    Braised Lamb shank
    Steven T.

The Watermill consistently delivers to the customer a superior experience in catering. Today we were at a wedding and the food/service was just amazing!!! The cocktail hour was just over the top with a bountiful of fresh sushi, stuffed pasta, prosciutto, maple bacon, mussels. Really there was too much and I had all my attention on the sushi!!! For dinner, the selections were just over the top! I ordered the braised lamb shank (see photo) which was so delicious. All the entrees from osso bucco to the filet minion and the sea bass. Mike the bartender was on his game today as were the entire staff! I forget my waiters name (he had a bracelet that said "Hope"). He was great!!! This is the place for your special event!

Came here for a wedding last weekend and it was great. The staff was overall excellent and led the event in a kind and organized way. Bartenders made excellent drinks and had great vibes. The cocktail hour food was quite tasty and had many options for people with different dietary requirements and restrictions

I wasn't sure what to expect after reading the mixed reviews. I was here as a guest for a wedding... I did park my own car based on some of these reviews and had absolutely no problems at all, ample parking and not a far walk to the front door. The wedding was in the outside area, a little cold for March but what the bride wants the bride gets !!! The cocktail hour and dinner were in 2 separate spaces inside and everything flowed really well. The food was delicious and there was so much variety, even for the sit down meal there were maybe 8 or more choices (including seafood and vegetarian/vegan) Items at cocktail hour were mostly all labeled including things like GF. Last but not least, the most important part of my review, THE STAFF!!!! The bartenders, serving staff and all the customer facing employees i met were absolutely spectacular!!!! Shout out to Michelangelo (i think i read that right) he was so attentive and constantly made his way around the room checking on guests, clearing tables, taking drink orders...so A ++ for him! I don't know about the other side of this event space but as a guest, it was lovely!!

Came here for my nephews wedding, this isn't the first time I've come for a wedding here, and I'm always pleasantly surprised. The food is very good, the cocktail hour has great variety, dinner if so yum, the decor outside makes for amazing pictures, and very spacious. Overall always a great time

The day of the wedding was busy. We had to get ready and be on time for the shuttle van. My friend who was with me in the hotel was in the party was taking up all the time because she was waiting on her limousine. We all had one destination, "Watermill Caterers." Outside the valet was hard at work parking cars and making room for the vans. The outside of the Watermill spoke elegance. We walked through the building to the back for the ceremony. It was outside with a beautiful backdrop. The bride looked incredible and the Watermill made her seem like a star. After the ceremony we walked back inside to the cocktail hour. They had outdoor and indoor available. Now when it came to the food, they had too much! I say this as a compliment. I couldn't believe the selections. My friend tried beef wellington for the first time and feel in love. I'm glad he tried this one because it was amazing. They offered shrimp, meat and cheese the entire time. After we headed to the main hall located downstairs. It was large and seated two hundred people easily. I need to give my thanks to the staff. No glass was empty, they were quick and very polite. Again, I have to point out, they had eight or nine entrées to choose from. I never heard of so many choices! The bad part is they only let you pick one. I took the chicken parmesan, but quickly felt like I should have tried something different. Not because it was bad, it's because everything looked great. The DJ also made eating hard. The music kept making me want to get up and dance. I have to say, I definitely busted a few moves that night. I am all in regarding this catering hall. If I get married....wait, maybe I will recommend this place to someone, so I can definitely attend and try the lamb, or maybe the filet mignon.

Our wedding day was absolutely perfect ! Our Maitre D Nick and Bridal Attendant Ella were AMAZING all night. Our guests said they had the best time and they were all raving about how delicious the food was. We are so happy with everything and couldn't have asked for anything more. Thank you so much!

    Vases that where thrown away.
    Wesley M.

This review is long overdue, but still upsetting. We got married at the Watermill on June 24, 2021. In our contract with our florist the agreement stated that the vases used are to be returned within 1-2 days following the event. A $300 security deposit was charged to us with the understanding that this would be reversed once the vases were returned. In our contract it stated that each broken/missing vase would cost $45 dollars each. We had a total of 14 vases which would amount to $630. The night of our wedding we stayed at a nearby hotel and were told that we could come back the following day to collect the arch we left. We were not coming back to Watermill to collect vases as they were to be loaded up in the designated vehicle the night of our wedding. We were shocked once we got back to Queens (where we live); prepared to return the vases and realized that they were not with the other items. After calling Watermill we were informed by Nick that they were thrown away. Why anyone would throw away perfectly good vases is beyond us. We were then fed multiple lies such as the florist telling Watermill to throw them away according to Nick and also that Watermill tried to contact the owner about collecting the vases and they refused to collect according to Brian. We were left in the deficit concerning these vases. We understood our contract and agreement and we were being consulted concerning every minute detail the day of the wedding. We are really disappointed that something as major as 14 glass vases being thrown away was not something we would be asked about. After spending over $25k here, to be refused compensation of $300 for a mistake they made is dumbfounding.

Pork Osso Bucco (sorry for poor quality)
    Dan M.

This was an elegant and very spacious spot. The service was top notch as well. There was plenty of food at the cocktail hour ranging from pretzels, a bacon bar, tacos, an antipasto table, carving station, sushi, etc. My only complaint about the food was the sushi I had was extremely fishy, but besides that, great start to the reception. To start the dinner, there was a tomato and mozzarella caprese salad. It was fresh and presented nicely, no complaints here. For my entrée, I had the pork osso bucco. There was about 7 or so items to choose from, which was a pleasant surprise. The osso bucco came with celery root mashed potatoes and vegetables. The pork was very tender and plenty of it. The mashed potatoes were outstanding though, very creamy. My only complaint was the lack of sauce present on the pork shank. For dessert, besides the cake, there was a small ice cream stick with a chocolate layer and a mini cheesecake piece. All were good when mixed with one another. That was what I ended up doing for some reason, first time for everything! Will I go back? Yes.

I received a phone call about ten minutes later. They ran out of brisket! The owner Chris called me personally. He offered several reasonable substitutions, but we really wanted the brisket. Chris was very pleasant, personable and polite. He instructed me to call back next Thursday through Sunday, as those are the only days the brisket is sold. The owner apologized for the inconvenience, and said he would include extra brisket in our upcoming order to compensate for their shortage. Chris said to simply place a reminder in the notes on the third party app. He made the resolution so simple! We ordered yesterday, and indicated Chris' instructions on the third party app. The order was delivered quickly and perfectly! The brisket was well worth waiting for, and the restaurant definitely gave us extra meat, as promised. The meat fell right off the fork. I didn't even need to use a knife. This is melt in your mouth brisket, complete with the smoke ring. Real deal. We requested that they put the marinade on the side. Like any good piece of meat, the marinade was complementary, but not necessary. It was just like when you go to an exceptional steakhouse, if the meat is high quality, steak sauce and additional condiments are not required. The corn bread was homemade, soft and tasty. The fries were nicely seasoned and very fresh. The coleslaw and onion rings were excellent. The macaroni and cheese was an interesting blend of shell pasta with a thick peppery cheese sauce. Very good. I would definitely recommend this eatery. Everything was amazing. I will be a repeat customer. I would also like to thank Chris personally for his professionalism and excellent customer service. You should try them if you are looking for great barbecue! A+++

"Up in Smoke" (UIS) is a fitting name for this business. It is a term used when a plan fails or…read morecomes to nothing. It is also a term used to describe something destroyed by fire. I wish I could say fire was used in the preparation of the food I sampled, but it may have not been used. I take you to the 4th of July 2023. I attended a party which used brisket purchased from this business. A business that falsely describes, on its corporate web site, its brisket as "smoked brisket". See attached picture from company web site. Note: brisket is the most popular meat for smoking, followed in popularity by pork butt, pork shoulder and ribs. The UIS brisket had zero smoked flavor, and tasted and looked like pot roast (brisket is always sliced against the grain and this was not the case here. There were strings of meat when it fell apart). It had the texture of a chuck roast, cooked as pot roast and then sliced in the shape of brisket slices, though not as long. I emailed an owner named Jeff a few days later to voice my concern. He's apparently in denial. Claims the brisket is now Au Ju's style. Meaning, Cooked in liquid. Conveniently not mentioned on their web site. Again, see picture from web site taken today. Au Ju's is kept a secret from those browsing the web site. Why would a bbq business prepare the most popular smoked cut of meat a different way? I don't know. I can speculate two possibilities. One is laziness. Smoking takes time and effort. Throwing brisket in liquid to cook is easy, yet yields horrible bbq results. The other is difficulty smoking wherever they were smoking. Neighbors often complain about smoke in the air. Happened to Smokin' Al's in Massapequa. Their proper solution for Al's was to smoke food elsewhere. Back to the situation at hand. So Jeff tells me that they sell 3000 pounds of brisket annually and I am the first to complain it isn't smoked by a business built on and around smoke. Laughable. I offered to bring in samples of the alleged beef brisket to demonstrate that it is probably fake and chuck roast instead but my offer was ignored. That says a lot about this business. Jeff claimed that all customers are notified of the Au Jus preparation and I confirmed that was not the case here.
