On the day of the appointment, it was very hot but John and his coworker from wave guard were very kind and I had asked if they could saw down the old door to fit it in my recycling bit and it was no problem for them. I'm so happy this morning as our home feels very refreshed thanks to this company. I've had a list of things that needed repairs or replacing so I was careful to choose a reputable company. Contact person: "Anna" - So helpful and prompt. She is detailed kept in touch as well as being patient on my part. "John" - Kept in touch and came on time. Very friendly and hard worker. He let me know of anything that needed changes, etc. as he went along. "Vlad" - Another hard worker and very confident with my list of much needed fixes. He also let me know what he was doing exactly as he went along. I honestly thought that my list would be handled on at least two or more visits but they were all done in one day! Here is my list of completed work: *FRONT DOOR - old one removed, new door, frame, trim, and handle installed. *SECURITY SCREEN DOOR AND HANDLE- installed. LARGE HOLES IN WALL - patched and painted. *BEDROOM DOORWAY GAPS - filled with laminate strips. *BROKEN HALLWAY DOOR HINGE - repaired. *ROTTED BATHROOM VENT - replaced. *KITCHEN CABINET PULLS - replaced. *BROKEN KITCHEN CEILING LIGHT - wires adjusted and new cover replaced. The guys who came over and did the work were awesome (Arthur and John). They were good communicators, polite, had a humble and earnest attitude, worked hard, and did an excellent job in a timely fashion. They had to dig a 3 foot deep by 2 foot deep hole, fill it with concrete, and install a metal base in the concrete and attach a large cantilever umbrella. At the end, they distributed the earth removed from the hole to appropriate places we requested across the yard. They company scheduled them to come quickly, like the day after I agreed to use them. They showed up on time. When they left, they left things generally in order. Overall our experience was excellent. They are not getting 5 stars because of the following... The problems related to pricing. Once they were about halfway through the job, they then let me know there would be an additional charge to remove the dirt that was taken out to create the hole. What?! I would expect that to be a core, basic part of the job. You can't dig a hole, install an umbrella on the patio and then leave piles of dirt surrounding the patio. They charged and extra $220 for what was probably about an hour, MAYBE 2 hours, of work for one person to take care of the dirt. They also estimated the cost of materials at $100 in the quote process. When the invoice appeared, the costs were over $200. After noting both these issues, they reduced the price which still landed it about 80% higher than the initial quote. I would work with them again, in fact I have two projects I plan to run by them, but I will insist on a fixed price project or maybe an hourly rate. If they won't do that, I'll probably not use them again. read more
