I stopped at Waterman's for an appetizer. Ordered the raw oysters. They served them at room temperature which I found odd. They were okay. We got right in on a Saturday night at 6pm with no wait. We were greeted right at the door and quickly sat at our table. I had the cashew encrusted tilapia and my girlfriend had the pan seared grouper. Our appetizers arrived well before the meal and we split crab bites and onion rings. They were served at the right temperatures and were cooked perfectly. My party had both the crab dip and the crab bites to start our meal. Both were excellent. As flavorful as can be. For dinner, we all had fish. Two of us had stuffed flounder and the other had salmon. Great ambience. Awesome location right by the water. Priced well. Staff was very friendly. My daughter had a prime rib special cooked as ordered. My husband had a burger and fries, which were fresh and tasted good. I ordered lightly steamed Virginia oysters, which came out mushy (from being over steamed) and full of sand. I alerted our waitress and she was very apologetic. She took them back and I ordered the steamed shrimp. The shrimp were done perfectly and flavored nicely. I had dinner here twice while working in Edenton. The 1st night I had the large Flounder stuffed with crabmeat which was good, the side salads were very fresh as well. Went there for our Anniversary dinner while visiting in Edenton, NC. The food was good and plenty of it. I had the Prime rib and my wife had the Surf and Turf. The wait staff were pleasant and an attentive. Our only complaint was that we had chose to eat upstairs to get away from the bar and noise that surrounded it. This was the most unorganized poor quality Restaurant in Edenton, NC. It was highly recommended by our Hotel. This is a really cool place to go in Edenton. I was really hesitant to go because of the yelp reviews but I did anyway. The town folk seem to like it quite a bit. However, we did adjust our pallets to try and stay away from seafood being that is what most of the bad reviews are about. My girlfriend couldn't really decide on anything else so she did give the shrimp a try with a house salad. She said the shrimp was good and the house salad was great. I was a little upset that I was unable to get the prime rib because someone had ordered the last of it before me, but I decided to have the ribeye instead. It was great, I asked for medium rare and probably came medium, but I don't mind all that much. If I cared that much, I would have asked for rare and worked from there. I had broccoli as a side, and it was pretty close to a full head of broccoli. Nonetheless it was great. Overall a pretty good experience. There are some young people working there though and in my older days I tend to stay closer to the places with the middle aged employees. The Waterman's Grill is surrounded by farm land, is on the water but does not seem to take advantage of the resources that are around it.
