Have been here 3 times since moving to Edenton. The tuna and seaweed salad was good. The service was ok. The last time the service was not good. the hostesses preferred to sit down while on their phone snapchattiing. one of our meals came out a good 15 minutes after everyone else's food. Half the food was cold. Really wanted to like this place but not at all impressed with the service here. It has went down hill more each time we have went In the past month. read more

I got fried shrimp and it was so good. these are big shrimp. we also got butter grilled shrimp which needs a little garlic. the fries were very hot and seasoned. the hushpuppies are to die for. we had a great time seeing Edenton. read more

Meh...The Caesar salad was delicious, love the lighter dressing. The drinks were cheap. I ordered the 'peeled' shrimp with green beans. The small previously frozen shrimp were not peeled. The green beans were overcooked. Second entree was the Fisherman's Trio, same nasty shrimp along with poor quality over cooked scallops which were very small, poor texture. Described as 'nasty' they were not finished. The crab unremarkable, tasteless. Baked potato was the best thing on the plate. 3 Stars you ask...they deducted off of the bill the entire entree of the peeled shrimp. Fair practice and appreciated. We certainly left a tip for the entire bill, not our waitress's fault. Based upon our experience we will not be returning for more than drinks. Just dined at the Waterman's. Meal was mediocre at best. My wife enjoyed the crab stuffed flounder, but my Rockfish (striped bass) was very bland and overcooked (tough and not tasty; may have been frozen/refrozen). Salt helped some and I powered thru it... Waitress did offer to exchange it for something else but I didn't think anything else would be much better. I think we'll try The Table next time. read more

The food here is really great. The only BIG problem I had was with the service. The waitress let my drink run out twice. I sat dry for a LONG time including about 10 minutes after my food came out. She didn't tell us about the specials. Guess she doesn't need good tips. read more

We had a great meal last night . Stopped in at 630 pm to see if we could get seating for 9 people at 7:30 pm . The owner was taking names for the exit list . He was very accommodating !!! Your waitress was amazing !!! Drinks came quick and appetizers were good . Prime rib was sold out so I had the lobster ravioli. Very good and big portion . We visited family in Edenton and took them out for a great dinner (Best meal of our trip!). My husband ordered Bourbon Glazed Salmon which he really enjoyed! Everyone fully enjoyed their dinner,drinks, appetizers amazing service too! Each time we visit we always look forward to dining with you! I highly recommended this delicious food with best quality seafood, fresh salad, wonderful onion rings and more. My only problem is we're back in upstate NY and my husbands birthday is Friday and he would love to have that salmon? I don't know where I might find a recipe or fresh salmon? Went for an early dinner on a Wednesday night - we were seated immediately and our waitress Kayla came to the table quickly. I ordered two appetizers instead of an entree. I had the crab stuffed mushrooms which was very generous and a serving of hush puppies which were crispy on the outside and nice and soft on the inside. My husband had the broiled grouper with a crab cake. He did find a few bones in his fish but he said it was tasty. This place has a retro 70's feel so I decided to order an Old Fashioned from the bar - it was cold and strong! Kayla was a great server and we were satisfied with our experience. My wife and I had an early dinner tonight at the Waterman's Grill. Nice location, good vibe, friendly staff. My wife's fish tacos were great. My fried oyster entree was terrible. Grossly overcooked, whatever oysters were involved were baked into shrunken nothingness, surrounded by burnt coating. When asked "How are the oysters?" My pregnant pause was immediately greeted with "They're bad, aren't they?" She volunteered that kitchen and wait staff both knew they were problematic, but decided to serve them anyway to see if I'd accept them as is. I did not, and in hindsight they should never have put them in front of me. To their credit, they prepared a second plate for me, and comped it all. This was the right solution, and though the second batch easily bested the first, I can earnestly suggest you should find something else on the menu. read more

My host at the B&B told me that this was not the best option in town - the best option is supposed to be Sean's, but Sean doesn't open on a Mondya or a Tuesday, so this was my only option. And what a fine option it was - let me count the ways: 1. $11 for a dozen oysters - at dinner time ! plus they actualy gave me about 16. 2. A fine selection of NC microbrews. 3. Great menu options - I had the blackened fish - really good. 4. Family owned, great crowd, friendly staff and plenty of banter at the bat as we watched the Hurricanes - Bruins game. I told my fellow bar flys that I too was rooting for the 'Canes as it would give the Caps home ice advantage in the Eastern final. Ouch. 5. Best of all - they serve beer to go so I took a fine six pack back to my porch and enjoyed one of those splendid Spring nights in the south where the temperature is perfect and the mosquitos have yet to make their presence felt. Watermans is an Edenton NC locals place. My Parents always take us thereI was checking the Yelp reviews and was suprised at some of the negative comments, I DISAGREE. Now the food in Edenton should not be compared to large metro areas. As a foodie, I found the food perfect acceptable, above average and the chefs willingness to create exactly what you want. Being a small town the locals get their drinks ( My Mothers Vodka. Gimlet) Just the way she likes. Food seems fresh and creatively prepared. Service was friendly and attentive. read more

Stopped in for an early mid-week dinner with my hubby. Nice atmosphere, friendly service. Food was good. I ordered the shrimp & crabmeat and was thrilled that I didn't have to struggle w/ the shell to get the meat. Got a steamed head of broccoli as my side w/ hollandaise. Food was fresh and tastes and arrived quickly. My hubby had the blackened shrimp fettuccine and said it was good as well. Price seems average to slightly below average for a coastal seafood place. Consistently great food and service. The fried shrimp are not to be missed. The small order of 6 is plenty of food as the shrimp are very large ... if that makes sense. The flounder dinner is amazing either fried or broiled. If you are lucky and rockfish is on the menu get it. Ask for rolls instead of hushpuppies with this dish as you will want to clean your plate of every bit of the buttery bacon sauce. This meal ranks as one of the best in my memory and I have traveled the world for many years. Waterman's is a small town gem. Outstanding food without the big city glitz or prices. read more

We have eaten here only once. We had clam chowder, ribeye, spinach, crab cakes, cheese potatoes, and salads. The clam chowder was excellent. The other food just had no flavor. Tried three different sauces to try to eat crab cakes and just couldn't eat them. The steak was kinda tough and chewy ( and didn't order it well). We had bread pudding for dessert. It had way too much sauce on it for our taste but it was good and is a large serving...perfect to share. We had great service and the atmosphere is nice. i had fried flounder, it was good (but too much) with crab cake. The sides were a bit strange to me. The stewed tomatoes were too sweet and the baked corn tasted like it had liquid smoke in them. But service was excellent and Edenton is a real gem of a town to i highly recommend a visit. read more
