right?).. So I said we would be at the bar. She came and got us about 5 minutes later. At this point we had been there for over an hour. She tried to seat us in the back of the covered area but we asked to pull two tables together and sit near the front so we could enjoy the view (there were 5 of us). Now we are at least seated and ready to eat we are starved. We watched two waitresses come and go to the other tables that were up there and even tried to wave one of them down, nobody came over. After about 15-20 minutes one of us went back to the hostess asked to speak to the manager. The hostess said she would come to our table, I head back to the table. Yes we should have just left I don't know why we didn't. I guess I was still holding out some kind of hope this night could be salvaged. I was wrong. A waitress comes to our table explained that they were busy and that they were down a staff member. I had pointed out tables where patrons had been seated after us were now done eating and leaving and we hadn't even placed our order. The waitress offers us a round of drinks seeing that we had been sitting there with nothing now for about 30 minutes. We ordered drinks and food at the same time worried we wouldn't get another chance. The restaurant had a clam special 2-4-1 so we asked for the clams and our dinners thinking we could at least start with the clams. Wrong...... Over 30 minutes later we had gone back to the hostess station and I said I wanted to talk to the manager and that somebody needed to come out and talk to us. The hostess said you already talked to the manager, I was shocked that the waitress that had come over to the table never said she was a manager, she just told us that although this is not her section she would be willing to help. The hostess said she would send the manager out again. I explained the whole situation to him (a different manager) and I asked for our meal to be comped he said ok, walked to the POS system and did something. 5 minutes later our food finally came out. We have now been here for 21/2 hours and were finally getting our food. The waitress brought our meals out and asked if we needed anything else. We asked for tarter sauce for the broiled seafood platters and she said tarter sauce doesn't normally come with the broiled seafood platter ( I am thinking how am I suppose to know, but who cares I want some) and then ask where our clams were that we ordered. The waitress explains that the clams were comped so we don't get them. Here we go again... we said that the manager just comped them and the food had already been cooked so how can they not be ready and how can you comp something you never received? The waitress still argued with us about it but after about 10 minutes another waitress bring them out and practically throws them on the table and says here's your clams. Now the check comes and its for $93 and change. So we ask the waitress why our bill wasn't comped and she said the manager took off two of the dinners and the clams. We had explained that the manager said he would comp the bill but she said that was all he was going to do. We decided enough was enough, paid the bill, left a tip for the waitress (she at least came back and asked how are food was and asked if we needed anything else) and left. Now it was completely dark and we had to drive back on our boat in the dark. I don't plan on going back. read more

Tonight for Mothers Day dinner we went to The Waterfront Tavern. What a beautiful venue with the great view on the outside deck. The service from our waitress was ok, but the food was terrible. The appetizers were average, but the dinners came and this is how it went. Chicken Marsala I ordered was dry, tasteless and no Marsala sauce of any kind served over dry angel hair. My friends Chicken Riggies was a slop puréed mess over pasta, also not edible. Her Daughters grilled cheese sandwich was not grilled and the cheese wasn't even melted. And don't order spaghetti, cuz you will get under cooked penne. As we paid our overly priced bill, the table behind us also sent their food back. New ownership has taken place Is my understanding, but they hopefully change the cooking staff. It by far was the worst experience I have had in a long time!
