Stopped by this place on a whim! Was a really good choice for a casual but nice dinner on a Wednesday. Very friendly staff--Zach or Zack (unsure of his spelling) was great!!! He took care of us. The orange wine was funky, just how I like it. The cocktails were not too strong, and very flavorful and refreshing. Apps especially the ceviche (not pictured) were unique, light, and so tasty. The braised beef dish was so tender. The Cesar salad was good, and the fluffy big baked croutons w/cheese inside was unique but a little too rich for my taste. It could've used a little more salad dressing too. And the chicken added to it was quite dry and not flavorful. We would come back. :)
First visit and loved everything about this place! Location is so good, indoor/outdoor seating, cute ambiance, and delicious food. The cesar salad is a must!!! The double double was also so good! Server was very friendly and attentive to us. He found out it was my birthday and brought me a little dessert too!
The ambiance at Waverly is unmatched. It's very laid back and makes me feel like I'm on vacation. We have always done walk in and usually get seated even though we do not have a reservation. Come early though (before 11AM)! For brunch I ended up ordering the grilled ham and cheese sandwich. It has a sunny side eye on top along with prosciutto and creamy Gruyère cheese sauce. Looks like an art piece! Super yummy and decently priced. Service is tentative and waitress was super friendly and enjoyed our conversation. We will have to come back for their lunch hours as a few items caught my eye.
Very Beautiful and relaxing place First time visiting from LA and I would definitely consider coming back every time I visit La Jolla. The service is quick and fast. They are absolutely professional, not like the type of servers who come to your table with weird body language and very high tones." BTW this is something I always pay attention to" The food was delicious! I got the avocado toast with sunny side up and my husband got the turkish poached eggs and he also loved it. The beverages were fantastic as well. My matcha Latte was very warm and lovely. The red drink is on the healthy shot list, sorry I can't recall the name at this moment but it was very refreshing. Waverly in Cardiff is a great brunch spot with a lively vibe and beautiful interior decor. The menu is nicely curated, offering everything from savory options like the Sonoma lamb shawarma wrap and sausage egg sandwiches to fun dishes like funfetti pancakes and crème brûlée French toast. Visited on Easter Sunday and was pleasantly surprised to be seated right away. The live DJ spinning vinyl added a fun touch--starting with upbeat tunes and later switching to soulful oldies, which felt a bit unexpected but still enjoyable. Located in a shopping plaza with plenty of parking, next to an açaí spot and a pizza place. Ordered the lamb shawarma wrap and an Aplós Ume Spritz--the drink was refreshing, and while the wrap was a good size, it leaned a bit bland. The crispy potatoes on the side were a highlight. Food took about 20 minutes but came out well-prepared overall.
Had a great brunch experience here! The food here is great and the vibe is even better. Love the laidback feel and was very surprised that they had a DJ playing live. SHAKSHOUKA * 18 This was super yummy. They use San Marzano tomatoes, which are the best tomatoes for any type of tomato sauces (not to mention marinara). The poached egg on top was also cooked perfectly, and the sourdough bread was the right balance of crispy and chewy. CREME BRULEE FRENCH TOAST * 16 This was better than I expected. Not sure what I was imagining for a creme brulee french toast, but they really captured the creme brulee flavor and texture. The french toast did't come with syrup, so if you're big on that, this might not be one for you. The sweetness was perfect in my opinion, and the fruits were very fresh. BREAKFAST RICE BOWL * 18 My friend got this one, so I can't quite speak for him, but he seemed to really enjoy it. The scrambled eggs looked fluffy and the greens looked fresh. Great macro options if you're looking to not crash after brunch. DARK HORSE * 19 This was a great drink! Well mixed and the flavors were good, I'm not surprised that it's a staple on the drinks menu (they have seasonal cocktails). My friend who comes here often recommended it and I agree with him. I would definitely get this again. THE WAVERLY * 19 If you're a gin fan, this is a great option. Another staple on their cocktail menu. Gin isn't my go-to, but I decided to give this a try, seeing that it was at the top of the menu. I'm glad I did because it was good. The service was great here, even though it's quite busy on weekends. I think it would be best to make a reservation and arrive early since parking can be an issue. The decor inside is very nice and the booth seats are super comfy. Not sure if the DJ is always there, but it can be a bit loud if you are looking for some place quiet for conversation, but if you aren't it's a really great vibe.
Very cute brunch spot. I loved the decor and the ambiance. They even had a live DJ! There were plenty of food options, including classic brunch items, rice bowls, and unique food dishes as well. It was very packed in the restaurant, so unfortunately service was a bit slow and it was hard to flag somebody down for water refills as the glass was very small. I tried the baja rice bowls. I liked how healthy it tasted, but it was lacking in flavor as there was barely any sauce. Wish I got one of the sandwiches or burgers as those looked tasty. Definitely seems like a cute brunch spot to drink at and hang with the girls.
Waverly has a nice vibe and we were seated quickly, which was a good start. Service was mixed: the staff were polite enough, but we had to ask four different people for a highchair before one finally appeared. The restaurant wasn't particularly busy, yet it took nearly an hour from ordering to getting our food - a long wait for what arrived. Portions are tiny and the prices are on the high side, so value felt off. My burger was just average - nothing special, though my husband enjoyed his dish more. It's OK if you're not in a rush and don't mind paying premium for modest plates, but it didn't wow us.
Just stopped in for a relaxing Sunday night meal on Super Bowl Sunday and it was pleasantly spacious and relaxed with some old-school R&B playing while the sun was setting. That alone is worth a review. But then we dive into the trout ceviche with shrimp chips that are fantastic, and all the flavors are lined up and perfect. After that, I'll do a Beef Rioja before either the butterscotch pudding or the sticky toffee date cake. I love this place!
TL;DR: drinks are good but the egg sando is best! I usually come for the drinks and the ambiance. This time was no different - the drinks were all well-balanced and tasty However, this time was a little hungrier than normal so I also ordered the egg sandwich and wow! I'll be getting this every time I come back! Large 1/4-cut jammy eggs on top of crunchy toast. I understand the price is probably not exactly great but for the amount of flavor packed into each bite, totally worth it! Service was great as per usual and of course love the ambiance! Every single dish we had a Waverly was amazing. This is one of those spots that you dream about going back to. Our favorite was the Short Rib however the menu changes seasonally so there is always something new to excite. Cocktails were great as well! read more
Ambience is top notch. You can view the ocean in the distance while enjoying high quality food The farm Benedict was outstanding. Defiantly more quality than quantity. I could have eaten two orders. The potato's were so delicious. Everything here is top notch. Friendly service close to the ocean. It's next door to The seaside market. Make sure to buy your chipotle tri tip from there. read more

I came yesterday here with one of my girlfriends on a rainy day after consignment shopping. We were about 30 minutes early for our reservation since consignment shopping was not very fruitful. We were able to sit down early on the patio, which is covered and heated. It was quite nice we kicked off our brunch with oatmeal iced lattes. My friend had the Turkish poached eggs and I ordered the chicken sandwich. Both were great and when the food runner dropped off our order he asked if we needed anything and I said yes some hot sauce for my chicken sandwich but he never came back. Luckily, I had the tiniest bottles in my purse and I was able to make it work on my end. That attention to detail I think would have made it 5 stars. read more

5*s all around for Waveryly! The food was epic! I loved everything I ordered. I ordered the short rib, whipped ricotta, and Caesar salad. My 10-year-old niece loved her burger and they even have a dog menu! My dog loved her surf and turf. Also, we had amazing service and was sat very quickly. The decor is very boho and aesthetic. We sat outside and loved the view of the ocean. I can't wait to come back! read more

Manage your expectations, this place is BAD! First of all, came in when my reservation was supposed to be at 11:30 for a party at eight. They hadn't even set up a table yet. 10 minutes later it was ready, so we walked back only to find the table set for six people instead of eight ....a couple minutes later, they gave us one more chair... still only 7 chairs for 8 people?? One of the guests in my party is just standing there while my boyfriend goes and asks the host if we can have one more chair since they never gave us enough and she's all frazzled looking like she doesn't know what we're talking about. After we were finally sat, I snuck up to the bar to ask a server to throw in a surprise breakfast shot for the birthday boy. She seemed so excited and obliged.. surprise, that never came out. Don't even get me started on our server. Pretty sure this guy didn't even introduce himself. He was tall blonde surfer looking dude with facial hair. This is the type of guy who only got hired purely because of his "vibe" I doubt he has ever severed before because he lacked any sort of personal interaction with us. Instead of going around taking our order, he just stood at the end of the table, not speaking, just staring at us, waiting for us to order without saying a word. Those of us on the opposite end of the table had to yell across for him to hear our orders. While he just nonchalantly stood there giving us absolutely nothing. Didn't check on our food once it arrived until all of us were basically done so I couldn't even tell him that my poached eggs were hard boiled along with two other people's in my party. I had a suspicion that automatic gratuity was included for parties over certain number; only to have this suspicion confirmed when he dropped off a check. 20% for giving us literally the worst birthday meal out I've ever experienced. Seriously hire someone with any inkling of how to do a customer service job. I've had better interactions with people at the DMV than this guy. Not to mention it was my boyfriend's 25th birthday, which I had put on the reservation and in the notes, only for nobody to acknowledge it. I 100% will never come back to this place. It sucked and the food was mid; just another souless Instagram aesthetic restaurants with no sustenance or personality.. read more

Food was amazing! We first got two mocktails. The rosebud and the bodega baby. I liked the subtle flavors of the rosebud. And my husband liked the stronger flavor of the bodega baby. It was like a tiki drink We had the pickled potatoes appetizer, the grilled oysters, the Caesar salad with shrimp, and the pork chop dish. The salad was amazing. I had a great experience at Waverly, and a big part of that was thanks to my server, Michael. Super friendly, attentive without hovering, and you can tell he actually cares about making sure you enjoy your meal. I asked for recommendations from the menu and he gave some great pointers. The chicken was hands down the highlight. Perfectly cooked, crispy skin, and so flavorful I was tempted to order a second round just for myself. The surprise standout was the pickled potatoes! I didn't even know that was a thing, but they were so tangy, crunchy, and paired well with the crème fraîche sauce. Honestly you could skip the steak (not worth the price) but the rest of the food was delicious, especially the butterscotch pudding (that I failed to capture a picture of before it was all gone). Always a lovely time at Waverly. Hubby and I had made a resy weeks ago and we were pleasantly surprised when we were reminded of it last night! Arrived for our reservation and were promptly seated in the perfect spot. Max was our server and he took great care of us! When we sat, our infant was sleeping in the carrier and Max kindly offered a blanket to cover her so she wouldn't wake. Very thoughtful. Eventually, she joined the party and enjoyed some scrambled eggs with us. We ordered the Kona Old Fashioned, Raspberry Rhubarb Spritz, Caesar salad, Turkish Poached Eggs, and the sausage egg sandwich. We have literally never have a bad meal here. The salad was the star of the show today - the croutons are life-size and they will amaze you. Just order it and you will see. Our meals were tasty and served quickly. The Sunday DJ was lovely and we enjoyed the beats with our bevys. Also, shout out to Virginia, the manager, who gifted me a topo Chico on our way out. She was so kind and helped out serving, cleaning up, and bussing all day! If you haven't been to Waverly, make a reservation and go. Their dinner menu is phenomenal as well! read more
Absolutely love this place. My husband and I always sit at the bar. The bartenders are awesome and will make the most delicious custom drinks using high quality ingredients. They also have a fun cocktail menu that they update periodically. We had the salad with shrimp and the poached eggs last time. So tasty and fresh. Love that they have a large selection of additive free tequila. My favorite drink will always be their tequila espresso martini. Love that they make it with fresh espresso too. If I could give a zero I would. First off we had a reservation, to the be told there would be a 30-40 min wait, kind of defeats the purpose of a reservation. We were then sat at the small round tables by the bar for our family if 4, and was told by staff thats all they had. Ultimately we were moved outside by the stairs, like yesterday's minority. Coming from Chicago 3 years ago I have been waiting to sit, eat and chill inside with the fam. The food was mid, I could do the same at home...and way overpriced as I had 1/2 a chicken for $30 ish bucks. ,I couldn't even vibe because the music was barely heard. Overall the night with my out of town guests was a huge let down! Oh and the cherry, my check was $118 and I gave my server $150 case, who said " oh thanks" and walked away without bringing my change..so I tipped a hefty 28% ...please do better! read more
Came here on a Saturday morning for brunch! We had reservations and were seated immediately, but they seated us at the very outer corner outside by the parking lot (not pictured) even though several tables were unoccupied inside which was a bit disappointing. I had asked if there was any possibility we could get seated inside and the hostess said she would check but never followed up with me. Otherwise, service was decent - it took a little while to order but our server was friendly, and he gave us a mini butterscotch pudding when he heard we were celebrating a birthday! I ordered the breakfast rice bowl and my husband ordered the shakshouka. Both tasted good but the portions were a bit on the smaller side for the price. I was content from my bowl but my husband was still hungry after finishing his shakshouka and ate a whole bowl of Panda Express after. Our friends got the smoked salmon scramble and crème brûlée French toast which both looked good but were also pretty small portions. Overall, I think you're paying more for the aesthetics and vibes of the place because it's super cute, but we didn't get to enjoy it as much since we were sitting away from it all. If you love aesthetic / vibes, I would recommend checking it out and requesting to be seated inside! read more
Such an awesome dinner experience! We were welcomed by the hostess and only had to wait about 20 minutes for a table. The waitress promptly took our drink order and was very attentive throughout dinner. The decor was very modern and it provided a comfortable and relaxing ambiance. We ordered the salmon and the ceviche and both were fantastic! The fish was light and fresh and definitely hit the spot. The chips in the ceviche were pretty small, but the light nature of the dish was refreshing. I also ordered a bodega baby, which was a great blend of flavors and paired well with the seafood dishes. Stopped in to grab a drink before grocery shopping at Seaside Market. They had happy hour at the bar on a Sunday. Great selection of beers, wines, and cocktails. Really enjoyed the Bodega Boy ($9.5 with mezcal, toasted rice coconut, lime and mango), a nicely balanced cocktail along with a cool sunset view. Lots of outdoor seating and a place for kids to play out front that allows parents to keep an eye on them and enjoy the cute ambiance. Def paying them another visit for food. read more

Such a cute place to grab brunch with my friend! Loved the interior design and the vibes. Everyone was so nice and friendly. Our server freya (sorry if I spelled your name wrong) was so friendly and great service! My friend and I split the eggs Benedict and the crème brûlée French toast. Perfect balance of savory and sweet to split together. The potatoes were my favorite on the eggs Benedict I wish there was more! There is a lot of parking in this area and other cute little shops you can walk around. I would def go back and try their lunch/dinner menu. read more

Overall, we had a good experience with one minor thing that could be better. Ambiance was great. It was such a pretty cute place with a cool vibe. Service was good too. Staff was friendly and since this was a birthday celebration, the celebrant received a custard type dessert with a candle. The Turkish egg was good since my friend finished it. French toast was so pretty to eat but it was delicious too. The only thing that could be better was the egg salad. It was very salty. I had to ask for lemon to squashed the saltiness. Came here to celebrate Galentine's Day. Ambiance of course delivered (super cute aesthetic). Loved the open air concept. They also provide blankets at night so they can keep the doors open (A+ touch). I have been here a few times before and the drink service is ALWAYS soooooo ssslllooowww. It took about 20 mins for us to get our first drinks (we were only a group of 3 and 2/3s of us just got a glass of wine so like what's goin on back there guys). Food is great. Only snapped a photo of the cauliflower. Cauliflower is epically tender, the hummus is a great flavor. For our main dishes we got the Cavatelli, Braised Beef Roja, and Kale Salad with chicken. The cavatelli was amazing. Cooked perfectly and ragu was complex but fresh. Kale salad was slightly overdressed but chicken was moist and had a light smoke flavor. Can't wait to return to order the Roasted Bone Marrow!! read more

Yes! Vinyl Sundays! From 11am - 2pm every Sunday.

It'd be a good sunset view, but no direct ocean view.
What days/times do you have a dj or live music?
Hi Renee, we offer live Jazz music every other Wednesday. Our next Jazz night is tomorrow May 11th. As for DJs they play every Thursday-Saturday at 8pm and during Sunday brunch starting at 12pm.
Do they accept walk ins for a party of 6 brunch time?
Hi Marissa! On Saturday and Sunday brunch it is difficult to take large party walk-ins, however, on weekdays we can usually make it work! It wouldn't hurt to call ahead and speak with a host.
